Thought you should know: this video saved a Dutch family's holiday yesterday. On a camp site in France, their X7 alarm started going off. They had unlocked the car manually because their key fob wasn't working and now they couldn't stop the alarm. They asked if I had jump cables, because some dealer or mechanic they called said their battery might be flat. I said "Doesn't sound like it's flat!" and they said "Maybe it's the key fob battery?!" (we were all shouting to be heard). So I said "That reminds me of a video I saw on RUclips last week! Put the key fob next to the steering column and try starting it again!" Lo and behold, it worked, the alarm stopped and they were able to drive off to the next stage of their holiday. I can't overstate how grateful they were - they called me an angel! And I've only owned a BMW for 10 days, so I'm no expert, I'd just stumbled across your video last week. Weird how fate works sometimes. Anyways, I just thought I'd pass along some of those good deed vibes!
Richard, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out to me. It’s stories like these that makes the blood sweat and tears worth it. I’m glad to hear things worked out for the family and thank you for helping them as well, without you sharing the knowledge to them it wouldn’t be possible. Teamwork! I plan on continuing making these videos as I believe there is still a lot to learn about BMW’s. Even though the videos are about features, like you mentioned, it can make the difference of changing lives out there. Thank you once again for sharing this, it literally made my day, if not the year. Here if you ever have any questions, THANK YOU!
that really goes to show there are no accidents - at the exact moment when they would need useful but not common information like that you knew it and only bc you watched this video 1 week prior! plus you just got your first BMW - GOD work's in mysterious and amazing ways!! 🙏💯🙌
This is gold. Had waited twenty years to own my very first BMW. After a year of owning it, I’ll never go back to any other brand now. I’d discovered a fair amount of these tips and tricks already but some I had no idea about. Thank you 🙏. Have subscribed.
Wich car did you own before? My first car is a alfa romeo mito and im kinda in doubt of switching to toyota for its durability or volvo xc40 for ots safty. But the brands im kinda a fan of is bmw (since I was a child) so it rly comes down to either a bmw or a volvo (maybe alfa romeo)
@@rawand6344 I’ve gone from a Honda Accord, to a several Mitsubishi’s (utes and SUV) to a Hyundai Tucson, before getting my BMW X4 M40i. I’d highly recommend any BMW with a 40 on the end. That gives you the B58 engine which I believe is the best engine BMW have ever produced. One day, this engine will be iconic. It’s so over-engineered in standard form. Recently have had a swap for three weeks, of a friends BMW218i - a 1.5 turbo three cylinder. While it had no where near the power of my X4, it was fun to drive and surprisingly nippy around town. A beautiful quiet drive. I’m the same - loved BMW’s since I was a kid too. The tech and comfort of a BMW is amazing. Sure, there’s other brands that can probably match this, or in some people’s opinion, better it, but if you’ve always loved BMW’s and have never owned one, I’d strongly recommend it … to me, it’s become more than just a car.
@@rawand6344 I started with Vauxhall Astra (back in 1998), then honda civic, honda accord, Skoda Fabia, Chev Beat, Honda Civic, Toyota Aygo. And now BMW x5 and can say BMW its a totally different experience.
I work for BMW, and wanted to give a couple tips about the remote start. First, keep in mind that this is an option that is included in some packages, and is able to be purchased as a standalone feature when building some models. I do this as a common courtesy in any car that has a remote start, but not a lot of dealerships do. Before you can use remote start you have to activate it in the settings. To do this you will go to car>settings>climate control>preconditioning/ventilation and here you will activate the “starting for ventilation.” This is where BMW will give you a warning, that says something like a “state laws differ…” This is some thing that often goes overlooked in lots of cars, and I will sometimes see people who are coming in for service with 20,000 or more miles on the car with remote start never being activated.
Yess those are great points to make and I should’ve mentioned that. I’ll make another one about features bmw drivers forget about. Thanks for mentioning this!
