3:07 You can also release the "Hold" by tapping again the brake and honestly it is better to do so because by pressing the accelerator it will start moving the car forward with a small "bump" (due to the force needed to overcome the brake hold) while by tapping the brake it will start moving slower but smoother.
You can also simply say “Hey Siri, skip song” and she will skip to the next song, or ask her to shuffle all songs, play whatever song, pause current song, etc. I do this daily. Obviously you need the iPhone. My Mercedes barely missed the Mercedes Me features, so Siri covers it.
Another great tips video Nick, I only discovered the rain sensor feature yesterday when my 2019 C43 was in for its service, I received a notification on my phone that the car had sensed rain and was closing the roof and windows, simply amazing
To my surprise I noticed I had left my wipers in the auto detect setting when I took the car in for a wash. Fortunately I caught it before the washing flaps hit the wipers.
Great video! Just an addition to #4 - Next Track Button, I just swipe the top middle of the trackpad. Left to go back/repeat and right to play next. This work on favourite radio stations, Apple Music and Bluetooth music streaming. Very easy to use while keeping eyes on the road.
I have a 2014 S550. I know of the brake hold feature which i use all the time. Don’t know if i have the auto rain close feature on the sunroof. During the next down pour I will try it 😉
Just here to point out that on tip #8 when you’re talking about range the blue circle indicates how far you can go using both electric and fuel. I’ve had an 2018 A-class and while it was Diesel, it showed the exact same range in your GPS system. Note that the hybrid systems in Mercedes have a range of about 80-100km max using electric only.
Another cracking video Nick, the adaptive headlights are superb, I was a bit nervous of dazzling oncoming drivers until I tried and it works superbly. Thanks again.
Hi Nick. Re smart cruise control when the car in front stops for more than 30seconds or you wish to pull away automatically after a red light period. Instead of touching throttle Pull away using a single or double click up on the right cruise control button and the car will pull away automatically without touching the throttle using the smart cruise control.
thank you m8ty. i had my E250 Converible 3yrs before i saw you tell me about the HOLD,, now. driving is even less stressful than it was....many thanks .
Great tips as usual. I've been using the HOLD feature since 2010 or 2012. Nick few questions: 1) Why is there a feature on the instrument panel to replace RMP with a small round navigation screen? What is the point when the display already has Navi. 2) Is the rain sensitive sunroof feature on the convertible top as well?
Thank you! I guess it’s just so people can choose, it gives you the option and you can choose what works for you 🤓 No sadly not on convertibles just on selected models with sunroofs
I actually use the round nav screen. I find it convenient to have it in front of me always, even at times when the central screen is being used for something else (passenger navigating media/ac controls/whatever). I have no use for the RPM anyway. I drive electric though.
The hold function was implemented in or before 2014. I knew it from a 2014 C300 commercial. Mercedes hold function is much better than other manufacturers’ hold. With Mercedes you can decide each time when you stop if you want to hold just using your foot. Natural. But most other brands assign a button for it you have to press/pull to engage or disengage. It’s very frustrating when you need it for one sec and then you stop a second time but you don’t need it (parking), but it holds itself again.
Hold function leaves the brake lights on. Highway Code rule 114 states: In stationary queues of traffic, drivers should apply the parking brake and, once the following traffic has stopped, take their foot off the footbrake to deactivate the vehicle brake lights. This will minimise glare to road users behind until the traffic moves again.
Hey Mitchell, don’t worry Mercedes have thought of that. They wouldn’t put something in car which conflicts with the Highway Code. On Mercedes cars, the brake lights brightness is significantly reduced during nighttime because of this. This will then of course reduce glare to other road users 👍🏼 I can’t remember the exact percentage that it is reduced but it was quite a lot!
Such great videos to be honest, easy to understand and helping to get the best out of these best cars. One question if you are available, do the different profiles in the MBUX system save the seating positions 1-3 separately? Thanks a lot!!
