Everything about the 1980's seemed just right. From the music, to movies, to sports. Yes, at times; admittedly so, the 80's were cheesy. But a lot of people had fun that decade. One of the best decades I've ever seen by far!
Hello Kim Martin. I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the input. I really am a fan of the 70's too just like the 80's! I stopped liking newer music around 1996. After grunge of the early 90's the music industry got alotta commercial for me; so I lost interest. As they say everything runs in cycles. Hopefully 80's sounding music comes back soon.
The decade of the best TV announcers... Summerall, Madden, Michaels, Enberg, Keith Jackson... Buck & Aikman would be the 4th string back in those days.
Bro Loaf I had the same thought. and showing those hits just cemented why I don't give a rat's ass about any passing records being broken in he last 10-15 years. the quarterbacks in the past were fair game to be hit, you cant even blink at a quarterback now, so which is a bigger deal? Marino standing in and throwing 48 td's or whoever holds the record now without being in fear of getting hit?
80s had a combination of 70s players which makes it the best two decades in pro football ever...Eric Dickersons style of running in the open field was poetry in motion...
I seen this VHS for sale at a garage sale in North Dallas in a rich area of the city.I was going to buy it but my dad said no because we already had NFL films VHS shows at my house. We had NFL's greatest games,NFL's greatest hits,The 75th season NFL show, and NFL's football follies. So he was like not another football movie. So I didn't get the VHS.Anyways I found it on you tube and I had to watch it.Because at my house on Sundays we watched pro football in the 80's,90's,2000's,and 2010's.And we still watch football in the 2020's when I go over my parents house on Sunday every other weekend.I remember Steve Sabol RIP would narrate these NFL films back then.Thamks for the upload this is truly a gem in pro football. 👍
redhead5150 enter Aaron Rodgers. The California kid who throws like Elway, runs like Tarkenton, leads like Staubach, and releases like Marino. yes, there is no Quarterback alive like the Berkley Bear.
+redhead5150 He was no Bob Griese, no Larry Czonka, Mercury Morris or No Name Defence. 3 Super Bowls in a row, no undefeated season, no 2 Superbowl Championships in a row.
You said Red skins, I'm offended now, just kidding I agree with you 100% it was fun time in the NFL. However the super bowls did suck because by half time it was over too many blowouts. Maybe 2 or 3 games were competitive, both Bengals vs 49ers and dolphins vs redskins my opinion.
To me, the 80s jumped up with the athleticism, guys were full time footballers more than ever, not cab drivers in the off-season, training techniques advanced, ect. While guys are way more of specimens now, you cant play the game like you could then. The 80s were probably the most violent era ever.
10:53 Jackson caught that ball right down in front of me and my dad. (And thousands of other dawg pounders obviously 😂) at the time, it was just shock, not knowing we just saw one of the most historic moments in nfl history. And Karlis missed that kick btw. Everyone where we were sitting jumped up with confidence because it was clearly no good. Harumph..
The 80’s were great : personally I think the 70’s postseason games were way way more dramatic & classic : most of the original broadcasts of 7/8 games is lost or unavailable
I wonder how well the current New England patriots would do if they were back in the 70's and 80's WITH 70'S AND 80'S RULES. I'll answer my own question... probably as well as the 70's and 80's patriots did LOL!!!!!
@@sactownsteelers6748 marino was the best passer of the 80's. Joe Montana was the greatest quarterback of all time. that pussy in new England oculdnt have played in Montana's era, he cant take a hit now, there's no way he could have played back when quarterback's were allowed to be hit for real.
There are many differences between the NFL pre & post let’s say the yr 2000, but the one that to me is the most glaring & perhaps my biggest pet peeve is the constant calling for a PI flag by the most current era’s WR on the majority of incomplete passes. I think the NFL could get this under control by flagging Pass Catchers for doing this after a 1st warning. How is it not “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” in repeatedly telling/insisting the REF to call a penalty for yourself immediately after a play? A coach that ran up to a REF after multiple plays and insisted they throw a flag would get flagged for that behavior: A WR Miming a PI flag throw is such 2nd nature to WRs now ( to where it filters all the way down to little league emulation ) that they don’t even think about it anymore, they just do it. It’s very very lame.
Niners had the team bill walsh created Dan Maeino was best qb 80s and Terry Bradshaw who won 4 Superbowl first won his in 2 back to backs something Montana never did . T. Bradshaw greatest qb
If there's one person to blame for the fall of the NFL, it's clearly Roger Goodell. Let's face it, the NFL is becoming what the NBA was in the early-to-mid 2000s when Michael Jordan retired, a thug league

