For anyone watching this: YOU NEED A WHEEL CLEANER with IRON Remover / Fallout Cleaner in it .
-Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner (non-acid) (goes on yellow, turns purple when eating attacking the iron/rust )
-Adam's Wheel Cleaner (not the eco version, the regular one --turquoise)
-Meguiars Ultimate Wheel Cleaner
All of these above product will disolve/eat/get rid of iron usually it has to sit 3-5minuts & thoroughly rinse after agitating on the wheels.
If you have these little rust dots all over your white/silver & light coloured paint : Sonax , Adams , Meguiars, Iron X and others make their paint/iron remover and works the same way , just dont use a wheel brush on the paint.
-Wheel Cleaner with Iron remover video > ruclips.net/video/bUgWSBbJiR8/видео.html
-Paint Iron Remover Video > ruclips.net/video/OlIK_4xHqEM/видео.html
-Again you dont have to just Adam's Polishes product only, any of the above are good to use, they have a little smell .
I watched most of this video -- skipping much of the front half because I KNOW where rust comes from. The end of the title of this video reads "How to clean it off!" And I learned nothing. Not one thing. Your rusty wheel looks as bad at the end as it did in the beginning. I want this 11 minutes of my life back.
Glass cleaner or winter washer fluid works really well with rust.
What I got from this video:
Rust comes from steel. Rust is red.
His beard is red therefore he is made of steel.
His beard will rust away, but he can get a replacement beard at 1A Auto.
I'll have to take your word on this one, chief.
Bravo, Sir!
Use meguiars all wheel cleaner it causes a chemical reaction with the rust and dissolves it. No scrubbing necessary and it's available at most stores.
Thank You,,my Dads truck hadnt been driven for a long while before he gave it to me for a gift ,He was Very staunch on the up keep & maintenance of it Always,I know now what I need to do to on my part😊
An actual wheel cleaner with iron remover would work. Bar keepers friend and a tooth brush works well for the embedded particles on the barrels. Make a paste in a cup with water and apply, rinse with hose or pressure washer. Good as new.
Metal polish works great! 👍🏼
Thanks I have a little rust on my aluminum rims. I will definitely try the glass cleaner. Any particular brand?
Just what I needed for my Rims thanks!
What did you need, a way to NOT get them clean? He didn't even clean them?
This phenomenon was a royal pain until I adressed this issue by using "rust free" rotors. Front ATE rotors and ceramic pads: 2 years almost like new, rear 1 year likely the same.
Wouldn't ever let mine get that bad , they use too have a product out there called allium-Bright and it worked real well . But not sure it's still still out there . Great video
There's a specific wheel cleaner we have here in Australia. You spray it on and the chemical reacts with the ferrous material in brake dust and turns purple. Then you hit it with a pressure washer and all the stuff comes right off. Surely something like that is available where you are
I think every brake has iron fallout remover.
I think this guy's point is it's more effort than its worth if the car is just a beater.
What is it called?
@@tarawilliams8721 look for iron remover for wheels
That's a very rusty car. I want to put some rust converter and then brush all the rust and repaint. I just can't sleep thinking about that rusts.
Super clean full strength for rims and tires is the ticket !
Never use that on non painted aluminum or it will etch it
I'd worry abouth those rear shocks more than that dirty wheel. Good God man!
Same here lol
Not really. Might not look pretty, but if she's still damping, and it's not weeping oil, she's fine.
One would think you've never seen rust before :P
Also, that's just a dust cover that's disappearing. They largely aren't required as many cars don't even have those bits.
This guys got his priorities mixed up lol
Maybe its in purpose to fix in another video
My 2004 Sequoia wheels are alloys. The outer chrome layer has peeled off and underneath is just a rough surface. Could get them refurbished but too expensive so leave them as is.
This is a critical comment but not mean spirited, not meant to discourage you and not meant as a put down. I like 1A Auto channel.
Please, rotors and drums are cast iron, not steel. It's important to get things right as 8300 viewers now think that rotors are made of steel.
Thanks for explaining the cause of the problem. I don't think you really covered a solution however, just some things that sort of work.
Another awesome video! Great tips, terrific energy!
