I’m still struggling to clinch my love for BL as I’m very busy now and I believe that we are starting to see more BL series become available for the world, they need to focus on investing on both writers and real life advisors as they will help you with bringing out the visions into reality via shows. I agree, the thing we lack here is we do not have advisors in any projects, ( the directors and screen writers are all Mr. & Ms. Knowalls). It may be budget issues too, but like you said, now we got too many BLs and mediocrity will not work.

Enchante was hands down one of the worst of this year! I was really hyped up for it, but It turned out worst than it is. It was OK at the beginning, but by the ending, Akk deserved way much better. They made Theo looked like he's a self-centered person by the ending. GMM should have cut the series to episode 8 when the whole enchante thing was revealed and done, but I think that extra 2 episodes made the plot worst and really random. Anyone who watched it knows what I'm talking about lol.
I think the thing about promising as opposed to out right bad, is that you think if they had only changed that or maybe cast it better it could have been so good and that makes it more diappointing. Many of these series even with their flaws I still enjoyed. Maybe because there was so few really good series, I think things on BLCs top 10 list should really be on this promising but flawed list as well. I think My Teddybear and Not Me should be on this list and are on the top 10 by default. I think if they had cast Not Me with another couple than Off/Gun and twicked the story a little it could have been a classic. No shade on Off/Gun but they were not right for the parts. I asked another bl fan what their favorite bl of 2022 was and they said Not Me, I asked them about Off/Gun and they agreed it was bad casting but their love of the second couple and that it was a real story with issues won them over. So I do not know if mediocre is the right word. I still liked many of these series with their flaws. Did the flaws make them mediocre, maybe some, more than anything sometimes it just made me sad. My Days, Your My Sky, Not Me were all series I wanted so much to be better but still glad I watched. I think I will remember them still.
I agree, and I once thought I might add those from the Best list too.. esp Teddy Bear, however, I later thought it would be repetitive for the viewers. Some of the series like YMS and Our Days, I am also glad I watched, but i just felt they could have been much better. But 40+ Thai BLs and just a handful were worth . I am looking forward to the coming 6 months in the next video. hope we will get something good there.
I cant really quibble with your list. I think I liked What Zabb Man, Something in My Room, and Dear Doctor I am Coming for Soul a bit more than you did. However your critiques on each did resonate with me. I guess my biggest disappointment was You’re My Sky. The basketball took up way too much of the story and the leads were miscast.
I remember we discussed that on my review of YMS too, but those scenes I skipped altogether and yes the leads... It is about the love story of Sky and the guy playing Sky was bad in acting.
The only one I didn't watch was Our Days, which I thought was overloaded with characters. I felt like I'd get lost trying to keep up with them all. Now, I'm glad I didn't try. I liked Dear Doctor, but you're right out our Dear Doctor only having 2 expressions! LOL The rest of them were meh. The Korean ones were so meh that I had forgotten all about them until just this minute. Seriously. My biggest disappointment is Cutie Pie. What a squandered opportunity. It could have been really good!
Haha Our Days.. first few episodes I was unable to differentiate most of the actors, all of them were new faces and it was hard to remember who is who!
Totalmente de acuerdo en todas, esperé tanto las series de Singto, él es un gran actor y lamentablemente siguen desperdiciando su potencial. Quiero verlo en un drama profundo bien hecho y por dios bien dirigido!!!
Watched only one series from the above list completely- first love again. This could be mediocre, but I enjoyed 😉. what zabb man, I tried watching but stopped after 4 or 5 episodes. It is really a below average one. Cutie pie- I watched first few episodes. It is an average or below average series with a big budget. So it looked good, but content 😑. About other ones I haven't watched, so can't say anything about it. One small note- The poster you see in 'something in my room' is that of an Indian movie released in 2009, which was a big hit in India and overseas.I don't know if it has something to do with the series.
