In regards to the cruise control copying the speed signs on the road, does it work for the limiter as well? At the moment I need to adjust the limit to the signage on the road. Will it happen automatically if I press Res twice on limiter setting too.
Start DashCam was a great surprise for me :) And to share one tip from my side, that I discovered quite by accident... On EQE or probably on any model that has integrated cameras in the driver's panel, you don't need to press button to select which side mirror you are adjusting. All you need is to LOOK at the mirror and it is automatically selected for adjustment. As soon as your fingers are above the adjustment arrows, the led light will show the selection for the side that you are looking at! Quite amazing feature really! :) Cheers!
Hi Nick, I have a tip for you: if you have Mercedes Me on your iPhone, you can also search for a destination in Google Maps and the send it to your Mercedes. Just put in your destination (by speech if you like), tap the box with the arrow icon and choose Mercedes. It will now send you destination to your car. You can even do this from your Outlook agenda. If you put your appointments in there with the address in the location window, touching that address will open Google Maps and again you can send the destination to your Mercedes. A third possibility is through the Mercedes office app in the car, if you set that app up with your agenda, you can directly navigate from your agenda.
This is by far the most comprehensive tutorial of Mercedes tips and tricks ever made by anyone. Thanks Nick for this fantastic video, ending the year at a high bar! Good luck next year and looking forward to what you will bring.
@@npoleary yeah I watched it a couple of times already :). Awesome compilation of a lot of tips and tricks. Thanks for taking the effort to do this one. A couple more to add if you don’t mind… 1. “Mercedes Emotion Start” feature which starts the engine with higher revs to sound louder. 2. Little arrow to the side of fuel symbol tells you which side the fuel inlet is. You’d be surprised how many don’t know this. It’s applicable for any car though! 3. Geofencing multiple locations using Mercedes Me App. So you get notified when the car leaves or enters the saved geofenced areas. 4. Kudos - such great information, and so well presented. No over the top intro, intrusive music, shouting etc - just calm and easy to follow. It's a pleasure to own a Mercedes simply to have a reason to follow you!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one! It’s always tricky to decide, I was torn whether or not to put a backing audio track blended into each tip and trick but decided not to in the end. Awh thanks! 🙏
These video's Nick are a must for any new MB owners and recommend that they should watch and learn , I always tell mates to sit in the car with an Ipad and try them ,then if they don't get it first time rewind and start again. , cheers 👍
Compulsory viewing for all Merc owners and also dealership staff too 👌 My wife was suggesting we buy a RFID box to keep our keys in but it seemed from watching this video we don’t actually need to, which is a much appreciated saving. If there was one tip I’d like to learn it’d be how to turn off/on the flashing green charging light on my EQA so it doesn’t attract the attention of bad uns whilst plugged in overnight.
Nick, I thought I knew it all when it comes to Mercedes tips and tricks. Then you produce this brilliant video and tech me even more! Thank you Sir for keeping us updated!
Hi Nick, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your Mercedes videos. They are not only super informative, but also really fun to watch. Your passion for Mercedes always shines, and that's it so special. Please keep creating such great content! I also have a question ......I would like to buy a gasoline Mercedes C300 Break 258hp is this a reliable car ?? ? 🚗💨
Awh thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! Got loads more Mercedes videos planned! 🙏 Yeah I’ve checked out the C-Class a few times, awesome car! I defo wouldn’t say no!
Nick i absolutely LOVE your "Tips & Tricks" videos you post those are the reason why you get so many subs. I have bookmark this page . Wishing 2025 a million subs for you always.
28:40 This is exactly why I use in car Nav all the time and not using CarPlay. To have two screens which the instrument cluster screen has the close up turn by turn view so I don’t miss the turn, while the infotainment screen is in the overview mode that display the entire route between me and my destination so I can have full situational awareness miles ahead so I can assess traffic situation better. Of course you need to pay for the traffic and satellite map to make it perfect but it worth the money. The on board navigation is very useable and smart if you pay for traffic and it’s very well integrated into the cars system. Let alone if you have the expensive model has AR HUD you definitely need to do this way.
Ah most modern cars it’s automatic So if it detects any bright lights behind, it’ll auto tint. If it’s the older style, they’ll be a toggle underneath 🤓
Saw the heater mirror trick on one of your previous videos - one of the most useful tricks, particularly in the UK! Seemed to work in an Audi A3 too. The hold function is also great on Mercedes automatics, makes sitting in traffic less tiring.