@@BeamerView also beware for US spec cars in Germany, BMW Group/Germany will DISABLE this function during a service under the guise it is illegal to use this. However if it’s a feature on your car previously they should NOT disable it since you PAID for it. Conversely if your car is brand new and built here, they don’t or won’t enable it in the first place. Lastly, most and most annoying is that most cars even the top tiers (like the M3 Competition) until maybe last year were GOVERNED BELOW THEIR RATED TOP SPEED. And since BMW controls both of these things if you do it yourself while in warranty they will VOID IT IMMEDIATELY.
Just purchased my first BMW today a 540i M-sport and this car has so much tech in it I can't believe all the cool stuff this car does! This video is awesome thanks man!
You can switch to manual by single clicking the paddles, without touching the central shifter. It reverts to D after a few seconds if you don't switch gears again. Handy to downshift before corners. You can also manually return to D by long-pressing the right paddle. If in full manual, long pressing the right paddle will switch you to the 'best' gear to be in. Also, when in NAV mode with the voice off, you can get voice direction *once* if you like by single pressing the 'map' button. You can also voice navigate for example 'go home' and you can navigate to a specific menu page when saying something like 'trip computer'. there's plenty others.
On the ZF8 you can also manual return back to D by pulling in both gear paddles at the same time, can be quicker than holding the right lever if your hands are there anyway. Only when in auto mode though, not when in full manual.
Also, one thing I've used for years but I'm not sure people know about, is that you can *downshift* without pressing the paddles at all. If you are under 'cruising' speed (on my current 3.0d it's
WOW i had no idea you could even use the bmw nav without voice directions which is primarily why i don’t use it bc it’s annoying when listening to music but that’s a super cool and informative thing to know if you are using nav like that to just press map to hear voice guidance once.. i’m a big bmw enthusiast onto my 5th one now and i had no idea about that nav feature nor the windshield wiper feature he mentioned in the video - this is why i love this type of content!! Bravo 👏 🎉
Thanks for the tips. If you are using the voice activation feature, you don't need to press the button on the steering wheel. Just say "Hey BMW" and you can then give any of the voice commands. It takes this feature a few seconds after start-up to be activated.
To turn off the auto stop/start yes go into sport mode, but better still set up your individual sport mode with all options as comfort. That way you can still drive in regular comfort mode without the stop/start feature.
Very very helpful! My significant other just purchased a BMW for us, something neither of us have ever owned. I unashamedly admit that I took notes while watching so I could surprise him with my "knowledge"! Thank you for posting!
Great info, especially on the remote start. Here is a nice feature that gets overlooked. On the radio, there is a timeshift option. What this does is it pauses your live broadcast when you receive a phone call. When you finish your call the radio picks back up a the moment you call was received.
8:05 You can actually set both left and right mirrors to angle downwards using memory seat buttons, which store the mirror settings if you hold them down. find this useful when driving in a narrow path, parallel parking on the left side of the street, or just seeing if you're parked between the lines without the surround view camera, which usually switches off after a preset distance The forward and rewind buttons can be held down to fast forward or rewind in audio or video that is from USB or your phone, useful for audio books or movies. Gesture control 1 finger option is only useful for picking selected menu item when using voice, such as a call, a destination, etc. Bimmercode unlocks a lot of hidden features and I still need to find good tutorial to try all of them out, including: Changing lane keep, PDC/camera, blind spot activation speeds Displaying emails on idrive comm if android phone Activating brake force display and daylight rear running lights Using key fob to preventilate instead of app Etc
@bryanchen9706 I have bmw 2.18 grand tourer. Right Mirror Doesn't Tilt down. Can you please explain more how to use memory seat buttons. I am not sure if there memory seat buttons on my car.
@@kilickayaI know this is old so I'm sure you figured it out but in case anybody else is scrolling. If you mean it will not tilt down while you are in reverse, that is because you have to have your mirror adjust setting pointed toward the left driver side mirror. In other words you have to have the settings as if you were trying to adjust the driver side mirror. Hopefully that makes sense.
I sell BMWs and explain all of these features to my clients everyday - This was a great video! I also love activating “Drive Recorder” for them (basically like having a Dashcam) although you must have Parking assistance Pkg to have it and also like telling them about the “Automatic Window” function. Where you can set you car to automatically roll your window down in certain areas, I.e. Starbucks drive-thru or gate entrance where you have to punch a code in.
