  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to the second channel. In today’s video, I’ll be doing a front split training session and showing you my approach to these sessions. I like to break it down into Bits, Pieces, and The Whole.
First, the Bits: this is the warm-up phase. I focus on exercises that target my hip flexors, quads, and hamstrings, which are crucial for achieving a front split. A good warm-up is essential to prepare these muscles and reduce the risk of injury.
Next, we move on to the Pieces. These are active stretches that closely mirror the final stretch I’m aiming for. Think of them as building blocks. In the video, you’ll see me doing supported split holds. These stretches actively engage my muscles, but I don’t hold the position for too long. It’s all about gradually increasing flexibility while maintaining control.
Finally, we get to The Whole: the front split itself. This is where I fully stretch into the front split position, and I even push past it a bit to challenge myself safely. It’s important to approach this part with caution and listen to your body to avoid overextending.

Over the last few months I've switched from 3x30 second holds to 2x60-90 seconds. The first couple of times it was hard, but I find it quite relaxing now. Endurance comes pretty quick. I never do oversplits for more than 30 seconds as I feel like it puts too much pressure on my knees, especially in side splits, but I am pretty heavy. :)

The longer hold times are super beneficial for more advanced people! I definitely under-utilize longer times
