    Each time I see more, I'm more convinced. Love the synergies between the market, heirlooms and investments. The control over successors seems difficult, as per real life. I liked the underhanded abilities having capped effects to reign them in. Loads to love here. Was worried about getting bumped off legendary figures, but appears to be handled okay. A little cut-throat in places, but looks really fun.

    Outstanding walk through. Thanks so much for putting this out. We've been really enjoying this game so far. The best feature (imho) is before the game even starts: The above board vs. Underhanded choice is genius. All underhanded characters is a VERY different game vs all above board. And having a mix of both in a given game adds just the right amount of chaos. A tough crunchy puzzle that's different every time. I hope this game gets to ma y more tables soon. The only nit pick we have is the luck of the draw aspect with successors. A minor gripe for sure, but enough of an irritation that we'll likely house rule that to draw 2 pick one or something similar going forward.

    Jon, overall I both really enjoyed this video and you did a great job of explaining a fairly complex set of rules in a nicely digestible way. If there was one thing I wished you did, to bring out the theme even more - and you were juggling a lot - it would be to have you read more of the titles of the cards you played.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, sorry for not really getting into that. I am not really a thematic gamer so I often forget to emphasize that in the videos I make.

    Thanks for the tutorial, as always it was most excellent. Is there any chance that you and your team would ever record a play through of this one? Your play throughs are also fun to watch, and this is one I would particularly love to see...

      I suppose there is a chance, though at the moment we don't have any plans to. There is certainly quite abit going on here, I agree.

    1:34:12 Minor correction, the yellow character was choosing so him choosing as if white made no sense and hurt him badly.

    Great Demo Jon, thank you. As much as i may want this game at this point its a matter of if "you snooze you lose". I missed the KS in 2019??? and now the deluxe pledge is $50 US more in pre-order. All i can say is I missed the campaign, looks like a great game, i will have bought it, both our mistakes I didnt. They should have got you to do this earlier :)

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 года назад +1

      They reached out to me as their original campaign was ending, and decided waiting a year to have a video with the final version was better than doing one with a prototype after the campaign was over. Sorry to hear you feel like you missed the bus on this one, I don't know the pricing for the non deluxe version but I hope it's not as big of an increase.

      @@JonGetsGames Thanks Jon, i can see why they waited if they were in prototype state. \\ they must have knew something that needed to be fixed. Thats great. However they missed a chance, theres a community that only makes a decision after your fun/expert/3-personality/logical playthroughs. Side note --- Bought many games after watching your playthroughs with prototypes and retail versions, and deluxe. You are a busy man! No and sorry to both of me and them, way too expensive with the price hike to consider this.

      @@shannonsmith7950 Hi Shannon. I know Jason Brooks has an expansion in mind for the future, so it's entirely possible that this might happen via crowdfunding alongside a reprint. Worth keeping tabs on it, and also seeing how it plays when backers get their games (this should start in the next month). If you like what you see, then perhaps best to write that extra cost off as the price of being able to wait until the game is complete, before purchasing?

    CORRECTIONS:
    7:29 - We must play the card we just took from the market, and that isn't the card we took.
    1:22:34 - White should have paid purple 3 fame for taking their heirloom.

    1:22:10 Shouldn't the white player also pay you fame? Did I misunderstand that?
    Interesting game. I love the theme, and was looking forward to this on that basis. Now that I have seen it though, I find I am much less enamored with the mechanics. I would prefer if instead of having one character ability and picking a successor as a card with some effect on it, you had a selection of characters in your family that changed every generation which determined what your special power was. Overall for a game about dynastic legacies this feels weirdly lacking in character.
    I do like the way numbers inflate through the centuries. It's not just thematic, but also it means that the game doesn't get decided partway through when you still have an hour to go and there's always room for a last minute upset. It's the same reason so many game shows have a double point scoring final round - keeps it exciting till the end.
    But overall this didn't sing with me. Mostly it's just a lot of little things rather than one big thing though.

    • @brookspungames
      @brookspungames 2 года назад

      You are correct - the white player should have also paid 3 fame to the Transportation Baron for taking their level 3 heirloom using that player card.