Thank you! 🙏 glad you enjoy them! Got some more stuff planned soon! Some models do, depends on the model that you have. If it has MBUX NTG 6 then most of the time each profile has 3 memory settings. Great one as usual thanks I see the beautiful roof box next you at the end of the video. Are planning to record some tips and tricks on how to install and improve safety and range while driving with roof box installed. Thanks again
Always worth watching your videos because l have learnt another lesson from you. Holding the main beam on function because I have adaptive headlamps. I never thought to turn off the auto lights function. 👍😀
Love your videos! Would you kindly do a tutorial on how to turn off the pesky service notification in the new AMG E63S? Hopefully it covers most models. Looking forward to the next video! Cheers!
Thanks myisf08, thanks for the suggestion! But sadly I don’t know how to do that :( Mercedes-Benz staff / technicians would probably know but most likely can only reset it if they themselves have carried out the service.
Hi Nick! Thanks for thr response. I think there's a way to do it. I've seen a few videos online but they were for older models. You seem to have a good rapport with the dealership, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind sharing that info with you. Best wishes!

What!!! No power seats?? 😂 but seriously I've never had the opportunity to use my adaptive head lamps. I love my Benz. I did get pulled over once. No ticket thankfully. An oncoming patrol unit near my home assumed my high beams were on. So I showed her my bright beams. Then I showed her the progressive intensity of the fog lamps. That even amazed me.
The hold feature is a life saver as my A class (2022) seems to roll back slightly when i accelerate after stopping eg at traffic lights using the hold feature seems to prevent that
Thank you for an Insight to the future! I just had the recall on my 2008 W211 Sunroof and now I have seen features that are not available to us drivers of old Mercs!
I’ve the auto full beam but have experienced issues dazzling oncoming traffic on A roads. It’s great on country lanes without traffic but in reality not so clever on other roads.
Hey Ahmed, basically some models have an AUTO full beam where it’ll dip the lights automatically when cars come toward you. This tip is how you override that feature and do it manually 🤓
Thanks for the video...most of them are cool. I have an automatic sunroof in the Mercedes which closes to ventilation position should it start raining. Why it is not closing completely in the event of rain? Staying in ventilating position will allow water to get inside the vehicle, affecting the upholstery. Any reason for this?

Now that I joined the Mercedes-Benz fam1 2days ago, am definitely subscribing to your channel for more information about Mercedes-Benz. Am so scared to even start messing with the settings. This helps. #NJ #USA
@@npoleary I just bought a 2022 AMG cla 35 and I can’t wait to use the hold feature now. I have a question. I have the leather seats with the red striping and the suede like material. Is it actually suede or something else? Thank you!
Fantastic video, Nick, as always. 👍🏻 Question: Will my 2019 A180 saloon have the auto adaptive headlight system? Can’t say that I’ve noticed the lights “adapting” while driving. 🤔
Hey Ken, really sorry I wouldn’t know, it depends on what specification you have on your car. If you speak with your local Mercedes they’ll be able to let you know! Or…if you look at your headlight housing, if it says LED High Performance Lights, this is manual full beam. However if it says MULTIBEAM LED, this is the auto one. Hope that helps! 🤓
Looking forward to trying out the hold feature, that’s amazing! Can you explain how to turn on and off the auto dimming headlights? I can’t seem to find it… maybe it’s not an option on my GLA-250?
Thank you! Be sure to check out my tips and tricks playlist that I’ve added to over the years 🤓 Covered that in this video: ruclips.net/video/ZROT4BlEnoA/видео.html No 6 in the list
Hey Chris, thank you! The voice assistant runs through Mercedes me, so just make sure: You have a Mercedes me Account Your car is linked Terms of Use Accepted And your Services are switched on either on the app or the Mercedes me website. Hope that helps!
Hi Nick, really useful videos. Is there a way to quickly zoom in and out on the map system? I have a E300 de and find it quite awkward to zoom in with the touch pad.
