I always thought the 94 should've never been changed. I heard it for years playing in the back of my mind, and then found it on youtube back in 2011ish.
@rug792 yes it was used for only one year. It actually debuted in January of 1993 for the first Cowboys-Bills Super bowl (played at the Rose Bowl) and was used for the last time at the Chiefs-Bills AFC championship game in January of 1994.
1993 was the first year I started watching the NFL, and despite my favorite team being in the AFC, I have almost no recollection of this theme. That's how forgettable it was. Definitely remember the 1994 theme though.
They had the classic "bell" theme in the '86-'88 seasons, which was glorious. Then the switch to John Tesh's "Gridiron Dreams" which was pretty good but slight downgrade from the previous theme. Then the '92 theme which was wildly forgettable and underwhelming, sounding nothing like a football theme. This one wasn't as bad but still doesn't cut it IMO. The one in '94 was OK but nothing special. By '95 they again had a glorious theme that was catchy and helped inspire, used through the end of their coverage of the AFC after the '97 season.
The one they used the following year was an absolute gem

This theme is conducted by John Colby who did the NFL Live theme for that season. He also composed the other 2 NBC NFL themes (1992, 1994).

@jaboo82681 so it was Super Bowl XXIX when the next theme first appeared?
@@MrT8599 XXVIII I think!
@@jamiehealy7732 oh that's right because XXIX was on ABC not NBC
@@MrT8599 That is correct! It was odd that NBC had two super bowls in a row!
@@jamiehealy7732 it was how the contract was set up
"Yeah!"
"Hey fellas!" "Are you ready for some football!?" 🏈 "yes, it's Monday night!" 🌃 "let's go!"
Extremely similar to both John Colby’s 1991-2005 Notre Dame on NBC theme and also Colby’s 1991-2005 College Bowl Games on NBC theme
I think that this would make a great golf theme as well as football...

Gridiron 2 was the theme for '94. It was one of the best ever, in my humble opinion.
interesting,
must have been a one year trial song, don't remember.
thanks for posting though.
and for MLS soccer
Only sounds good for holiday games (Thanksgiving)
"I hope the 🟣 Vikings 🏈 are going to win the trophy at the playoffs?"🏆
Very similar to notre dame nbc theme from the 90s
Pretty sure that was John Colby too
@gemini6179 really? me too!
This song is an A. The song they used the next year is an A+. The one they used from 95 to 97 is a D.
95-97 was over-rated, but I'd take it over the current.
How about the 92 one?
💚 "Packers, 🧀 sucks!" 🤮 "on ice!"❄ 🟣 "Skol Vikings!" 🏈 "Yeah!" "Woo!" "Yay!" "Yes!"
"Down 👇 with the 💚 cheese heads!" 🧀 🟣 "Go purple 🟣 people eaters!" 🏈 "Yeah!" "Woo!" "Yay!" "Yes!"
