Carol and I had only been married a little over a year when I got my draft notice. We met each other at work on her first day and 6 months later we were married. We were never apart. That notice hurt both us more than we had ever hurt before. I was gone a little over 2 years. I arrived at the airport and Carol was there standing at the gate jumping up and down. It's been over 56 years since then and we've never been apart since then. I never knew love could be like this. I never knew I could have a life like we've had. Carol says most older folks spend their time reliving memories, but we are making new ones every single day. Our daughters say we are like teenagers still. We are in our late 70's and She still lights up my life every single day.

This is my most favorite song in the whole wide world! The man who dedicated this song for us in the 90's, went to prison. I was there for him and picked him up when he got out. We were together for a bit. We eventually broke up not on bad terms. We were both doing our thing. We both ended up getting into trouble and going away for a long time and lost contact. Tho he was never far from my heart or thoughts. I got out he was still in w/out a release date. I thought he was mad at me for whatever reason. I married someone else, had a child. Still he was never far from my thoughts. By the grace of God after 20yrs. One of my best friends told me He was released and gave me his #. I just want to see how he was doing? (Not being happy in my current situation) I called him.. Needless to say the flame still burns brighter and hotter then ever! We are in two different states. And we both still care care for and love each other unconditionally. My current marriage is pretty much in the shithole and my daughter is 13yrs old and my heart aches... cuz I don't know what to do? 😢

Vince was an artist...not just a musician. Vince and Mark Knopfler are both great guitarists. Mark's voice isn't near Vince's, at least in my opinion, but the 2 just didn't need each other lol. They did well for themselves.

Tho he was never far from my heart or thoughts. I got out he was still in w/out a release date. I thought he was mad at me for whatever reason. I married someone else, had a child. Still he was never far from my thoughts. By the grace of God after 20yrs. One of my best friends told me He was released and gave me his #. I just want to see how he was doing? (Not being happy in my current situation) I called him.. Needless to say the flame still burns brighter and hotter then ever! We are in two different states. And we both still care care for and love each other unconditionally. My current marriage is pretty much in the shithole and my daughter is 13yrs old and my heart aches... cuz I don't know what to do? 😢

I got the pleasure of meeting Vince Gill when I was in 6th grade when he made this video outside of Amarillo,Tx. My sister-in-law worked at the gas station and they had a big dinner for him and his crew. I remember it like it was yesterday, he was so sweet to give me his autograph and let me take a picture with him. His voice is one of a kind! Nobody could ever fill his shoes!

In September 1978 auditions found Vince Gill (vocals, guitars, mandolin, banjo, fiddle), who had played with the bluegrass outfit Mountain Smoke, as well as Boone Creek (with Ricky Skaggs) and Byron Berline and his band Sundance. Further auditions brought in L.A. musician Steve Patrick Bolin (vocals, guitars, flute, saxophone) in January 1979. This revamped lineup recorded Can't Hold Back (June 1979), which turned out to be their last for RCA.

vcantr000 Yeah. And, he did better turning them down. Thing is, had he joined them, he'd pretty much be Mark's hired gun. He'd just be a supporting musician for Mark's artistry. Vince was an artist...not just a musician.
Vince and Mark Knopfler are both great guitarists. Mark's voice isn't near Vince's, at least in my opinion, but the 2 just didn't need each other lol. They did well for themselves.
VINCE is such a BEAUTIFUL SINGER. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERY SINGLE SONG HE HAS WRITTEN. ALL OF HIS SONGS HAVE SO MUCH CARING & AFFECTION IN THEM.. THEY REALLY PULL AT YOUR HEART STRINGS.
