  • In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Genoa/Genova to Turin/Torino Porta Nuova along the Turin-Genoa Railway in 4K/60 frames per second.
    The Turin-Genoa railway line is a major Italian rail line, connecting the cities of Turin and Genoa. It is 169 km long. It was opened between 1848-1853. It is a standard gauge line.
    Electrification - 3000 V DC.
    The line was completed on 18 December 1853. In order to cross the Apennines the 3,259 meter-long Giovi Tunnel was built, which at the time was the longest in the world.

      @@bruno68berretta53 Con ampi raggi di curvatura che consentono oggi lunghi tratti percorribili a 180 Km/h in rango C. Per dare una misura della lungimiranza di questo progetto, nel 1845, quando venne avviata la costruzione di questa linea, le locomotive più veloci disponibili facevano al massimo 65 Km/h. In pratica questa linea aveva, armamento e segnalamento a parte, prestazioni uguali alle cosiddette linee AV attualmente in costruzione tra Napoli e Bari e tra Catania e Palermo.

      però fra Arquata Scrivia andava via storica a Ronco Scrivia, poi a Busalla e alla Galleria dei Giovi col 35 per mille-Genpva Sampierdarena-Genova PP , per cui nel 1898 fu fatta la "Succursale" diretta con pendenze al 14 per mille Arquata Scrivia-galleria Borlasca-Ronco Scrivia-galleria Mignanego-Bivio Fegino-Bivio Succursale-galleria Granarolo-Genova PP.

    superb video as always, quick fact is that there are actually two double track rail lines in the Tortona-Genova section of the route, the slightly newer Linea Succursale dei Giovi which is the one the train travels on in the video and the slightly older line which was part of the original Torino-Genova and now serves more local traffic and hence has more local stations, currently a third route consisting mainly of base tunnel is being built to carry high speed trains and freight as part of the Genoa-Milan-Basel-Cologne-Rotterdam TEN-T corridor which already has projects such as the Gotthard and Ceneri base tunnels complete, project completion is estimated to be march 2026

      The older line vas built between 1845 and 1853. The succursale was built between 1889 and 1922.

    A bit of information, when the train comes to a dead stop at lingotto station, if you look to the right of the station sign ( the sign on the right of your view) you can see the roof top race track of the old fiat factory made famous in the Michael Caine movie THE ITALIAN JOB

    Bonjour et merci pour cette excellente réalisation. Je reste admiratif de la construction des tunnels certainement creusés à la poudre noire puisque ni le TNT, ni la dynamite n'étaient arrivés sur le marché et les perforatrices à air comprimés vinrent plus tard.Ces vidéos complètent ma toute petite expérience du rail en Italie. (Banlieue de Rome et Arona-Milano l'été dernier (andata et ritorno comme on dit chez vous). Grazie mille 😊

    another fantastic trip, thanks , you're super! I'm from Genova and I'd like inform you, if I may, that this railroad was build in 1889 and was the second railroad, called the "succursale". The ancient railroad is that you indicate in the presentation.The new line was build because the older were too steep, but this is still working for regional trains.     Hi, thanks for this beautiful cabride! At least the first section, through the mountains, is very beautiful, with many tunnels and viaducts. Drove there also, on the A7 motorway, saw the railway from it in many places, but was very nice to see the route from the perspective of the cab rider. Greetings from a traveller from Germany!

    Due segnalazioni prima e dopo Alessandria a mio avviso non precise: prima di Alessandria la linea "from Milan" sarebbe "from Milan/Piacenza" e dopo il Tanaro, la linea "to Arona" sarebbe più corretto indicarla "to Novara/Domodossola". Arona è solo una stazione lungo la linea per Domodossola.

    In my humble opinion, the most interesting double-track railway line in Italy, especially for the southern ramp of the Giovi, with the magnificent horizontal plane of the Giovi.     I am seeing heavy pixelation every 5 seconds throughout. I think this may be a symptom of key-frame exhaustion in the MPEG-4 video encoder. Is this from your camera or from Y.T. re encoding your footage ?