Thanks Nick, for this super useful video these days. There were things you show in the video that I no longer remembered existed. I have an EQE amg and your videos always bring new things, as I am a big fan of yours and live in Switzerland. But I love your videos. 😊
Happy New Year Nick! All this amazing technology and Mercedes can't still solve the problem of the rear view camera cover opening and closing . And here comes the tech bit; cars ( like my A200) fitted with module Park213M and Park 223 and have rear view camera ( code 218) and camera 360 ( code 501) require the camera to calibrate itself so the camera cover opens and close continuously. To stop that happening Mercedes recommends driving at a speed of less than 35KM and steering angle less than 10 degrees for about one minute in 'daylight' . This allows the camera to calibrate and the 'open /close' of the cover lid stops. HOWEVER!! at night time that there is not enough light the camera cover opens and closes all the time , above 37KM closes below 37KM open. You can imagine how annoying this is 😫 Surely a software upgrade should be able to correct this malfunction. Sorry for the New Year rant . Keep up the excellent videos Nick!
Happy New Year! I’ve only experienced that a couple of times but it seems like the newer cars do this now. I’m not sure what safety system it’s calibrating for though.
Hey Nick, another brilliant video! The turn-on dash camera is my favourite trick & tips. I was waiting until I could get mine coded so that it starts up on ignition on. Keep up the good work for 2025.
@@DElionel1995 RJAutomotive is the company I've used before for my coding needs; the dash camera can be started with the ignition on. I'm sure some Mercedes models have this function already in place.
Fantastic video again Nick. Though I’m sad, you Should have used that footage of those idiots attempting to steal my car as proof of the key being switched off and being unhackable 😂. Hope you had a great Christmas anyway. And good luck for the new year 🎉
Thank you! I was actually going through my videos this year and I still have that footage. I wanted to make a video about car security but other things cropped up like my trip to Austria. This then pushed a few cars I had on test which I’ve already filmed and reviewed for Jan! 2 videos done for January already! And I’m working on the 3rd 😅 I still have it and I plan to still make that video! Hope you had a good Christmas!
@@npoleary I tried the flappy paddle tricks on my 520d and it does the same. I've had two BMW's with paddles in the last 8 years and didn't realise this ... just as I'm getting rid of it for a Merc! 🤦♂
Haha 🙏 I was sat on a few videos that I needed to upload 👌🏼 Reviewed a car last week, that’s going up in January. Reviewing another for the week tomorrow (another video for January) Then need to do the Christmas video. Then that’s it for the year! ☺️👊🏼
Hey Nick, great video! Can I ask how to get the colourful icons in MBUX? I have a new GLC with the newest system but I cannot seem to find the setting to change it.
It’s an even newer multimedia system There’s 3 versions / 3 generations MBUX NTG 6: Waves for Hey Mercedes Voice assistant, has wired CarPlay MBUX NTG 7: Sparkles for Hey Mercedes voice assistant, has wireless CarPlay MBUX NTG 7.5 (I believe it’s the name): Sparkles for Voice assistant but has extra features like Routines, new refreshed icons and on some models a store where you can a download apps. From what I’ve seen this is only on CLE and E-Class. It’s not a software update it’s new hardware too. One would say that those two things are only software but they are only on those cars from what I’ve seen.
Awesome tips and trix as always Nick, one question thou, i saw in your mercedes me app had a diffrent background than i have, do you know if i can change that background to the red one you have? or is that due to witch model you have? Thx again for the amazing vid, keep em coming boss man 😁👍
Thank you! Ah the backgrounds are randomly assigned per car. Some are red, some are blue but there are themes throughout the year with the seasons that change on their own. Would be good if you could manually change it though!
Absolutely phenomenal! Thank you! Is there a proximity sensor to lock and unlock the car as you walk to and walk away from the car… without taking the keys out
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🙏 No there isn’t on Mercedes. But some do have keyless entry where you can unlock and lock from the handle. But to clarify, you must lock it yourself when walking away. Hope that helps! 🤓
@@npolearythanks again. Interesting, I’ve had that feature on recent cars from Hondas to a BMW and definitely miss the Auto Unlock / lock on approach and walk away.
