That electrical tape will be there until he sells it.....🤣
“Sad state of mechanics “….
The unethical ones, would put the tape, and still charge for the rebuilt tranz.
I NEED YOU TO MOVE BACK TO HOUSTON 😔😔😔
@@streetsmart1164 tape, the poor man's rebuild, then the ssss, ssss, of the spray paint can....
@scottykilmer Hu how are you? I was told by a friend of mine who is a fan of yours as well he tells me that you are in rhodeisland for a while and I could come scan my car with you?is that a possibility?iliv3 I. Rhodeisland aswell
Amazing that Scotty was the only Mechanic who could find and fix the Honda with TAPE.
Car owner: “$200? Just to stick on a piece of tape? Robbery!” Mechanic: “No, sir, I only charged you ten dollars for the tape. The rest is for knowing where to put it”!
Especially when he's the one that broke it while putting in a new Air filter. 🤣 Just look at him yank on that brittle dried out plastic. 🙄
Just checked wife's 06 Accord and it is broken in the same place. Talk about great timing for this video!
Coincidentally, my 06 accord's got broken the same place a few months ago, I duck taped it but it still tripped a code 2 months later, then eventually I had to replace it with a new hose
My husband found that problem after driving him crazy looking, new 16.00 part fixed it, 2009 murano
A dealer would have soaked that guy for a grand. Scotty to the rescue!😊😊😊
Dealers are the new PSYCHIATRISTS!
I used to have a mechanic 20+ years ago that was just as genuine and honest as Scotty. Having a great mechanic is so underrated.
Praise Jesus Christ! HALLELUJAH AND AMEN!!!
great example of simply being consciously aware while checking your issues.... something everyone needs to remember.....
I am happy for him that you solved the problem Scotty. On his behalf, "Thank you very much!"
He can buy oem parts online from different Honda dealers at reasonable prices which is what I do.
What are good websites?
The editing during the engine work is awesome.
I've had the exact same problem with my honda, after two decades the intake pipe teared, fixed it with liquid gasket sealer .
Wife's 2k crv did the same thing a few weeks ago.

Thank you Scotty - You are America's Auto Hero - Cheers !
Every time you ring that bell I think of Blazing Saddles... "The sheriff is near!"
I had a similar frustrating issue with my Ridgeline, especially in hot and humid weather, gosh it was a such a sluggish dawg in mid-summer. 3 shops couldn't figure it out. I ended up (kinda by accident) finding a little hole in a vacuum line, so I wrapped it with electrical tape. Of course, that "surprised" the computer at first, but it adjusted. It ended up solving the sluggish issue, and the tape is still holding several years later.
Scotty, you know every trick in the book. You're a genius.
Suspicious comments are suspicious. How much does Scotty pay you?
Scotty wrote the book......
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 Scotty pays me 0.
@@ThomasKing19933 You must be one of the few near the opening section of his comments.
Very much so
That’s a better accord than the ones they have now
Great job scotty keep up the good work
The venerable Honda K24 engine!
Yep, simple is so often overlooked! I’m very much like you. You might remember me from my Mercedes Benz white SLK300 a few years back? Enjoy RI!
I bought a Land Cruiser at an auction with the same problem. Everyone thought it was a transmission problem but I took a chance and bought it because I thought differently. Eventually found a mechanic who noticed the vacuum leak and it ran perfectly after a small repair. Sold it 3 years later for the same price I purchased it for.
Good work Scotty, most simple fix can give joy back again! It shows we are not monkeys in any shape or form!
Good one Scotty! You still got it! I absolutley love Honda's ( two wheels and four) and I wrench on my own vehicles. I am glad I don't have to withstand 20 mechanics not finding that! But asmuch as i love Hondas, all three of my last Odysseys have had a split in the intake duct hose! Don't companies like Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda have Tech Bulletins where a certified mechanic can open a case to be read by the engineering teams? This problem is stupid-easy to fix by going to EPDM, silicone, or Viton. It wouldn't cost them adollar more thanwhatever they are using. But 20 Rhode Island mechanics should be embarrassed!
