This is what my eyes saw when i started HL for the first time as a kid back in 1998

Man 100% truth, just i remember
For sure man. It was revolutionary. 🥹
Half-life 1 is for adults I think 🤔
@@goofy-ahh101. it is but kids play it idk why
Gotta love how, no matter how many iterations of Black Mesa there are, there's always that OSHA-bait massive toxin clusterfuck of a spill right at the end of the tram ride
nah, it's all up to code, OSHA approved. it's supposed to be there.
Its just mountain dew
Work smart work safe I guess
Pool fools, if only they knew the impending doom they themself has done to themself.
Makes me nervous just seeing it
6:45 RIP spiderbot.
No MTM-8 Power Loader. This is unacceptable. -2: Episode 2/10
To think that, as a young boy, I always hated the og HL intro and wanted to jump right into action, and now as a 30 yo adult I keep willingly watching this masterpiece of a remake because it's still mindblowing (as well as Black Mesa).
Morning Freeman, looks like you're running late."
YEAH NO SHIT, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG THAT TRANSIT SYSTEM IS?
Wow, and this is 5 years old. The fact that I want this applied to Black Mesa shows that Half-Life has an eternally young soul
Same I want this at least slapped on black Mesa as a mod if not a whole new remake
It looks great, but remember Black Mesa was built inside an old decommissioned missile site. Some parts should look new. The stuff added onto the original facility. Also certain areas would undergo renovation. The rest should look like an abandoned facility with some late 60's and 70's computers and related tech. This was clearly indicated in the game that this was the case. As when Gordon is heading down to the Test chamber He witnesses all manner of malfunctioning outdated equipment that the scientists lament was never designed to do what they were doing with it.
this happens to just be footage from an alternate universe where black mesa was actually founded
you mean "funded", right?
@@jurajvarju2664 i mean founded, like where it was created
@@studiostudios6102 I mean "funded" seems to make more sense since LOOK AT ALL THE INTERIOR AND HOW BIG IT IS
@@iusproductions9050 Black Mesa isn't a real place, though. I meant this is from an alternate universe where Black Mesa exists.
@@studiostudios6102 Thats not what I meant. This version of Inbound is like if Black Mesa was actually funded by the Government.
As an artistic and technical achievement this is beyond beautiful!
However as a representation of the in-universe Black Mesa facility I prefer the more reserved and lived-in takes of HL1 and Black Mesa. This makes the facility appear a little too open, lively and awe-inspiring; after all its meant to be a pragmatic and sterile (and underground) workplace of a few thousand people, not an otherwordly wonderland metropolis.
But man, I wish these guys would design an enviroment of their own for an original game.
It's even more open than Black Mesa by crowbar collective ( remake of hl1) but it's inspired a lot by it.
@@destin4666 Not just inspired, from the level architecture, scripted events and other cues it's evident that it's a directly based extension of it. Still impressive of course
I think this is a good fit, actually. I do fully believe that the quaint retrofuturism of HL1 was technical limitations and we'd have had a Black Mesa hinting at being some sort of massive sprawling city complex somehow concealed in the desert. To me, that sense of dread and wonder at the sheer scale of Black Mesa was a strength of HL1 and what makes Black Mesa so strong. I think it's fair to say that high tech futurism *was* the intended art direction for Black Mesa.
@@untemperance I don't see what about Half-Life 1 was retrofuturistic tho, the aestethics followed pretty accurately what research centres and industrial plants are like even today
If you look at HL Blue Shift they introduce a metropolitan tone during transit, in the staff areas. Also, with such huge black budgets, there's probably room for an interior decorator!
God it’s fucking beautiful 😢
the absurdity of this train ride through all these random environments only gets highlighted further and further as graphics get better
so much more detail to soak in now, back then the train ride was simple now with all the detail you'll be like wait I missed that... 🤣🤣😂😂
Imagine your inside the tram sitting down, waiting for the tram to reach to your destination, hearing the automated message, looking at your phone (or in this timeline, reading a book or newspaper), and for no reason, you decide to take a peek outside and noticed the Gman in front of you on the other tram cart and you just think of him as a regular visitor.
i think gman has an aura or feeling that he intentionally emits, even then the scientist would have a weird feeling in the back of his head
Player:so beautiful
Pc:I'm very hot
This is why I prefer HL1 over HL2. I loved the game taking place in a top secret Black Mesa facility with all the scientists and security there. It felt like something straight out of an episode of the X-files, especially also the G-Man stuff and when the military arrived later on.
IN that case I recommend CONTROL. This game reminded me of Black Mesa so much.
