I can't get enough of Vince Gill's velvet voice. Such a romantic singer! I can feel the emotions in his songs even though they are not my experiences. I just LOVE him. so I was listening to our country oldies (60s-90s) station and heard this song. Man, while I’m still happily married at 34 years- this song is just so hauntingly beautiful. I can’t believe it’s been over 25 years since it’s release. Vince plays it, sings it and acts it well… thank God for music!

This reminds me when my mom would listen to this in the car singing about how my dad cheated and left her (also abused his kids (me and my brother)) she loved him even though he was horrible but now she's passed and not hurting anymore and I really don't care where he is. She died at the age 29 two days before her birthday I was 10 so I really didn't understand but now that I'm older I understand. I miss her every single day but I'm glad she's in a better place now.

This song sure pulls on my heartstrings, when I was younger someone and I ended our relationship, I went on with my life and got married all though I would always wondered what he was doing. Well 30 years later we got in touch with each other and stayed friends, and we caught up with our lives adventures then two years later he stopped answering and I knew he would have to be dead to not answer me back and he did indeed had passed away. I feel like God gave us that time to at least catch up and forgive each other and we did. It kills me to know he is gone.
Stay positive and pray for all our pains will be healed and our new path will give us comfort 🙏 ❤❤❤ it's hard but our healing is coming ❤ believe and trust Jesus 🙏 ❤

Just read some of y’all’s comments and while I’m a big huge fan of Vince, yu think this song is sad. What about that one country singer “ He stopped loving her today “ Put a wreath on her door. I hated that song! Lol. He died is why he stopped loving her. Talk about sad! 😢 yes rejection is tough pill to swallow but remember they probably at one time or another was rejected too so don’t beat urself up too bad..grieve for awhile but have the courage, faith to move on and try not to have a grudge cuz ur only hurting urself and ur heart can’t heal. ❤❤❤
@George Dave idk. He’s very emotional when he sings and puts it out there. When I heard he didn’t want to up front singing but play his guitar in the band was amusing. He’s definitely talented!!

Yeah, George Jones, the Possum. That song is a heartbreaker and got to be in the all time top 10, in my book, top 5. Sometimes it's hard to listen to my country music. Brings up a lot memories. A lot of good ones. But I'm still tangling with the sad ones. Only sad because they're mixed right in there with all the memories.
