@Maxima Plane The heated side mirrors is hardly genius. I have a 8 year old Honda that does this 'genius' trick. (As to whether this info is covered in the Merc manual I don't know, but for my old car, the heated mirrors is mentioned). Same for A/C, for me at least, I have known for years and years that a) yes, run the A/C periodically in Winter to keep the seals in good shape b) using the A/C will defog the interior very quickly. Having just bought my E class I can safely say, you have taught me MORE than mercedes did about my car! Now off to see what other Tips and Tricks videos you have
Hi Nick. This is my 3rd day driving my car and I remember watching this video weeks before I got my A220. When I drove the car yesterday I knew I needed to rewatch this video again now that I have the car. Thank you for your Amazing videos. They are truly very very helpful. 😊
I've had my A220 for two months and I finally learned how to use the climate control, thank you Nick! It would be nice if all these dealers actually taught you this.
Had no idea the recirculation button would roll windows up if pressed & held. I also realized I need to utilize my Hey Mercedes more. Thanks as always for the tips & tricks.
Currently, cars are purchased online then just delivered. The person delivering the car tries to help but there is too much info (this was the case when I got my EQC). These videos have been absolutely brilliant and made me enjoy my merc even more. Thanks, Nick please keep making these videos. Great tempo and wonderfully explained. I am surprised Merc has not employed you yet 😀
That’s so true. I ordered mine online and a year ago and got it delivered now. And with all the chip shortages, the wireless charging has been removed and the track pace too. 😞 And as Mr. Mark said, they don’t give you all this info when you pick up Your car.
I deliver Mercs that have been purchased online and, you're right, it's just too much information for someone to take onboard. Factor that with the excitement of their brand new car pulling up on the drive! But, I do try and make sure they know the important basics like pairing their phone and all the safety features. I wouldn't want them trying to figure it out on their first drive. I think Mercedes should have video like these built into the system so that the user can access them when they need to find out something. Or at least give them a USB Stick with videos they can watch explaining all the features. I have a Range Rover and I found loads of official videos showing how things work. For features like Self Parking, Cruise Control, Lane Assist etc. it's essential
A/C should never be switched off. There is a lubricating oil that goes through with the gas and keeps the rubber seals hydrated and prevents leaks. Great video as usual Nick 👍
Had a look around a new C class this week when the A35 was getting serviced… new C interior with large central screen looks amazing, really moving the tech to the next level.
As a new owner, I found this video really helpful! Mercedes was very good while we were buying the car, but hasn't answered any questions after we'd bought it!
One of the things I recently noticed is that the lights around the air vents change colour as you change the temperature. Really cool when you notice. They go red when you turn up the temperature and blue as you turn it down.
Hi Nick, we've just got an EQB and love it, we have seen a few of your videos now and just wanted to say that they have been really helpful in getting to know our new Mercedes. This is our first Mercedes car (we've always had VW Group Cars) so it was getting used to a whole new system, but thanks to you it's been quite easy. Appreciate your time and effort in making these videos they really help.
Ah amazing thank you! Glad you enjoy them! I’ve got some more Mercedes videos coming soon! And as I run my RUclips Channel as a full time job I also cover VW and BMW too! Although there is more Mercedes stuff at the moment 👍🏼
Thank you so much Nick. I had to have my car delivered on 2nd March as we are still shielding. I really don’t think I would have been able to drive my hybrid without you. I use you as a instant reference. Maggie
Great video! I just got my GLE and was not quite familiar with the climate control system. I learned what would have taken me sometime to figure out by reading the manual. Thanks for your great instructional video.
Thanks again Nick for another useful video. Having the air conditioning on all the time also helps keep the system seals lubricated thus avoiding possible system leaks. I like the recirculation button hidden tip, very useful. Cheers... M
Funny thing about recirculation button. It always deactivate after some time. So it doesn’t always on in my W213 hybrid. With older model which still use slider, you can keep that on recirculation mode, very useful if you live in hot climate country.
Mercedes has set it to be deactivated because it could lead to low oxygen levels in the cabin and driver might face issues. That is because Mercedes cars are known to be very insulated which means not allowing much of fresh air. As such that circulation is turned off to allow fresh air in.