Hi Nick, I love ur videos ❤️ ty, I’ve just bought a 2023 C300, top spec premium plus……and I was proper overwhelmed with all the stuff on the dash, display and steering wheel to learn but……after watching ur great videos, I’ve learnt so, so much 😊 so thanks very much indeed and keep the videos coming 😊…..I do have a quick question tho….where on earth is the engine temperature gauge?? Or doesn’t it have one? lol cheers 🍻…..ps this video is fantastic 👍
Hi Nick, very nice video. Thanks. I tend to use Google maps to see a route and then send it to mercedes me which makes it show on the car navigation. I like those graphics more than android auto :).
Excellent video Nick. My boot regularly opens when keys in my pocket due to accidental pushing key fob button. Me and others I know regularly come out to car with boot open. Can’t be closed by pressing key fob button. Any suggestions to disable boot key fob button or how to avoid. Keep up great work. Paul
Thanks Paul! Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve heard of a few people doing this, I’ve done it myself before but I had a lot of things in my pocket so I kind of expect that. You can close it with the key, but you must be very close to it. So to confirm you can open from a distance but to close you must be very close. Hold it to close. (About a meter away) I remember reading somewhere that dealers can reprogram the key button to require two clicks. Not sure how accurate that is though so you’ll have to ask them.
Brilliant video as always Nick, I have a 73 plate e 200d AMG Night edition, now when it goes dark the drivers screen goes very dark is there away to change the brightness level?
Merci, merci merci 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Nick, thank you! It was perfect, just like all your videos. I have a quick service question: how can I change the rear license plate light on a 2021 GLA myself? Wishing you a Happy New Year in advance!🎉
Thank you! Sadly never done that before, I’ve had a look very quickly in the manual available online but it just states: “Due to their locations, have the bulbs for the turn signal light and reversing light changed at a qualified specialist workshop.” I assume this also means the licence / number plate too as I can’t see any reference to that. Only thing I can suggest is to do that exactly. It might be worth popping to a dealer on the off chance and you might be very lucky and find someone who can do it for you there and then. However it might be a little more complex hence why it says to contact someone who works at a dealer.
I have a 2020 GLC AMG LINE owned for 4 months I changed from a 2016 and I have just learnt why my mirrors don’t heat 🤷♂️ I’ve been annoyed that I can’t see my heating directions….i can now…last video was the HOLD function…..thank you Nick.
I've had a four M-Bs since 2006. The "tunnel" feature - auto-closing the windows and sunroof with the press of the recirc button - worked on my '03 C240, '05 C230 and '11 GLK350, but for some reason, it doesn't work on my '17 GLC300. 🤷 It is my understanding that the outside mirrors are automatically heated below a certain temperature. They can, however, be turned on manually, as you instructed. My mom's '19 E450 has the wiper replacement mode while my '17 GLC does not. With a bit of practice, when you turn off the car, press the wipe button, and just before the wipers reach full-upright, open the driver's door and they will rest there until you turn the ignition back on. This feature also works well in the winter to make scraping ice/frost from the windshield and clearing snow from the base of the windshield. Lastly, on some M-Bs, you need to remove a cap at the end of the driver's door handle to access the mechanical key cylinder. I don't know why, but with the cap removed, Keyless Go doesn't work for locking or unlocking the doors. I have inspected both the cap - which is simply a body-color-painted plastic piece snapped to a chrome-plated piece - and there doesn't appear to be any sort of sensor that recognizes that the cap is missing. Maybe with your connections you can gain some sort of insight as to why this happens?
Ah nice! Yes tunnel feature is on virtually every model out there, not sure why it wouldn’t be on the 2017 one though. I only started my channel in 2020 so not 100% clued up on models prior to that. Outside mirrors yes I believe this might be true too, not sure on the threshold though. For the wipers yes that’s the trick to do it if a car doesn’t work the other way. For the keyless thing, not heard of that before, as you said it’s just a colour painted piece so not sure why that would do that?
Tip: if you have keyless go, you don't have to press the door handle with your finger to lock it, you can just bump your butt against the door handle and it will work as well, as long as you don't wear too thick clothes like a winter coat. This way you can lock it with your hands full.
@@npoleary It's an excellent car, lot to learn but your videos help a lot. My only complaint is the map doesn't find all the charging stations and I don't know how to manually start the battery preheating?
