Fun fact, in college someone gave me one of those huge bags of footlong twizzlers for secret Santa, the week before finals. I ate all of them in just a couple days and got a kidney stone, still love twizzlers tho.

In my hometown (in Iowa), the local convenience store "Chubs", would let kids exchange a tootsie pop wrappers (with the star archer) for a fresh tootsie pop. I am pretty sure he just threw them away and was happy to let us have a free candy every so often. Likely he had cases of them that he sold for decades. Also to note, he was the only shop in town who would let you do this. All of the shops with gas pumps wouldn't have any of that.

Oddly I don't associate it with any holidays. For me it's something that you get in the summer from ice cream trucks. Specifically the '70s/'80s design from before the Nestle purchase that came with three flavors and two sticks. Not bad, not great.
Fun Fun Dip Fact: Fun Dip/Lik-M-Aid, SweeTarts, and Pixy Stix aren't just similar, but are exactly the same candy in different formats. SweeTarts were created to be a less messy version.

I keep my list in 2 different categories with multiple sub-classes of candies
Fruity: Hard, soft, chewy, crunchy, gummy, taffy, sour, sweet, spicy.
Chocolate: Melty, minty, peanut-buttery, solid chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel.
The worst candy is candy corn, hands down.
Note: Gummy and Chewy are 2 different types of candy. You wouldn't say that a jelly bean is gummy, you would say that it is crunchy and chewy (or soft and chewy, depending on the candies you get.)
chewy is taffy or sticky inside like jelly beans and gummy is gummy

The fun dip used to be branded under “Wonka”. But they dropped it I think due to licensing issues.
I think all the Wonka candies have dropped the Wonka branding now.

When I was a kid, we brought a wrapper with the archer on it to the local gas station and told the clerk about the promotion. Total sincerity, we absolutely believed it. He gave us a free sucker. I still think about that sweet guy now who played along with us despite it being a bogus rumor,
He might've not known it wasnt true. Lots of people get away with shit just because they say something confidently enough. Can't tell you how many times people have walked into the kennel I work at (we're still closed to the public) with the confidence of a manager and barely a glance at me, and I always just assume they're supposed to be there since I don't wanna argue.

On month 5 of going to sleep with Brutalfoods videos and I gotta say, nothing is more soothing than Ian meandering his way through grab bags of candy.
When I was a kid I actually got a few free tootsie roll pops from certain stores when I took em in. I'm assuming those few individuals that actually honored that rumor were just being nice and figured why not.

I love Ian’s videos because he puts so much effort and care into them. He doesn’t have to have fun backgrounds, but he does. He didn’t have to do those beautiful Lazy Susan shoots of the candies, but he did. I think most people would have just sat at the table and talked without ever changing the background or camera angle or anything. Keep up the good work Ian.
He has a lazy energy while he actually puts a lot of work in his videos.

I just realized some of the background videos are playing backwards
Also, he leaves in his mistakes. Stutter, having something fall off, technical errors, not knowing something, things others would edit out or re-record he not only leaves them, but plays it as a joke. I think that gives his videos a very natural feeling.
