I'm no video expert but I've read many times that for smooth motion in video, the shutter speed should be double the frame rate (so 1/50th for 25fps footage). Could it be that the shutter speed was just too quick to give fluent footage in daylight above water? If you were shooting wide open, even at base ISO the required shutter speed for correct exposure might've been too fast for fluent motion, and stopping down the lens to slow down the shutter speed might've solved it.
Sucks to hear about the focus issue with the camera, but I have to say the footage from the x-u is pretty beautiful!!! The colors looked much better coming out of the x-u and I think in the right scenario, you can make some really beautiful films with the x-u. For your use, the x-u probably was not the best choice.
Well, please dispose your Leica to someone who appreciates it for the purposes it is designed for: all weather, rugged, underwater. Until I saw you claim that the Olympus Tough series is superior one could have simply disagreed with your take. I love the Olympus Four-Thirds system but the TGs are atrocious to use your vocabulary. I used the Leica X-U for eight days of Burning Man with excellent results. Obviously, no dust troubled it.
You are obviously not professional photographers ,otherwise you would be able to understand the limits for the Leica X-U for video use. Also the focusing function is designed to select auto focus and use one of the 11 points on the screen to put in focus. I am sorry that you had inferior results but don't blame the camera just because you were trying to use it improperly.. when you try to disparage Leica camera in general, you just make a fool of yourself by all those who know better. Your review just illustrates the weakness of you tube and social media that does not have an editorial "Gate Keeper" to keep people from posing misleading reviews.
The Leica X-U has a narrow use advantage for sure. You're buying the lens... It takes very nice shots in controlled environments. If you want to take unpredictable action shots underwater or on land, the X-U is not your camera. I shoot in very dusty environments so the enclosed body is a big plus and photos are superior to GoPro. Video sucks. LOL. Action video - go with GoPro or Sony's me-too cube. End of story.
I'm first viewer, that's sad, such a nice RUclips channel but it's underrated 🔥,u have a lot of potential to grow,I like your RUclips channel and I finally goty Joby Suction cup today,it's an awesome product, thanks to u I got to know about it,I have applied for the giveaway through 2 accounts and really hope I win it, please bring out more GoPro Videos😙✌🏼🔥🔥.
The TG-6 is the last of it’s kind sadly. As Olympus are out, or at least about to be out of the camera game altogether. Odd comparison test I have to say. Although, Leica producing an under water camera is equally odd I like your videos. Off the back of your GoPro Hero 9 review, I went out today and got myself a Hero 8 with a sh*tload of accessories and an extra four year replacement cover for really good $’s Great videos btw. Keep em coming 👊💥👊
Sad about the Olympus, but TBH their underwater cameras were the only modern appeal to us. Leica's underwater camera was a total flop -- I think they discontinued it. Thanks for watching our GoPro videos! It really is still the king of action cameras.
I am so sorry., but I have used this camera since 2017, and I am still fond of it. Maybe Leicas are meant and built for people who care more for picture quality than for renting and misjudging products they cannot afford. This camera shall soon accompany me to explore the Indian Ocean, and I know for sure, that the X-U won't let me down. If it fails to give me the usual pin sharp underwater pictures, it will be my own fault. Kind greetings
Ah the go pro menu it’s just like a Sony were you need to research to find the functions you want to use that’s why I was so happy I switch to the 360one r it’s like using a cannon camera menu easy to use and find what you want right away. Plus I like that The new batty pack back they have for that camera last for 2 hours and 24 minutes 4K and 3 hours and 4.30 minutes for 1080p.
Interesting -- so the Insta 360 One R has a better menu system? We're intrigued by that camera, but would like to wait and see what GoPro has in store for the Hero 9, and also what the next 360 One R camera looks like. From what we can see, cameras make significant improvements after version 1.
I liked your Video it looked like a great time I guess I will keep using my Gopro Hero 7 Black for Action and Water Adventures and my Canon EOS 90D for everything else.
Lol Don’t recommend Olympus cameras didn’t you hear they are selling off the camera and lens division of the company due to Olympus being in the red for millions of dollars the past 3 years. They don’t even have any buyers for the company yet.
It's true that Olympus is being sold, but the Olympus Tough is the best point and shoot underwater camera at that price point. Since it's a simple camera with no lenses/accessories, you would be fine buying it and not worrying if Olympus goes under in the long run. But I definitely wouldn't buy any Olympus cameras that require lens changes until we know the future of the brand.
@@Gemini_Connect Olympus is done no more cameras. Only medical equipment and other tech they are shutting down their camera devision. Unless you are buying that Tough camera at a closeout price I would suggest spending your money elsewhere.

The problem with slowing your shutter speed like that is that any stabilization goes completely out the window and the video is super shaky.

Luckily, the Leica was a rental. We didn't own it.

What is the link to the giveaway? But amazing video and I am sad that the Leica did not do better. I have a Leica film camera and I works great.
Sorry! Here is the link: socialman.net/c/ATNPq

Any sample underwater still images?
Unfortunately no. Couldn't find any interesting subjects for stills.