Very nice Glad you enjoy them! So battery pre heating would work with the climate control, so when you pre heat the car in the morning, it’ll do the battery as well as it’s all connected. To pre heat while driving you’ll have to navigate to a charger on the MBUX multimedia system 🙏
Hi Nick . I been watching your channel for a while even before i have my Mercedes. Just a quick question, my car and apps sometimes show "battery is critical low, start engine". My car is quiet new and dealer say it may be sitting at the dealer for long and we just need to use a car more then the message will go. Is is normal? or if it happen again i need to bring the car back to dealer?
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! Well what they’ve said is correct, it depends though on how much you’ve driven it. To test it make sure you’re given it a good run with the engine on for at least an hour (preferably driving somewhere). The message should have cleared if it’s charged the battery back up. How far have you driven so far?
@npoleary Thank you so much for your response and advise. I have the car now around 1 month , yes the message clear up after start up the engine after it charged. I been click the key twice to lock , m not sure if that help to shut the car completely as i dont the message come up often anymore. The first 2 weeks it come up very often even though i have drive the car around 1hr. Hope it wont appear again after a month of driving. Thank you Nick
Great video Nick, as always 👍 I have a question regarding sending a location to my A35 from the app to MBUX. How do I remove that location, because every morning I start my car the location is still on MBUX ? Cheers and have a great New Year
Thank you! 🙏 It should just pop up with a notification asking if you want to start navigating. If you have accepted it, then it’s just as simple as cancelling the sat nav.
@npoleary it's present on my map all the time. Is there anyway to remove it ? I have deleted it in history , but keeps popping back up as a location on vehicle restart unfortunately
@npoleary it's on my map everytime I start the vehicle and put navigation on. It's brings bad memories of a crematorium i went too recently. Something I don't really wish to be reminded of. I have deleted it from the recent searches in the map in the app and also recent destinations in MBUX. Maybe it needs 24hrs or so not to re-appear. I will report back tomorrow
Nick, how can I disable the boot opening button on my remote key? I keep accidentally opening the boot from a distance just by sitting down with the key in my pocket. Thank you.
@istenfaz, sorry only just saw your comment! :( No sadly not, I’ve heard rumours that you can ask a dealer to modify the button so it requires two presses to do the same thing. Might be worth reaching out to them to ask.
Nick, much admire your extensive knowledge of MB cars, very impressive videos. However in addition to a relatively new A180 AMG line we also have a 2015 model C220 estate. It is still a very good reliable car but the satnav drives me nuts. I would very much like to know how to use Google maps or Waze on the main screen by communicating with my Andoid phone. Is this possible and if so how? Many thanks for any advice you can give.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! Yes tech has progressed a long way over the past 9 to 10 years! CarPlay and Android Auto came out on the C-Class in 2019 ish if I remember (maybe 2018) so it simply will not work without extensive modification. Check out a company called MBCoders to see if it’s possible. I haven’t used them myself however there are many on forums that I’m read and watch that they talk highly of. So check to see if they’re any good. Alternatively, you could do this: ruclips.net/video/RTAbKVLlszk/видео.htmlsi=13DCTcsWfobZu1-T I used CarPlay for this example but Android is also compatible.
Hi Nick, some great tips n tricks here, thanks for the video. I have a C220d AMG , 69 plate, when I get home I place the key in a faraday pouch to help prevent thieves scanning the house to copy the key. Do I not need to do this if the key turns off? many thanks, Daz, Leicester.
Hey Daz! Thank you! I do exactly the same at home for all cars. I have mine and my partner has one too but I just take as many steps as possible to ensure they’re safe. Technically no, but I don’t mind doing it as it takes seconds and just in case it’s an extra level of protection.
Hi Nick, in the newer MBUX cars, is there a way to reset the transmission adaptation memory of the car? I remember in the pre 2018 or so models there was a procedure for this. Thanks
I’ve heard of people doing this but have never known the exact process for it (and if it’s the same for each model etc) Also not sure why anyone would need to if it continues to adapt overtime. I guess it might be useful if there is problem if it still exists.
In regards to the cruise control copying the speed signs on the road, does it work for the limiter as well? At the moment I need to adjust the limit to the signage on the road. Will it happen automatically if I press Res twice on limiter setting too.
