  • The 2JZ engine meets the 240z for the first time, and we couldn’t be more excited! The first step to getting this Toyota powerplant familiar with the 2J-Z is to start the process of cutting the ears out of the transmission tunnel and begin mocking up motor mounts on the frame rails. Additionally, this is the first time we were able to slide the engine and transmission together as one unit and verify we have all the pieces to the puzzle to mate these two machines together. It is always nice to verify these parts fit before final assembly so that there are no surprises down the road. The Nissan CD009 transmission snugged right up to the 2JZ engine with no problem. Unfortunately, we didn’t accomplish what we wanted in it’s entirety, but we made significant progress…and that’s the important part!

    i like the magnetic camera setup. enjoyed the steadiness and the cool angles. my fav video so far.

    I personally prefer POV a little over the magnetic just because we see more of what you see as you see it. but magnetic is pretty good as well.

    The magnetic DOES give you some pretty cool shots. But if there HAD to be one or the other . . . I'd choose POV to stay. That's what makes it a "Let's Wrench"!
    That said I do appreciate you taking the time to place and aim the cameras before doing work, especially in tighter spaces.
    Like when you started attacking the "ears", if you didn't show it we could all ASSUME how it went but seeing it happen gives us that much more detail on what all you're having to do to get this particular swap up and running.

    You know you could place jack stands in the front and rear, remove front tires and use jack from the side, RIGHT?

    Hello...we met at AmpEfi. Depending on your intake manifold...you may want some space between firewall and engine. Great channel and good luck.

    Definitely prefer POV but for some things 3rd person is nice.

    Rear sump buddy, mid sump doesn't have the kink in the front of the lower pan, and is located more in the middle.

    I've got a 2jz with an R154 in my 240z, nice to see another one joining the brotherhood!

      Gooby Garage I stand corrected! What cars had the mid sump?

      No worries, would hate to see someone seek out the harder to find mid sump to find it is not the one to use. I think mid 90's toyota crown? Not exactly sure, but mid sump is definitely its own thing and quite different.

    I was looking into do this and I'm just wondering why didn't you use the 2JZ transmission?

    • @2JZdatsun
      @2JZdatsun  7 лет назад +2

      They're very hard to come by and expensive if you do find them. The CD009 is capable of upwards of 1000hp in stock form and can be had for $5-600.
