- Hello guys,
in this video i will show you how to make wheel cleaner solution that really works and is very cheap and you can make it with household items using baking soda and vinegar.
thank you for watching. Авто/Мото
This mixture took very very stubborn wheel dust & grease staining right off with a little brushing. Works fabulously !
That's a good idea using common household products , that actually do the job 👍
Time to clean my wheels and I’m going to try this trick. Thanks for sharing!
Well done about to buy some tommorow home made for me👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job. You made it look really easy. You inspired me to clean my break dust off too.
Thanks for the idea! I’m not looking for a mirror finish and I don’t want to work very hard on it either. I think I’ll try this.👍🏼☮️
I am going to Dollar Tree & purchase these products to clean my alloy wheels. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Looks good. I'm gonna try it.
I'm also going to try this thank you for the idea 💡 great job!!!
No more brand wheel cleaner for me. Make my own!!!!!
Awesome, glad it helped
Say good bye to your clear coat😂😂
@@nikakiofficial8721 I was about to say which part damages the clear coat, then I saw him using a toothbrush 😶. I assume that's what you're talking about 🤣
@@fakejeepman06 acid breaks the coat
@@muhammadabie7629 yeah that doesn't help either 🤣
Way cheaper and eco friendly ... Works awesome
I tried it its working very well
Excellent! I have a 5-year old vehicle. Never cleaned the wheels! Didn't have the pure vinegar at home at the time but still had a mix of vinegar, salt, and dish soap to kill the weeds. Just added baking soda to it to try, and voilà - 1 minute a wheel and the wheels are sparkling clean! Thanks a lot for the advise!
Dont use salt on alumunium wheels
I'm gonna try it..Thanks for the video
Works amazing on dirty yellowing headlights as well.
Wow!! Will do this ♥️🙌🏻
ever dreamed of using a funnel???
WTF, seriously?? CW that sht just crippled me! Nice comment/question! ;-)
My 6yr. old said the same exact thing lol!
What is this funnel you speak of.Is this some sort of future alien tech 😝
Just get a life
😂
Great job... Trying this one
Good one mate, works a treat 👍 looks great …
Looking though at that much brake dust and the scoring on your disc rotors, I’d say someone may be a little heavy on the old brake pedal 🤣👍
Your rims are looking so much better!
Thank you for the video. I have a 2004 Corolla with aluminum rims. The front rims are just filthy with brake dust, much worse than the before version of your rims. I was wondering if baking soda would work. So know I know to add vinegar as well.
A happy rest of the summer to you and your family!
Thank you my friend same to you, adding vinegar it neutralizes the mix so it doesn't damage the paint.
Willl this work for extreme brake dust inside part of the wheels?
Excellent!
What about the tires, can I clean them with this solution as well ?
THANX FOR THE TIP!!!
Great tip!!!!
Great video! Thanks for pre testing it for us!
Good job thanks
Good job!
Great Acide + Alcaline .
You success as yours rims was just cover with dust and dirt , wouldn't work on old rusty rims with green oxidisation smut.
Exactly. he made water. Good Work.
Ben Muller not just water, but salt water lol
I saw a test using wheel cleaners and all purpose cleaners and basically concluded that the results are the same. I have a ton of garage type heavy duty concentrate cleaners (simple green airplane parts extreme, simple green motorsports extreme, por-15, etc…). I tried to test these again a cheaper McGuires yesterday and the BiG problem I had was that those cleaners dry so dang fast while the dedicated wheel cleaner would foam and be able to stay on surface much longer before drying. Wonder if I should add a little dish soap to those cleaners to help foam. Or maybe it is just the nossle that provides the foam action?
Man amazing
awesome!!!!!
Thanks
You can give a man a funnel and no spills for a day but,
Teach a man to use a funnel and no more spillage.
Use the vinegar and after use baking soda and water solutions to neutralize the vinegar.🤔
What were the proportions of baking soda to vinegar?
Will it also work on my bike metallic color alloy rim and my rim is clean but its shine does not any more will it bring shine back too ?
Thanks VERY much for this more eco-friendly alternative! I understand that store-bought wheel cleaners can be very caustic.
What is the ratio of vinegar to baking soda that you used for this job?
Also pricey. Like $15 for a bottle from the store
Also pricey. Like $15 for a bottle from the store
Your rims are not so dirty because dirt hasn’t still infiltrate rim material. It could be removed even with soapy water.
True
on point
Thanks.
Great job!
Thank you
Can I use this on my rotors too?
Awesome bro!
Thank you
Heavy duty sprayer =homedepot ZEP spray bottle-or buy the spray scrubbing bubbles =great idea cuz
You will be all day cleaning them rims but they are clean..
You can also try only with detergent, very cheap
what is the point? Vinegar is acidic and soda is alcalinik, you just made a neutral substance. For rims is better to use just vinegar
Yes, it creates a neutralized solvent that cleans and doesn't damage surfaces
@@GK7GARAGE wrong dude, it creates just a salty substance the end, its neutral, you are left with is sodium acetate and water. Alloy disks are not damaged by some acids, so using and Acid around 2-3 PH is safe for couple of minutes, aluminum disks doesn't like high PH. If you would use some dish soap and a brush you would have the same result, maybe even better.
Ever tried using a power jet spray 🤣🤣. Just as good and better removal of dirt.
Nice video but those rims have been recently cleaned. How about a cleaner to remove caked on brake dust that's stuck on opposite side of rim??
DropHammer77 that would be the real test. He had no comparisons so who really knows if it works.
I kept my chrome rims on during winter and they are filthy. Now I am trying to clean them
Neutralising acid? Hmm. Try hot soapy water. Same pH
will this work with regular white vinegar or does it only work with the cleaning vinegar?