@@npoleary I tried this, but it's not an automatic change when the car realises the new speed limit. Need to keep double pressing resume every time it changes. Handy feature, but I wish it was automatic.
Oh I see for it to do it automatically you’d need the driving assistance package. I believe it’ll only auto sign recognition for the adaptive cruise though. Speed Limiter is still a manual press.
@@22MetalOnce you have double pressed the Res key to set the speed limiter to the current detected speed limit, then only a single press is needed to change it when a new speed limit is detected by the car
Nick, also if you leave your key in the centre console, where the key symbol is, when washing the vehicle the doors do not lock nor do the mirrors close in
You could do that, but if the car locked (for whatever reason) then you’d have to use the app to unlock it. It is very unlikely for it to do that, but I’d keep the keys on you and just turn the key off.
Hey Nick! Thanks for a great program😀 Please tell me how to change the charging destination in the Navigation on an EQC 400... Mercedes seems to have zero answers. If you don't want to charge according to the suggestions in the route planning, how do you do it?? If you then have to charge with an unheated battery... How is it possible that you can't fix it in the software for more than 4 years? Any idea?
Thank you! It’s been a very long time since I’ve been in an EQC so I can’t remember the exact menus etc but I’m sure there was an option to toggle off EQ route planning or something. But even if there isn’t, Tesla do exactly the same with their superchargers, can you not just ignore the charge stop and keep going if that’s your plan? I’m presuming you’re going to one you like or know of or something? Or did I misunderstand?
Nick is correct - just keep on driving past the suggested charging stop, and a new charging stop will be shown and the battery prepared for that charge. Alternatively, program a specific charging stop manually. (previous EQC owner)
My favourites are the drive-assist features, as they can sometimes avoid mishaps, we all make mistakes. (my prime example is when I returned from a funeral and almost ran a red traffic light, the car warned me so I braked within the legal position but a wee bit abruptly) I do have an additional tip on the "#8 Unlock only Driver's Door"; If in that mode (I call it anti-hijack) if you press the unlock button twice, it will open-up all the doors. I use "#7 Turn off the key" all the time as it also turns off the keyless entry on my mercedes, so key-relay hacking will then also not work anymore. (so I do not have to put my keys into the faraday cage etc) I'm also not (yet) used to the keyless entry so I often accidentally close all my doors when I open the back-seat door 😕 PS: I guess we are here not to discuss (or disclose) the hidden engineering menu's?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one! And thanks for sharing! I know of a dealer menu but have found little use of anything in there. Plus don’t want people deleting things they shouldn’t which would cause major problems!
@@npoleary Understood & agreed. For such things as engineering menus the various fora are the far better place with (extensive) explanations and fair warnings.
Hi Nick I have EQE350 hear in Canada & as you know the winters can be quite cold & this the first winter with this car so I have noticed that the heating system pretty much bad as I am getting maybe only 5% heat to almost no heat in colder days so I am wondering if this has been a issue ( with this model) & how do I fix it thank you
Ooo nice! Well when I reviewed one on my channel it was absolutely fine. Heating should work like any other car. Might be best to chat someone who works at Mercedes so they can check it out as that doesn’t sound quite right.
Is there a way to adjust the "sensitivity" of the auto headlight dimming feature? Our vehilce, 2025 GLA250, seems to be too sensitive- it will dim the high beams when passing a home security light that is 100 meters off the side of the road. Our 2020 GLC300 is not as sensitive. Thanks
Nick we travel in between the uk and France, and having just bought a French Mercedes EQE500 I am disappointed to find out that the me app doesn’t have the dash cam option! French laws don’t approve! If and when I get back to the uk can I download the dash cam option whilst in the uk?
Sadly Dashcams and recording vary massively from country to country. But be aware I’m fairly certain it’s for cars of where they’re initially built. Taking them into a different country won’t unlock features as far as I’m aware. Best thing to do is just install a 3rd party one if you don’t have the Mercedes one
@@npoleary In the past I've started in manually, but each time it defaults to standard recording rather than loop. However If I use a shortcut then it will start in loop recording.
Great vid! Too bad on the apple watch, the only actually usful feature (pre-heat car), is not available on the apple watch.... To unlock the car, I might just as quickly get my phone out...
