Kendall Jenner, Megan Fox, Michelle Keegan are just some of the women who have been praised for being ‘natural beauties’. Their faces are technically perfect, apparently. Yet are these women actually ‘natural’ beauties? or, have their beautiful faces been tweaked, refine and enhanced? These days, it seems that to be considered a natural beauty, you need to have had a little help from a plastic surgeon. You need a little filler. A little botox. A little nose job. Thats still natural beauty… right? Well i don’t think so. I think we’re heading down a slippery slope where being an ACTUAL natural beauty - aka your face as nature intended isn’t good enough anymore. Its not enough to be pretty. To be yourself. No, you need to be PERFECT. And that’s a real problem. Because people aren’t perfect. We all have our own unique faces, features and quirks - but now they’re considered flaws. That we have to fix. Then we’ll be ‘naturally beautiful’. It’s actually really bloody problematic. And no - i’m not a natural beauty either. I’ve dabbled in all the things. Filler, botox and cosmetic tattooing. Is natural beauty gone for good?
Thank you to Typology for partnering with me on today’s video!

Movie stars from Marilyn’s era definitely weren’t natural either. Marilyn has been said to have had work done on her nose and chin along with receiving hairline electrolysis. Her hair colour wasn’t natural either. In 2013, X-rays of Marilyn’s face and medical records were auctioned off, and seemed to confirm that she had had surgical tweaks to her nose and chin. She was also way ahead of her time with her makeup.

Exactly. This has been going on since the beginning of Hollywood. Tricking people into thinking famous people are more beautiful than they are is part of the allure. If they all “looked normal” they wouldn’t be famous. So to become famous they fake it with make up and to stay famous they do surgery. Marilyn used to enlarge her top lip with make up as well.

People keep talking about how all those cosmetic procedures that rich celebrities are getting are making women who can't afford them feel bad, but I think saying that is leaving out a more crucial point, which is the absurdity of going under the knife - with all the risks and pain it entails - just to fit some superficial standard. Women shouldn't feel pressured to literally cut their faces and shave their bones to feel pretty and like they have value as humans. It's 2024, come on

I've never had any procedures, fillers, fake eyelashes, hair, etc. the only thing I've ever done is to dye my hair, and that is a very rare occasion that happens maybe once every couple of years. The problem is that we are on our phones 24/7, so we see all these “natural beauty’s” online, and assume that this is how it should be. But what we do even less is to just look around when we are for example sitting in the subway. Not every second person has undergone surgery, and that’s completely fine. To just see how normal it is to be natural.🥰

I would recommend a trip to any city in germany and spend a day sitting in the subway just looking at other people. I live in Hamburg and almost no one wears a full face of makeup in their day to day life, a whole lot of women don't wear any makeup at all. It is so refreshing and wonderful to see all these natural faces. And I think most of them are just beautiful but not in a threatening way, more like in a piecefully coexisting way :)

Their children can have the features they were dissatisfied with but children are no longer looking like their parents. A lot of women are all looking the same, even alot of Male actors have nose or facial lifts. These days to be a natural beauty does not include celebrities or actors. The bad thing is these procedures need maintaining, it's not just a one off.🇬🇧🇬🇧

Because naturally beautiful people already have a harmonic face, with certain things you focus on to bring it all together.
But they end up changing the wrong things and ruin that, and makes the whole face to loose balanced contrast between features, and the slight "imperfections" won't lead your eyes to their standout features anymore, and they wont stand out as much.
      Does that make sense?

  • @StargazingWolf

i do think that natural beauty is dead, this societe pushes you to either get plastic surgery/fillers/botox or to cake your face with makeup but no matter what you'll get criticized. If you have work done to your face is bad, if you put on too much makeup it's bad but if you don't put on any makeup you'll also get criticized and get comments like "you're not put together", "you could've make an effort and put on a little bit of makeup", "you look sick".... I even feel like you're unconsciously forced to be into skincare because you're bombarded with girls with perfect glass skin everywhere, with no pores, no blemish, no redness and if you have some "imperfections" you can get comments like "you should try this and this and this, you're skin will be perfect afterwards !"...

@@leinaleilani Yeah I had a correction to my septum because of a breathing problem I had since I was twelve. I had previously had a bump on my bridge and I never said to shave it, in fact I said to leave it, but it was shaved, in fact my bridge was what surgeons call "overscooped". I wondered if he had me confused with someone else! But then, he did fix my breathing issue so I guess not? Anyway, I went back for a revision to get him to raise the bridge of my nose (it didn't give me my exact old nose back, but it's a lot closer to what it used to be). There's a problem of a bundle of scar tissue on my nose tip that makes my eyes water/sinus sting for some reason if I rub it a certain way but I'm not going to the same surgeon three times because he seems to be a screw up. I think I will have to travel to get that repaired because the only other surgeon in my city that I called, the receptionist hung up on me every time I tried to introduce myself over the phone (I suspect it was because I spoke English) and so that left me with one option. He had good reviews and stuff and since I was only going in for a medical issue and not cosmetic I thought no big deal but unfortunately he decided I wasn't good looking enough and that he needed to play god on my face. So now I will have to pay for yet another revision. But on the bright side, my medical problem was solved so I do try to focus on that because it was really a big problem for me (I had basically massive sinus headaches, as if they were migraines, for about 10 years). So yes, you are right, it DOES happen. It seems like she is fibbing, but there's a chance she's telling the truth (but in her case I kinda doubt it).