+edlopez5k Thanks for the feedback!
Oven cleaner like Easy Off, and a some Dawn dish soap with a plastic dish pad works. No abrasives like Scotch Brite.
+@KarateSensei71 Thanks for the tip!
Oven cleaner on the rims and some spray on tire shine to make the tires deep black.
I love these videos. I watch them all the time because you guys explain everything and give great tips.
Very helpful, thanks.
This truck is a total rustical. Even the shock absorber is disentigrated..
Go to Home Depot or lowes and buy “iron out” spray. Spray and let soak, then pressure wash. No scrubbing needed
Thank you...!
It happened to me once while changing the brakes an idiot mechanic had rust on the floor & just set my 4 wheels on it, the rust dust was blowen like dust & sow it I thought it won't stick but it did for long long time & I never had time for it...!

Iron out worked real well on a painted wheel!
These vids are great!
You explain thing perfectly! surbscribed.
Just use some fallout remover. The iron X product dissolves the iron particles
You should have done with the old soda trick Coke it works wonders
excellent video
Info is nice to know on where the rust may come from i.e. the brakes. But the topic is rust removal on the Aluminum rims. You open 2/3 of this video first explaining the where it came from. Maybe address the issue re the topic first.
just want to comment how much this guy is awesome in his acting
Try Lime Away with fine steel wool.
what you need is iron remover, any brand
I love Len!
Amazing video my friend
Aluminum corrosion is responsible for porosity air leakage from aluminum wheels that are vintage.
Uhhh, that's not aluminium corrosion in this video, he literally explains why it's rusty.
In fact, no one even mentioned aluminium corrosion...
That's called raildust. Somewhere in the life of those rims the brakes went metal to metal.
BigE is correct (raildust , brake dust, environmental fallout, iron ...its caused by many reasons brakes being one , but you get a lot of build up on the back trunk, hood, and the lower portion of the car doors ) Iron Remover/Fallout Cleaner is needed to remove it, specifically you can get wheel cleaner with iron remover in it (Adams Wheel Cleaner , Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner, Meguiar's Ultimate Wheel Cleaner )
regular paint versions would work too, from those companies and or iron x....just dont let it sit more than 5minutes, keep the paint or rim cool and thoroughly rinse after agitating with a wheel brush.
i mean a decent amount of basid info about brake systems but none of those gave any good info about cleaning deeply stuck on rust... was mostly showing ways that don't work was kind of expecting some actual good products to remove it lol. good video still
edit: also i do know that using white vinegar and certain other rust removing oils can work pretty well. ive heard like a baking soda past can work but never personally tried it. If it's heavily coated on there like on the inner area or the video starting with a little of a good cleaner and letting it sit for a tiny bit and using w super fine grit sandpapper to break up the outer cakee on layer and then using a rsg or papper towels can do a decent job.
Excellent
Malco iron blaster will do the trick👌🏼😷
ATF is a good anti-rust too.
Will this work on gloss black painted wheels?
TIA
Awesome information 👏 👌 👍🏿
@5:40 Nailed It! 😂
But why would I have rust on a new car? I have had it for 4 months and when at work I park in garage. At home I don't have garage. I live in South Florida. So I wasn't sure if it was tire shine someone used when washing my car that did it. But feel like it was given to me like this. I custom ordered this car brand new so I think it's odd. I see it on one side of car. I have to check other side of car.
Really good video ❤
Damn things rusted my black rims on the rear. The rotor is stuck on the wheel hub as well.
There is a chemical called Evapo-Rust which literally releases rust off from the base metal. It does not attack the base metal nor does it chemically interact with the rust. It releases the physical bond the rust has with the metal, which causes it to simply fall off. It's the same effect as brushing it off with a wire brush ... only without the brush. Usually this is done by immersing the metal into a bath of the liquid, so removing the rim in this case may be the best method, and you will need a good amount. But it's entirely safe, non-toxic and bio-friendly. And it can be used over and over ... just collect it after use and store it.
ruclips.net/video/MO4lFxl6oE4/видео.html&ab_channel=Evapo-Rust
Seems to me the degreaser with the brillow pad would work the best. I may try that on my truck today. I have 1 wheel that looks like the one in the vid. (if it's not too hot) Great video. I was hoping 1Aauto had something I could spray on and wash off. :-) Oh well, can't have everything.
