- Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is the most common English title of the 10th and last movement of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147 composed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1716 and 1723.

I never understood why the English title for this song is "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" when the literal translation of the German title is "Jesus Remains My Joy". The German title and lyrics give the song a far more personal meaning.
The other title it is known as in German is: Jesus bleibet meine Freude.. But bc that translation is singular..it's translated to be applicable for all people.. Hence Joy of MAN's desiring!!

I'm absolutely blown away. :) It's long and simple notes you're playing, but it's those same, simple notes that brought me to tears when listening to your incredibly indescribable music. Your tone is absolutely astonishing, and as a fifteen-year-old trumpet player, I wish I could express as much feeling and emotion into my playing as you do. Jesus is in my heart and I know he is in yours as well. You can show the grace of God through your music, Kevin. Don't stop. Ever.

I came here to see another performance of this incredible piece for comparison after seeing (on youtube) Stjepan Hauser playing this on cello with the Zagreb Orchestra in a classical concert he did there in 2018. I humbly suggest others do the same...you will NOT be disappointed!
