Just pop out that plastic cover, connect the cable on the dashcam to the rain sensor plug and push the new cover (that has the camera built in) in. The dashcam sets a recording to "do-not-overwrite" when a crash is detected (accelerometer). Downside: this one only records while the ignition is on, so if someone dings your car while parked at Tesco, you don't have that recorded. Some other cameras do. While the car is parked a snapshot is taken every minute or so except if the accelerometer detects an impact in which case it records and saves permanently. Some cameras also have a GPS logger which also uses the GPS time stamp. There are now also 360 degree 3rd party camera sets with 4 cameras.
Solid video but just a few comments on your gap insurance recommendation. It should be noted that if somebody puts a fair amount of money down on the car, gap insurance is not required because the "gap depreciation" has already been absorbed with the down payment. Normally if somebody trades in a vehicle with equity equivalent to a 10- 15% down payment or if they simply put that equivalent of money down, they should be in an okay position to pass on the gap. Something else to consider is most folks roll the gap insurance into the payment so they're financing the gap insurance for likely 60 to 72 months at the loan's interest rate. The last major car I purchased that needed gap, I passed on rolling it into the payment and found a cheaper price on the open market. Paid with a credit card offering 0% financing and knocked it out in 3 months for no finance charge. In the end I saved about $200 which paid for a new set of custom floor mats 👍
And a life alert is good for old people who get cold or fall down in the shower frequently. If ya can't remember where yeee left your car yeee shouldn't be fooken driving.
Unfortunately, I did not know or realize how horrible run-flat tires are until my wheel cracked.. Having never experienced this, you are spot on about getting rid of those tires ASAP because the cost AMG wheels is so much.
Agreed :( The whole point is that you can run them for some miles if you get a flat too but can you imagine going over a pot hole while driving with one of them flat? alloys would not stand a chance. I just avoid run flats as much as I can now.
It’s ok and we can’t know everything and that includes me also.they put a layer of wax and that is somehow as a shield.if you put the word detailing you should find all your answers
I have a 2020 C300 with the AMG and night package....great car. I have the run flats, and while not a fan in the beginning, the fact that I had two tire problems and was still able to drive the car makes them a must for me now. I get difference in performance and comfort, but I also get the safety issue by not changing a tire by the side of a road. All in all your videos are really informative. Next time I am going to watch your tips on my phone while sitting in my car so I can immediately put them to use.

Hi, trust you and the family are all well (your daughter is so cute - comfort or sporty driving). I don't own a Mercedes and probably never will; however just watched this video to ascertain what points you would highlight, and they were excellent for any vehicle (new or old) someone purchases. I myself am in the process of purchasing a 2016 Ford Mondeo Titanium, with remote keyless entry; and your tip for the "Faraday pouch" and the link you provided, resulted in me buying the twin pack immediately. I will be putting some of your other tips into practice on the Ford, thank you for this excellent video. You and the family stay safe and healthy.
9:13 use a nail paint for repairs (or a touch up paint) , Go to a store and find the matching blue color (pretty sure you will find it) I use Essie nail paint and I apply it with a small paint brush. Sometimes you can match it better with a nail paint than the original brand touch up. I sent my mom to find the matching color in store :)
Thanks! I if in honest I havent looked into repairing it yet but touch up paint may be a good option, interesting to hear about the nail paint too! Never thought of that.

When I got my new car I didn’t check the wheels and ended up driving around for like a month without one of the lug nuts on my front passenger wheel. Also over a year later and haven’t called the dealer to set up Mercedes Me lol