Thank you! Yes those are also great features to mention. I’ll have to make a part 2 of this video soon, there are so many things people would not know their BMW has.
One feature i learned that is pretty cool...you can go car settings and adjust the car unlock when u walk towards it and locks when u walk away from it as long as you have the key fob on you! So fancy!
Yess super useful. The new BMWs starting with the bmw iX is going to allow you to keep your phone in your pocket and do the same thing without pulling it out. It’s called digital key plus!
Here's one you missed: As you said, holding left paddle will put you in Sprint mode. But what you didn't mention is that you can immediately cancel sprint mode at anytime by: hold right paddle down, and while holding it down, click the left paddle once. Then let go of both paddles.
The coolest and most useful feature for me is switching from adaptive cruise control to "normal" cruise control by holding the minimum distance button for several seconds, this is great because this feature does not exist on many brands. I only use the "normal" cruise control on a daily basis, you just have to repeat the action after each start.
I just tried all of this on my e30 from 1982 and all of these worked👍🏼👍🏼😁😁 I got so excited when a digital cluster popped up with a checkered flag when I lashed the brake and throttle at the same time😁😁
When we traded in our 535xi for a 440xi I took the car back to the dealer because it was "defective" - it had a distinct shimmy in the steering wheel occassionally. The salesmen (ALL of them) just about fell over laughing. Stan told me that he thought I knew about the lane departure feature since I was trading in another BMW. I'm a mechanical engineer and BOY, was I embarrassed! I turned that "feature" OFF.
Haha I don’t blame you. It’s probably one of the worst features imo. I won’t lie they did fine tune it a lot and feels great in newer Idrive 8 vehicles
I second that I hate that feature too…I feel it’s very dangerous…all the other features are outstanding🙏🏻🙏🏻 however I wish there was a button I can press like my older 2016 3 series had this feature I just pressed a button once and forever my engine wouldn’t shut off at a light stop sign etc…they should bring that back👍🏻👍🏻
There is a sun roof reset as well, just hold the sun roof tilt button for 30 seconds, and the whole roof will cycle itself, useful when sometime the roof motor get stuck for some reason.
Very useful video. Well done! Love the chapter markers also. Thanks for the effort in making such a great video. I learned a few new tricks here that I did not know about my BMW!
Hey Rebecca, glad to hear this helped you, and congrats on your new BMW! Which one did you get? I’ve been planning to do a more in-depth tutorial on every car and maybe I could start with the model you have? :)
@BeamerView. It’s just a 2022 228i xDrive, nothing too fancy. It’s perfect for me now that our kids are grown and on their own…and yes, following you now. Thanks again.
I just got a "new to me" 2021 X3 M30i Sport. I have a question on the radio, it drives me nuts. Whenever I get back into my vehicle, I cannot just scroll through the stations (Sirius or regular radio) the selection is always on the right to "program this station" etc. I don't want to move the selector back to the playlist every time I start the car. Is there a way around this? And thank you so much for this video! A plethora of info I desperately needed!
@@BeamerView Hi! My driver profile connects, says my name, when I get in the vehicle. I just don't know how to change this setting. I've searched online... I haven't been able to find an answer.
Thanks. Was harder for me in my 2017. But worked. I kept losing power because the plug didn’t want to stay. Not enough room to use tape so I hope it stay with driving. But what about power. Does it turn off after car is locked??? Mine is still on for now.
In order to activate launch control I believe you have to do a few more steps (not sure about the Ms). 1. You need car in Sport Plus (I think that if you don't have SP+ you don't have Launch Control - you can carrect me if wrong) 2. You need Gearbox in Sport 3. Disable Traction Control 4. Left foot push brake hard. Right foot all the way to the floor. Miss any step and no launch control ! (At least for me).
One bit of clarification. Does the engine have to be running? I tried when engine is on and my car revs when I press the gas. But when it's in accessory mode, the traction doesn't engine.
You were so incredibly helpful. I’m on my 8th BMW lease, a 2022 x3m40i ( favorite one ever) and I didn’t know about 23 of these tips! Many thanks for such an informative lesson!
When a software update is done, it tends to disable remote engine start, not sure why that is but im sure the car prefers to do it that way to play it safe as in many countries or states, remote start is not legal.