Nice entertaining as well meaning you , but great info
Love you from India
It’s not actually the aluminum rusting it’s corrosion from other rusted parts dusting and building up on the aluminum
Since the video doesnt tell you how. From a professional detailer. Use an iron remover and if needed acid diluted 4/1
Hi, I have super duty ford 550 model 2011 and its get no acceleration once its reaches 120speed and starts jumping like going to switch off but does not. What do you think
+Mohammed AlBalushi We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
@@1AAuto we don't have mechanics unfortunately. They only know how to replace the parts. BTW your replay mad my day thank you. 😍
Nitrous oxide should do the trick😎
Needed to try vinegar or CLR instead of the wet wipes 😂.
Likely better than all the shown….wouldn’t experiment on $$$ wheels.
How about CLR for cleaning, has anyone tried it, is is too corrosive?
Not safe for aluminum, get a real wheel cleaner
What about rust dissolver
There is stuff that makes this turn purple and then it comes right off with a pressure washer
Iron remover
With some #0000 steel wool. 👌🏼
I tried the extra fine steel wool. It works but also takes the paint off.
The black dot on the left bottom of the video is bothering me lol
My god do the frame
Good
2:32 Dude, replace that shock absorber! Semi-metallic pads may last longer, but they'll eat your rotors faster. Pay me now, or pay me later.
Nout wrong with that shocker as long as it's damping and it's not leaking. That's just the protective boot that many cars don't even have.
Thank you everyone at 1A Auto. I really appreciate you taking the time to EXPLAIN the way Step by Step instructions. You Guys and Gals are TRUE American HEROS. In this TIME of a Pandemic and money is short.Thank you HEROS,for everything....
+James Shepard Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Tell me this vehicle is from the rust belt without telling me it's from the rust belt....lol
What vehicle is this?
Chrome is what rusts, not aluminum. Chrome does stick to a magnet 🧲, such as on chromed aluminum rims. Try this with a small magnet 🧲, it will stick. Your friend, Jeff.
i dont think thats rust. just years of brake dust buildup
I can't stop hearing verical lol
Welcome to the party pal...haha
You didn't notice "expecially"?
10.53” watching for at the end
Can get any solution ! What a shame!
Jesus! The frame is rusted and the struts.
Try c.l.r cleaner
el óxido lo eliminas con vinagre
Dry Steel wool 0000 would outdo all those items with excellent results 💯
The rust in aluminum is white color but definitely them get rusty.
Why you didn't try using a Rust Removal Cleaner?
Because it's not rust, it's brake dust
Dudes apparently never heard of oven cleaner
The underside of that vehicle is disgusting. Look at the rusted out frame rails and the corroded shocks. The whole brake assembly is completely rotted. Wow.
Use Easy off
This is a very poor guide!! (Unlike most off your other guides).
Wheels should be cleaned with... wheel cleaners!
There are many types! Some are exceptionally good at removing brake dust safely!
Alkaline ones shift grease and grime well, acidic ones are super effective, but need to be thoroughly rinsed, else they gradually erode the wheel's clearcoat itself, and the "iron bleeding" types are expensive, but effective overall and safe (eg Meguiars Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner). Worst case wheels like this just need extra work (i.e. repeated cleaning attempts).
maybe a magic eraser?
I think those shocks are gone
With microfiber it's way easier
❤
@5:42 🦁 🦁 🦁
S.O.S. Pad.
so basically you don't clean it off. just paint over it. could have saved me 11 minutes. Thanks a lot youtube for taking away the dislike button. if it was still there then id be able to see this was not helpful at all.
Please don’t do anything this guy says, just get a wheel cleaner….
Rust on Aluminum 😳😂
aluminum rusts
too much work
1st
Tinfoil and coke Trust me :-)
Wow. What a total waste of time. 11 minutes to he exact. Not helpful at all. Didn't even show us how to remove the rust.
Oven cleaner for a couple seconds will get you started
Not safe for aluminum
Worst video I’ve watched in a while
What a joke is this video
