dude, that looks like crap. You need to remove ALL previous caulking residue (either with alcohol or clorox with cleaner) and then after you apply caulk you need to take a wetted finger to it to give it a smooth finish. Tape was a good idea but man... I am only commenting because you were put into my youtube feed.
