How to get a Gold Chocobo in 90 minutes [Final Fantasy VII]

- This absolutely blew my mind when I discovered I didn't need to get all chocobo's to S rank in the races, so I just had to share it with you guys.
I hope you get some value out of this one!

Here a tip for all people they have the breeding issue with the same color/gender. I play FF7 on an emulation so its the state of the original PSX titel. I got 2 wonderful Rank A chocobos as parents and they breed a green male so i needed a blue female. The breeding issue appear on my game, no matter how many times i reload and breed, EVER single time the SAME color and gender combination appear when i try to get my second colored chocobo (for me it was a green male chocobo over and over again).
I read all comments here and alot in the internet about this issue/bug. Some say complete reset the game and reload, some say you have to fight random battles on different locations but nothing did work for me to change the RNG for breeding, until i found out something that did work for me. On an Emulation i have the opportunity to quicksave and speed up the game so i try MANY different things for houres until i figured out this simple solution:
The RNG changes everytime when you enter and leave the building where the chocobos are in (lets call it stable)! I will try to make it clear. Normaly you whould load the game, enter the stable and start breeding but for me i ever got the same outcome. So i did enter the stable, leave the stable and enter the stable again and then breed (dont need to go to world map, the screen outside the stable work too) and i got another chocobo as my cursed green male. But when i did exact the same again, i will ever get the same chocobo again. So you need to raise the times you leave and enter the stable everytime by 1. Example:
Load your game, enter 2 times the stable, breed. If you not get the the chocobe you want then
Load your game, enter 3 times the stable, breed. If you not get the the chocobe you want then
Load your game, enter 4 times the stable, breed. If you not get the the chocobe you want then
Load your game, enter 5 times the stable, breed. If you not get the the chocobe you want then
Load your game, enter 6 times the stable, breed. If you not get the the chocobe you want then
................reapeat this process until you get the color/gender you want.
It can takes a time (for me around 15 trys). It can happen that you get sometimes the same chocobos again because its total random but the RNG changes!
This was the only solution that worked for me so i hope i can help you with that information. :)

It seems like superstition... I walked in and out of the stable 6 times and then bred a blue male. Finally. That's just.. wtf?????? You don't roll heads or tails this way. Wtf
Tried this on my PS1 version of FF7 and it worked a treat! Took me about 90mins. I was lucky and got all the correct encounters to catch the right Chocobos, I also got lucky with the breeding and bred the correct gender and colour nearly every try! Thanks for showing us the easy way!

Hey man I got a green female chocobo, but I can't get a blue male for the life of me, im getting green males and females, and i got a blue once but it was a female, I'm playing God and It ain't fun lol, I'm doing random battles and it does nothing, idk if this matters but im playing on the switch. Dude. This is so awesome. I broke out FFVII for the first time in about 19 years here and decided, just as I got Cloud out of his coma, to refresh myself on chocobo breeding and racing (don't want to wait until level 80 to get Knights of Round). FF7 is the best game ever made, still playing it on playstation(PS5) it was downloadable for the ps4. Love this game and no other game can compete

While trying to do this, I got a female and male great chocobo (In that order) first try, and when trying to go to the gold saucer I got a little to close to Ruby weapon, and had to reset back to the last save point, which was putting the second great chocobo in the stable and had to reset about 50 times to get another male

Dont you need to feed the wonderful chocobo greens too, I cant win any races with it at base stats?
I have a blue female and I keep getting green female over and over again. I wasn’t clear on if you had to win 4 with each or with just 1 so I ended up winning 4 and 2 with the other great chocobo. I’m gonna redo the whole thing and just win 4 and try again. I’ve been resetting, battling more and trying everything but I guess the rng is not on my side. Also can I do this on disk 2? I have cloud back after mideel but I just realized you said after disk 3 in the beginning of the video.
i had great and wonderful at S class mated with a Carob nut and just got a normal yellow chocobo, does this happen sometimes? or is a green or blue supposed to be guaranteed

People, this DOES work!!! Maybe not 90min, but definitely no more than 2 and half hours.