In the winter I used to just blast the heat on HI out of the vents in front of me, along with my heated seats. But I would get to hot and have to roll down the window and it would always fog up inside. Then I turned on auto with HI and it's way more comfortable not to hot and just enjoying the heat no fog.
Really love it how you explain and get in details with anything and everything a Mercedes owner needs to know. I haven't taken delivery of my Mercedes yet but i am already excited to check everything out that i am learning from you. Keep it up
On my c class (w205) holding the menu button down for 30secs resets the climate control to 22C/Sync/auto… perfect for after the passenger has been messing with the climate control!
Good to know I'm doing the right thing and having the AC on all year round. One tutorial you may not be able to do is how to connect to Android Auto wirelessly in an EQC - I wish you could!
Hey Steve sadly most models of Mercedes can’t make use of Wireless Android Auto as they don’t have a wireless receiver to do it. Hopefully future models will have it but we’ll have to wait and see!
I think your comment on the Aircon/Rest button is incorrect. I've got a B250e plug-in and it's got the Rest facility. I've never used it as the manual is a bit confusing so I will try it after watching your video. The pre-setting of the heater which I've been using in the winter seems to be a bit hit and miss. I've got2 days set on the weekly setting but if I put a one-off in and then put it back to weekly, it doesn't always work. Still, as always, very informative.
DID YOU KNOW? When using Hey Mercedes and the fan speed is at the higher levels, it will automatically lower the fan so it can hear your voice easier, and once you've finished saying the command, it will return to the original speed. Also you can use Hey Mercedes to turn on/off the front demister, which is very handy if you are not sure which button it is when driving. Again you can use Hey Mercedes to increase or decrease the fan speed.
Another good one Nick. If the climate control starts miss behaving it was the overhead unit which has a tiny fan blowing air over the temperature control unit. The filter blocks so temperature control goes haywire. Had mine replaced under warranty. The second one is different (no sunglasses holder anymore) also faulty started making a noise. They replaced it again But wait for it…with a standard one with no sunroof controls! No one noticed it was wrong! Still waiting for it on back order.
So I just picked up my 22 E53 and I love it and these videos are crazy with the little things I did not know. I am a second time Benz owner and my 05 CLK does not touch my current model. Great videos man. I have US version of course
Hi Nick. I really love your guides which have helped me understand my Merc a lot better! I’ve learned so much but one area I would love you to cover is accessing my Music on my usb stick under media. I find it so difficult to find what I want to listen to without scrolling down the hundreds of artists and albums I have on my stick! Many thanks Brian
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying them! Unless the windows are open maybe 🤓 Other than that, A/C units are so efficient these days that the impact is barley anything.
1:38 I really appreciate the bank of switches that I can feel for without taking my eyes off the road while driving. IMO the larger touch pad only screen on new models without switches is a retrograde step with respect to safety. I will be hanging on to my two MBs as long as possible and not replacing them with a newer models with what I consider to be inferior, and potentially dangerous, controls. ( It’s illegal to text while driving but designers consider it OK to take your eyes of the road to position your finger on a touch screen) I do hope the marketing people get the message that some people prefer knobs and switches and often have got better things to do than talk to their car while driving.
No, well not as far as I'm aware. It works in heat mode because it's using the hot water from the engine. In order to keep the car cool, it would need the air conditioning compressor to run. You'll get a few minutes of cool air because all the ducting will be cool but it will soon warm up.
Thank you for a helpful video. I have owned my 24 GLS for two weeks and have engaged my AC "rest" button as default. Tell me if you approve of "rest" being ok to be always on or if you have a preferred setup including "auto" for AC
Thank you! Unless if it’s different elsewhere in other countries, the rest mode is just for heating the car afterward (if the engine is warm). You can’t turn it on by default it’s just a thing you can turn on per session if needed.
Thank you! 🤗 I’ve noticed that, it’ll come out a tiny bit probably because of the way it’s configured behind the dashboard but most of it will come out where you say (like down to your feet) You always close the vents up top by twisting them 🤓
Great video again nick, without your informative teachings it would take months if not years to understand it all Great work thanks for your time. Kingsley
If you don’t have the menu button you can just tap the temperature number on the mbux screen and it’ll display all the climate controls graphically too.