Yeah, the poster, a lot of viewers were talking about that when it aired. Recently, Thailand is gripped by an Indian movie, the story of Konku, a woman sold at early age and how she rises to power. A lot of Thai actors have written lengthy reviews on their twitter and Insta feed, and a lot of them started following the actress too.
@@blcritic OK, Gangubai Kathiawadi; titular character played by Alia Bhatt (one of the prominent actress in India). The movie is a biographical one and was a hit in India. Waiting for your next video.
Oh yeah, that one, The Actress is really beautiful and has this teenage girl charm in her face. It is available on Netflix now I think ( may be Prime video), but yet to watch it. I watched quite a few. Most are through film festival eg. Lunchbox.. and 1 on theatre, I watched on Major Ekkamai and that's Bahubaali. Next video idea is ready.. but I am lazy today.. it's already late now and I gotta hit fitness tomorrow morning.
It amuses me that the one 2022 series whose merits have been contested most vigorously by our little BL Critic community appeared on none of Mr Critic's three lists. Some of us wondered why it wasn't in the Top Ten and some why it missed the Trainwreck 10. But it's not here in the Mediocrity 10 either. And somehow that seems fair for a series whose lows were cringey and highs were inspirational. If there was a list for inconsistency, surely Secret Crush on You would top that list! Or bottom it. Could go either way, just like the main characters...
SCOY is polarizing. Most either love it or hate it, but I don't think anyone is ready to call it mediocre. I'd put it in my bottom 10 since I couldn't finish it.
Hehe.. SOCY is such a misfit, it didn't fit anywhere.. Good.. it's not that good... Disaster.. it's not that of one.. Mediocre... umm... but things had to be overhauled starting from the casting of Toh to the dialogues and 100 other things to the sky blue uniform.
@@blcritic Ah! Nooo I was trying to be cryptic but I didn’t mean SCOY at all. It’s one of the most funny, delightful and progressive takes of what we’ve all done and thought about doing when we’re besotted. I thought OP meant that other big series that’s making money hand over fist from marketing to BL audiences but is not actually a BL 😛. Because for me that was a complete disaster, front and back of camera, and the most traumatic experience I’ve been through in my online life fr 🤣
@@stepmaster9988 I did, rather purposely, bury the lede in the OP. You probably speed read past the title by the time it showed up. As for KP, I've yet to watch but I am glad to see at least one person has nothing nice to say about it.
For me some in the high rank BL lists are unbelievable mediocre, they are : good production YES good budget YES good acting YES Good to see something new NO
Not on any of your lists, but La Cuisine suffered from slow pacing and poor editing, and even though I thought it was going to have a boring plot they really went waaay more extreme than I was expecting on the plot points (it was like 0 to 100 in terms of drama), but even then none of it resulted in any change or growth for the main characters so I was left feeling like "what was even the point?". Our Days broke my heart!! I loved Mon as a character so much, but the unnecessary drama that So put them both through was just... absurd. Not to spoil, but if that was your reason, why lie about it?????? Made zero sense. Dear Doctor was heartbreaking, I really wanted more for that series. I truly think editing is partially to blame on that one, every shot lingers for like half a second too long, there are too many pauses between people speaking? But also we watched Prakan make the same mistake too many times, it felt like going in circles. Still, those last 2 episodes were pretty good. Something in my Room was also super disappointing, and you're right that the cuts ruined the show, though I think it needed significant script revisions too. It was just not written tightly; the actual plot could have fit in 45 minutes episodes if it had been better written. And even with things dragging out, it felt like a lot was not explained well. And First Love Again had so many of my favourite tropes, but those last episodes sucked. I think partially it was rushed, they went from getting off on the wrong foot to being super in love way too fast. This plot really needed time for a slow burn to do it justice.