I just got my brand new 220i Gran Coupe from the salon and even if I follow strictly the steps after shifting into reverse gear mode the mirror is not tilting. Is there any first time set up or anything which I have to do first?
@@BeamerView 100% sure I followed the steps. Nothing is happening. It is basically should be a line of coding so maybe with the Bimmercode it could be possible to unlock this feature?
Wow, this was very very informative! We just bought an X6 and had no clue that there were extra features like this. Appreciate your insight. I do have a question though... When I use sport mode, do I have to stop or be driving at a certain MPH?
Glad it helped you! Congrats on the X6, its an amazing vehicle that looks great. When switching modes, you can do it while you're driving, at any MPH. Completely safe to change while you're moving!
Good summary and very useful! When talking about privacy shade panel in the trunk, you should also mention there's a dedicated spot under to store it too.
I know the video is old now but if you have drive recorder you hold the video cam button (above the parking cam button) for a few seconds and it saves a video snippet. You can set which cameras are recording in Apps > drive recorder. You need the 360 cam. It’s great if you want to save something you see on the road.
Hi just took delivery of my new X5, love it and your 30+ tips is great. I use a bike rack a lot and I can’t reverse with it as it applies the braking system, I have press the safety button beside the hazard lights for turning off the sensors and it does turn the green circle off BUT I still have the brakes being active while reversing with the bike rack, any other things I need to turn off. Thanks again
Hey David. Apologies. Thought the rest of my comment went through. But yes as mentioned below if you go into the PDC settings there should be a way to disable emergency braking.
Very helpful! Just traded 2014 x5 (160k miles) for 2021 x5 (26k miles) which includes many of the tech features included in this vid. I subscribed and liked! Thanks!!
Just seen this great informative video. I have a question, and it’s really annoying. When I’m out driving, more often when I am local to my house. The sat nav comes on and tells me how to get home. And while I am local and know how to get there, I don’t want to go there just yet. How do I turn this off. Please please help
Very odd for it to come on all by itself, I would try rebooting the system. The way you do this is by holding down the vol button on the dashboard for about 30 secs with the engine running, and that should reboot the system and resolve the issue. If it's still doing it after, I would get it looked at.
We've been driving our 2017 bmw 3 series for about 4 months now. It's so fast in eco mode that we haven't tried sport mode yet. We use the gps, but other that that, we never touch the idrive.
@@BeamerView Our other car is an 2006 Honda Civic. I just had to do some errands in the old honda for the 1st time in months. What a contrast. It's a good car, but it can't compare to the 3 series. + the bmw will get better as we figure out all the features
@@HariOmRadhaKrishna @Shihan in Wisconsin True, Honda's are great reliabilitiy of course and great cars to keep for decades but just doesn't quite live up to the BMW Drives and daily commutes!
My mirrors do not fold automatically when I turn the ignition off or automatically open out when I start the ignition, I have to do it with the mirror button on the driver door, however the windows do open and close with the fob. They will not work with the key fob tricks you showed and also the car will not remote start with the 3 presses on key fob. Is this a setting I need to enable or a Bimmer module required? 2018 1 Series M140i.
The mirrors should open when you unlock the vehicle, they should also open once you drive past about 10 mph. Try also checking your door window settings and make sure the setting there is enabled.
Awesome tips. I just purchased a slightly used (13k miles) 2021 X5 M50i and love it. I came from a GMC Yukon Denali which is a huge difference and while the Yukon was a great truck, it doesn't compare to the X5. I've been searching out and watching as many of these videos as I can since all the options in the X5 can be a little intimidating for someone who just came from a 20 year old Yukon and I have figured out almost 50 percent of what I needed but am still learning a lot. The launch control is something I will definitely be trying out and my buddy will be along for the ride. I'll definitely be subscribing and looking forward to more videos.
Congrats on the X5 M50i, that this is a BEAST, and yes night and day compared to the Yukon. I'm sure you're going to love it more and more every day and won't be going back =) Launch control is available for it, I do have a video on the channel that shows the steps in order to engage it, it may take a couple tries to practice it, but when you do it, it's out of this world. Thanks for the Sub. Reach out if you ever have any questions!