Hi Nick, what happens in respect of the speed recognition software when you take a UK car to France on holiday? Does the system recognise the speed in kph and allow for this when flashing up the speed warnings? Is it possible to change the speedometer to Kph if you take a UK car to the continent? I appreciate that there is a small readout on the mph speedo that shows the speed in kph but it would be useful if this could be reversed for continental holidays.
Hi Nick, thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to follow through the menu as you suggest but when I get to ‘System’ there is no ‘Units’ option, just a space at the bottom of the list! I have a 2024 model C Class 200 AMG Line. Any suggestions?
Hi Nick, found at last! Although the System thread is Display & Display messages, and ‘units’ at the bottom which you need to scroll down to! That’s why I missed this initially. Thanks again.
My new, to me, A180 Executive has GB registration KM74 was purchased from a NI main dealer. I'm surmising that Mercedes register all their cars in the Northampton area.
Sadly changed my EQA for a Mercedes A35 Touring Edition in Spectral Blue, EQA was loosing way to much money even after owning for 11 months and offer on this car was not to be missed.
@@npoleary yes buying that car was your reviews fault but in truth was the depreciation that made me change, loved to have gone higher spec but would not use all the features.
Which Tip & Trick was your favourite? 🙏
The dashcam shortcut and the vehicle hold method. Should have realised these myself but I'm old😜👍

Start DashCam was a great surprise for me :)
And to share one tip from my side, that I discovered quite by accident... :)
Cheers!

If there was one tip I’d like to learn it’d be how to turn off/on the flashing green charging light on my EQA so it doesn’t attract the attention of bad uns whilst plugged in overnight.
Thank you! 🙏
I still do use a Faraday pouch just in case but yes technically speaking it should prevent that
That would be a good idea!
Nick, I thought I knew it all when it comes to Mercedes tips and tricks. Then you produce this brilliant video and tech me even more!

Got loads more Mercedes videos planned! 🙏
Yeah I’ve checked out the C-Class a few times, awesome car! I defo wouldn’t say no!

Thank You for sharing.
How about the rear view mirror, can you change the tint?
Ah most modern cars it’s automatic
So if it detects any bright lights behind, it’ll auto tint.
If it’s the older style, they’ll be a toggle underneath 🤓
@@npoleary
It’s a 2024 gla250
Yeah if it’s 2024, definitely. Well in the UK anyway. Mercedes have had an auto tint on the rear view mirror for years.
Saw the heater mirror trick on one of your previous videos - one of the most useful tricks, particularly in the UK! Seemed to work in an Audi A3 too. The hold function is also great on Mercedes automatics, makes sitting in traffic less tiring.
Brilliant guide Nick, just got the new GLC300e and this has helped me so much. Thanks for sharing

As usual, a really informative video, and sooo much easier than trying to read the manual. Have a great New Year.
Thank you! And you! 🤓🙏
You can imagine how annoying this is 😫
Surely a software upgrade should be able to correct this malfunction. Sorry for the New Year rant .
Keep up the excellent videos Nick!
Happy New Year! I’ve only experienced that a couple of times but it seems like the newer cars do this now. I’m not sure what safety system it’s calibrating for though.

Hey Nick, great video! Can I ask how to get the colourful icons in MBUX? I have a new GLC with the newest system but I cannot seem to find the setting to change it.
It’s an even newer multimedia system
There’s 3 versions / 3 generations
MBUX NTG 6: Waves for Hey Mercedes Voice assistant, has wired CarPlay
MBUX NTG 7: Sparkles for Hey Mercedes voice assistant, has wireless CarPlay
MBUX NTG 7.5 (I believe it’s the name): Sparkles for Voice assistant but has extra features like Routines, new refreshed icons and on some models a store where you can a download apps.
@@npoleary yeah i agree with that, maybe in a near future 👍
Great video, Nick. Thanks. How do you return to auto mode after dropping into low gear with the left paddle?

Ah cool you’ve seen it! 🤓🙏
Absolutely phenomenal! Thank you!
Is there a proximity sensor to lock and unlock the car as you walk to and walk away from the car… without taking the keys out
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🙏
No there isn’t on Mercedes.

(About a meter away)
I remember reading somewhere that dealers can reprogram the key button to require two clicks. Not sure how accurate that is though so you’ll have to ask them.
Brilliant video as always Nick, I have a 73 plate e 200d AMG Night edition, now when it goes dark the drivers screen goes very dark is there away to change the brightness level?

