Thanks for the shoutout and it is DAVE-ngers since my name is Dave :) I wouln't feel bad for CGC, or even say they are coming under attack. They lack and have always lacked consistency. They had multiple scammers right under their noses and had no clue what was happening, and have , to my knowledge, not compensated people who own those books. I don't think 3rd party grading should exist if they can't operate correctly.

Having the bigger channels putting eyes on issues any grading company has is needed.

I would trust a CBCS book over CGC book all day long!

My problem with them is the 9.9 and 10.0 grading ... it makes no sense to me how for years the highest ... holy grail ... was 9.8 and now out of the blue ... they somehow can find grades of 9.9 and 10.0 ... my conspiracy brain thinks they want comic book collectors to resubmit (for money of course) to get a higher grading ... I think that for any 9.8 holders they should allow you to send them in at no charge to see if you get a higher rating ... just my two cents.
Love the channel ... keep it up.

Too big to fail. That’s the problem and CGC knows it. I don’t like it but I understand it. If the market gave equal standing to other 3rd party graders that would force them to improve their product or lose market share.

I sent a few books to CGC for the last McFarlane signing. One book came back with terrible newton rings and two others were loose inside the slabs. I had to get them all redone and I lost all of my custom labels. 😒

If people continue to send in comics to be graded then they are part of the problem. I'm one of those who want CGC to fail. Bad for the hobby.

I have had issues with CGC and don't like to use them, although I understood the point of them, in terms of what they can see and clarify on and in a book (restoration, damage that isn't seen, things cut out of the book that could be missed, and other things). However, when you can't open the case, you're assuming everything in there is correct according to what's on the label. If there is any damage to the credibility to that company, it definitely puts doubt on that. I can always ask a LCS to open up a book and look through it before I purchase it (especially a bigger book), but can't do that with something in the case. My issue with them was I sent them an original X-Men #1, and I had no problem with the grade, but they put the wrong custom label on it, and when I contacted them, they basically wanted me to pay for everything over again (this is years ago before the scandals), trying to tell me it's what I ordered (even though I know the difference between Spider-man and the X-Men). So after that brush off, I kind of refused to deal with them with my books getting graded. I will buy graded books when it is something I want at a decent price (just like I would with everything else). As for the 9.8 to 9.9 to 10....I think it is a stratgey by them to get a lot of resubmissions of older books (and they will most likely lower the standards here and there, because if there is too much rejection, people will just stop submitting for the prescreen), mainly because there are only so many older books out there, and they're not going to make a living off of grading new books for very long. Especially if the value of newer books continues to not hold that well, then people will slowly stop submitting newer books at the rates they do, because it just won't be worth it. So....throw a few 9.9 and 10.0 in there and get the market in a frenzy all over again.....then you can drag that out for awhile until that well starts to run dry and you have to think of something else. But overall, I think it's a ploy to keep themselves in business, and they have to do things like that to keep sustaining themselves, because eventually the big value (and hence their big paycheck) books will dry up and then they will have to try and make a living off of modern books. I don't hate them, and I think generally they serve a purpose, but they're also self promoting and have inserted themselves in the collectible business a few too many times for my liking, rather than just sticking to being a third party artbitor of what the grade of the book should be.....just a humble opinion though.

CGC should close down. If there were more slabbing companies in the market, CGC would have already shut its doors. I've personally halted all slabbing activities since the Acetate Gate scandal and am adamant about not sending any books to CGC. If I choose to slab a book, it'll definitely be through CBCS.

Point of order, we also live in a world where requiring people to post tons of pictures for high-value books is doable, which would relieve the need for third-party grading. Hell, have a Zoom video call with the potential buyer to run through it.