@@ABAUTOAMG hey Adam. I'm picking up the car in a couple of days and the Mercedes dealer is asking me if I want a ceramic paint protection. Do you think it's really worth it, based on your experience? And now on a 5 year old car? thanks and enjoy your Aston!
@ErwanYTube Hey Erwan, A ceramic coating is great but I’d avoid getting it done at a main dealer. I don’t want to knock main dealers but most simply don’t have the time to do it properly. You’re much better off getting it done by a professional detailer. They will take so much care and properly prep the car and the coating will be better and last much longer 👍
Also it’s never too late. If anything now is a good time as a good detailer they will polish out any light scratches (ones that are hard to see) and swirl marks before they apply it and the car will look amazing. Il probably be having the Aston Martin done soon 👍
@@ABAUTOAMG thanks so much for your reply! That's exactly the feedback I got online: worth it, but from a proper shop. Thanks and looking forward for your next video!
@@ABAUTOAMG Thanks & it is a great car just like yours, luv your colour. Maybe when things calm down we could meet up & you could teach me a few more tips & tricks. 👍
Nice. Very informative especially the Faraday pouch. It is also worth advising that if the spare key is kept at home, try and store so as to maximize the distance to the car.
Thank you very much for your detailed content. I’m getting a C43 and all your tips are really useful. Unfortunately they don’t have the Performance Exhaust option available on the C43 AMG in Japan. I hear you on getting rid of those run flats though, they also add to the road noise don’t they?!
Great video, I turned the acoustic lock off straight away on mine, I think the staff at MB have it on so it also helps them find the right car in the lot lol. You thought about tuning yours at all? I had my A45 remapped a couple of weeks ago and it pulls so much better now 👍
Ah good point! That must make life a bit easier for them to find the cars. I have thought about an engine modification but I keep backing out due to worries about voiding my warranty. It's a tricky one.
Thanks! I would say your at much less risk but theres no harm in playing it extra safe as the key still does have wireless functionality with the remote start etc.
I picked up my E 450 Coupe yesterday and have noticed the ‘grabbing issue’ when pulling on and off my drive way. Love the tip for getting rid of this by ditching the run flats, as it’s super annoying. But what do you do if you get a puncture without run flats as the car has no spare wheel? 🤷🏻♂️
Hi Matt, if your car is under warranty you should have free roadside assistance with Mercedes, theres even a button for this in some cars. Even if the car is out of warranty if it has been serviced by mercedes themselves every year you should have this service, it rolls on. I'm not 100% sure so I'd check with your dealer with your car. If I'm unlucky and get a flat il be calling them for a free tow or fix hopefully. To be honest I'd worry about cracking my alloys driving on a flat, even a runflat.
Bought a 2013 c300 sport a month ago. I ask if they could pick me up so I could test drive before I sign to buy (and not be stuck getting the car I drove there home), they arrived and car look gorgeous. I was slightly worried I would have issues adjusting to the 4matic (all wheel drive), but honestly, it just felt.. good. Hell it even smelled good haha. After 2 weeks of owning, it was time for Sadie to get a wash. That’s when I noticed a few things. The dealership does such a good washing/waxing it’s hard to see it until you wash, but the front driver-side bumper has slight damage to it (mainly underneath), like someone tried wheel parking a concrete parking block, the hood has these tiny paint chips and small... I don’t even know what they are honestly. Like acid misted very slightly and took the color away in tiny circles, rims have tiny knicks aswell 😭. I personally don’t care about others seeing this, because you can’t unless your like a foot away, but I know its there. And i think about it everytime I see the car now lmao. Gonna suck paying to fix all that... Since purchasing, put 2.3k miles on it, and over-all opinion: Buy one. 100%. No older than 2012. If you do buy older, buy pre 2004. 2006-2011 ALOT of issues. 2012-2014 they tried to make up for the previous reviews on prior C-class models. Lastly: BEFORE YOU BUY - Find a Mercedes Dealership and ask if they provide a “Pre-Purchase Inspection”. They will try to get you when you settle up, but it should be 75$. Period. And if you got time, use the bathroom. It’s one of the nicest bathrooms Iv ever been into. Yes. A bathroom. Snake skin black walls, marble sink and toilet bowls, since like a clear gloss gold marble.... I honestly felt bad using any of it. So I wiped the sink where water splashed a little 🤭 lol and I got my first oil change done there after the first week. Don’t do it (unless you really like the bathroom or have extra dough to blow). It was 256$.
Thanks for the tips! Sorry to hear you had some issues with yours. Haha at the bathroom, not sure my dealers is as fancy as that! Although there's free cake in the waiting room!
Great to hear Kay I hope it goes well. I'm always here in the comments if you have any questions. Lots more mercedes tips videos on my channel too! Enjoy your new car!
I think this is all great as are the other videos. I’m seriously in the market for a facelift 43 or 63. Prices have shot up during covid. I’m interested to know if any of these mods will impact your warranties? Such as the dash cams or ceramic coating. Really great content. So thank you 🙏
Hi Oliver, yeah prices in the used market seem to be all over the place at the moment. Warranty should be safe with dash cam if its properly fitted, ceramic coating absolutely safe too and will add value to the car. Thank you for your kind words too, glad you are enjoying the content!
Hey man - not having seen the video yet, i can tell you that dash cams or ceramic coating doesn’t void warranty. I’ve had them on all my more expensive cars, like the M2 and current C63s AMG. I’m selling my 2016 C63s now, and getting a 2016 A45 AMG. (I know, going from a V8 to 4pot.. but i’m not letting my wife drive the C63! :p) - i’m gonna get the A45 coated right away.
Hey Chery, Thanks! Great to hear you found it helpful. I hope you collection of your AMG goes well. Such great cars! Agreed with the GAP it's insanely expensive at the dealership.
I always take a video & lots of photos when I collect a brand new car. It once proved that a scratch in the cars paintwork was clearly there at the showroom but not noticed until a few days later.
Tip from me. Don't go home. I was not home for three minutes before my wife took the shine right off of my new W212 by ignoring me and telling me about all the fantastic Mercedes's her colleagues own. She made me feel like my heavily optioned E250CDI AMG wagon was a booger. I still drive the old snot ball that actually looks and runs like brand new (detailer had her for 12 hours yesterday). My 30 year guarantee is still intact. My garage gives me a little guarantee diploma for each annual. A certificate with a garage seal, watermark and embossed star like an Ivy League document. Its cute.
Thanks for these tips! Just picked up my GLC 300 last week and still learning all its beautiful features! Thanks for explaining about the GAP insurance thingy. Glad I have it ! More power on your videos and programs!🎉
first of all: i think it's a very good video but: NEVER reset your TCU. Because when resetting the TCU the Control Unit thinks that there is a factory new Transmission with new oil, new valves, etc. in the car. When you reset your TCU into that state you end up with a self-damaged and irrepairable gearbox and need to get a new one.
“ Reset your TCU and drive like a loony for 15min”😮😂😂😂 Im subscribing right now 😂😂😂