Hi Nick, another excellent video, thanks. I like the colour change on the vent when heating turned up/down. Can this be done on an A250e (21 model). Cheers
Thank you Nick for the tips and tricks and all the videos ... the dealership simply cannot compete with the vast knowledge and support you have. I have a question with the venitllation on a 2022 B class petrol hybrid. For some reason, the ventillation does not retain the last settings when car was last switched off even after 1hr, 24hrs or longer. For instance, all ventillation settings is OFF and you lock the car for however long. When the car is unlocked, the fan blower setting is on at 1, A/C comes on and Auxillary control is lit blue when pre-climate control entry is OFF. I have tried with Synchronise Disabled and Enabled(in Profiles) but no avail.
Hey J Patel, thank you! Glad you’re enjoying all of the videos! I’ll try & keep them coming! Although that doesn’t sound quite right, have you got in touch with your local Mercedes? Hopefully they might be able to find out what’s going on!
Hi Nick. Thanks for the video. Is there a way to keep the air-recirculation ALWAYS ON please? as I need this due to heavy pollution issues. Most cars maintain their air-recirculation always ON but not Merc.
Hey Kenneth, no worries! 🤓 No sadly not, it’s not stated in the manual but I’d imagine it’s something to do with the carbon dioxide build up that we exhale. After a while it automatically reopens to allow fresh air in
Hi Nick, as usual great videos. So many small hidden features. My 2018 S213 with a diesel also has the Auxiliary Heating installed, so not only in Hybrids and EVs. As it uses diesel for the Aux Heat, it’s NOT a good idea to use in closed areas with little ventilation! And it’s quite noticeable (noisy) as well. But brilliant on a snowy or frosty morning. Within minutes nice and cozy and ‚clean’ windows. Controlled via Mercedes Me App or via separate remote control. Cheers, Tom
Oh yes there used to be a couple of models, S-Class, Marco Polo and G-Class with selected packages where you had this. Think it’s still on the Marco Polo but I haven’t seen one of those for a very long time
This is a great video you've put up for MB owners. Question - do we need to turn off the climate control system when before turning off or stopping the car? I have this habit of turning everything off (radio, AC, etc.) before pressing STOP. Is it still necessary in today's modern cars? Or do I just leave it running on AUTO and AC ON even after getting off the car?
Auto Drive? Mercedes-Benz have a package called Driving Assistance Package which can assist with dual carriageway and motorway driving among and a few other things. Is that the one you mean? I’ve covered it here: ruclips.net/video/LEqM2FqUIa8/видео.html
@@npoleary thats great. Ill keep a look out and 🔔 is on. I have been trying to find vids online for the 2021 a class dashboard but nothing...i know most are the similar but it would be good to see!
Phew thought I was watching last of the Mohicans lol, who cut your hair Nick we can go round and sort them out for you 😂. Great vid as usual I know more every time I watch your videos 👍
HI Nick. Another great video. I always like the instructional ones. One thing that confuses me about the different models is the type of suspension. Mine goes up/down only about half an inch when traveling at certain speeds(I think). How does this work? Is this still classified as air suspension? If not, is air still used to raise and lower? It would be helpful to actually see the springs and/or shock assembly and show how it works.
Hey Ralph, There sometimes an option on C-Class Saloons & Estates (depending on the country) for AIRMATIC which is adjustable suspension. In the UK though most models will only have adjustable suspension on selected AMG’s to grip the road more when taking corners at speed. I don’t recall seeing adjustable suspension on the C-Class Cabriolet but you can always check, when you change Dynamic Select, if you see on the screen it’s changing the suspension as well on the top, then you’ll have it. If not then it won’t be adjusting. Hope that helps!
@@npoleary Thanks Nick for taking time to explain this. I don't think I have Airmatic because I I have a coil over shock suspension. There is a button on the console. It has a picture of a car with an up arrow inside. When I press the button in sport mode, the car lower a fraction of an inch. This is some kind of level control, but I can't find any detailed info on this.
Thanks William! Glad you enjoy the other videos! I have covered the latest G63 here: ruclips.net/video/rkPa0yZan_g/видео.html Haven’t managed to get my hands on the diesel version though, they are quite rare!
The air inlet has a HEPA filter attached, and it will block out most all outside odors, including cows and opossums: (Remember to close the roof!!!) The sealed air cabin, has a "temporary switch" for outside air, keeping 0² levels in the normal range... (Since your vehicle is almost completely air tight from Mercedes-Benz).