I just got the 2023 bmw x6 m50i and it says one of the features I have is the M sport exhaust system with m sound control button. I can’t figure out / find where there is? Will this make the car sound louder?
I've never seen a physical button to control the M50i Versions, only on the M's. The only other thing I can think of is deep inside settings (I think general settings) there is a feature called "ENGINE SOUND" that you can say for example have a sport sound while you're in comfort. Many M50i's have this feature. If you want the maximum sound out of the exhaust, you would simply have to be in sport PLUS.
I have a 3 series 330D Xdrive 2021, and I think that among all these cool features, there are 2 incredible difects for a car so expensive and so well made: 1) You can't close the side mirrors while you're driving (you can do that only if you're under 20km/h), and it's very bothersome when you are in a narrow street and meet other cars coming on the other side. 2) You can't turn on or program your air conditioning to start some minutes before reaching the car (very useful in summer), a feature that other cheaper car manufacturers do instead. For the rest, a great car under all aspects!
I had the same one too before. I would say about half of these work one of the big ones to point out is if you want to lock the windows you can’t do it from the key fob but if your vehicle has comfort access, you can hold down the door handle lock button and it’ll do it that way
That was really helpful! I have a 22 M550, you’ve given me lots to play with! Thanks again, love the voice commands! Steering intervention can be painful!
Not sure if it's been mentioned but every auto i have ever driven has a button behind the gas peddle usually the limiter on manuals. So if you need to quickly change lanes, just hit the peddle down to the floor so you feel the click of the button and the car will auto drop a gear giving you instant torque to change lanes :) so no needpaddhold paddles down.
Hi, thanks for your informative video. I wonder if you can assist please? Just taken delivery of my M240i xDrive (UK). I'm delighted with my car but there's one annoying feature which is that the steering interaction which is part of the lane correction safety package always defaults to active after each journey rather than stay in the disabled state as configured in settings. I believe BMW made a policy decision to override any personal configuration of the safety features at the start of each journey which has been implemented of newer models. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue. Thanks
When you go into the safety menu (hit the button with the car with a green ring around it, located beside the hazard button.) Make sure it set to “Individual” after you go into configure and turn off “steering intervention” Also confirm your logged into your driver profile when you’re doing this so it saves to your profile. Hope this helps. Not sure how UK laws affect this but this is how it’s done in the US.
Thanks for your interest. I have configured "no steering intervention" in the "individual" setting using the button with the green ring around. However, the issue is that every time I start the car I have to press the button on the dash (green ring) and then either select "individual" or hold the button for 3 seconds to disable the "so called" safety features. I'm assuming BMW have configured it like this to ensure that owners make a conscious decision on each journey to disable the features. I suspect it's all down to litigation? There should be a way to override these features permanently?
Thanks for all your help Beamer...!! how did you learn all these things?? it helps me because i hate learning from manuals but if i here someone it sinks into my 67 year old brain....i think its the way we were brought up back in the sixties without computers or visual aids....but i dont know....thanks!!!

FYI, if you turn on remote start, it disables your aftermarket tune. (If you have one) I didn’t know why my X7 wasn’t roaring and burbling during startup and driving like a beast anymore lol. Then I turned off remote start again and I was back in business.
@@BeamerView Thanks for your info! Hey do you know to keep the screen mirroring connected to my Samsung in Smart View? When turning off the vehicle it doesn't stay connected like phone Bluetooth does.
I personally haven’t checked it yet, but I do believe that when auto hold is engaged. The brake lights should remain on as a safety feature letting the driver behind know that the vehicle stopped.
@@brendan6093 if your steering wheel has a “punch face” button (voice command”, you can press it and tell her the command, or simply say “hello BMW” to the hidden mic, then tell her the command. Once she brings up the engine sound screen you have to manually change it.
Loved the video thank you so much! I have a 2019 540i xdrive. I was wondering if there was a way to have the doors unlock when you put the car in park and the car is still running?
I know some of the newer vehicles are able to do it, but if there was a way it should be located in the settings. If you go into the settings menu where it says DOORS/ACCESS it should one of the check off boxes there if the vehicle has it. Another thing you could do is if you pull on the door handle twice it should just open without you having to hit unlock, just in case you didn't know. Hope this helps a bit!