Good catch by you Mr Kilmer
When doing routine maintenance I always look around the car for something unusual
A leak in fluid or air or whatever
Excellent video
And how about those swines that sold him the new motor mounts😮
Scotty put the final nail in that intake tube when he ripped it off 😆
Situations like that were the times that I loved because the customer would be so happy with my service for so little money
Hello From Arizona Scotty!!! Love your content and look forward to more to come!!
Scotty is the only real test driver on RUclips and man who know cars 😅. Thats no doubt.
I'm sure they are Tickled Pink from You Fixing that car with Gorilla Tape of All Things😂
Ur the BEST😊
Thanks for the information ❤😊
Scotty, I absolutely agree about the teeny tiny engines with turbos in big cars.
IMO, the power needed to move these hunks of metal must mean that the engines are in a constant state of stress.
Plain old common sense would tell you that they are going to fail way too early. 👍
I have two of those same cars, both with the 2.4 and the 5sp manual transmission. Love 'em!
Good time to clean the throttle body, and MAF too. Do a transmission drain and fill, and replace the pcv valve.
My Honda crv 2015 has the exact same problem. Thanks Scotty.🙂
21st mechanic! Golden!
Well done again Ur ta best
Get in the zone with the commercial account STP air
Filter
Scotty U R amazing
Outstanding!
What are we going to do without you
Scotty is hilarious!
Also, if he used aftermarket motor mounts you will still get the vibration. Change all mounts with honda oem mounts. I've had two of these, just sold one with 200k miles no issues with vibrations after the mounts were chnaged.
That is a very good K24 engine was also in Acura TSX which Euro Accord
My favorite Honda engine! That's exactly where my intake hose broke on my old Honda, must be a weak spot in that elbow.
Lovely to see Ganpati idol on the dash of the car. Ganpati bapa moriya❤
I stay off the NYS thruway. Drive on the Taconic State Parkway, no commercial vehicles because the road is so narrow they don't fit.
Shoo Goo adhesive sealant works great on automotive rubber parts.
I thought about using silicone sealer (e.g. Silastic Automotive) to patch, but there are probably other weak points in the air tunnel. A new tunnel is best unless it costs 1.7 arms + 2 legs.
The GOAT!
True, moving to Tennessee and other smaller locations are great. For now. However, like anything and everywhere else as more people move to these ‘comfortable’ places eventually overcrowding will become an issue, then crime, increased need for more resources. As a means to compensate, increase in taxes, salaries, decreasing services and resources. 🤔🤷🏼🙄
Hawaii also has some of the worst roads. There’s a bunch out here with some potholes you may want to avoid, as that can do wonders for your suspension system.
Places like Osceola county Florida
Great catch Scotty! I never had any rubber duct problems on my 25 yr old BMW. (Lots of broken plastic stuff, but hey). Hondas are over rated, had one wasn't impressed. Still like my CB750!
Fuel, air, spark, vacuum lines, good battery, fluids clean. Ok, that's a good start.
Had that on a Solara, but here in Commiefornia, it won't pass smog visual inspection with any tape, so you have to replace the part.
Scotty, i have a 2007 vibe, and i got a rattle in the front end nobody can diagnose. I've replaced the catalytic, front lower A Arms, driver's side axle, and struts. My mechanic now says it is the transaxle. I love my car, live in Vancouver, Canada, 325,00km, and maintain it regularly. The only code is the catalytic O2 flow reading, and the frame and body are in great shape. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks.
Great job finding that crack in the intake house
I have a 2001 rav 4 289000 mile has trans temp sensor issue, it run great though.
I only use it to get around town
I have been told to spray stuff in the engine area to see what area changes the idle. Would that have worked on this?
I am going to look at my car😂. You are my Buddha, Scotty!
Have an 07 accord with this engine. Had the same issue and only found it when I have the starter replaced and the mechanic found that broken and changed it. Seems like more often those don't last long
I had a volvo xc90 and i got it used... it was having strange issues where the cruise control at highway speeds would randomly shut off then go into limp mode. I cleaned then replaced the mass air sensor and a few other things, and kept doing it. I was looking at a schematic for my engine and saw a part i didn't recognize..... it was a scoop that directed the air into the intake, and mine was missing! Got one and put it in and problem was fixed.
