    This game just got delivered, and wow... It is just beautiful! Really impressed. I have yet to play it, since it just got here and I've been working, but from what I can see it looks like a solid game. Thanks for the playthrough and teach (even though this was a prototype, it's still helpful). Have an excellent weekend!

    CORRECTIONS:
    1:03:57 - I forgot their Philosopher effect was active. This means they should actually keep that tile since it's their first collapsed tile this turn.
    1:04:29 - That effect was already enabled since there was an active artifact in the stack.

    Great vid! It really ramps up the deeper you dig down which I feel works great with the theme

    1:04:28 the philosopher effect is already active because it's an active artifact.

    Thanks Jon for an excellent explanation. Main issues i currently have with the game were pointed out by others: Knowing the artifacts location during setup and possible confusion while tracking the remaining action points. Also, there's no way of knowing at the moment how balanced are the different capabilities of the guilds

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +1

      I doubt knowledge of where artifacts will become a factor, unless you play with people who have photographic memory.

      @@JonGetsGames you're right. I guess the main issues are tracking the actions and guilds balance. But that was an excellent playthrough

    I wonder if players will lose track of whether they have taken 3 actions. The game should maybe include a second token or a second track so that players don't have to remember how many action points they started with. There's also the potential issue of losing track of the "first time on your turn" abilities.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      I suppose so, though the turns are generally quick so there is less time to remember everything you'd already done.

    Could be wrong but I think that the excavating at 17:09 costs 5 AP: 3 AP (excavate) + 1 AP (one tile is covering) + 1 additional AP because it is a Nunatak tile (spend 1 additional AP to remove this tile)

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +2

      You don't have to spend extra AP to collapse a Nunatak tile, just to excavate one.

    18:40 This is one of the main concerns I have about this game and why I'm second guessing my pledge - during the setup, you know exactly where each and what type of tile you have underneath and you know exactly where to dig.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      I doubt I'd remember where any tiles were after setup, but I have a pretty average memory.

      During set up, you can have alternating players set up each level and then rotate the board around so that no one really knows where anything is. and this is what the designers said about 3 days ago on a kickstarter comment about the tiles:
      "However, the 2nd (intermediate) artifact level will not indicate on the front side whether it is active or not.
      The 1st artifact level (surface) will only be made of inactive artifacts.
      The 3rd level (deep) will only be made up of active artifacts.
      In addition, it should be noted that each type of artifact exists in 3 different variants (each with its own illustration) and this information is not present on the front of the tiles."
      Hope this information helps!

    Now that the game is officially out, the rules have changed a bit. Keep that in mind while watching the video.

    At 1:04:00 doesn't green get to keep the tile cause they have the active philosopher tile?

      Yep, good catch. I'd forgotten that their Philosopher effect was active from that one active artifact.

    The layered tile setup is cool, but this is not my type of game in the end, I think.
    Also, if the table is jostled this will be a nightmare...

    • @AwkwardTurtle10
      @AwkwardTurtle10 3 года назад

      They will actually release a magnetised board so that the board will stick together way better! So if you have a wavy surface you could still play it :)

      its fair if it isnt your type of game and how hard do you jostle your table? :p

    • @nickmozzetti327

      aits a magnetized board, jostling does nothing and with 2 people you could actually carry it all around tiled up

    Hey great tutorial! Some of the rules were a little unclear to me when I read the rule book, and you seem to clear those up nicely. I did have a question for you. In the version I'm playing of this game, there's a "city" of some type--a board where all the guilds share a place to stack tiles. Is that a different version than the game you have? I just wasn't sure what that city piece had to do with the game mechanics. Like, how you "validate" tiles by moving them to that city area or whatever, versus what you're doing with the request cards. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      I was told that all elements to the "city" weren't a part of this prototype. That's all I know about those parts of the game, they didn't have it explained in my rulebook either.

    • @nuncapasaran9374
      @nuncapasaran9374 3 года назад

      @@JonGetsGames Gotcha, thanks for the reply! I was playing a Tabletop Simulator version. Best I can tell, you basically have to send your artifacts to the city in order for them to count toward your score at the end. But it's a little unclear whether you have to still place one on the request card to "validate" it and then place extras on the city to score. The rulebook in this version doesn't really clarify that. But anyway thanks again for the video! I look forward to buying this game.

      This was my only experience with the game, and it was not a "real" game since it was setup for instructional purposes. So I can't speak to how the game plays with others.

    43:45 Because you have a discount of 5, not 4 - does that mean that you can gain an action point, lol?... I know, probably not.

  • @nickmozzetti327
    @nickmozzetti327 Год назад

    ai think i caught about 45 incorrect actions based on the actual released game rules. The big ones are no gaining action points from activated artifact tiles or collapsed camps and you can only carry 3 archeologists max and you may only take 2 actions per turn not 3.