Same here. Its really one of the first complaints I read when HL2 came out. Some fans wanted the story to unravel slower instead of having us jump into a post-apocalyptic world. I sometimes wish they made a HL game that set before the events of HL2 and dealt more with the conspiracy of covering up what happened in Black Mesa.
@@parkmallbaby If I remember correctly, Earth was invaded like 3 weeks after the Black Mesa incident. Still, portals were most likely making a mess in those 3 weeks teleporting Xen fauna into Earth...
THIS@@DanielTejnicky
It sucks how valve has pretty much abandoned that whole theme and concept surrounding Half Life 1, I don't know many other games which take on this theme other than Control or SCP:CB
Great job recreating such an iconic intro to a game!
Gotta love that 4 years have passed and no completion of it yet UE 5.2 is here already
This is what i fear of every indie game
@@Nombrenooriginal dont think its meant to be a full game but only a tech demo
Tbh Black Mesa looks almost as good as this with Ultra settings.
The game that never gets old.
Just hearing the sound of the mouse hovering over 'load game' gives me chills...
Oh god, that rail curve at 2:37 is more unrealistic and dangerous then the whole Black Mesa Facility
It's for parallel parking rail cars.
@@Anvilshock it's too sharp
@@wondermenel2811 Ah, _that_ curve. Meh, Black Mesa magic 360-no-scope competition-grade Ackermann differential bogies, you know?
they should make a full game of project lambda.
and then it would take 30 god damn years to finish
Unreal engine wasn't build with source like physics. The next half life remakes will likley be by the official valve team based on source 2 half life 3 physics.
12 years later: Finally, Office Complex is finished
Imagine how it would look like in VR
HALF LIFE ALYX IN BLACK MESA!? :0
Imagine if there would be good VR headsets
The same believe it or not
@@lukemorgan6166 but the added depth by watching stereoscopic images brings it to a whole new level. Especially watching in a distance (like where the Gman is).
@@lukemorgan6166It really wouldn't though.
Looks amazing. But I was looking for the big robot. Couldn’t see. Anyone?
Awesome i can tell it took a lot of work, attention to details are great. well done
Damn, it looks like an actual real life facility now...
No it doesn’t
Sure the graphics are beautiful, but to make it look like real life you need shaders and such, not pre rendered lighting
@@me67galaxylife "you need shaders and stuff".
The vast majority of games for the last 23 years are using shaders. Shaders are small programs that renders graphics data.
Ironically, some of the best looking games do use pre-rendered lighting to pull off stuff that is demanding to do in real-time. Assassin's Creed Unity comes to mind, it had to sacrifice day and night cycle, but it visually beats a bunch of recent titles to a pulp.
@@Ozzianman What i meant is obviously a shaders that makes the game looks like real life. As good and as advanced as games get, even pre rendered demo actually -which is probably 90 % of the stuff we see in those areas actually- it just doesn't "feel", "look" like real life
#confidentlyincorrect
NEW MEXICAN DESERT VEGETATION IS ALL WRONG
THERE IS NO JOSHUA TREES AND SAGUARO CACTUS IN NEW MEXICO
This demo makes Black Mesa graphics look like Half Life 1's in comparison
No not really
what lol
@@PoisonooousTea
Now? Its 10 years old, how it can look better the older it gets? you smoking crack?
@@PoisonooousTea
Are you high? Source engine is ancient, it dosnt support half of modern hardware solutions, anything on Unreal 4 can be made to run 5x faster. In fact back when i played BMS some years back it ran like shit, it went from 100 fps to 40 at random, while the engine struggled to keep up.
Not to mention how you went from looking better to running better?
@@googleslocikI concur. The blind nostalgia around Source clouds people's judgments
Ha, at 2.07 the "please do not leave cases or parcels, anywhere unattended on the station" announcement is from the London Underground.
Wow, this is truly astonishing, good job man, I played around with unreal engine a couple months ago and watched a coupe of tutorials so I know how truly insane it is to make this, truly fucking phenomenal, definitely consider graphic design for video games and such, you should apply for Rockstar or whatever game company for that matter that you like the most at the moment and just send them this video.
To produce a demo like this, he most likely already has years of experience working in a gaming company and I doubt it's done by 1 person.
The uploader did not make this demo.
Oh fuck me this is like when I build underground in minecraft- you have an basic idea that's more like the original but then you just can't help but wonder about a bit more awe in SCALE and it ends up such an EXHAUSTIVE project.
Props to the artists here, as someone taking their first steps into Game Arts this looks like a huge undertaking
Nicely done, congratulations! Looking too nice and jolly for my taste, but you put yout hearts to it, that's clear. Love HL!
Take my money!!
Awesome! Imagine the entire game in Unreal engine 4!
what would be cool is just a HUGE open sandbox map pre-HL where you do crazy portal style lab tests and it was MMO like a Gmod rp server
"No Eating" and yet there's a table on the tram..
