Just a small suggestion. With the Asp Explorer, you have the ability to equip your ship with 6 hardpoints. Use two for your mining weapons and the other 4 for your offensive capabilities. Although your Asp Explorer should be able to safely escape any pirates that try to interdict you.. it's nice to have some weapons available should you need them to best your opponent if given no choice but combat
I've actually studied that quite a bit. It is kind of pointless to fight Pirates, since you can escape/avoid NPCs pretty easy. Players on the other hand, it's even more hopeless to try to fight because you're not going to beat a fully equipped combat ship with a mining/combat ship. My fear isn't the pirates, it's the ganker/griefer. But I'm avoiding open for the time being. I DO however equip myself with defensive tools like Chaff, a good shield and booster. And in case of human interdiction do as follows: -Submit interdiction -Deploy Chaff -4 Pips to Systems -Select nearby system -Hiperspace jump (High wake) Also after that run I bought myself a Python, and fully equipped it today. The reason I like to have all mining tools is that if you go for a single type of mining, say: laser. You will potentially miss out on the other types. I had an extra laser on the Python and It helped clear the asteroid rather rapidly, but then I was losing the subsurface deposits, and going especially for cores is extremely luck dependant. And not that it mattered that I was depleting the asteroid faster if my Collector Limpets couldn't keep up and I have to wait for them anyways... I made over 60 million today in about 2 hours of mining platinum and I used all of my mining tools (this might be my next video) I got A LOT of Plat from Subsurface deposits, and a lot from laser mining. AND a lot from Core mining. But hey, if you like wiping that asteroid field with those Pirates, that's all cool too! ;) And sorry for such a long answer lol
