Competition is good. It forces the competition to up their game and that benefits the consumers. If they mess around and make their comic cases with UV protect, they will take even more market share!

Yep say this all the time. Nobody knows what CBCS stands for, too many letters, should have changed it to BGS when they bought the company.
More like CBCS could be out of business, but CGC is still the standard and will be tough to dethrone. CGC has to get a VAULT yesterday.

As an investor, the 4 points you raise are insignificant to me. Until PSA graded comics sell for more than CGC (comparatively), I will never buy a PSA graded comic. Value will drive business. Thus, unless this happens, no way that PSA eats anyone’s lunch. It’s my same position on CBCS too. Also, the PSA label is ugly.

Sadly CGC is done. PSA is like a plague that spreads. I'm not sending anymore books off to CGC for a while I fear. Whatever, I'll probably send off some Marvel Platinum cards to CGC Cards and try for some pristine 10s! They sell for more than PSA 10s. They are still good for something.
The idea that anyone, regardless of namesake, is going to come & take away a significant market share of what CGC has built over almost 25 yrs is laughable.
Collectors value CGC…unless you can change that for them to value PSA more, it’s a moot point.
PSA may very well damage or even destroy CBCS because that share is so small & the PSA ban holds more weight, but CGC is secure.
They are still & will remain for the foreseeable future, the Gold standard.

Great show, another thing that psa does is on sight grading at shows, you get your submission the same day
Cgc has nothing to worry about imo, I trust them a heck of alot more than Psa in regards to comic book grading. If Psa can be somewhat inconsistent with cards (that they are the leaders in) Then how inconsistent will they be with comics, grading cards and comics are two very different things. Unless they just get by because of their name which wouldn't surprise me too much either.
Won't be the same team or people grading the comics that grade the cards. We have no clue what the price point, turnaround times or grading accuracy will be. I'm sure they will be on par with CGC & CBCS starting off.
I hope PSA changes their label to make it more appealing to the eye. Also, people have millions of dollars invested in CGC graded comics, that faction of the comic world has a vested interest in making sure that the CGC brand remains the top dog. I think that, because of this, those elite/ high level investors won’t allow the CGC brand to fall, else they stand to lose money.

Main thing is competition. It's a wait and see.
PSA should introduce their own grading system by eliminating the 9.2, 9.4, and 9.6 grades and sticking to .5 intervals. This would clarify that a .5 grade indicates too few defects for a lower grade but too many for the next higher one. By doing so, I believe it would be rare for someone to risk cracking open a PSA 9.5 in hopes of achieving a CGC 9.6 or higher.
I highly agree. The 9.0-9.2-9.4-9-6-9.8 is BS!!!! Grading scale. Even Overstreet price guide dosnt use that stupid scale system because it makes no sense

Great video and good to see more competition in the comic book grading space. On your first point cgc has a very extensive registry system. I’ve been using it over 10+ years.
It’s all going to come down to the secondary market and resale value. The ancillary grading companies will be toast but I think cgc will be fine. There’s easily millions of graded cgc books, nobody is going to send their cgc graded books to psa unless the secondary market demands it.
They should have started grading toys, not comics.
Hopefully their census will let everyone know how many newsstand or mark jewelers for each issue, unlike CGC. If PSA were more generous with the 10.0's especially with modern books, then the market will favor them. Also would really love it if their books didn't move around inside the case, like my comics do in their CGC cases.

You can't honestly say PSA is going to have a good case. Theyre cases are trash compared to CGC. The CGC case is thicker plastic and more clear. PSA couldn't even update their old case without having manufacturing issues.
CGC also works with ebay for authentication on Magic the Gathering and Pokemon cards.

Grading/authenticating a comic is a lot more difficult than a trading card. What makes psa think they have the graders to do the job? Whats their stance on pressing? Will they send comics back with a new for comics "mini-size" sticker and refuse to grade? This is another money grab joke. Maybe they should become self proclaimed experts in coins, action figures and naked grandma photos.

You see the videos of those 20 year old tattooed kids grading Comics at CGC? Those behind the scene videos from them made me lose a lot of faith in their graders.

I don’t think CGC grades with population control in mind. I think PSA does so their comic/mag grading may not be totally truthful.
Finally, I have a PSA membership so I will give them a try with my Modern Books. Can we all say PSA 10 of Ultimate Spiderman...hahahahah $$$$.
Give me a break haha. PSA isn't going to challenge CGC.