Hey Matt, if you have MBUX then you can pinch to zoom on the touchscreen itself. If it’s COMAND you can spin the wheel or use the touchpad in the middle to zoom in/out
Hi Nick, Thanks so much for all the tips you share ! I've got a question : there is no more touchpad on the A Class Mercedes in 2023. Is there any new tips / workaround about the 3:52 "Next Track Button" ? I guess I'll miss this feature so much 😢
I currently drive a 2020 GLA 200, with the touchpad. But I just ordered a CLA 250e, will get it at the end of the year. So... no touchpad 😢 Great for future tips and tricks for the A-Class facelift! Looking forward to it! 🤩
Hey nick I did ask you ages ago about “speed alert” it would be great vid to show people about it. As you know I had this on my car last year and I caught someone from Mercedes’ doing 100 MPH yes 100 MPH so please do this cheers. By the way great vid today 👍
You must know by now how we all look forward to Friday’s Nick O’Leary Mercedes videos and fish and chips! Can’t beat it.🇬🇧🇲🇹🇨🇮👍😍. When one day you decide to dedicate a video to the key fob, can I suggest you remember to add that while washing your Mercedes you can avoid the central locking and side mirrors going on and off as you wash near the handles by simply leaving the key in the centre console. I don’t know if you’ve already mentioned it elsewhere but I was thankful when I found out. Joseph
Fish Friday! Wooo! Oh yes deactivation of Keyless Go? I did cover that one on one of my tips and tricks somewhere…can’t remember which one off the top of my head Thank you though! Glad you’re loving the videos!
Dear Nick, a big hand from the Netherlands. I watch your excellent video's every friday. But I don't understand is why you keep saying in the beginning of the video ' hey guys'. Don't forget the ladies among us. 😉 👍
Love the hold feature. It's certainly not on 'all Mercedes Benz'. It came in 2011 with the W204. Interesting fact: MB incorporated this feature from their Citaro bus range.
Ah thanks for sharing! I only started my channel in 2020 so every car I had sat in I’d seen it but good to know there’s a date where it was introduced 🤓🙏
Nick I have definitely learned a lot about my Mercedes from you but there's one feature on this video that is way simpler than what you explained the change track you don't have to click on that you just have to swipe your finger across it whichever way you want to go back or forwards you don't have to click it and bring anything up on the screen just swipe in that area where the arrows are at
Hey John, really sorry my licence doesn’t cover towing and also I don’t own anything that can be towed so my knowledge on it is extremely limited. I know there are places that can fit tow bars to certain cars depending or not if they can. Bit of a tricky one!
Hi Nick, Thank you for your video. I have a problem with my driver seat. all the batons don't work and the seat don't move plus the heater switches on for 2 seconds and switches off. vehicle C200 2015. hope you can help
That doesn’t sound right! They should always work, have you spoken with Mercedes? Defo think you should speak to them and get a technician to check it out 👍🏼
Nick how do I turn off my interior movement sensor permanently on my GLA 200 Premium 2020. My dog travels with me a lot and I have to switch it off every time I leave him in the car.
Hey Mike, for your insurance it’ll always have to default to on so unfortunately you’ll have to toggle it off each time. There’s no way to sadly make it stay off.