Most of these are pretty basic. There are still many really truly hidden features that don’t get talked about a lot. Here’s one for ya: if you have an anti theft system, when you press LOCK on the remote to lock your door, your vehicle will lock and activate the interior motion sensor. You will see this by the flashing red light under your rearview mirror. Now, if you have a pet, or person sleeping in the vehicle, and you want to arm your vehicle, you can press the lock button a second time, confirmation will be a 2-3 second glowing of that red light, and thus your vehicle is locked and armed with motion deactivated. Now if the pet or the person moves inside the vehicle, it will not trigger the alarm to go off. If someone goes into your vehicle, then the alarm will sound. Bet many of y’all didn’t know that.
I like it , one thing I want to know is how do you synchronized the temperature when changing I always touch my side first and than the passenger side, how can I change it at once.
You would have to go into CLIMATE MENU, which is located along the climate control strip, in there you can check ON the Sync Feature, it helps to set this feature as one of the program buttons on the 1-8 buttons on the center stack so that you can say for example press 8 to SYNC the two temps.
You don't have to push park to put the gear shift lever back. You can just turn off the car. It will move it back and go into park and turn off the car. I wish it engaged the parking brake as well but it doesn't
I think this will work on all late model BMW's. When playing a mp4 video, the display cancels as soon as the vehicle is taken out of park. You can easily get the display back when stopped at (for example) a traffic light, by setting the parking brake. Then, just hit the gas to release the brake. Be careful not to blip the gas unintentionally.
A funny little anecdote that was recently told to me, here in Germany, by the BMW dealership manager (about those people who often don't know what's in their car). A German lady, after having had her own BMW for several years, changed the car for a new BMW. The lady said…. “But this time we also have to put the heated seats.” The manager said….”Dear lady, but in the car you have had so far, the heated seats were there.” And the lady replied…. “Really ?! I have never noticed it”. 😊
Exactly, it’s insane how many people don’t know about these features. I’ve also dealt with one lady who had her car for 3 years and never knew she had a heated steering wheel!
I have a 2017 750i. When did the remote start feature become available? I can open and close the windows from the remote but don't know that I have the RS start feature. It doesn't show up as an option in my app.
Thanks so much for this video. I just got a 745e and the amount of technology is a bit overwhelming. This video has helped to demystify things. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Gee, glad to hear that this video will help ya enjoy the BMW more along the way. Here if you have any questions ever, thanks for the sub!
Same here waited over 20 years to get a BMW. And its just a luxury you don't get anywhere else.
Thanks for mentioning this!
and only working since idrive 7
@@Tupeutla correct!
What dealer you at? Just curiosity from a former Bimmer tech.

Didn’t know about the map button feature nice one Michel!

Thanks for the tips. If you are using the voice activation feature, you don't need to press the button on the steering wheel. Just say "Hey BMW" and you can then give any of the voice commands. It takes this feature a few seconds after start-up to be activated.
Yup all these can be used with hey Bmw. For new owners you might have to enable the feature in car settings > general settings > personal assistant

8:05 You can actually set both left and right mirrors to angle downwards using memory seat buttons, which store the mirror settings if you hold them down. find this useful when driving in a narrow path, parallel parking on the left side of the street, or just seeing if you're parked between the lines without the surround view camera, which usually switches off after a preset distance
The forward and rewind buttons can be held down to fast forward or rewind in audio or video that is from USB or your phone, useful for audio books or movies.
Gesture control 1 finger option is only useful for picking selected menu item when using voice, such as a call, a destination, etc.
Bimmercode unlocks a lot of hidden features and I still need to find good tutorial to try all of them out, including:

I preset my drive recorder to “8” so if anything happens I will hit that and then record

As you said, holding left paddle will put you in Sprint mode.
But what you didn't mention is that you can immediately cancel sprint mode at anytime by: hold right paddle down, and while holding it down, click the left paddle once. Then let go of both paddles.
Sure good point, yes holding down the right paddle will drop it back in drive too.
