i really wish they would have double layered so much of this, so many sliding parts to place out.

I really like all the options players have in this game in terms of point scoring routes to choose from. And also how each game is different with how objectives and rewards are distributed. Keeps things fresh. Excellent work on the video as always Jon.

Already played Newton a few times, and it's very challenging. Once again this is a great "learn while playing" video. Thanks Jonathan !

I was definitely afraid of this game when it first came out but these powered action games have been calling to me

I keep hearing about this (solo board game and in Darwin's Journey backer communities), so had to watch this when I saw it come up in my notifications. The game didn't grab my attention when it first came out, but your playthrough... wow! I don't 'need' more games, but really interested in these science themed games lately (e.g. Genotype)!

the action selection mechanic reminds me a bit of Mombasa(only the game in play in video's), although it's a completly different thing.
But it's nicely timed since Newton is supposed to come back into print in december 2021.(with the expansion & promo's in one box)

Awesome tutorial, Thank You very much!! Love the zooming in on the different boards and tiles, and perfectly explained!! Learned it with only one video, how it's supposed to be! 🤗🌻 had to slow it down to 0.75 speed though, as you apparently have sped the video up before your upload!? (🤔) I will gladly come back to this channel, subscribed!! 👍

I'm glad you enjoyed this. I don't know why you'd assume the video was sped up though, the only time I ever change the speed is when I obviously do a fast forward though adding cards or something. I never speed up my voice.

I backed the bells and whistles edition of Darwin's Journey. How does this compare? (Seems to me I made the right choice🤔)

I personally prefer DJ, though I am pretty vested in it since I wrote all the rulebooks :P But even so, I enjoyed DJ more even before joining the team to help produce it.

I have played Newton a bunch, and followed DJ campaign and backed it as well. Also played in the DJ tournament they hosted during the campaign playing it on TTS.
For me, DJ is a better streamlined and more thematic version of Newton, while keeping the great feeling of pulling of insane combo chains.

Klemenz draws some warm, nice and somewhat naive art, but clearly his iconography can be confusing sometime! Those books-as-a-requirements and books-as-a-placeholder are indistinguishable..almost

    • @JonGetsGames

Yeah, certainly confusing to talk about as well.

Once again, I listened on my long commute as opposed to watching the video. Going back now to get a sense of what the game looks like! I was envisioning a bigger or more detailed map... So much symbology. I know some people dig that, and a lot of games lean toward that. It turns me off. Are the potions really called "potions"? That make me think more of something like D&D or alchemy than enlightenment. I sound like a grouch but these are the types of choices that turn me off to some Euros.

    • @JonGetsGames

I was also surprised about "potions" and specifically checked the rules to make sure I was referring to them correctly. Turns out that is what it's listed as there.