    Great video as usual, thank you. I have to notice that immediatly passing Arquata Scrivia station you have an other line on the right. That line goes to Milan, so the great majority of passenger trains to Milan switch line exactly in Arquata Scrivia, not in Novi Ligure as could seems from video.

Comunque mi permetto di correggere alcuni commenti; La motrice titolare del treno ICN 704 dei filati in oggetto è una E402b; Avevo scritto a Rail Relaxion e mi aveva detto che la prima tratta da Reggio Calabria e Sapri, non può essere pubblicata, perchè un insetto si è spiaccicato in corrispondenza dell'obbiettivo e ha reso quella parte inguardabile. Per il resto ricordo che la parte da Sapri a Torino è visibile completamente. Faccio inoltre notare che gli ICN passano da Roma Ostiense.

    La linea che hai percorso, però, è la Succursale dei Giovi, datata 1889, che un percorso meno acclive della linea del 1854, via Busalla. La galleria fra Mignanego e Ronco Scrivia è lunga più di 8 km

    Questo filmato, ottimo sotto ogni punto di vista, si riferisce chiaramente a qualche hanno passato, vista la presenza di E 633, prodotti dell'autarchia di certo messer Moretti a cui il nome Siemens faceva venireb l'orticaria ! E' sempre lui l'artefice della "linea snella" per cui sono stati tagliati ricoveri, smistamenti ed alleggerita la linea ogni dove !

    La ligne est très très belle (succession de Tunnels et Viaduc. Franchement rien à redire ☀️. Par contre le coup de la GoPro dehors… la qualité est superbe mais 🌬🔊😮. C’est le seul bémol.

    Is the rapid blurring every 2-3 seconds due to my television, chromecast, internet provider, or wifi router? I do not experience this problem on other rail channels.

      @rockingtr1 I do not get that kind of blurring, I would say that it is an internet connection or even the TV settings. These videos are made in 4K quality and 60 frames per second, which is a very high resolution and for smooth viewing requires faster internet, sometimes even oscillations of the internet velocity can be the problem. I hope that you will manage to see the videos without interruptions.

    all'uscita da Genova P.P. in alto a sinistra sembra che ci si trovi a 113 Mt. di altitudine: in realtà al massimo saranno una decina, la stazione è praticamente quasi sul mare.

    Una puntualizzazione: al 1:30:21 indichi TO Bardonecchia; in realtà quello che si vede sulla sinistra è l'imbocco della linea del passante ferroviario destinata al servizio ferrovia metropolitano (SFM), la linea storica TO - Bardonecchia in realtà passa sopra tramite un "viadotto" al 1:30:37

      @fabar72 various times, yes. And sometimes the lights are just very weak, so my camera does not capture the light at all.

      i vecchi macchinisti dicevano "le luci servono per essere visti, non per vedere". Dopotutto il percorso è quello, le rotaie, e un treno per fernarsi ha bisogno a seconda della velocità di centinaia e centinaia di metri. Comunque le nuove locomotive hanno il faro centrale che illumina circa 100 metri avanti, che però serve più per vedere nel tunnel ma non certo per una fermata improvvisa. E nelle riprese filmate non sempre si vede.

      @sergiocallegari509 The speed can be not accurate because I use GPS data, especially when there are various tunnels on the way, the data can be less accurate. It is the same as the height. I just checked on Wikipedia, and the height of Torino is 239m. So, the data shown gives us an idea about the speed and elevation. I personally think that it is nice to have an idea about those data along the way.

      Sì, recente rispetto all'originale (che è del 1853) che passava per Isola del Cantone. La cosiddetta "Succursale" è stata aperta a più riprese tra il 1889 (per il tratto tra Ronco Scrivia e Genova Sampierdarena) ed il 1922 (tratta Arquata - Ronco). Poi nel 1962 è stata realizzata la variante via Granarolo che permette di arrivare a Genova P.P. evitando il passaggio da Sampierdarena.