I usually keep a roll of Gorilla Tape in my car, another in my garage, and a third smaller one in my tool bag. That stuff is amazing and far better than electrical tape.
I moved to Tennessee from Maryland 30 years ago. Best decision I ever made.
Some Honda's did have transmission problems
He had him worried haha! 🤣
If you have that much trouble getting to the air filter. Do you even need to check it? That should tell you it needs changed
Scottie, I have a $2005 Dodge County, minimany of them. When I run they are conditionit has a tendency of jerking a lot when I'm idling when. The car is in gear when I put it in park or neutral. It stopped when I accelerate. It's fine just when I'm stopped at a light with my foot on the brake. Feeling this jump and hesitation in the motor what should I chat? Please help thank you
Scotty tell that guy with the Ford escape he hast to escape from owning it.
Toyota RAV4 is the number one SUV out there right now and for the 13 years
Lol best vid to start the dayjust lost everything to a escape. Piston rings shot, trannie shot, manifold had a horrible spot to have a vac leak. An that's only the stuff I couldn't do myself. Say another 1000-1200 in parts underneath. Lost everything. So got a 94 stranger n yes she is better of the. The 2012 for 12gs. $1300
Would you have disconnected the battery to reset the computer?
You are the man Scotty
wow...my 2013 cruze 159666 kms on it still kicking, original brakes, 2nd water pump.
Tennessee is great, only caveat is the tax on food, which we dont have in nearby Kentucky.
Scotty what model number for your autel
Scotty a scholar a gentleman and a mechanic!
The handling and the ride quality can be improved by changing the air in the tires. It probably hasn't been done in over 100,000 miles! 🤣
And it’s probably winter air not spring air.
How do you do that?
That's a good time to change that tire air filter, too!
Got the same issue, with a shitty hard plastic hose, I have no idea who came up with that genius idea, it broke after I changed my air filter the 2nd time because well it´s stiff. My car is 12 years old now and I still drive with the stupid thing broken, just sealed it up really really good with special tape.
Scotty is in Rhode Island!
Where?
Those according ducts get dry and brittle. You have to be careful went removing them to get to another part. I cracked one and it cost me $150 dollars at the parts store.
At 2:46 I see a split in the intake tube from the filter box to the engine. Likely air leak there Scotty!
Super Scotty!!!
Move from blue cities and states from someone who knows. $$$$$$$
5:37 I think this Honda might not have the latest and greatest air\fuel ratio sensors if there was no check engine light or code. This Honda probably has the older oxygen sensors but you would think it would have detected a lean condition with the unmetered air from that crack in the intake tube.
I remember when the air filter box had a lid on it that you could take off all by itself to replace the air filter and not have to remove the air tubing to get it off first.
Dude, you know any mechanics in the Nashville are that have your mindset?
Ya ok
Hello Scotty, I bought a 2024 Toyota Corolla with a 2000cc engine and a CVT transmission. When starting, a strange sound comes from the side of the engine. Another problem is that when I drive a car at low speeds and lift my foot on the accelerator, a sound comes from the side of the engine. The sound is like there is a gap between the accelerator and the transmission.
Look at my page I have registered it
The professor is in..
Come back to Texas Scotty
Love you Scotty😂🤣
Turbo?
You can't see through a red air filter. But that one didn't look dirty
To hell with ny. Thats why i moved to north carolina. LOVE IT.
I can't move to Tennessee because I am in Canada and I don't make enough money to legally move the border. I already tried once.
Tennessee just keeps getting more enticing
How much is a transmission, scotty?
Scotty: "Thousands and THOUSANDS."
Those particular Honda's were notorious for air intake leaks on that hose. It's a cheap part that dry rots over time.
In this Hondas case, Krack kills
One of the best engine Honda has ever made
can see that tear on that air duct at 1:30 how did he miss it🤦
Yeah got the wife a major upgrade by dropping our Santa Fe sport and trading up for a v6 highlander. No more Korean cars in my family. All Japanese vehicles from now on… except for Nissan