I hope M-B are compensating you well for these amazing videos Nick!! Just collected my new A250 Premium Plus 2 days ago and your videos are a life saver...thanks a lot!
Thank you AJ luvzlondo, Ah no all of these videos are produced by me in my spare time 🤓 I’m grateful that Mercedes allow me to film in and around their showroom! 🙏🙏 Working on the next one already! 😜
Depends on what car you have, if you an internal combustion engine (petrol / diesel) it barely uses any fuel these days. However if it’s a plug-in hybrid or an electric car this does use a lot more power so I’d only say to turn it on when you need it then.

Hi Nick, great videos as usual. I have a question maybe you can help me. When I get out of my car and leave it on because someone is in as I will go out to buy something quick at a store. The car shuts off and turns off AC with people in the car. Is there a work around this?
Thank you! Unless you left the ignition on (which would only use the fan) or if you left the engine on then it would do that. Plug-in hybrids and Electric cars can operate climate control for approx 30-40 mins as they have an auxiliary heater

And to be honest couldn’t have said it better myself! 😅
Love your videos. Question : when I turn on climate control for heat for floor why does it come out of drivers side vent and passenger side vent?
Thank you! 🤗
I’ve noticed that, it’ll come out a tiny bit probably because of the way it’s configured behind the dashboard but most of it will come out where you say (like down to your feet)
You always close the vents up top by twisting them 🤓
Great content as always, thank you Nick :)
Have a great weekend!
And you! 🤓
Great video again nick, without your informative teachings it would take months if not years to understand it all Great work thanks for your time. Kingsley
Thanks Kingsley! 🤓👍🏼
If you don’t have the menu button you can just tap the temperature number on the mbux screen and it’ll display all the climate controls graphically too.
Great tip regarding the heated mirrors.
Thank you! 🤓
Hi Nick, another excellent video, thanks. I like the colour change on the vent when heating turned up/down. Can this be done on an A250e (21 model). Cheers
If it has Ambient Light, then it should do 🤓
Thank you Nick for the tips and tricks and all the videos ... the dealership simply cannot compete with the vast knowledge and support you have.
Thanks again Nick for the useful video👏some information I didn’t know exist on my Gls 400D😊
i think ive watched every video youve made thank you so much for such great videos
Thank you! Glad you’ve been enjoying the videos! 🤓🙏
Hi Nick. Thanks for the video. Is there a way to keep the air-recirculation ALWAYS ON please? as I need this due to heavy pollution issues. Most cars maintain their air-recirculation always ON but not Merc.
Hey Kenneth, no worries! 🤓
No sadly not, it’s not stated in the manual but I’d imagine it’s something to do with the carbon dioxide build up that we exhale. After a while it automatically reopens to allow fresh air in
Been patiently waiting for this… very helpful mate. Very well appreciated 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Really enjoy your tips ! A newbie in the MB!
Can't wait to drive it! All the way from oz
Thanks Sonny! Glad you’re loving the videos! 🤓👍🏼
You are upping the production quality i see :)
Trying to! Glad you noticed! 🙏
Always trying to improve over the last one
Thanks once more for an interesting and useful video Nick.
Hi Nick,
as usual great videos.
Cheers,
Tom
Oh yes there used to be a couple of models, S-Class, Marco Polo and G-Class with selected packages where you had this. Think it’s still on the Marco Polo but I haven’t seen one of those for a very long time
This is a great video you've put up for MB owners. Question - do we need to turn off the climate control system when before turning off or stopping the car? I have this habit of turning everything off (radio, AC, etc.) before pressing STOP. Is it still necessary in today's modern cars? Or do I just leave it running on AUTO and AC ON even after getting off the car?
Thank you! 🤓
Ah no as soon as you press the Start/Stop button & open the door, it’ll turn everything off 👍🏼
Another amazing video from you!! Keep doing that!
Great Content, very useful ✅
These videos are so helpful! Thanks Nick!!
Thank you! 🙏
Thanks Nick, going to test on my merc. Have you created a video on auto drive?
Auto Drive? Mercedes-Benz have a package called Driving Assistance Package which can assist with dual carriageway and motorway driving among and a few other things.
Is that the one you mean? I’ve covered it here: ruclips.net/video/LEqM2FqUIa8/видео.html
Nice one Nick! How about dashboard lights next?
