The videos of this talented Slovenian RUclips contributor gave me the idea to resume traveling by train in Europe, particularly in Italy. I want to hear again "Allontanarsi dalla linea gialla!" By the way, I last traveled by train in Italy in 2012. I see substantial improvement in the design and look of the stations, the tracks, the power lines, the engines and passenger cars.

Sadly, the construction dates of some of those tunnels indicate that this would have been an impossible journey in 1995. I say that, since in that year I was working as an intern on an archaeological dig in Osnabrück during my studies as a part-time mature undergraduate in Geography with German at the University of Derby and one of my colleagues on the dig came from Udine, so this otherwise might have been the first stage of her crossing the Alps towards Germany to get to Osnabrück. It was a fairly dramatic journey, nevertheless, so thanks for this.

@@RailRelaxation You're welcome. Since I posted that comment I have found the Deutsche Bahn rail map of 1995 that I still have with a map of the railways of Europe on the reverse and it appears that the Udine-Tarvisio route was apparently identical to what it is today, but it is very small-scale, so it's difficult to tell the detail.

But I think that it gives us a good feeling about the speed and elevation changes along the route.

Judging by the position of the camera and sound from the microphone, I suppose your equipment is fixed somewhere outside… Don't you fear for it ? and how do you do to get this sound (windy, but not garbled or polluted by wake and turbulence)?

Cab signalling (BAcc, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blocco_Automatico_a_Correnti_Codificate ) ordered an emergency stop due to transmission failure (AC, assenza codice) or simply acknowledgement timeout (there was a temporary speed restriction, restrictive signalling codes must be acknowledged within a due time).

Seconds before the braking there is a board announcing a temporary speed restriction, a yellow hexagon with two yellow lights arranged on a diagonal... I wonder if they had some issue with the temporary balises placed between the rails to enforce the restriction. The actual restricted speed section is in the tunnel just after the viaduct, it begins with a yellow rectangle with two horizontal yellow lights and ends with a green rectangle with a single green light.
