    From napoleon dynamite syndrome to the era of nose job regret. Plastic surgery positivity that is more problematic that positive, the rise of the barbie nose job and the nose job victims who’s noses are on the brink of collapse and the girlies who’s noses are falling off… welcome to the war or the noses.
    Nose jobs are the 2nd most popular plastic surgery in the world, and it’s no wonder. Your nose is pretty prominent. It literally protrudes from your face. And when you’re being bombarded with the message that the ONLY nose that’s socially acceptable is the cute little upturned barbie nose - but you don’t have that? It can make your self esteem plummet. But whilst some nose jobs are a great success and make the patient feel better - an awful lot go wrong. From nose job regret, to multiple nose job surgeries, botched procedures and subsequent problems with breathing and sense of smell - we need to really stop normalising what is in actual fact, a very invasive procedure.

    I'm 15 and you have no idea how much this video is meaning to me, since i was 14 i remember begging and crying to mom to get me a nose job or to just put something in my nose to curve it upwards, i was so hideous about my nose, even posing in photos hiding it. Eventually found out my chin was a little too much behind my whole face so i began to do therapy for it and it was the best decission i've ever done, not only is that my nose looks more fitting to my face, it is the fact that i learned to ACCEPT and work on my self-esteem, and i was never the type of girl that got easily swayed by trends or beauty standards, but the simple fact that everyone makes it seem okay and something you MUST do to look prettier, it destroyed me.

Beauty is subjective true, but I think that the uniqueness of features are what enhances someone’s beauty. So sad that a lot of people esp younger and more impressionable individuals now think they have to “fix” their faces because of trends.

    I had a nose job after an accident. My surgeon sketched a nose shape that he felt would suit my face and asked my opinion. He didn't ask me if I wanted to have a celebrities nose shape that may have not suited my actual face. I always am thankful he's the surgeon the ER contacted after my accident.

I may be actually getting compliments now, but the disconnect you feel towards the new nose messes up your head. I needed therapy to accept my new face. I'd say that if your nose is functional, don't touch it. Surgery can and will mess up the health of your nose in the future. I may look and feel beautiful now but I seriously regret it and wish I had my old nose. It's a very complicated feeling.

    Problem with rhinoplasty is that it's unpredictable. You could look fine for years, and then suddenly, your nose could colapse. Out of nowhere. And it's no one fault. It's just that this surgery messes up the structure of nose, and it can turn out quite well, or it could colapse, deform or close and leave you miserable. That's the risk of this surgery. And we really, really need nose to breathe.

    • @DeadKraken
      @DeadKraken 29 дней назад +16

      There is also the fact that if you mess with the nose's cartilage, the whole thing will start to shrink after a decade or so. Which is probably why one of the girls in the video had a first "very conservative" nose job: a plastic surgeon that knows what he's doing will plan things with the long-term result in mind, probably in some 5 years she would've naturally got exactly what she wanted with no more shrinkage, sort of like how good tattoo artists make tattoos that look darker at first, so they last longer.
      But she messed with it, so enjoy the Voldemort nose in 5 years love😂

    Not only fix ur breathing, also fix ur bite, unbalanced bite (skeletal class 2 or only orthodontic cases), atypical swallowing... These features could've been developed in childhood (growing ages) due to poor tongue positioning. (All this is in reference to when we talk about the chin at minute 11:56). I defend a lot the orthodontic treatments because you can prevent those type of features for a very good reason in a future (breathing well, chewing well, not having temporomandibular joint problems, not having bruxism)... Dentist here. We typically call the ‘adenoid face’ a type II occlusion (the way the teeth bite together). This can either be skeletal or dental. Skeletal can be improved if intercepted during growth spurts however may need revision later on depending on the severity. Dental is a little easier to correct with just orthodontics. A lot of people with this type of occlusion can either have a prominent maxilla (upper jaw), a recessive mandible (lower jaw) or a combination of the 2. However, the recessive lower jaw can unfairly make the nose seem more prominent. I would encourage those considering surgery to also ask their dentist/orthodontist about their facial shape as a second opinion.
    In addition to the breathing issues: is it the chicken or the egg…. Did the breathing issues cause the development of a type II occlusion or did the genetically present type II occlusion hinder the development of nasal breathing.