I think from memory i managed to get away with 70 minutes or so haha!!
@@HazVsRPG In retrospect, I think next time it's going to take me way less time than this. This time around I was watching and rewatching each step carefully so I wouldn't screw up. That's extra time. I was actually pretty lucky with my RNG. I only had to restart my Nintendo Switch once to get the opposite gender on the second great Chocobo, and once for the get a green female one after I got the male blue one. So it's all good.
Again, most of my time was spent rewatching the steps to make sure I was approaching this correctly. Oh, and wining the 8th and 9th race with the Green Chocobo.
It's worked for me..thanks dude for your guidelines..much lifesaver after week trying to get c.gold..

nice one mate! took me a bit linger than 90 mins cos was having a hard time getting the wonderful as kept getting unrecommended ones but once I fathomed it only took 2 hours ish. was using ps1 emulator with turbo button, was only way I did it so fast, blitzed thru the races and battles

Things not covered in the video;
1) the first 2 chocobos captured need to be accompanied by the Spiral enemy; does it matter if there is 1 or 2 Spirals?
2) Do you need to win all of the races in a row? Or is it OK to lose?
3) Automatic or manual?
4) Is it OK to feed the Wonderful chocobo to make winning the races easier?
1) It does matter, i will doubke check this and get back to you here on this thread.
2) nope, doesnt have to be in a row thays why i said 'total' so you race 100 times as long as you win the listed amount of times total youll be fine.
3) either one is fine.
4) totally fine also.
1. Didn't matter for me
4. Press select fast then just hold r1, r2 and square. R1, R2 and X on xbox. Boost if u want it's not necessary.. it gains speed so fast. You don't even have to stear so it's like automatic just holding 3 buttons
Win 3: B
Win 6: A
Win 9: S
Win or lose a few don't matter just rank.
A can be a pain if there's chocobos in your path.. I lost 2 of em. Short races give less time to get by em. Do long and you can hold x until yours moving really fast. Granted my choco was only 95 and they had 115s lol
The 5th choco (black) was 117 speed 520 stamina. Should be similar for anyone else. So it gets easy. The wonder started 77 speed.. but the npc said it was fast lol. 10 sylkas greens speed +40 ? I dunno

Yes bro, this will be a game changer for speedrunners of the og ff7. All this time ive spent hours just trying to get a chocobo I could of did it in less than 2 to an hour and a half.

@@HazVsRPG Heck yea! I’m glad I was also able to finally beat the game. When I played the game as a kid 20 years ago I beat disc 2 and disc 3 wouldn’t work. I finally understand why my friends talked about knights of the round like the greatest thing ever.

Can absolutely do this as soon as you get the highwind on disk 2. Also with slight RNG manipulation there's no need to race.

This is amazing but.. why the constant saving? Is it just to make sure you get the right Chocobo?
Yeah, if you don't get the right chocobo, you'd have to start from the beginning again, every time heh! And it happens often, so best to keep lots of saves, to get around the potential timeloss!

I already got a green female chocobo and I'm trying to breed a blue male one but for some reason, even though I have already fought around 20 random battles, I still get a green female chocobo. Do you have any advice or tips? Thanks!
Try closing the game completely and restarting from the console as the last resort to reset the rng!
@@HazVsRPG I'm playing on my Android Phone. Tried restarting my phone then fought 3 more random battles before entering the Chocobo Farm then tried mating my 2 chocobos again and voila! BLUE MALE CHOCOBO! Thanks, Haz! You got yourself a new subscriber!

I could not win a single race with my wonderful chocobo after easily winning 9 in a row with the black one. I recommend using some extra greens on your wonderful before going back to the golden saucer so you don't have to make an extra trip like me.

Such a time saver. Gotta admit though, after grinding for S rank on all my chocobos as a teen, I truly appreciated the Golden Chocobo!
Dude the golden chocobo was like a badge of honor and commitment!! I remember grinding 6 or 7 chocobos out each playthrough just to get it!!!

Load save and keep trying, sometimes you will need to reset the rng by fighting random battles (about 5 or so) then save and retry.
First try I got a Green Male. So now I'm looking for a Blue Female. After 10x I still keep getting the exact same Green Female. They fixed this maybe? Going on attempt #11
Hey, thanks for the guide! I have a doubt: on step 4 you say we have to win 4 races between the two chocobos. I don't understand if we have to win 4 races (like 2 with male and 2 with female), then feed the best chocobo, and then win another 4 races with the best chocobo, or if I can just win 4 races with the best after feeding him and don't even run with the crappy one.
4 total 😁 so 4 with 1, or 2 and 2 etc

@@HazVsRPG only problem is that I couldn't see which of the original chocobos was the best (Chloe wouldn't tell me, she would only talk about the white chocobo from Mideel), so I fed both with 10 greens and ran 4 times with the male and 4 times with the female (before I read your answer). Great guide!

Is the last breeding step RNG for the Gold? Because my first time breeding did not give me a Gold.
Some people have reported this, so yes definitely it can be.
I have a green female class A and blue male class C. I can't get them to breed a black chocobo. Green or blue are the ones that come out. Help?