Nick Does Samsung Music App work with MBUX? I noticed you said Apple Music works with "Hey Mercedes, Play Artist ........." But no mention of Android. Thanks Mark
Nick sorry ignore this you have answered my question. I need to plug in and select USB not Bluetooth to access Samsung Music. Not an issue now as i have purchased an "AA Wireless" Adaptor. I now stream Samsung Music Wirelessly and i can wireless charge my phone via the Mercedes charge pad. This Adaptor is brilliant, with an adaptor and app that works perfectly with MBUX (like they were made for each other). The home button on the steering wheel takes me to MBUX or Wireless Android Auto. I look forward to next Fridays video Thanks again, In Australia I have elevated you to "LEGEND STATUS" I have learnt so much and still a lot to learn. Cheers Mark Perth Western Australia
@@npoleary Apologies, my original response to this question seems to have disappeared. So i will post it again. I tried a couple of different adaptors but found the AA Wireless adaptor worked best with MBUX. I will give you the link below. Essentially it is an Adaptor and an Android App working together. What makes this one so much better? 1. No need to load an APK file onto the head unit. Impossible if there is no hard drive fitted. 2. The App gets updated with new vehicle models and bug fixes so its firmware is always up to date 3. Best of all the home button on my GLC 300 steering wheel controls the switching between Android and MBUX with one tap. 4. When in android auto you can use the radio and nav button on the dash control to select google maps/waze and samsumsung music/spotify etc. 5. It is pretty much seamless as if this adaptor was made for MBUX. I waited 3 months for my adaptors due to COVID. I can now use my charge pad to charge my phone without cables. I bought 2 adaptors as I fitted the other to my wifes I30 N Line I30. Their system is not as sophisticated as MBUX but works satisfactorily Nick I am not part of AA Wireless for the record but any Mercedes owner that want wireless Android NEEDS to get this. Finally if you have issues connecting, i did as i was told to delete my bluetooth connction to the car and start again to connect it up initially, their help desk is quick and helpful. Cheers Mark www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/
Hi Nick, enjoy all your videos , watch many . I purchased in car office. I have set it up for my email account it’s on my car MMI but when I open it it only displays “please wait”. I hv been on the merc. Q&A to get help and into my local dealer to ask for help but nothing has been forth coming. Do you know where I can go or what do I do for help . I did watch you video on setting up in car office and followed your step by step process but mine does not get to the add pin, when I try to open. Only as I say , please wait ? Hopeful you can advise . Many thanks 🙏🏻
Hey Toto, thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! Really sorry I’ve only used it a couple of times as it’s not really a feature I use day to day. I guess one thing they could try is if they remove the car from the account and link it back up just to see if that makes anything work? Other than that, I would imagine your local Mercedes would have to have a look with the car or your account just to double check it’s set up in the right way. Just thinking about it too, double check the permissions from the Office 365 / Gmail side as privacy settings that end may be blocking it.
3:07 You can also release the "Hold" by tapping again the brake and honestly it is better to do so because by pressing the accelerator it will start moving the car forward with a small "bump" (due to the force needed to overcome the brake hold) while by tapping the brake it will start moving slower but smoother.

Quick tip: To change track, you can also simply swipe the area where the skip button is left/right to skip.
Hey Lewis, yes you can on some!
I was going to mention it but sadly not all models have the “swipe” feature so thought I’d leave it.
I was about to write the same thing. I have a 21 CLA and it works on mine.

Now that I joined the Mercedes-Benz fam1 2days ago, am definitely subscribing to your channel for more information about Mercedes-Benz. Am so scared to even start messing with the settings. This helps. #NJ #USA
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos so far!
Ooo which model of Mercedes did you get? 👀
@@npoleary I got the 2022 GLC 300 4Matic. Am waiting for the EQS SUV to arrive in 🇺🇸. My dream car
Great video. Learned a lot.
Thanks Alex! 🤓😎
@@npoleary I just bought a 2022 AMG cla 35 and I can’t wait to use the hold feature now. I have a question. I have the leather seats with the red striping and the suede like material. Is it actually suede or something else? Thank you!
I believe it is yes 🤓
@@npoleary I love it even more now.
Fantastic video, Nick, as always. 👍🏻
Question: Will my 2019 A180 saloon have the auto adaptive headlight system? Can’t say that I’ve noticed the lights “adapting” while driving. 🤔
Hey Ken, really sorry I wouldn’t know, it depends on what specification you have on your car.
If you speak with your local Mercedes they’ll be able to let you know!
Or…if you look at your headlight housing, if it says LED High Performance Lights, this is manual full beam. However if it says MULTIBEAM LED, this is the auto one.
Hope that helps! 🤓
@@npoleary 🇬🇧 Many thanks for the info, Nick. I’m in the first category, so looking forward to “better next time “ I hope! 🥴 Cheers!
Mote than likely you won't have it. Its an expensive option. But worth it next time if you dont
Looking forward to trying out the hold feature, that’s amazing! Can you explain how to turn on and off the auto dimming headlights? I can’t seem to find it… maybe it’s not an option on my GLA-250?
Thank you!
