Can break dust melt rim coat, and leave permanent scratches? Brand new car was spitting black/brown fluid from calipers area, and because i didnt have all accesories for pressure washer, inside of rims werent cleaned for about a month. After that month, all dirt in barrel, just left permanent marks of caliper or pads throwing liquid to rim. Only uncoated barrel has the marks. Outside/clear coated section is perfect. Not to knock your product but a dedicated inner wheel foam block+car wash soap couldve done the same job faster minus chemicals, and wasting of water. I wouldnt want a caustic solution on my tires either.
I agree with 'Wesside', for the amount of solution and water and you still had to scrub the wheels. Not sure this was a great demonstration of the product. Many other Wheel Cleaners would have removed more grime with a whole lot less water.
I do the inside of my rims everyday due to my aftermarket rims, my whole hand fits in between the spokes ( the reason why I bought the rims....they look like HRE P101's but don't cost 2.5k a piece). Takes me 3min per rim with a damp towel. Brake dust eats away at the coatings of the rims and powder coated calipers if not cleaned regularly...contigent on how many miles you put on the car daily.
Auto Fanatic - not only that, but when I diy my tire rotation (every 7k miles), I clean the suspension components: springs, shocks, sway bar & links, upper & lower arms, tie rods, steering rack, wheel well plastic & parts of the frame. Auto Fanatic oh I see, I wasn't being funny, just didn't sound right. Here in the UK a 2018 plate vehicle is classed as such upon when it was registered. :)
In North America we dont have number plates specific for the year of the car. We get random number plates (or pay extra for custom plates) and we can register them for any car... some people have had the same plate for 20+ years with multiple cars...
Maybe you don't, but for people who are enthusiasts and have 5 spoke wheels, the inner barrel can be seen quite well and some just like their wheels clean before a show/event
@@yeeyee5054 Yep I get that....with mine you can see it from the outside so that's why I do it. But yea if you can't really see the inside of the wheels then why bother?
That’s good stuff, usually I’ll take an old battery drill a hole in it let the battery acid drain into a bucket and use a regular old paint brush and it gets EVERYTHING OUT. And yes I use safety gloves while doing it.
Good video BUT, why don't you "articulate" that wand from a "below angle" in order to hit the spokes at 11 to 2 O'clock which remained virtually un-touched by both the pre-solution AND the foam??? Drives me a bit crazy to see that, LOL!
my brake pads caught something and it scraped the rotor and it produced tiny metal shivers then adhered to the clear coat of the rim, my rim looks rusty, how could i remove this?

100% yes Merry Christmas on this mild NY Day. Pick some up the new version kicks ass and can be now used in a foam cannon watch some of my latest videos on the channel
I use Autoglymn engine machine cleaner on the inside of the rims and it works better than any wheel cleaner. I then apply a coat of wax to protect them.Great demo .
More times than not the protective coatings manufacturers put on wheels is usually just applied to the outside of the wheel even with more open designs where you can see a lot of the inside of the wheel. I found a product that works fast and good it's Ultra Brite Wheel Acid from Sundial in Tampa FL. But you have to work fast with it and use nitrile gloves and I use a respirator that I also use while buffing. It's harsh stuff and you can burn a wheel if your not quick. I work a quarter of a wheel at a time and rinse quickly. Very little agitation needed.
@@autofanaticcars I've never had an issue. I wash cars with it to remove hard water spots. Dilution, temperature, time, material you using it on are all factors. Been using wheel acid (Hydrophloric) for 3 decades. You just have to be carefull. Why scrub a wheel 3 or 4 times when you can spray and pressure wash and be done?
it catches up to you long term that why, acid also badly affects the brake system and premature rust even with diluted ratios because sometimes you miss during a rinse down. i think if you tried my wheel cleaner you would enjoy doing it without gloves and a mask
And the name of the product is?????? I must say this is an impressive cleaner. I have cleaned wheels to this level but it requires a ton of elbow grease and time to achieve this level of clean. Not sure if the power washer makes that much difference over a garden hose or is just quicker.
Why does my 92 Jeep Cherokee, 83 VW Rabbit GTi and 77 Chevy Pickup not produce brake dust. But this 18 does, my parents 05 Jettas do as well. Is it a new car thing?
many videos on my channel that show the process further. this video is old and was the early version of the Auto Fanatic Wheel Cleaner we released it now for the past 1.5 years and are on the 3rd version and its awesome, safe, no fumes, highest lubrication and will not corrode the calipers, brake hardware or strip the finish.

Auto Fanatic haha, certainly from our perspective, yes. I'm surprised you think so too. Very informative video, thanks for posting! :)
In North America we dont have number plates specific for the year of the car. We get random number plates (or pay extra for custom plates) and we can register them for any car... some people have had the same plate for 20+ years with multiple cars...