I agree with your opinions of the series' overall but some of the reasons I don't. Paint with love I liked in general but there was no chemistry with any of the bl couples at all. I like singto and tae but I don't think Tae should do romantic parts,at least bl parts! Our Days and you're my sky had good parts but suffered from script and coupling. You're my sky secondary couple was why I kept watching. BoomJump I'd love to see in more series. Tae(Tubfah) was also in Y-Destiny last year and he was matched with Chap and there wasn't much chemistry there either. I've noticed way too many actors should not do bl roles if they can't make us believe that they actually like someone of the same sex. Many are great at it even if the series or acting may not be great just because of the chemistry between the actors. The Korean bl's have definitely improved in quality and quantity they have the same issues as the Thai ones.
Well I agree with most of them on the list other then cutie pie. The look, the soundtrack, the cast, the chemistry were all there and on point. Could they have cleared everything up sooner say by ep 8 or whatnot? Well of course but thai bl all want 12 so they all keep a few misunderstandings going. At least the leads were kissing and together even before the cleared the air so the minor stuff they needed to resolve didnt bug me much. All of the rest of the list though some I never finished or even got beyond a few episodes. Paint with love sounds similar to the miracle of teddy bear. Angry fight resolve it by the end rinse and repeat(hated this in miracle i saw spoilers of how it ended and never finished cause what happens to tofu). Ocean likes me was boring. I dunno if kissable lips was this year but I truly hate that one. To my star 2 confusing as hell im still not sure what happened. Mr unlucky I expected more outta the beautiful man crew it didn't have the depth or chemistry of my beautiful man all. The leads keeping each other at arms length the whole series and never getting a good romantic kiss at the end just was a let down. Old fashioned cupcake teased an end kiss then flaked and didnt do it and I'm still feeling a bit salty even though I liked the series lol
😭😢🥺 Seemingly, my reply for the last video had preceded & should have posted here for this video.😨 Yeah, Lian & Kuea could have solved their problem by a simple communication but the script had intentionally dragged it out till the last episode. And straightforwardly, if I may say ?🫢 I resented the way Lian’s close friend (can’t remember this character’s name) had treated Kuea’s close friend … err … like … err … his mistress ! (Sugar daddy / a kept woman type & then claimed his virginity later) Disgusting !😖 Lastly, I can hardly wait to hear your thoughts about KinnPorche after the show ended. Curious if your thoughts will be like mine ?🤨😏🤫🤔
I saw only first episode of Something in my room. The rest I have seen and not liked so much. Love class, our days could've been better. Love class was too short and our days needlessly slow paced long eps. Edit: YMS i liked overall except the slow pace. PWL had the capacity to be witty comedy with Tae's and Singto's contrasting personalities unfortunately the script failed it's simple plot. I saw Dear Doctor... but i dont why I saw it. I guess just because it popped up on YT feed every week. I skipped many parts of it.The korean ones all had novel ideas but execution, editing failed. Maybe because it's BL the production doesn't pay too much attention to make it a success?

LOL
The rest of them were meh.
Haa that one needs its own scam of the year video
For me some in the high rank BL lists are unbelievable mediocre,
they are :
good production YES
good budget YES
good acting YES
Good to see something new NO
Not on any of your lists, but La Cuisine suffered from slow pacing and poor editing, and even though I thought it was going to have a boring plot they really went waaay more extreme than I was expecting on the plot points (it was like 0 to 100 in terms of drama), but even then none of it resulted in any change or growth for the main characters so I was left feeling like "what was even the point?".
La Cuisine was on spot 11.
I agree, Actors should not just use BL as shortcut to fame, they can't even have some chemistry with the actor they're paired with.
(Sugar daddy / a kept woman type & then claimed his virginity later) Disgusting !😖
Lastly, I can hardly wait to hear your thoughts about KinnPorche after the show ended. Curious if your thoughts will be like mine ?🤨😏🤫🤔
I agree, Both Lian and his friend had a problematic way of treating Nukuea and his friend.
Somehow I agree, the production must have the illusion that they will have viewers no matter what, hence they can cut the budget on so many fronts.
Team Saint ❤️
I was thinking I was the only one thinking these shows sucked.
You are not alone!