I did this 20+ years ago. Had so much time even for days of grinding. Id never do this today, not even for "just" 90m. Times have changed, id rather watch videos of other people doing it hahaha

Fun fact... Tried the bullshit "trick" with a great and wonderful for a good 20-30 times last night...*NOT ONE WORKED!* this method of racing two greats 4 times worked FIRST TIME! not even kidding, it got me angry last night so I just quit and decided sleep on it... Glad I have and already won 3 with a wonderful so I'm not gonna release that one, in fact it was the only one of last night's attempts I've kept (besides the female great but I thought it would be important to keep just in case) and when returning to it today... Just now actually I got a male great from what I had left... And used about half sylkis on each great, female great finished with everyone only half way on short, male was about 3.5/6 for the short so that was easy... Now to get more sylkis and go through getting green female... Ah thank you for this simple method that works compared to that fake trick I've tried numerous times

An hour? This has taken me like 3! 😂 Can’t get a bloody male one to show up. Keep having to reload! Also, Curiel Greens work better for catching them as they keep the Chocobo busy for longer

Can the Sylkis Greens go for less than 30.
Do I need to win 4 in total with both chocobos in step 4 or 4 wins with each of them? After that chloe still doesnt talk to me
4 wins total, 2 and 2, 3 and 1, or 4 with one chocobo.

I need help. I just fed slkyis greens to both my black and wonderful Chocobo to the max and raced them both to S rank. I try to breed them with the Zeio nut and i dont get a Golden Chocobo. Can someone explain. Do I just have to keep restarting my save and breeding them?
If you've followed all the steps and have the correct wonderful chocobo, then yes keep trying. If restarting is not working you'll need to go and fight 20 battles and try again also.
@@HazVsRPG ok so sometimes while breeding them you dont always get the Gold Chocobo first time. Also im not sure if i got my og chocobos from the rolly polly enemies but i still managed to get the black and wonderful chocobo. Does that matter at that point?
It shouldn't matter at that point, but I can't say I've tried tbh?! All I can say with certainty if the steps are followed 100% it will work.

I try bringing my blue and green Chocobo’s but I keep getting blue ones does losing the Chocobo race breaks their chances of breeding a black Chocobo?
Nope, following this will get you where you need to go. For some people it can take longer. Dont forget its RNG manipulation, so some will get it first try, and for others it can take 30 or more. If you get tired of it, reset, and start from teh beginning again and hopefully you will get lucky. It does work, check out responses here in this thread for proof of that.
Where did you get the second Chocobo lure Haz?
Firsts one is purchasable from Choco Billy for 2000 Gil, the second one is available once you get the highwind and its sitting right there on the screen in the chocobo ranch to just pick up :)

After 75+ resets I'm still struggling to get a blue one. Reading comments gives me hope but geez... I'm 90 minutes into resetting here soon.

You have to select black first and then the wonderful second when you breed them, its bugged for some reason.

Have a question. By win number three the chocobo advances to B rank. This has made it much more difficult to attain the fourth win. I’m on switch and the stamina trick doesn’t seem to work on auto controls. Anyone in the same boat? One last thing... is it four wins for both male and female chocobo meaning 8 wins total? Thanks in advance! Edit: never mind its four TOTAL as described in video.
Would be curious to know about the switch version / stamina trick also as I don't have it on switch!
@@HazVsRPG after some trial and error I figured it out. Its R and Zr for those on switch. Only works in manual mode though. Had to use a little bit more sylkis greens to facilitate the tougher races but this method definitely works. Thanks for sharing!
Is it normal that Im stuck in step 3 because I keep getting female choco but I need a male, im going on 15 resets but i keep getting female choco
Very rare, but it is possible!! Try fighting some enemies to reset the rng fight 10 battles etc then try again!
Great guide just one mistake, you don't need disk 3, this can be done in disk 2 the moment Cloud re-joins the party as that is when Chocobo races unlock, ranch stable purchases are available from the point you control Tifa or Cid.

Currently stuck on step 3 where I can’t get my fourth win no matter how many times I try :/
Hold down R1 and L1 for auto stamina recovery and sprint continuously! Also make sure you set the race to auto Control so you can focus on the sprinting!
Im having the same issue. I’m on switch though. The stamina trick only seems to work on manual mode. And the chocobo doesn’t run straight in manual. This is a bit frustrating 🥴.

Ooo that doesn't sound right! Although, in saying that, I remember this one took me a few minutes longer than the rest. Definitely not an hour though?!

Stuck on step 7 I keep getting green females and when I get male it's blue instead of green..
I also did 10 battles to see if it'll fix it but it didn't.
Try moving to a different area for the 10 battles, or reloading the game completely. Remember its RNG manipulation, so if it doesn't work the first time, keep trying. It *will* work eventually. All I can tell you is that it WILL work, and these are the steps to 'be in with the chance' :D Good luck!!

Getting cid to race instead of cloud makes it alot easier
