Allison got me thru a rough knee replacement by inspiring me to pray, meditate, seek healing thought, food & vitamin's. I would listen to her when doing my in home PT. In one month & 3 days I had a full range of motion with strength. She is a healer. Thank you Allison, ✝️🌄🌹Vince James
I lost my wife in a river accident when she drowned in march 2022, so this song was especially powerful for me. We performed it at her memorial.Thank you for such a lovely song!
If you can listen to this without getting a little emotional. Well you are definitely not human. God blessed us with this beautiful lady. Her voice is undescribable!
Lost my wife December 2022. This song brings me both tears and peace knowing that one day we will be together again. This Angel voice brings so much emotion. Thank you so much for this song.
I lost my husband last November & Allison, I want you to know how this song, being sung so beautifully by you helps me . Especially when I feel I can't get out of bed & just go on that day. Thank you. It makes me cry, but crying is good. ❤💔😓
So sorry for your loss. But he was loved and what more can anyone want ? He was a very lucky guy and I know how powerful this song is, she is a treasure to be sure. She makes you feel what she wants to say
And there's a reason that she's won more Grammy Awards than anyone. Because her peers recognize just how talented she is. Unfortunately, the Grammy Awards have been forced into becoming a popularity contest. That's what the American music Awards are for, as well as the other awards shows which are about awarding big hits, whether you have talent or not. Everyone there in that recording room, has sheer talent. No auto-tune, no pitch correction, none of that. It's not necessary when you have talent. Remember, Alison was a child prodigy on the fiddle and signed her contract with Rounder records at 14 and won her first Grammy at 19 and put bluegrass back on the map. You GO GIRL!!! By the way, second place is the great Quincy Jones. She's one ahead of him. And for those thinking country, bluegrass, etc., well she's won them across the board. Including 2 times Best Album of the year (O' Brother Where Are Thou? and Raising Sand).
If my wife passed away, this is the song I would play at her funeral… My Son and Daughter and all my wife’s friends would be comforted by this incredibly, beautiful song 🎶
I have been so blessed to have been around to hear that angelic voice and a back up band bar none. She is one of only a very few artist whose "other" songs, the ones that did not make the charts, I can listen to with just as much joy
This song was played at my uncle's funeral today. This beautiful work of art will remain in my heart and mind forever. Thank you for your blessed voice.
I love it. I like listening to Alison. I don't know what it is. I love the way she sings. Love hearing her voice ❤️ I'd like to meet her. Get her autograph. She's an angel 😇
I am blessed to have had a wonderful husband who made provisions for the rest of my life to be easier! This is ours baby! I love and miss you! RIP Larry Snyder November 26, 1970 December 23, 2020 With all my love 💓
Jerry Douglas on squareneck Strat, Ron Block on telecaster, I think that’s Stuart Duncan on baritone ukulele. Stuart is a major influence on Alison’s fiddling style (and mine 😁) but plays anything with strings. This lazy shuffle waltz groove is amazing, rare because it’s so hard to maintain without the tempo racing away. Monster talents, everybody. 🎶💙
Yes, it's a perfect performance that shows to everybody how to play music. Every note is on really place, no speed on, no "chaos" and "egoism", just pure music. I can't stop listening this song!
I just love the way she uses her fingers to emphasize what she is singing and the rest of her beautiful body to keep in touch with the rhythm of the music!
Away Down the River Alison Krauss Baby, dry your eyes There's no need to cry 'Cause I'll see you again It might be a while Before you understand I'm just away down the river A hundred miles or more Crossing over Jordan To the other shore I'll be standing, waiting With all who've gone before I'm just away down the river A hundred miles or more Now the pictures on the wall Will help you to recall They're not there To make you sad But to remember All the good times we had I'm just away down the river A hundred miles or more Crossing over Jordan To the other shore I'll be standing, waiting With all who've gone before I'm just away down the river A hundred miles or more When it's time to leave You're gonna feel the mountain breeze And the snow will fill the stream And carry you to me I'm just away down the river A hundred miles or more Crossing over Jordan To the other shore I'll be standing, waiting With all who've gone before I'm just away down the river A hundred miles or more
Makes me want to take my girlfriend and myself to Israel, to the Sea of Galilee, and worship Christ… Not many Christians would ever get that chance. Hopefully someday!
This has been wonderful to see all of these pictures of my sister Louise AND HER FAMILY. THIS IS WHAT STEVE AND I HAD PLANNED TO DO WITH ALL THOSE SLIDES AND JOHN MCCONAGHY PUT ABOUT 1500 ON "MY PICTURES" FOR SOME OF BLAND HARVEY*S GRANDCHILDREN TO ENJOY SEEING THEMSELVES 1950-1960'S. WE NEVER GOT THE PROJECTOR FOR THE PICTURE SHOWS. JOHN MADE CD*S FOR ALL THE FAMILIES. MARY LIB 8/15/2017

One of the finest songs Alison sings. Sometimes I just have to listen to this song.
They say art is supposed to make you feel something. This is art on a soul level.
I can't listen to this without crying.😢 Love n miss my newly passed Mother and youngest sister.

Beautiful song and stirs emotion. A sobering thought. Only those who believe in Jesus Christ will be there.
One of my favorites that I keep coming back to. Beautiful voice and stellar musicians. What more can you ask for?

Beautiful song
Away Down the River
Alison Krauss
Baby, dry your eyes
There's no need to cry
'Cause I'll see you again
It might be a while
Before you understand
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing, waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Now the pictures on the wall
Will help you to recall
They're not there
To make you sad
But to remember
All the good times we had
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing, waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
When it's time to leave
You're gonna feel the mountain breeze
And the snow will fill the stream
And carry you to me
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing, waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more

Oh. OK.
There is something wrong with the aspect ratio of this video. The horizontal dimension has been squished. It needs to be fixed.
