I have my eye on another wagon with the 606 I have found down here and may have to just build it myself. Maybe I'd keep it in the wagon and figure out the tranny or find something else to drop it in. I bought a pre-facelift w210 E300 (OM606 non-turbo) with the intention to eventually swap in one of these bad boys... I'm currently working on saving said load of money... It might be a while, but I'll get there!

I have a problem with an overheating engine, that's fact push the aux fan to run to low the engine temprature. What I did with my car is : I have a problem with a cylinder head. I bought a new one, the engine runs now much better and smooth. The older cylinder head was at its worse state 😝 I removed the oil Refrigerant (cooler) because 2 times it caused me water and engine oil mixture soooo bad failure. Now after asking for an advices from many mechanics I believe I have to remove the Radiator to clean in the bench. So, I hope to get some advice or a help, anything would help and thank you in advance.

Your videos in my opinion are the best on how to create diesel monsters what kind of horsepower can you get out of a OM606 with the stock internals only tinkering with the externals? For example bigger turbo bigger fuel pump etc what's the highest horsepower and torque ratings you can get out of this engine?
"The heater outlet shouldn't be blocked" - that's interesting, because that's what some bodies will do, like w124 - they do block those passages in stock configuration.
As always yall have awesome builds Question why dose the braided oil return hose hose go over the exhaust manifold, would it not collect as much heat if it went down from the turbo and under the manifold just asking 👍
What are these engines capable of HP & Torque wise reliably? I've built my old LBZ duramax and now have a 21 Powerstroke. Been throwing around the idea of building a 72 K5 Blazer with a Cummins/Allison 6 speed combo or a supercharged LS/LT gas. 500HP & 800 TQ would be a great fit and I assume these Merc diesels are much lighter than a Cummins? Also what manual trans can survive with that amount of tq? Cool stuff BTW!
He does a video weighing a 5.9 12V, these engines are half the weight supposedly. Deboss Garage does a video on these things as well. I have a '90 Suburban 2500 and this would be a good option, but price is a real concern. Junk yard 5.3 with a cam and a tune is hard to ignore.
Do you do anything with the om642 engine ? Love mine in my c class, just made a much less restrictive DIY air filter using a standard filter housing but using specialist air filtration foam. Made a nice difference and lot less restrictive, hybrid turbo next me thinks
Would you enhance a Japanese MMC 2.5L 4D56 engine to get over 200 BHP at least or achieve some unexpected,ridiculous Torque figures. I’m not an engineer, I just love cars.
4D56 engines can be fitted with a bigger plunger in the VE pump, injectors out of a 4M40-T engine. More boost up to around 20psi (safe at that). A lot depends on the rocker arm type too. There are roller rockers and slipper type. Roller rockers are the better but must have a cam to suit. The harmonic balancers can flog the crankshaft keyway out due to crankbolt not being long enuf or torqued up properly.
Some time ago I read that the government was talking about making any engine conversion have engine number and the previous vehicles details before you could register it. This is NOT the case I take it?! My dream is to put one of these in a1982 Chevy Caprice or old London taxi.....or cortina! You never seem to mention the 4 cylinder version?

@@vincentpoole7588 I've had water up past my bonnet for a continuous 2 hours when I got stuck in my 4x4, alternator was fine, was also the stock 15 year old unit at the time, depends on how much shit is actually in the water (debris etc), the only issue was airbag sensors ate shit due to the interior filling with water.
Would love this lump or simular in my sprinter cant get it running since new injectors need star diagnostics. Witch be brutal if away camping in middle of know were 🙈+ plus euro 5 lumps are gutless

Not sure what Euro rating this lump would be but I am assuming customers run these with no DOC's or DPF, so do you tailor the map to reduce smoke etc?? Big fan of big power diesels but my BMW M57 engine with no traps just stink and smoke like mad, love the engine but sick of the smell and smoke.

Alpha 1 will handle about 400hp petrol max and probably 300hp in diesel (there is no BHP) in marine terms, the oil burner having lots more low down torque, if you want to go higher power then you need to upgrade to a Bravo Drive !
Stick to a tb48, seen a nearly 3 ton GU with the tb48 smash the shit out of a Tesla at power cruise here in Australia. That's something you won't do with an OM606 unfortunately

The pump vacuum control could be adjust via an electronic boost controller with a feed back from a wideband.

Does this suit a 2007 GU patrol RHD? I’m from Australia and have a TB48 patrol but wouldn’t mind exploring other options just in case
Having patrols here in Africa, I would suggest searching, but add turbo or supercharged TB48 and you might change your mind about going diesel