Be sure to check out my tips and tricks playlist that I’ve added to over the years 🤓
Covered that in this video:

No 6 in the list
Love the hold feature
Love your videos
Thanks Roger! 😎
Hi Nick, great video! I have an issue with my 'hey Mercedes'.... It keeps saying currently offline. It was working fine. Any idea how I fix this?
Hey Chris, thank you!
The voice assistant runs through Mercedes me, so just make sure:
You have a Mercedes me Account
Your car is linked
Terms of Use Accepted
And your Services are switched on either on the app or the Mercedes me website.
Hope that helps!
@@npoleary thanks Nick. Yes I have a Mercedes Me account but that's not getting updates. I'll contact my dealer. Thanks for your reply 👍
My wife needs a steering wheel and brake on the passenger side. The hold feature is just an added stressor for her. I can't wait!
Cheers Nick 🍻
Hi Nick, really useful videos. Is there a way to quickly zoom in and out on the map system? I have a E300 de and find it quite awkward to zoom in with the touch pad.
Hey Matt, if you have MBUX then you can pinch to zoom on the touchscreen itself. If it’s COMAND you can spin the wheel or use the touchpad in the middle to zoom in/out
@@npoleary thanks, yes tried that, but it’s quite slow compared to the wheel.
I know about the brake hold in my car. I have a 2015 A180. You can switch the transmission to manual mode by shifting one of the paddles.
Hi Nick,
Thanks so much for all the tips you share !
I've got a question : there is no more touchpad on the A Class Mercedes in 2023.
Is there any new tips / workaround about the 3:52 "Next Track Button" ?
I guess I'll miss this feature so much 😢
No worries! Yes I defo will cover that in the future! 🤓
Do you have the new facelift A-Class? 🤓
I currently drive a 2020 GLA 200, with the touchpad.
But I just ordered a CLA 250e, will get it at the end of the year. So... no touchpad 😢
Great for future tips and tricks for the A-Class facelift!
Looking forward to it! 🤩
Hey nick
I did ask you ages ago about “speed alert” it would be great vid to show people about it. As you know I had this on my car last year and I caught someone from Mercedes’ doing 100 MPH yes 100 MPH so please do this cheers. By the way great vid today 👍
Hey Paul, yes I’m hoping to cover some Mercedes me tips and tricks soon! I’ll add it to the list of potential future videos 🤓
I did cover that one on one of my tips and tricks somewhere…can’t remember which one off the top of my head
Thank you though! Glad you’re loving the videos!
Luv the hold feature !
Dear Nick, a big hand from the Netherlands. I watch your excellent video's every friday. But I don't understand is why you keep saying in the beginning of the video ' hey guys'. Don't forget the ladies among us. 😉 👍
Haha thanks Nico! Glad you enjoy the videos!
Another great video as always Nick. Thanks for the tips mate. Like the weekly videos. 😀
Thanks Darryl! 🤓
I sure hope the brake pedal isn’t a hidden feature
Underrated comment
Love the hold feature. It's certainly not on 'all Mercedes Benz'. It came in 2011 with the W204. Interesting fact: MB incorporated this feature from their Citaro bus range.
Ah thanks for sharing! I only started my channel in 2020 so every car I had sat in I’d seen it but good to know there’s a date where it was introduced 🤓🙏
Nick I have definitely learned a lot about my Mercedes from you but there's one feature on this video that is way simpler than what you explained the change track you don't have to click on that you just have to swipe your finger across it whichever way you want to go back or forwards you don't have to click it and bring anything up on the screen just swipe in that area where the arrows are at
Thank you!
Some Mercedes you can do that (which is cool), some you can’t and have to press.
It depends on the touchpad 👍🏼
It not easy to determine your brother and sister when you have got 4 brothers and 3 sisters 😂
Hi Nick, Any chance you can do a video of fitting a tow bar (B class AMG)?
Ah awesome thanks Mark! Glad you managed to sort it!
Ooo that sounds interesting, what’s it called?
Thank you so much
There should be one video on most useless features 😬😬 handwriting recognition on touch pad would be my entry 😀
Mercedes should paid this guy ...
😜
I’m working on doing some more tips and tricks soon so keep an eye out! 👌🏼