What dash cam is this in the video that you use? Really helpful video, thank you. Picked my C Class up earlier today 😁
@@michaelboden5089 Congrats on your new car! :) The one I'm using in the video is thinkware f800 pro
In the end I saved about $200 which paid for a new set of custom floor mats 👍
acoustic lock noise (11:30) is really useful for finding your car in a multi-story car park - unlock and lock and you hear the beeper!
And a life alert is good for old people who get cold or fall down in the shower frequently.
If ya can't remember where yeee left your car yeee shouldn't be fooken driving.
Just bought a c200 amg and i didn't know a thing you talk about now but thanks now i know. Very helpful tips
This video was so helpful to me. I just picked up my Mercedes-Benz B 250 4 Matic and I love how informative this video is.
Thank you so much 😊
Unfortunately, I did not know or realize how horrible run-flat tires are until my wheel cracked..
Insurance and detailing the car are one of the important things that anyone should do
Agreed! :)
Excuse my ignorance, but what is detailing?
I’ve just purchased a C200 Saloon, which should arrive next week from the dealership.
It’s ok and we can’t know everything and that includes me also.they put a layer of wax and that is somehow as a shield.if you put the word detailing you should find all your answers
@@panagiwtisleousis8991 thank you x
I hope that my answer helped you.greetings from Hellas
Perfect timing…… I just picked up my C300. This video is very helpful!!! Thanks a bunch! Be well!! 💫🚘💫
You are so welcome thanks for watching and enjoy your new C300 :)
You are the most informative presenter on RUclips , as a merc owner you have opened my eyes to some great things.thank you M.M
Thank you Michael!
Hi John, Thanks for your comment. Although I much prefer non run flats I can appreciate that they still have there benefits and it sounds like they have worked well for you :) I'm glad you are enjoying the videos thanks for watching!
once a tyre goes though Johnny, you'll be driving on the rim.
@@TheBlueskyson Yea, and any pot hole can cause serious damage because there's little absorption of the force to the tire. It kills the wheel!