The coolest and most useful feature for me is switching from adaptive cruise control to "normal" cruise control by holding the minimum distance button for several seconds, this is great because this feature does not exist on many brands. I only use the "normal" cruise control on a daily basis, you just have to repeat the action after each start.
Good point! Yes many don't know about that one but its quite useful.

When we traded in our 535xi for a 440xi I took the car back to the dealer because it was "defective" - it had a distinct shimmy in the steering wheel occassionally. Hey Dan, sorry I didn't understand the perspective of the question. Were you referring to hybrid vehicles, or vehicles being in remote start?
In order to activate launch control I believe you have to do a few more steps (not sure about the Ms).
1. You need car in Sport Plus (I think that if you don't have SP+ you don't have Launch Control - you can carrect me if wrong)
2. You need Gearbox in Sport
3. Disable Traction Control
4. Left foot push brake hard. Right foot all the way to the floor.
Miss any step and no launch control ! (At least for me).
Thanks for the clarification! I could be wrong too, but your steps are actually great settings to be in attempting it.
You do not need traction control all the way off. Just need to be in Sport Traction (one click like the video said)

Awesome tips. I just purchased a slightly used (13k miles) 2021 X5 M50i and love it. I came from a GMC Yukon Denali which is a huge difference and while the Yukon was a great truck, it doesn't compare to the X5.
I have a 3 series 330D Xdrive 2021, and I think that among all these cool features, there are 2 incredible difects for a car so expensive and so well made:
1) You can't close the side mirrors while you're driving (you can do that only if you're under 20km/h), and it's very bothersome when you are in a narrow street and meet other cars coming on the other side.
2) You can't turn on or program your air conditioning to start some minutes before reaching the car (very useful in summer), a feature that other cheaper car manufacturers do instead.
For the rest, a great car under all aspects!

Aka floor the car :)
Thanks
When you go into the safety menu (hit the button with the car with a green ring around it, located beside the hazard button.)
Make sure it set to “Individual” after you go into configure and turn off “steering intervention”
Also confirm your logged into your driver profile when you’re doing this so it saves to your profile.
Hope this helps. Not sure how UK laws affect this but this is how it’s done in the US.
@@BeamerView Thanks I'll give this a go
@@michaelcox4344 let me know how it goes!

It does seem like a UK regulation feature. Check out the forum above.
Thanks for all your help Beamer...!! how did you learn all these things?? it helps me because i hate learning from manuals but if i here someone it sinks into my 67 year old brain....i think its the way we were brought up back in the sixties without computers or visual aids....but i dont know....thanks!!!
No problem Bill! Im here to make your life easier! =)
I actually worked at a BMW Store in Massachusetts as a former Lead Genius for BMW's. Had worked with over hundreds of customers 1 on 1 to help them learn about their car.
I wanted to help more people around the world hence why I started this channel and happy to say I went full time with it, a youtube channel =)
Hit the red button subscribe, i'll be posting content every week for a very long time so Im sure it'll benefit you as well. =)
Have a great day!
FYI, if you turn on remote start, it disables your aftermarket tune. (If you have one)
I didn’t know why my X7 wasn’t roaring and burbling during startup and driving like a beast anymore lol. Then I turned off remote start again and I was back in business.
Great point!!!
@@BeamerView Thanks for your info! Hey do you know to keep the screen mirroring connected to my Samsung in Smart View? When turning off the vehicle it doesn't stay connected like phone Bluetooth does.
Remote start? From what years and what models? Just ordered my 2022 G21
All new 2022+ should have it. You can also purchase it from bmw assist.
@@BeamerView Nice thank you! This also works from outside the car?
@@thundergun100 for sure. Tap 3 times on the key fob or do it through the my bmw app.
Preparing to buy my first BMW. I'm super excited. Its golden that I found this video. Thank you much.🙏🏾🧡
You’re going to love it. Which one are you considering?
Remote start, does it came from the factory for every vehicule or its an option that you have to chose? I have a 2019 X3 M40i
Bmw did I introduce remote and start for the BMW X3 until late 2022. It is not possible to get remote start for a 2019 unfortunately!
AutoH is Auto Handbrake and is very useful in heavy traffic at night so you don’t have to blind the driver behind by holding your foot on the brake.
