    I bought way too many GoPro accessories that I don’t use. I’m sure I could find a use for them, but they do weight something, and I do have to carry them. This is in case of backpacking, with a car would be easier. So my “to-go” kit, my default one is: (1) Joby Gorilapod as a handle, tripod, improvised mount (2) Media Mod - it usually stays off but it has its uses (3) GoPro Light - I have yet to find any real use for it (4) Rode Video Micro - it goes together with the Media Mod for a vlogging set-up, usually off as it adds weight (5) Roll-cage - this is usually on, I’ve broken the screen protector on the 8 already, so a real lens to protect it helps. Plus, it looks cool (6) A third party backpack clip (7) A hat clip (8) Two extra batteries (9) Two or three screws (10) One sticky mount, just in case (11) Bike mount - although I’m using it less and less and just clipping my GoPro to a backpack strap (12) Windbreaker for the Rode (13) Small things like a tripod adapter. It fits all in a medium sized case and they’re light. I do have selfie sticks, I do have 3-ways, but a metal selfie stick is like 350 - 400 grams so I’d rather not carry it. Sure, it could give me a better perspective than the Joby, but for me at least is not worth the effort.
    So yes, I do love a big GoPro accessory collection - but when hiking or backpacking - carrying an extra 1 KG of stuff over everything else you have is not fun. That’s the reason I stopped traveling with a DSLR to begin with - it’s good to have it but once you add all the lens and the body and the other tools you need, you just end up hating it. So you leave it at home and snap photos with your phone :)

      Nice kit! I agree about GoPro accessories being overkill after awhile. We're reaching that point now. We travel with a whole bag full of accessories and almost never open it, lol.

      @@Gemini_Connect for your recommendation which one do you prefer for Vlogging. A6400 and a7m3?

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  3 года назад

      @@Hsen.amore7 Of the two cameras, I'd choose the Sony a6400, mainly due to its smaller size. It will be easier to hold for longer periods of time compared to the bigger and heavier A7iii. Both cameras don't have the best stability, so you may want to use a gimbal with them for smooth, non-shaky footage.

    I plan on trying to get some under water shots at a spring in Florida and I was considering using the gorilla tripod by placing it on the floor of the spring while recording. So I need it to NOT float. Is this doable with a gorilla tripod? And if not, which stick/tripod/accessory would you recommend for something like what I'm trying to achieve?

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  4 года назад

      Good question -- if you use the Gorillapod to secure the GoPro to something on the bottom of the spring (ie. a heavy rock), I think this could anchor the camera below.

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  4 года назад +1

      If you get a GoPro Hero 7 or Hero 8, it comes with Hypersmooth stability that is so good you don't need a gimbal. In fact, I think GoPro has stopped selling the Karma Grip -- their old gimbal.

      Glad to be of help! If I were you, I'd go with the old GoPro mic adapter, Ulanzi cage, and an external mic like the Edutige ETM-001. The more we compare the sound quality of that setup to the Media Mod, the more we dislike the Media Mod.
