  • This is a video of me making Jam Donuts in Blender 3.0. I wanted to set a small challenge for myself where I looked at a refernce photo once (for roughly 5 mins) and then see if I could create it in Bender without looking at the reference photo again. I started with the basic shape before doing some sculpting to get a more natural appearance. Then decided I would try to make a procedural texture for the donut instead of texture painting it. Adding sugar using Geometry Nodes and some jam, that is injected into the center, to finish the donut. Finally a quick set up of the scene with basic lighting for the render. I sped up the video for ease of watching. Hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed created it!

Is there a way we could add a powdered effect to the donut? Like one of those white powdered donuts?

I personally have not explored this. However, you could possibly achieve it by using a more simple geometric shape for the “sugar” and increase the amount of it in the geometry nodes, while also decreasing the scale of the actual mesh. You might also want to play with the material of the sugar as well, possibly taking away the transparency and using more of a white colour. You would be able to use the weight painting the same way to create some stylised variations in the powdering. Let me know if it works out the way you want 👍

@@chiknfrydblender5463 Thank you, I'll try it as soon as I can!