I actually like the acoustic lock 😃
Love the new c43s,didnt have enough to buy one so went with a c220d 2020,still happy the New mercedes is amazing
Hey Stefan, Congrats on the new car! Even though it's not the C43 the C220d is still a great car. Very practical economy and still great performance. Enjoy your new ride and thanks for watching the videos :)
Your channel has such great content. Your presentations are honest, efficient and to the point. I guess RUclips algos arent dong the channel justice by pushing it more. Thank you so much for your kind comment Ashish. Comments like these make my day! :) I really enjoy making these videos and its been amazing to see the channel grow.
Wednesday i’m picking up a c180 from 2019 it will be my first car so now I’m watching all these benz videos because i can’t wait 😭
I’m currently looking at getting a “new” car. Unfortunately I can’t stretch to brand new but I’m looking at used and these tips are all really great and useful. Some I do already and have done since my first car but some of these I haven’t known about or done before. Really useful. Many thanks.
Thanks for the nice comment Christopher, glad you found the video helpful. Good luck in your hunt for a new car :)
Wife and I are picking up our new car this November. Can't wait to use your tips :)
Great video, collecting my C class coupe 220d on Monday, can’t wait. Great tips! You always forget to ask something when your collecting your new car so your video has really helped, cheers 👍

@@ABAUTOAMG I use dr colorchip. Same as you state, I wish I got paint protection. But the dr colorchip touch up kit is the best on the market.
Ya nailed it!
The last time a salesman tried to force me to take gap insurance I walked out of the dealership, next time I will make him swallow his desk first. Carbase bristol... avoid.
Loved watching this content, the advice relating to paintwork is a must for any low profile front grill vehicle, I valet cars hence why I agree with you strongly. One thing you missed out is where the bonnet release is for when you top up the windscreen washer bottle. I've liked and subscribed due to one of the best informative vids on RUclips
Thanks for that. I bought a 63 plate C220 coupe a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed watching.
Thanks and congrats Tony! Enjoy your new coupe, lovely car! :)
Great video and vibes brother!! Your little queen had me rolling with her response “ssssport pluss”.
Aha thank you, she is such a little gem. Perhaps she can join me for a drive with me video one day! :D

hahaha ......SPORT+ I cant wait for my little one to experience that, just about to go get me first Mercedes after 8 years of BMW.....I guess we all grow up and go for more and more comfort but your video is great to show some of the tips and import features of Mercedes brand in very clever and funny way. Definitely will check rest of your's videos and cant wait for those guys from Main Dealership to deal with my very strict control of car I'll pick up in few days 🤣🤣
Thank you, pick up a 2017 c350e sport estate next week and this has helped me considerably :)
No problem Darren, thanks for watching! I'm glad it's been helpful :)
I’m watching this for when I can actually afford one
Thank you so much for those very informative tips. I'm picking my car up next week so will set about adjusting and readjusting. You are spot on about run flats tyres. I can't stand them, they cost me an absolute fortune!
You are welcome! I hope the pick up goes well. I've just uploaded a new video with 35 Mercedes tips and tricks that you may find helpful once you have your car too! :)
This was so helpful. I switched to Mercedes from Audi and the changes are somewhat overwhelming.
Thanks Breanna, glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching :)
This is one such video where lot of effort and thought has been put. Commendable and appreciate it 👌👍
Thanks a ton, it was fun to film and put this one together :)
Thank you for these wonderful tips. They were so good I typed 13 of them to have when I pick up my new vehicle.
Thanks for all those useful tips. Much better than the manual, which never seems to have the bit you’re looking for and refers you on to some obscure e-manual 👍
You are welcome! Thanks for watching :)
I honestly did not expect this video to be this in depth and full of legitimately usefull videos. I expected mostly fluff and a cool car as B roll.
Thank you for the nice comment Bennett. I'm glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for tuning in :)
When I got my new car I didn’t check the wheels and ended up driving around for like a month without one of the lug nuts on my front passenger wheel. Also over a year later and haven’t called the dealer to set up Mercedes Me lol
Hey Adam! I've been following your channel for a while now, and I finally made the move to buy a beautiful 2019 C43 coupe. Very classy and what a sound! So going through your old videos again to make sure I make the most of the first few days :)
Hey Erwan! That is amazing to hear! A big congratulations from me the 2019 C43 is such a good car! Sounds like you are enjoying it so far! Wish you all the best :) I actually remember your name and profile photo from your previous comments on my vids, always nice to see long time viewers. Thanks for still watching and enjoy your C43!
Love your tips and tricks. Been watching before buying my Glc63s and still watching now. So yep still learning. Top man 👌👍
Thanks Gavin. The glc63s is amazing!

