Unessesary complexity Though selective healing does exist in the game, Necrotects can only heal constructs and not undead. So to explain why jade magic can heal, it heals the engineers that are repairing the tank even during battle.
I'm pretty floored at how much the army costs, even with the special regiments. Sure those state troops really drive up the costs, but it shouldn't be at over 21k gold. The only explanation I can fathom on why this army costs over 21k is because whoever is playing this isn't paying close-enough attention to the elector count positions.
Now imagine if we've had steam tank variants like 1)Alter Kamerad which is an IFV which uses Hellblaster Volley Gun as main armament; 2)Unfehlbar which is a mortar equipped SPG; 3)Von Zeppel which is an APC with a platform full of guys armed with experimental weapons and should be available to Engineer heroes as a mount; 4)Sigmar's Hammer which is basically a glorified siege ram.
All those wizards are really engineers. The Warrior Priest is a maintenance engineer keeping things up to spec, the life wizard is a mechanic repairing everything and the bright wizard is a problem solver. What kinds of problems does he solve? The problem of enemy artillery existing

That what pretty much my thinking as well. This army may be 2.5x the upkeep of Franz's army, but it sounds like it can also take on more than twice as much. To me, that's pretty much what you want out of a doomstack. You could have two Franz-style armies to do the job, but then you don't just have the upkeep on two Franz-style armies to pay for, but at higher difficulty levels you've also got a big chunk of extra supply lines on your entire army, which is probably going to be more than the 4000 gold or so's difference between two Franz-style armies and the Steam Tank doomstack. With supply lines at higher difficulties being what they are, really the only reason to be concerned about the upkeep of individual armies is if you need an army in a particular location but it doesn't need to be the most powerful army you can field. As long as you start thinking that you need a second army to support it, if gold is your primary limiting factor you really should be looking to maximise your slot efficiency over worrying about your up-front upkeep cost, since maximising slot efficiency works out cheaper in the end. That's my thoughts on the matter, anyway.
@@Draxynnic The thing about Karl's army is that it's built around lightning strike, it could solo the Chaos invasion just like this one (It did multiple times in other campaigns) but it'd need to pick them apart slowly over the course of 4-5 turns, while this can just punch through 4 stacks at a time, so it's more cost efficient even if it isn't as powerful. @@JustSome462 Building around Lightning Strike would mean that you have to be extra-careful about making sure you get to pick your battles. Which is certainly doable, it's just another consideration. As long as it is genuinely capable of taking on what it needs to, then yeah, it's not necessary to make it the most powerful army it absolutely could be, and an ~8000g stack that can do the job is definitely more efficient than an ~21000g stack that will do the same job. The thinking, though, is that if an army is not powerful enough, it's generally more cost-efficient at higher difficulties to sub in stronger units than to add a second army to support it. And it's better to err on the side of the army being more powerful than it needs to be than less. (Although the most expensive army isn't necessarily the strongest, of course!) I do note that you've got Lightning Strike on Balthazar's army as well, so you could take the 'fight them one army at a time' approach with it as well rather than just diving in like Legend did. But the extra upkeep does buy some additional margin for error.
the centre top spell for Gelt can cost only 1 Winds when he is leveled up for it. Why not use it? It's basically free, and while it doesn't do much damage it is very good for Winds efficiency especially against blobbed-up units
Why you not using charge bonus? Send half of army in melee cycle charge at start, then when they get enough damage, set them on ranged and other half on cycle charge!
Don't Forget Gelt's bombardment spell only costs 1 wind of magic, he can spam the fuck out of that on enemies locked in melee. It has good coverage and is very efficient damage per wind.
It's not really needed, they already have 15% ward save, 22% extra with the warrior priest, and you can give them 22% physical resistance with Shield of Thorns, which makes their physical resistance 59%, if the lord is an Archlector (Or Volkmar) you can slap *another* 22% ward save on top of that making their ward save 59% and the physical resistance 81%
@@JustSome462 You know, I was just about to question whether resistances stacked like that, but they do. Ward save stacks additively with other resistances.

The thinking, though, is that if an army is not powerful enough, it's generally more cost-efficient at higher difficulties to sub in stronger units than to add a second army to support it. And it's better to err on the side of the army being more powerful than it needs to be than less. (Although the most expensive army isn't necessarily the strongest, of course!)
I do note that you've got Lightning Strike on Balthazar's army as well, so you could take the 'fight them one army at a time' approach with it as well rather than just diving in like Legend did. But the extra upkeep does buy some additional margin for error.
"I don't think we are going to win this" *Jiggle the mouse to see the length of the video* Yeah, he is going to crush this.
Damn, that's one loud doomstack, a boomstack one would say.... Metal boomboxes!
the centre top spell for Gelt can cost only 1 Winds when he is leveled up for it. Why not use it? It's basically free, and while it doesn't do much damage it is very good for Winds efficiency especially against blobbed-up units
Gelt levelled up has free plagues of rust and searing dooms for 1 WoM - his magic is stupendous
Those chaos warriors got...
😎
... steamrolled.
(Tougoudoug ziiiing)
Free plagues of rust, free glittering robes, searing dooms1, just have Gelt hover the whole time apparently
Neither plague of rust nor glittering robes were free because i didn't put two points into those
Why you not using charge bonus?
Send half of army in melee cycle charge at start, then when they get enough damage, set them on ranged and other half on cycle charge!
apparently he was purposefully just making them sit there to make it "idiot proof", so that even if you use it terribly the doomstack still wins
Give a whole new meaning to a storme of steel
anyone else have steam tanks not having a firing sound for the cannon shot?
"Death in the shape of a Franzer battalion!"
He shall be victorious -Steam Tanks rank nicely here.
The Emperors Tank Division
Don't Forget Gelt's bombardment spell only costs 1 wind of magic, he can spam the fuck out of that on enemies locked in melee. It has good coverage and is very efficient damage per wind.
Why nobody uses Light/Beast magic to prevent AP damage with tanks? They are literally invulnerable when AP is blocked
Gelt is such a fun campaign, stoked on this one
Also remember, the steam turrets have unlimited ammo
Most "Empire Doomstack" bring at least one battle Priest, what's the point of them ? Increased Leadership?
Buffs and debuffs plus increased replenishment?
Good panzer battallion, Hans
Fire wizards are best. I wonder if you created like half circle defensive line would that prevented enemy from flanking you
Imagine going up against armor clad tanks with axes... yay fun times.
would a double stack of steamtanks on a large battle work even better due to the sheer stopping power they can bring? break the first wave of reinforcements and turn it into a shooting gallery
Why don't you hit "Start Deployment"? That way you can setup the army without half the screen covered.
Balthasar Gelt the Heinz Guderian of Warhammer.
Amazing Blitzkrieg formation 10/10 panzer division :D Steam tanks with all the upgrades and ward save they can get are really...well tanky :D
Steam Tank spam is basically Necrofex spam but like three times as expensive.
But three time more fun
I hope you were playing the Panzerlied while recording this video....
now where is that empire engineer hero ca? we know they exist
Why does the reinforcement system work like it's first the trash units (infantry) and cavalry coming, and then monsters and artillery? Because it doesn't work the same way when it's the player right?
I built a much stupider version of this doomstack, but I got a new lord and named him Erwin Rommel.
Perfection
Should've built a second and named its lord Heinz Guderian(!)
@@AidanDracoleNext campaign.
@@AidanDracole third and name lord Patton
Now go invade tomb kings like a real desert fox.
Steam tank always fight still to the end even lord or other army unit has retreat..