Either one should work
You must follow up with a sealer wax
Are these chrome
I Did It with bathroom cleaner water vinegar And abrasive cream
Can you use normal vinegar
Cleaning vinegar is less harsh on surfaces
It would help to get the proper measurements to mix it correctly.
It would have helped if he would have given how much vinegar and how much baking powder
Knew he was going to do that by the amount of baking powder he was showing in there
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 try it on some proper stained wheels and see the results
Simple soap and water would work for brake dust, what you want to find a solution for it rust or corroded wheels
True. just trying new things and hopefully I come out with something good. Thanks
That's not always true.
Look where thr rag gently wiped across the edge of the spoke where you didnt apply your magic solution. Same effect. Lol
I saw that too🤣
He said he sprayed them down first & it didn't come off. So it probably loosened up crap by just spraying them down but it didn't run right off.
Shit!...this way will take way too long. Go to Dollar Tree and some Awesome ($1.00). No acid. Spray it on any wheel...let it stay on the wheel for a couple of minutes then use your hose to spray it off..no wiping. Can be used on tires also but you may need to scrub those a bit. Works for my alloy wheels. makes them look like showroom condition. Use it in a well ventilated area.
Buy some awesome what?
I just bought some Awesome - do you dilute it at all or spray straight on?
I use that shit on everything
If we can get this solution to foam on atomization using a spraying mechanism, I think you have a winner. Can we add a little bit of car wash soap to it and see what happens? Need to get this to a spray bottle and make it touch less capable, i understand a little bit of agitation is required which is fine, i can run wheel woolies to get that done, using a tooth brush to get to 4 wheels!?
We can try that
Fully agree with you, Oliver.
why do you mix vinegar and baking soda, they cancel each other out.
You must also believe that schnozberries taste like a schnozberry 🤣🤣
bro i just want to clean my felg because i find felg
Could you please tell the ratio of baking soda and vineger
I guess not... 8 months later.
that reaction is acid base it evolves heat carbon dioxide and a salt not toxic benign reaction for the most part. basically it’s water with grit just use vinegar
1:24 that seems funny
Doesn't work on extremely caked rims.
Those are newer wheels with very light surface dirt. BFD.
Who lets their wheels get that dirty? And why not spray it wit water first before applying the mix?
Next time use a thunnel.
You should wash with water first
you're scrubbing!!! soap same thung
Try it and watch nothing come off
Because baking soda is an abrasive?
Try to use clean water and brush.
Same result,you'll see ;-)
Soap and water does the same
T-Oyta - oy vey
Try a larger brush, this will take forever with a toothbrush. Takes me 2 minutes to brush my teeth, same toothbrush will take 2 hours on 4 large 19” wheels.
That would of come off with just soap and water ffs
NAPA ALUMINUM BRIGHTENER.
Spray on, rinse off.
Done!
who cleans his car rims every week???
I use waging up liquid and hot water a lot of wheel cleaners contain acid that damages the laquar.
Makes your spelling shite as well
Wear gloves & a mask - that dust is toxic :)
It's generally a good idea to know what you're talking about, instead of impulsively shooting your mouth off.
From The Los Angeles Times, February, 1991:
Under federal law, asbestos brake production is supposed to stop in 1993 and auto manufacturers are supposed to stop using it in new cars by 1995. By 1997, all asbestos brake linings are supposed to be off store shelves and out of new cars.
So your rant is out of date by at least 22 years.
Brake pads are semi-metallic, metallic or organic.
From Your Mechanic.com:
Organic brake pads comprise of non-metallic components like glass, rubber, and Kevlar bonded in resin. They are softer and perform better in high temperature conditions because the heat further binds the components together. Previously, organic brake pads had asbestos components, but users found that on braking, the friction resulted in asbestos dust that is very dangerous to breathe. This is why manufacturers phased out this material and the newest organic brake pads are often also called non-asbestos organic brake pads.
shut up !!
That's Bicarbonate of soda.
Baking soda contains cream of tartar, there is a big difference.
Cream of tartar contains both.
Anto Ma
Baking powder contains cream of tartar.
Toothbrush? Uh....
I use my wife`s toothbrush
Hmmm, too much work, the point is to make it easier, i can do that with my regular cleaning...sorry...LOL
What is your regular cleaning
Not great 👎🏼
You made sodium acetate, carbon dioxide and water. Worthless as a cleaning agent. Looks like you used it as a mild abrasive.
Test baking soda and vinegar separately instead of mixing them. If the brake dust is metallic, try citric acid, which is a chelate.
His mix obviously worked. You are arguing with success. And a mild abrasive is just the thing for removing brake dust.
Good old Wikipedia tells me that citric acid is indeed a chelating agent. But where would I buy citric acid? And why would I need to, when this baking soda and vinegar mix works just fine?
Anthony Starfield
Wiki says Walmart and Target sell citric acid. Others in canning section. >90% of LemiShine dishwasher rinse aid is citric acid.
I was pointing out what happens when they react. You get sodium acetate, water, and carbon dioxide.
Last brake dust cleaner I bought contained hydrofluoric acid. It and nonwoven green pot scrubber still didn’t remove all, hence my skepticism. This may work on alloy wheels that still have a slick, protective lacquer coating. Mine had worn away; porous metal was very difficult to clean.
A valid comparison test would be to use plain water, and compare it and his to a mild detergent and maybe a brake dust cleaner.
Just wash the wheels and they would clean up anyway
all you did was make more water.... you failed chemistry didn't you!
A damp cloth would have worked on those wheels
I agree. I always wonder why people think a combination of baking soda and vinegar makes a great cleaning agent. Combining the two ingredients makes salty water.
Nein! The easy dust will come off easy not the black baked on shit!
Your car wheel is NOT even stained. Just dusty.
