    Thank you for Full Playthrough! I understand that this is not always feasible, but this is what I look forward the most on your videos.

    Looks like a lot of fun. Really appeals to the lego lover in me as well.

    That's a very long scoring explanation looking at timestamps ;)
    Thanks for the great vid, as always.

      Ha, yeah. I guess I could modify that.

    At 20:17, you indicate that a player can deny to pay the extorted resource in which case they add 1 to their Disaster Track. But the rules clearly say you advance 2 spaces on the Disaster Track if you refuse to pay (or don't have any resources to pay).

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      Good catch, I did get that wrong. I've added corrections, thanks!

  • @JonGetsGames
    @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +1

    CORRECTIONS:
    20:13 - Denying an extortion moves you TWICE on the disaster track, not once.
    22:08 - Dice lost due to disaster are removed from the game, not sent back to the supply.

    very nice play through Jon. At 1:29:00 the Orange player could have put the university to the right of the market and still only blocked one spot for the market. That should have left room for the farm in the lower left corner. only 1 point difference, I think that illustrates one of the key parts of this game, which is being able to envision how things can fit together.

    No Klingon subs, the auto generate is on. This game does look fun, though! Simple appearance but strategic play. The extortion phase has the potential to wreck friendships like Mario Party, though😂

    • @JonGetsGames

      Jeez, I totally blanked on adding the Klingon subs. Thanks for pointing that out, I have finally fixed this.

    At 22:09, you indicate that dice you lose due to disaster should be returned to the supply. The rules state that lost dice are returned to the game box.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      I tried to find this in the rulebook but wasn't successful. Do you remember which section it was in?

    • @LarrySchneider
      @LarrySchneider 3 года назад

      @@JonGetsGames It's mentioned in the Round End section on page 9: "If you had to remove any of those buildings (e.g., due to a disaster), be sure to return the corresponding dice now to the game box."

      Thank you for following up Larry, I do see that rule now that you pointed it out. I've added corrections, thanks again!

      @@JonGetsGames Of course. Thank YOU for the video itself. Making the video is the hard part. Watching it and pointing out corrections is a piece of cake compared to that. I know that all too well.

    How you painted the board? It looks awesome!!!

    • @deuxvega
      @deuxvega Год назад

      I was wondering that too, mine are all yellow. Then I went to BGG and all I saw were those black painted parts ... so I started to doubt I had a misprint, but much later in the gallery they also show some full yellow ones, so I guess that's the default.

    Around the 28 minute mark, I think the die result that shows food / stone, is used for *both*, not a choice. But I could be wrong. I know that people have been confused by this in other playthroughs.

    • @accessyourinnerlight971
      @accessyourinnerlight971 3 года назад

      It looks like this has been clarified in the rules as a definite "Or". Would you be willing to do a playthrough of this with the Rivers & Roads expansion?

      I like to use this game to set up fantasy villages for a Sword and Sorcery roleplaying game. The knowledge level represents the technology level of the settlement: 1-5: Barbarian, 6-10: Classical (Roman), 11-15 (Dark Age), and each disaster point removes 1d100 population from the village. Points represent population (the same increment), only I do max it out at level 25 Settlement. I am still trying to bring in Sorcerers somehow, but I figured that religious buildings might represent a shaman/sorcerer. I also like to define the trade goods based on the settlement's land type.

    An interesting game - it's maybe just because of Rome and Roll, but I kind of perceive this as a roll and write with components instead of writing. That said, that very comparison makes me think worse of this game, because Rome and Roll - in my view - does much more interesting things with this sort of mechanic. Era does have a push your luck element as well, but I am not a big fan of those, and overall I prefer R&R's more interesting (and positive) player interactivity and combo mechanics to this game.

      You’re right about Era: Medieval Age being a roll & write game. Era is Matt Leacock’s reimplementation of Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age.

    With two skulls, you don't get one disaster point for 1 clustered building? It doesn't say pairs of clustered buildings, at least on the card you're showing.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      I think you do lose 1 point per clustered building, can you tell me the time when I seem to have done this incorrectly?

  • @MortlachNL
    @MortlachNL 3 года назад +1

    I guess it is a matter of honesty but not being allowed to reroll skulls while at the same time hiding the fact that you rolled skulls seems like asking for trouble for players who can't resist the temptation

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +1

      Yep, you have to trust that you play with people who don't cheat. I like to think my friends are trustworthy in that respect.

    • @MortlachNL
      @MortlachNL 3 года назад

      @@JonGetsGames Absolutely, wouldn;t play with people where that was a genuine concern, but I recently saw a reddit post about cheating and some people seem to just revel in it...

    Great tutorial as usual. Gameplay aside, am I the only one that thinks aesthetically this is a horrible looking game?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      I don't have an issue with the aesthetics, but that is a very subjective area.