I personally haven’t checked it yet, but I do believe that when auto hold is engaged. The brake lights should remain on as a safety feature letting the driver behind know that the vehicle stopped.
Your brake light doesn't go off with AutoH
this made me love my bmw even more....thanks
Glad it helped!!
One clever trick to get a louder rev start up is to select Sport+ before you turn on the car
Didn't think of that one! Will include that in Part 3 of the series!
You can simply set the engine noise level by giving a voice command “engine sound”😊
Can you start the car and then select Sport + will this give the same noise?
@@randcchen5227 do you need phone plugged in to to use voice commands or how do you adjust the engine sound other than voice command?
2:50 that still works on my moms 2012 x1
Nice!
Do these work with a 2012 BMW x5 xdrive 35i
Most will not. Most are for 2019+
Winter wiper is clutch! I always wondered how to replace them or even clean the window without those getting in the way 😂
Hahah, I honestly found out about it 5 mins before I made this video!
@@BeamerView glad you did. Appreciate it man 🙏🏼
I ruined my hood paint replacing a wiper blade. Too bad I didn't know this.
@@M3NS hope it wasn’t too bad!
Have you covered how to use directions in the heads up display?
Haven't touched on that much, but if you wanted to, you would have to be using the BMW Navigation to see all the direction pop up on there.
Yup that’s a good one. Can’t believe I forgot about that one. Combine that and pre condition and your pets will love you.
Yup that is correct, this is especially useful for the new BMW shifters/levers.
Does it on my 09 X5 too
I think this will work on all late model BMW's. When playing a mp4 video, the display cancels as soon as the vehicle is taken out of park. You can easily get the display back when stopped at (for example) a traffic light, by setting the parking brake. Then, just hit the gas to release the brake. Be careful not to blip the gas unintentionally.
Didn't know about this trick, thanks mike!
Display will always be on if you code it with bimmercode.
Outstanding video Dee 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent information! I also appreciated the guide that tells me where in the video each feature viewable.
Glad it helped Steve! Subscribe!
I can’t get my backup alert to sound when I’m backing out of my blind driveway. Any suggestions?
Love the video! On #16 what button did you hold down for the idrive soft reset? My 535i has been having connectivity issues
It may not work on the 535i since it's a older vehicle. But, try press and holding the radio volume button for 30 secs.
As an American that dated ‘some’ German women since I got here …a while ago I can confirm too many of them can be clueless of their surroundings.
I have a 2017 750i. When did the remote start feature become available? I can open and close the windows from the remote but don't know that I have the RS start feature. It doesn't show up as an option in my app.
For the 7 series, it wasn't available until 2022.
I wish I had a dollar for every time he said, "guys"
Dude I know.
Haha one of my first live videos im learning from. Also a dollar for the word “TOO”
@@BeamerView I am still working on, not saying "um" so much, when presenting.
Does the front collision warning light still come on?
If you have the map in the centre instrument cluster?
Yes it does. The warning will overlay on top of the map.
I have the 750xidrive 2017
Good one!!
Hey, great video. It would help though if you advised which years of bmw and which models that this video would apply too.
Hey Calvin, thanks for reaching out. I would say half of them should pertain to 2013+ and the majority would be 2019 and up!
@@BeamerView Thank you man! Keep the videos coming!
I’m surprised how many people don’t read the manual…a lot of the features existed for years and also many of them apply for my Audi and Lexus as well.
Haha some don’t even know how to use the indicator ;)
Would like to know more on the Enhance exterior lighting feature? Thanks.
Havne't heard of that one, not sure if it's the case for North American BMWs
Infuriating that they can do all this but not make the seat-belt height adjustable.
Right!??
Exactly, I’ll be decapitated if I have a slight fender bender!
Yes you can adjust it, at least on my old 09 335i coupe, you could adjust it with the button you use to recline the seat, you have to hold it upwards
I don't want to move the whole seat, as that changes my view of the dash and outside.
You can on the x5 models
Thanks so much for this video. I just got a 745e and the amount of technology is a bit overwhelming. This video has helped to demystify things. Keep up the great work!
Great to hear!