    • @iprobablyforgotsomething
      @iprobablyforgotsomething 4 месяца назад

@venus_envy -- That's... weird. He shouldn't have been in that area of your nose (the bridge) if he was just fixing the deviated septum. And then to not get it right a second time? That's straying into malpractice territory, one would think, since he did something you specifically told him not to. From both personal experience and anecdotal evidence, fixing septums and/or turbinates (often done together) doesn't change the outside shape of your nose (I was disappointed to learn, as I'd hoped my nose bump would get smaller).

Measuring faces mathematically to determine beauty is so stupid. It's impossible. What's beautiful is not only highly dependent on the observer but also the little 'imperfections' that truly make someone pretty or beautiful.
Mathematically, Angelina Jolie would have lips that are too big and a face that is too square. Julia Roberts' mouth would be way too big. Marilyn Monroe's eyes would be way too droopy. And those are just three examples of women who were at one point considered among the most beautiful and would still be by many.
It's, by the way, the same argumentation style as that of jealous people who like to highlight things that are not considered within the realm of 'perfect' as flaws

I wish it was the standard for us not to wear makeup and be just as barefaced as men, which is what should be considered natural.

i feel like people praise natural beauty when the person is or are already considered attractive, i know to some people celeberties lying about their plastic surgrey is bad to some people, but it seems like people don't really talk about how people treat you when you they consider you ugly or unattractive, yeah we can go on how plastic sugrey ir ruining beauty standards, but wer can't ignore how cruel people can genuinely be they considred you not be attractive.

Yeah, but when you don’t meet the beauty standard, at least you know that people who want to be around you truly like you as a person - not just for what you look like.

At least you're honest about it! ❤ I really love your channel.
This is a very important thing for younger girls to hear.
I feel so bad for teenagers now days growing up with all of this pressure.
    It's too much.
Even men are becoming more artificial.
It really is like a dystopian society we are living in.

I wish I had role models like you growing up.
I think we need to spend more time in public to help us recognize what normal people look like instead of being brainwashed by media imagery. Take public transit or go to a busy park - sit and look at the different faces and bodies. You are normal.

What also concerns me is that the "natural beauty" demonstrated by many of these celebs via cosmetic surgery is essentially "westernised beauty". Ethnic features are being eliminated across the board and it's really worrying. The people suggesting these changes are presumably people with the power to make or break a career, reinforced by a media which praises the results, so there's also a power dynamic involved. It's something that's gone on since early Hollywood but it's gained so much traction in the last few decades. The net result is that children from non-white backgrounds will feel that their very heritage renders them ugly. It's so sad and scary.

    • @bridgetmonro8485
      @bridgetmonro8485 20 дней назад

It's also white ethnic features being removed too, eg getting the big lips, BBL, olive skin. The in look is very racially ambiguous, it removes any prominent identifying ethnicity so they all end up looking the same - a la Kardashians.

I'm 50 - had a recessive chin all my life and hated it. Recently had 6ml (!) chin and jaw line done (by a top plastic surgeon) and absolutely love it. Also had my lips done 3x over the course of 10 yrs. No botox no cheek fillers an no surgeries... but I love my new face.

Even if some of them seemed slightly unattractive, I just liked how all of them had different unique features back then, unlike now were everybody has the same nose, the same lips and just the same everything.

I remember when I was a kid and I used to compare myself to celebrities, my mum would say if everyone looked the same the world would be a boring place and I agree. Everyone looks the same now and it’s boring and unimpressive.

Everyone of the featured women is not natural anymore. They all look the same and don't represent the norm. They are celebrities and it's unfortunate that some of them feel pressure from whatever it comes from to change their looks.
We need to embrace untouched skin and encourage healthy lifestyles. Protect your skin from the sun, eat whole foods, exercise, and be kind and thoughtful to others. To me that's natural beauty.

I'm nearly 39 with no money to "enhance" my appearance. My lips are thinning and my jowls starting to show, I look dull :( but men are still around me like mosquitos so I guess they're not seeing things the same way as we do. Tbh as long as I can find a partner it's ok, it's the only useful purpose of beauty for me, I don't care if women think I'm ugly and men are way more indulgent in real life !

I saw a picture of indian actress Krithi Shetty . She's so real.... so naturally beautiful. She is such a vision of loveliness that my heart was filled with love for her immediately. She wasn't intimidating. She has such an innocent and kind, sweet face . Much prettier than the Kardashians, Jenner's and Hadid's combined.

Best thing I heard from a coworker was “It’s all money” That the only reason they look better is because they can afford to. That they’re not that pretty, they just bought everything. I don’t know if I would say they were not pretty, but I would definitely say that they bought a lot of beauty.