Hi Nick, thank you! It was perfect, just like all your videos. I have a quick service question: how can I change the rear license plate light on a 2021 GLA myself?
Wishing you a Happy New Year in advance!🎉
Thank you!
Sadly never done that before, I’ve had a look very quickly in the manual available online but it just states:
“Due to their locations, have the bulbs for the turn signal light and reversing light changed at a qualified specialist workshop.” I assume this also means the licence / number plate too as I can’t see any reference to that.
Only thing I can suggest is to do that exactly. It might be worth popping to a dealer on the off chance and you might be very lucky and find someone who can do it for you there and then. However it might be a little more complex hence why it says to contact someone who works at a dealer.
Happy New Year to you too!
Happy new Year Nick ... wish you a new year full of success and happiness :)
Happy New Year! 🥳
I have a 2020 GLC AMG LINE owned for 4 months I changed from a 2016 and I have just learnt why my mirrors don’t heat 🤷♂️
I’ve been annoyed that I can’t see my heating directions….i can now…last video was the HOLD function…..thank you Nick.
Thanks for watching! 🙏
I've had a four M-Bs since 2006. The "tunnel" feature - auto-closing the windows and sunroof with the press of the recirc button - worked on my '03 C240, '05 C230 and '11 GLK350, but for some reason, it doesn't work on my '17 GLC300. 🤷
It is my understanding that the outside mirrors are automatically heated below a certain temperature.
Haha yes…yes you can 😅
Skoda Octavia has this function in 2016 itself
Great video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏👍🏼
@ Let's not tell anyone but your videos was one of the reasons I bought EQE SUV.
Awesome! How are you finding it? 🤓
@@npoleary It's an excellent car, lot to learn but your videos help a lot. My only complaint is the map doesn't find all the charging stations and I don't know how to manually start the battery preheating?
Very nice
Glad you enjoy them!
Ah that’s good hopefully the message doesn’t come back 🤓
Great video Nick, as always 👍
I have a question regarding sending a location to my A35 from the app to MBUX.
How do I remove that location, because every morning I start my car the location is still on MBUX ?
Cheers and have a great New Year
Thank you! 🙏
It should just pop up with a notification asking if you want to start navigating. If you have accepted it, then it’s just as simple as cancelling the sat nav.
@npoleary it's present on my map all the time. Is there anyway to remove it ?
I have deleted it in history , but keeps popping back up as a location on vehicle restart unfortunately
Oh really I’ve not seen that before…not sure what to suggest with that one.
So you’re saying in pops up at the top every time you get in?
@npoleary it's on my map everytime I start the vehicle and put navigation on. It's brings bad memories of a crematorium i went too recently. Something I don't really wish to be reminded of.
I have deleted it from the recent searches in the map in the app and also recent destinations in MBUX.
Maybe it needs 24hrs or so not to re-appear.
I will report back tomorrow
Yeah that is very strange, it’s meant to be a one time thing
Recirculation hold button is a classic for us old sales peeps 🙂
Haha yeah that’s been around for ages! 😉
The wiper trick, was so annoying but once you know you know for when cleaning the car 👏
Nick, how can I disable the boot opening button on my remote key? I keep accidentally opening the boot from a distance just by sitting down with the key in my pocket. Thank you.
My main dealer suggested getting a key cover. Happens to me a lot.
@istenfaz, sorry only just saw your comment! :(
No sadly not, I’ve heard rumours that you can ask a dealer to modify the button so it requires two presses to do the same thing. Might be worth reaching out to them to ask.
@ Thank you.
Alternatively, you could do this: ruclips.net/video/RTAbKVLlszk/видео.htmlsi=13DCTcsWfobZu1-T
I used CarPlay for this example but Android is also compatible.
@npoleary thank you Nick, I'll give this a go
Hi Nick, some great tips n tricks here, thanks for the video.
Thanks
I’ve heard of people doing this but have never known the exact process for it (and if it’s the same for each model etc)
Also not sure why anyone would need to if it continues to adapt overtime. I guess it might be useful if there is problem if it still exists.
@ thank you again Nick for your insight
That’s alright! 🤓
In regards to the cruise control copying the speed signs on the road, does it work for the limiter as well?