So why do you need to clean the inside of the wheels, especially if you can't see it?
Do you service vehicles in southern California?
He said he was in New Your like three or four times
The end result was amazing. It looks 100% better than it did when the video started. Thumbs up!
Don’t see the point 😂
We replaced our Disk Pads with CERAMIC Pads.75% less Dust, Vented Brake Disk adn Better Calipers and Calipers were painted Blue and Our Chrome Wheels were coated on the Inside & Outside , w/2 coats of Clearcoat...
But do the wheels have the finish on them still?
once you clean the wheel.. is there anything to keep it from building brake dust and crap from trashing the wheel again... or is washing the only way to keep the wheels clean
you can apply good waxes some guys use ceramic coatings but washing properly often is the best solution.
Have you tried the Bilthamber auto wheel
What is that attachment youre using?
Ya it looks like some came off with just a touch and mine I bought used and probably haven't really been cleaning inside ever so 8 months I don't think is that bad
Interesting, however I have seen similar results with Simple Green with minor agitation, no etching or surface damage and its 100% non toxic.
Thank you for this
Merry Christmas. Ny here also. Long island.. been waiting for this cleaner for a while. Cant wait to try it for the first time .. ceramic safe?
100% yes Merry Christmas on this mild NY Day. Pick some up the new version kicks ass and can be now used in a foam cannon watch some of my latest videos on the channel
@@autofanaticcars will do. Getting my first foam cannon next week. IK pro 12. Just subscribed also
Is that wheel balanced?I don't see any weights
I use Autoglymn engine machine cleaner on the inside of the rims and it works better than any wheel cleaner. I then apply a coat of wax to protect them.Great demo .
How you would clean the barrels mounted in the car with those tight spokes?
wheels off the car only solution
More times than not the protective coatings manufacturers put on wheels is usually just applied to the outside of the wheel even with more open designs where you can see a lot of the inside of the wheel. I found a product that works fast and good it's Ultra Brite Wheel Acid from Sundial in Tampa FL. But you have to work fast with it and use nitrile gloves and I use a respirator that I also use while buffing. It's harsh stuff and you can burn a wheel if your not quick. I work a quarter of a wheel at a time and rinse quickly. Very little agitation needed.
not worth using something that caustic imho
I need this my man👏👏👏
And the name of the product is?????? I must say this is an impressive cleaner. I have cleaned wheels to this level but it requires a ton of elbow grease and time to achieve this level of clean. Not sure if the power washer makes that much difference over a garden hose or is just quicker.
AF wheel cleaner watch all my other wheel videos on this channel showing this product in action. It is coming to market in a few weeks
Auto Fanatic thanks, will forward to getting some. I'm in Virginia, Norfolk
Can you tell us what solution did you use ? I’m from New York and my Bmw wheel is the same please let us know what solution you use . Thank you
Dont brake dust eat into the rim? I have lots of brown stains on mine. Cant get them off with a pressure washer.
Can you use this on the paint as a iron remover
the sole purpose of me developing this is not to have IRON REMOVER in it, too nasty and caustic to use that stuff FYI
You can save the finish. Use some lubricant and a claybar, these two will remove the embedded particles
Excellent channel 👍🏻
Why does my 92 Jeep Cherokee, 83 VW Rabbit GTi and 77 Chevy Pickup not produce brake dust. But this 18 does, my parents 05 Jettas do as well. Is it a new car thing?
newer cars use much more carbon in the brake pads
Where did you find those partitions that are supporting the tire?
Harbor Freight there like $6 each
*Does It Eat Away At Color/Paint Wheels?*
NO
10:15 maybe its tar from the tarmac? Try White spirit or thinner to remove the black dots, this is pretty common in the nordic countrys of europe!
8 months? Is that supposed to be a long time? My car has about 280 months of brake dust on them?
You should do a side by side of using just high pressure water alone vs the solution. I would be interested to see if the solution is even necessary.
many videos on my channel that show the process further. this video is old and was the early version of the Auto Fanatic Wheel Cleaner we released it now for the past 1.5 years and are on the 3rd version and its awesome, safe, no fumes, highest lubrication and will not corrode the calipers, brake hardware or strip the finish.
I like your hose nozzle where can I purchase one of those it seems like it's a lot stronger than the 1 that you buy at home depot and at Other stores please comment back
For a finnishing touch its good to wax the wheel so the dust wont stick that easy on it in the future miles. Greate video!
Rob Seb , good point, it works.
8 months of brake dust build up is a joke. I have 12 years of brake dust build up on the inside of my wheels. Nice video hopefully mine will clean up that nicely.