I totally agree!
Nothing compares to the 80's.
I agree 100%
And the coaches gave good speeches, whether it was...the start, halftime or end of games...80's was the shyte
Watching these old films gives me concussions.
The decade of the best TV announcers... Summerall, Madden, Michaels, Enberg, Keith Jackson... Buck & Aikman would be the 4th string back in those days.
Add charlie jones, verne Lundquist to that list.
@@jaycompany4886 yup. And Merlin Olsen and Dan Dierdorf in his prime
Walter Payton, Dwight Clark, Tom Landry, Mike Webster, and Bill Walsh R.I.P.
William Diemert hall of fame legends.
So many of those defensive hits would be flagged today.

Eric was fun to watch specifically with the goggles, that ram jersey is one of my favorites.
80's were the best of times.
I had this on VHS as a kid and watched it all the time. Can still quote most of it as I watch now haha
No matter how far back I go, my Lions still suck. LMAO.
I gotta get back to the 50's
I really do love these highlights though.
Hey, we're looking a lot better lately.
When the identities of the teams came through. Some teams had personality. I miss that. Also grass and dirt stains!
I also miss seeing the bright green Astroturf. The players hated it but when I see it, I always think of 80's NFL.
I hate astroturf
Oh was this the era all the players were doing blow at parties
..and hookers lol and high on coke while playing too.. ask L.T.
Shit was flat out ruthless; bring it back!

The 80's to me was watching Dan Marino destroy defenses with the greatest QB arm in NFL history !!!!

enter Aaron Rodgers.
The California kid who throws like Elway, runs like Tarkenton, leads like Staubach, and releases like Marino.
yes, there is no Quarterback alive like the Berkley Bear.
Matthew633 You’re either very young or irrationally biased.
With only handful of playoff victories and one Super bowl appearance.
Joe Griego a* handful
+redhead5150 He was no Bob Griese, no Larry Czonka, Mercury Morris or No Name Defence. 3 Super Bowls in a row, no undefeated season, no 2 Superbowl Championships in a row.
If Marino and the Dolphins didn't play any teams from California in 1984 they would've been undefeated SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!!!
The 1980s were a dark era for the Steelers and Cowboys
The ☆COWBOYS☆ still won far more games than they lost!!!
Jerome Elster; They were still irrelevant.
Good!
One cannot underestimate what Steve Sabol and NFL films did for that league during that era.
My favorite decade overall, but my Vikes were the best in the 70's.
"The catch" was the beginning of my personal low point that lasted through the loss to Washington the fallowing year...
Jerome Elster following*
I'm old enough to remember today's Good teams being bad and today's Bad teams being good!
NINERS RULING THE 80's BABY!!!!
Rob Morrow the team of the 1980's.
309 receiving yards?...that whole San Diego defense should have been released after the game
When I think of the NFL I think of those awesome 80s teams people were scared to play- The Raiders, Steelers, and The Redskins.
Sitizen Kane Steelers were not good in the 80s. I think people were scared of the 49ers, raiders, bears, broncos, Redskins, Giants.
The Saints Dome Patrol

And the team of the decade who dominated it: The San Francisco 49ers
Thanks to the uploader this thing has commercials every 4th minute.
Get an Adblocker I haven’t watched a RUclips ad in like 5 years
@ninja_walrus I just pay for premium now.
NFL on tape always felt more dramatic
Seems like the NFL became the most popular league in the 80's
There are six plays in the first four minutes players would be suspended for now.

some stuff is missing from this
Every play: that’s a penalty in 2024
@ 5:27..." some that will stand forever"....They have ALL been broken, except for Dickerson's 2,105 rushing!
Nicky Depaola
Marino's 1984 records would have lasted if the rules weren't so changed to make passing so easy.
Monks record was rather impressive as Washington was actually a running team.
this must have come out in 1989
I think they we're more scared of the 49ers than the raders.
Patrick Ramirez Raiders*

I need to know the music at 19:50!! I can’t find it on any of the Sam Spence nfl albums
joe Montana was the best qb of the 80s

When PRO FOOTBALL was REAL! not this panzy ass 'stupid uniforms' grandiose stadium horse shit days as today.
Old people
Where's the Saints Dome Patrol
Billy Whiteshoes vs 49ers was B.S. the film showed he was clearly 6 inches short. No replay in 83.
He definitely came up shy on that td. Terrible call!

I agree 100%. the 70's were the greatest era of the nfl ever.

Well, honestly it wasn't that excellent. The facemasks sucked for starters, as did the stadiums.
Shut up