Hey Loi d, got a few videos in the works at the moment but I think I’ve got that one for the list of potential future videos already 👀👍🏼
@@npoleary thats great. Ill keep a look out and 🔔 is on. I have been trying to find vids online for the 2021 a class dashboard but nothing...i know most are the similar but it would be good to see!
Such great content Nick. Thank you again!
When I get in the car after my partner has drove it, it astounds me at how she has decided to configure the climate control
Phew thought I was watching last of the Mohicans lol, who cut your hair Nick we can go round and sort them out for you 😂. Great vid as usual I know more every time I watch your videos 👍
Haha 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤓
Thanks for the tips bro.. Mercedes all the way
Thanks karanbeer! 😎
Crucial barnet, there, Nick!
Thanks so much Nick. Amazing video as well with great tips. Thanks mate 😀
Hey Ralph, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! What Mercedes model did you have and what year? 🤓
@@npoleary 2021 c300 cabriolet
AMG line
This is some kind of level control, but I can't find any detailed info on this.
all these options are standard mercedes, my w204 got these as well.... this week my w206 will be delivered, and it's gonna be exactly the same
Would you please include the 2019 and newer G Wagon in some of your videos. You have a wonderful channel!
Thanks William! Glad you enjoy the other videos!
I have covered the latest G63 here: ruclips.net/video/rkPa0yZan_g/видео.html
Haven’t managed to get my hands on the diesel version though, they are quite rare!
Brilliant again Nick, thank you.
Great tips Nick! Thank you for sharing!
No worries! Thank you!
The air inlet has a HEPA filter attached, and it will block out most all outside odors, including cows and opossums:
(Remember to close the roof!!!)
The sealed air cabin, has a "temporary switch" for outside air, keeping 0² levels in the normal range... (Since your vehicle is almost completely air tight from Mercedes-Benz).
Great video Nick very informative
Thank you! 🙏
Whoop whoop. Thanks Nick.
I hope M-B are compensating you well for these amazing videos Nick!! Just collected my new A250 Premium Plus 2 days ago and your videos are a life saver...thanks a lot!
Thank you AJ luvzlondo,
Ah no all of these videos are produced by me in my spare time 🤓
I’m grateful that Mercedes allow me to film in and around their showroom! 🙏🙏
Working on the next one already! 😜
Would you say it's worth keeping the A/C on throughout the year in the UK even if your car is not misting up at the time?
Depends on what car you have, if you an internal combustion engine (petrol / diesel) it barely uses any fuel these days.
However if it’s a plug-in hybrid or an electric car this does use a lot more power so I’d only say to turn it on when you need it then.
Hai man u inspired me to bye an MB. I bought GLC just a week ago
Oh awesome! What colour did you go for? 👀🤓
@@npoleary cavansite blue
Very nice! Such a good colour! At night, it’s almost black but then on a sunny day it’s blue 👌🏼
Hi Vishnu… I also have a GLC let me know if you find any hidden features 😁

Excellent! Still learning about my GLE 450. Can you explain the green symbols that pop up on the HUD?
Thank you! 🤓
Is that the picture of a car with green lines either side?
@@npoleary '22 GLE 450. Symbols appear and disappear on upper left side on HUD. Green circle with foot on accelerator, dotted green circle that moves clockwise tith MPH, dotted green circle moving clockwise with half circle, and the same with looks like a "t". Once the dotted line completes the circle the green symbol disappears.
Ah the green accelerator pedal is to indicate when to come off the pedal to drive economically based on the speed of travel to the car in front.
Not sure 100% about the others but I found this which may help: share.icloud.com/photos/08aPOLajwxKHPrZbspITh11Jg
Hope that helps a little!
If your A/C is on auto you can use the fan speed button to put a maximum speed for the fans atleast on the one he's using.
Good work . Like this one a lot
Thank you so helpful I was confused with how to do the heat! Lll
Again very good very informative
Outro grande video. Obrigado pela partilha.
@@npoleary I left the ignition and engine on. Went to buy snacks and left my wife and son in the car waiting. They then said everything shut off a couple Of minutes after. Is there a way of preventing that from happening?
Hey mvillacorta, not seen this happen before
Where abouts are you based? I’d imagine this varies round the world!
Godsend. Thank you Nick! 🔥
No worries! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
