I must say this looks like a very solid worker placement/set collection game, not necessarily groundbreaking but games don't always have to break the mold. They just have to do what they set out to do well. Excellent video as always.
Glad to see this finally arrived. It had quite the journey! I liked the fast-forwarded playthrough. Hallertau has some crazy escalation and it was nice to see that play out in the final round. I am quite looking forward to this one, it has a lot of mechanics I like. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is the luck element in cards. I feel it's less of a problem than in other Uwe games because a) you have way more cards and draw way more so you're more likely to get something that works well and b) the way advancement works you are already encouraged to have some of _everything_ because that makes pushing the craft houses easier, so you're less likely to get something that just doesn't work for you at all (whereas in Feast for Odin you may get a card that has to do with a part of the game you are entirely ignoring). Still, less of a problem is still a problem. Otherwise, this looks like a game I will want to get as soon as possible. Correction: at 1:02:04 the yellow player doesn't spend the flax and hide, the card has an arrow. Edit: 1:07:26 1:15:25 You add the 'value' of each field, not just the number of fields! So, for example, a level 5 field is worth 1 endgame point. So the level of the field does matter for endgame scoring. (I had to double check with the rulebook myself)

That's 10+ games. We have another person who has won every game (or come in second vs the first person I talked about) so I do think there is a ton of room for skill in this game.

A really good video, which, paradoxically, made me less interested in getting the game for myself. I do mean that the video is great and really shows how the game plays out, but it turns out the game is far more fiddly than I expected. So I guess for me it is almost a public service announcement :-)
Your fields get counted based on the row they are in, for the end divide by 5 scoring, wouldn't have changed the scores much, but worth noting. Love the game, good playthrough.

When I saw this my first thought was, “huh, looks like a spiritual successor to Agricola”. But the design philosophy couldn’t be more different; Agricola is a game of few workers and very tight resources. This seems to have gone completely the other way - lots of workers, tons of resources, and loads of ways to get more! I personally think I would love it, but looks a bit heavy for my group. Great tutorial as ever, Jon! How did you find this format? I liked the way you skipped through a few rounds but still played the full game; I preferred that to your other tutorial vids where you just show the first three rounds and then end there. Would love to see more of this format!
I'm still playing around with how I do tutorials these days, since I no longer make full playthroughs for every game. At the moment I am varying the format with each game, depending on how that game plays. This one felt like it deserved to have the last round shown so I did a fast forward to get there. Other games have end-game states that aren't that much different from early game states and with those I'll likely still just show the first few rounds. I'm not set in stone on any of these things though, and I do hope to do slightly more fastforward full playthroughs like this in the future (when it seems to make sense).

Yellow player had 35 goods and fields. That would have given them 7 points. You count the value of the fields.
Yeah, I did get that wrong. I have corrections for things like this in the Klingon subtitles, I suggest turning those on whenever it's possible.