At the moment I need to adjust the limit to the signage on the road. Will it happen automatically if I press Res twice on limiter setting too.
Yes it works for the limiter too 🤓
I use it all the time 👍🏼
@@npoleary I tried this, but it's not an automatic change when the car realises the new speed limit.
@@npoleary Ohhh i see, thank you for the clarification
Unfortunately the dashcam voice command doesn't work on 2021 versions of MBUX nor does the satellite navigation view unless zoomed out a long way.
Correct 👍🏼
It’s just MBUX NTG 7 (or generation 2 as it’s known as)
Nick, also if you leave your key in the centre console, where the key symbol is, when washing the vehicle the doors do not lock nor do the mirrors close in
You could do that, but if the car locked (for whatever reason) then you’d have to use the app to unlock it.
It is very unlikely for it to do that, but I’d keep the keys on you and just turn the key off.
Or keep your spare key handy!
True!
(my prime example is when I returned from a funeral and almost ran a red traffic light, the car warned me so I braked within the legal position but a wee bit abruptly)
I do have an additional tip on the "#8 Unlock only Driver's Door";
If in that mode (I call it anti-hijack) if you press the unlock button twice, it will open-up all the doors.
I use "#7 Turn off the key" all the time as it also turns off the keyless entry on my mercedes, so key-relay hacking will then also not work anymore. (so I do not have to put my keys into the faraday cage etc)
I'm also not (yet) used to the keyless entry so I often accidentally close all my doors when I open the back-seat door 😕
PS: I guess we are here not to discuss (or disclose) the hidden engineering menu's?
Thanks
No sadly not seen a setting to adjust that sort of thing, it’s all automatic. There is a manual option though if you need to override it.
@@npoleary Thank you.
Hi
Can you increase the indicator warning on a EQB thanks
No sadly not, they’re all just the same volume. I’ve certainly not seen any settings for it
Nick we travel in between the uk and France, and having just bought a French Mercedes EQE500 I am disappointed to find out that the me app doesn’t have the dash cam option!
There is one more tip some models allow you to move off without pressing the pedal and just need to press cruise control res
Very true! I think that’s just models with Adaptive Cruise 🤓
Hi Nick, When using the dashcam voice control can you ask it to use loop recording?
I believe the commands are just start & stop
But I would assume it just starts recording from your last preference?
@@npoleary In the past I've started in manually, but each time it defaults to standard recording rather than loop. However If I use a shortcut then it will start in loop recording.
Ah okay 👌🏼
Shame it’s not auto start 😢
Otherwise I’d use it in mine!
Hi Nick

Wow, Nick.
Haha
I was running out of time filming this one! I’ve never filmed so many tips and tricks in one day! 😅 and in one video!
Hi Nick. Since u like Apple iPhone, is it possible to get Siri to start car???!!! 2025 E450 AT. Any work around for USA.
No sadly not, can’t even do remote start on the Mercedes app. Although I’ve heard this is possible to remote start on the Mercedes app in the USA
Great vid!
Too bad on the apple watch, the only actually usful feature (pre-heat car), is not available on the apple watch.... To unlock the car, I might just as quickly get my phone out...
Thank you! 🙏
Oh that should still work, you can toggle the units inside the car to kph
That’s usually under
HOME, SETTINGS, SYSTEM, UNITS
Hi Nick, thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to follow through the menu as you suggest but when I get to ‘System’ there is no ‘Units’ option, just a space at the bottom of the list! I have a 2024 model C Class 200 AMG Line. Any suggestions?
Ah for that car it’ll be under
HOME
SETTINGS
SYSTEM
DISPLAYS & APPEARANCE
You should see it in there 🤓
Let me know how you get on
Hi Nick, found at last! Although the System thread is Display & Display messages, and ‘units’ at the bottom which you need to scroll down to! That’s why I missed this initially. Thanks again.
@michaelcole280 ah no worries, each car is slightly different. I haven’t been in a C-Class for while. It’s been ages! 😅
Ooo nice! Have you seen my A 35 review? I really liked that car! 👍🏼
@@npoleary yes buying that car was your reviews fault but in truth was the depreciation that made me change, loved to have gone higher spec but would not use all the features.
Oh whoops! 😅
But it is a cracking car though! 🤓
@@npoleary my dealer has my former EQA up for £34.k I was 2nd owner dont think that'll sell for that