It probably used for placing laptop so the scientist can continue their science stuff while riding the tram
Awesome work!
This is even better than black mesa’s graphics
Omg the attention to details is insane!
Amazing art work much better textures and colours than the retail version too. 😎
Anyone have a working download link for this?
Everyone's praising this and saying it's lifelike, but to me it doesn't feel right. This doesn't give the feel of a cool research facility, and it's almost impossible to explain how I feel in words. Black Mesa: Source in my opinion is the better choice for a half life 1 remake.
@Old Acc I find that it’s a really good way to experience Half Life with better (but not over the top) graphics and improvements over what the original Half Life didn’t do as well. If you can’t stand the age of Half Life 1, then it’s a good choice.
they really nailed this, ngl
it has the feeling of the source engine somehow
imagine this in ue5
lmao youtube thought this was black mesa
HA! Cool. Proper curved rail for the train, that always bugged me a bit. Good work
Never ceases to amaze, this sequence :)
Yay for gman at @7:35 , I was hoping for that
Fantastic work.
Man, i was waiting for the mech
Hello, Where is the video of all the game like this one ???
A remake gets a remake. What a time to be alive!
I hope the crowbar still sounds the same and the others :D
Game: looks great
Me: Did it rained on the ground
Wow, this is amazing.
Wow, this is so awesome!
The clock in the security station has the wrong time. :P
God we need a remaster of this game at this quality
2:07 - I was not expecting a TFL announcement 😂😂
Thanks god half life came out 20 years ago. Thats why we have the G man and not the G person!
lol true
It's almost perfect. The only thing I would change are the Apache gunships. Even though they are there since the original, and they do look cool, a gunship of that level is not useful at a research facility like Black Mesa. Its more useful at front lines in a war. A UH-60 Blackhawk with side door gunners and transport capability would be more appropriate.
I agree, Little details like that, can change the believability and experience. But even worse now, Modern Games are Garbage made by dumb woke kids that understand nothing of reality or care
It's energy weapon prototype.
I noticed that the announcement for the time doesn't match up to what's on the clock in the room at the first stop. Hmm? 😀
The guy @5:43 casually backtracking, hoping nobody noticed him getting lost on a dead end catwalk.
nlg Black Mesa graphics improved so much, this version isn't even too crazy anymore
Awesome, but i do miss the Barney greeting you midways and the walking robot.
God that looks amazing. But I think it needs the music. The tram portion is just not the same without it.
Black Mesa but somehow even better looking
I can see it really is in unreal engine by the traversal stutters
The graphics are very impressive. The map is very detailed.
Imagine you have to take this train ride every day to work xD
I wish this became a full game just imagine what surface tension would look like
they got rid of the spider bots 0/10
crowbar colllective! hire this man!
Epiiiiiiiic :0
I would do anything, and pay any amount of money, so the team behind this would continue to build the whole game. Black Mesa was amazing, and its the perfect remake, and i still want this to continue to a full game
me to man high five I new I wasn't the only who thought that
where can I get the blue sd70ace train model seen at 2:49
managed to get the entire Barney easter egg moment covered up.
Oh man. Are there anyway for the public to continue working on this is? :)
If the voice says it's 8:47, why does the clock read something like 3:30 if the hands were a bit wrong?
No one ever questioned about how ridiculous a trip this was just to get to your office!
Yo dawg, you got that commute to get to your commute to get to your office
ooh yes, love it!
the download link on the website doesn't work anymore😢
What a treat :]
This is like an anime about team fortress
The download links are dead. Were they removed for a reason, or can we get a fresh download?
Innovation Inc. Thermal Power Plant from Roblox literally has everything about this
DAMN this is beautiful
Current time is 8:47 AM, but the clock on the wall shows 2:30 XDXD
Real life footage of Black mesa:
This won't feel like half life without some orange. Add some citrus to make it taste like home.
This looks like Black Mesa with Doom Graphics
Amazing prequel ;)
2:13 It's a good nod towards TSA but as a top secret research institution, I don't believe there's any concern of passenger mischief onboard the tram system.
i just want to work there.
0:00 - the escalator moves, but most people don't. Freaky!
Where i can fid it? :d
Quite cool.
19 seconds in, OH WOW! This is good!
Is the Lamda Project just intro or is there a game play also there?
but it doesn't have that source game vibe
I am craving some Half-life. I bet a full recreation in Unreal 4 or 5 would sell like hotcakes!
they are not making it a full game though
@@OlafPawbelt that's just sad
@@23masterOf_salt meh i understand them, it takes time. Look at the black mesa team, took them several years to make the whole game they did.
