    The Fuji X100VI is the latest and greatest in their extremely popular line of 23mm fixed lens APS-C street cameras. A trend started by Leica with the X1 back in 2009. They have since moved on to their full frame Q-line, but before they did, they released the X Typ 113 in 2014. So how do these two compare? And is the premium price of the latest Fuji justified?
    The Fuji X100VI was lent to me by the good people at Kameradoktorn in Stockholm. For my Swedish viewers I can highly recommend them. Great shop with an interesting used section as well.www.kameradoktorn.se

    Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Leica 113. About two years ago, I picked it up for around 400€ from a local dealer. I really wanted to love this camera. I loved the quality of the photos, the superb lens, and overall, I was quite fond of the entire camera. However, the missing viewfinder was a dealbreaker for me. The external viewfinder was quite cumbersome and felt outdated, which unfortunately detracted from the overall experience. As a result, I ended up selling it and switching to a Fujifilm X-E3 as my second Body.

    • @gearreallydoesntmatter
      @gearreallydoesntmatter  2 месяца назад +1

      Totally understandable and I agree that an external EVF has its drawbacks. But “outdated” is a bit of a stretch imo, at least compared to the XE3, which I think is totally fine. Just not as good or at least not superior to the Visoflex.

    On the surface one could wonder about the relevancy of a comparison of old vs new tech, but if you take that step back that Mattias does so well, you see how fun photography is when playing with different kinds of these machines. I've learned so much from old film cameras that translates into working with how digital approximates the process that these kind of comparisons are indeed the BeSt kind of relevance in this hobby! Alongside my Nikon Df, I own and use regularly a Leica X Typ 113, with a Leica VIsioflex 020 viewfinder. The viewfinder is game changing, if a little old by todays standards.
    I have owned my X since 2016, and have loved every minute of it - the EVF has kept me using it after I tired of using the rear screen.
    The image quality that comes out of the camera in some circumstances is amazing - but there are occasions where I just switch to the Df.

      What do you mean "the default Fuji colours without fancy film simulations"? There's no way to even get that. The "default" in Fuji cameras is the Provia film simulation. Typ 113's go for like 800-1000 USD on the low end. After this video they'll all be the 1300-2500 that the rest are listed for.
    I wonder how many years it will take for camera makers to go back on their "small mid-range cameras have zero market, so we're not going to focus on/make them anymore" stance they've taken the last year or two. Probably after the trend is long dead due to a broken piece of junk compact going for 800 USD when it was maybe 100 just 6 or 8 months ago. Oh well, I got my Leica CL in box for 800 bucks before all the prices shot up, so that's my cheap Leica along with the M10-D I got off a friend with more money than sense that figured out they didn't really want that "analogue digital experience" and then bought a used X100V for 2k USD, furthering the problem of people of questionable intelligence propping up gouging/inflated prices.

      @@gearreallydoesntmatter Well, you are right. The X100 vi costs around 1800€ here in Luxembourg where I live. And a used x113 on ebay Kleinanzeigen in Germany gets sold for around 1100-1200€. But still, a lot of money for a used 10 year old Digicam. Even if it is a Leica.

      I just sold mine on eBay, I even tried to market it a little on Instagram. $650. So what I said in the video was accurate.

    I find the Leica more overpriced than the Fuji. A comparison between the X100S/T/F vs the Typ113 would be more realistic. Both in price and specs. Ps, they are all great.

    Unfortunately in the US, the Typ 113 cost almost the same, sometimes more, than the X100VI. The X1 and X2 do cost less, but are even older and have worse lens. A cheaper Fuji body paired with a TTArtisan lens yield better images compared to an X2 in my experience.

      I cant say that I agree with that. In my experience the X2 23mm outperforms even Fujis 23mm, let alone a TTartisan.

    The Leica is cheaper, better looking, and produce better images (lens, color, aperture). The Fuji has more megapixels (useless), a viewfinder, tillable LCD and stabilisation. So I would choose the Leica 100%

    Never been a fan of how the Leica X looks. There's something early to mid 2000's about it's design that hasn't aged well. One could argue, that the Fuji looks a lot more than a Leica M5/M6 than an actual digital Leica.