Thanks! And big congrats on your C43!
Nice. Very informative especially the Faraday pouch. It is also worth advising that if the spare key is kept at home, try and store so as to maximize the distance to the car.
Thanks John, great tip too!
I have a used E class 250 AMG coupe with run flats on the front and they’re spot on. Each to their own I suppose
Thank you very much for your detailed content. I’m getting a C43 and all your tips are really useful. Unfortunately they don’t have the Performance Exhaust option available on the C43 AMG in Japan. I hear you on getting rid of those run flats though, they also add to the road noise don’t they?!
yes Soni, hugely! I know, coz i had em. ty
Just picked up my c300 in hyacinth red with white leather , it’s a gorgeous beast! Loving your videos too!!
Soon an E class coupé will be in my garage ♡

Thanks. Picking up my Mercedes today.
Just picked up a brand new c43 coupe, getting it wrapped in satin PPF this week 🤟🏻!
Ah nice! Love a satin finish! What colour did you go for?
Very informative love your work can't wait until I get my E Model this month
Thanks Michael. Good luck with your E, hope it all goes well. The E class is an amazing car in all its forms :)
I’ve had my new to me Mercedes a month. Great to find this!
Thanks for watching! Enjoy your new car :)
Great video. Do I need to use a faraday pouch if I only have keyless go and not keyless entry.
Thanks! I would say your at much less risk but theres no harm in playing it extra safe as the key still does have wireless functionality with the remote start etc.
When I got my bmw, first thing I got was gap. With all these cool features, I'm liking benz too.
That tire info took me a long time to figure
Yes. Can you please explain more on why to ditch the run flat tires??
I don’t really understand what the benefit is??
Collecting my C200 Premium line on next week, I will apply these tips, thanks
Acoustic lock is good because you can open your boot and when you close the boot, it will make a sound and you know the car is completely locked
Although there's free cake in the waiting room!
how many miles did your c300 come with? im planning to get a 2013 c250

Great video, great tips. One thing to point out, Mercedes Me only works with 2019 and older models.

So glad this popped up on my recommended as am getting mine delivered tomorrow!
Picking my E Class up in an hour, thanks for the tips 👍

Aw Thank you Jake, she is the best! She loves driving in Daddies car so I'm sure she will make some more cameos!
Glad I found your video! Getting my AMG maybe next week! Oh and I get my GAP at the bank, so much cheaper than the dealership.
Its cute.
Thanks for the tips!! I receive my car in about a week! I will be rewatching this video.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching and congrats on your car! Hope it all goes well!

Very good tips, Tip 17...Check in the boot for the car jack and tool kit are there.
Thanks, great tip 17 too 👍
first of all: i think it's a very good video
but: NEVER reset your TCU. Because when resetting the TCU the Control Unit thinks that there is a factory new Transmission with new oil, new valves, etc. in the car. When you reset your TCU into that state you end up with a self-damaged and irrepairable gearbox and need to get a new one.
