It it possible to get a cheap great tire shine, that's equal to Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel, for only $1? In this video I try three home concoctions that includes a can of coca cola, baby oil, regular table sugar and test them against Dollar Store bought furniture polish to see which is the best tire shine for a buck.
If you aren't into DIY, I recommend finding a dollar store and taking a peek at the automotive section: it usually contains either a liquid or foaming tire shine product-for $1!
1cup warm water/ 2 cups coconut oil/ half teaspoon dishsoap and lemon juice. Spray bottle/ shake well. Spray to dry areas and let sit until absorbed into rubber, plastic trim, leather interior and dash. Apply a second coat if desired for extra shine.
If I use 2 cups of my wife's organic coconut oil, I'll be paying more for the DIY stuff than the high-end professional tire shine. And she'll murder me!

Coke has many uses, like removing rust from steel and clearing clogged drains which I have done. Please don't drink it. Lol

Not bad except for the fact my wife was sucking on my tires the next morning. Embarrassing
I tried the 50-50 sugar water. I used 12 oz sugar, 12 oz water, and 2 oz ant killer. It doesn't work well (but the ants are smart enough to stay away). At first the sugar makes the tires look dark and wet, but then it later crystallizes and looks like a sugar glaze ('cuz it is). Unless you want tires that look like a honey-glazed chocolate doughnut, don't try this! Also, it's a mess working with sugar water. It's sticky and gets on the wheels. It makes a smeary mess. The spray gets on your hands, arms, and I think some even got in my eyes (which started to hurt because of the ant killer). I have hairy arms so the sticky spray was uncomfortable. At first I tried a spray bottles but both quickly got clogged. Then I used a bucket and an old shoe brush, like they use at Cobblestone Car Wash. So after I had to wash the bucket, the brush, etc. And had to take a shower. Later I will also have to re-wash my tires+wheels and re-apply real tire shine.
Anyway, I recommend just paying for the professional spray tire shine. I buy the expensive stuff for $10 and it only does around 12 tires, but it's not worth the hassle of using sugar.

I did the same at first it kinds works it made the tire little shine in the sun but after days it start to get brown like nasty muddy color and pulse after you spary the surgar water ants and bugs like flys comes on the tire

Did baby oil, waited 5 minutes until it dried, then did a 2nd coat and 3rd... and it shines beautiful

@@njw1383 I remember my dad back in the 60's use to mix black paint and mineral spirits to make a watery black tire stain and it worked well and looked good, he would clean the tires and use a paint brush to put paint stain on tires.

I use to use Johnson spray floor wax for my big black wall raised white letters after i cleaned and used a white marker on the raised lettering on my Chevelle SS back in 1971. You had to clean them well and then put on the floor wax for a high gloss like patent leather shoes.

Scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner! I was looking for ways to get the crud off my tires on my golf cart, sprayed it on and as soon as it hit the brown stuff started coming off. I wiped the dirt off sprayed it again to get more dirt off, and then sprayed it once more and let it sit... was going to wipe it off but was surprised when I seen the shine...

The Coke and the sugar water are almost the same thing...ergo the same results. Had a friend in the trucking business, he used brake lfuid every once in a while. Said it actually worked well to keep tires from cracking by melding the rubber together. I wouldn't use too much of it though. The sugar water and Coke ( actually any soda with a lot of sugar in it would probably work )

Quit being so damn cheap. If you are a car enthusiast and keep your car running and looking good then cough up the bucks and buy Meguiar's Tire Shine Gel. Get a 1 1/2 " cheap ass paint brush. Pour some of the gel into a container then brush it on your tire. You don't need to use the gel liberally. Let the tires dry for 30 minutes before driving. It lasts for weeks. Best tire shine money can buy...btw...I have a 2015 Chevy Sonic and it looks like it just came off the showroom floor!

DO NOT!!! buy wet tire shine spray!!!. The oil spray gets on the brake rotors and brake pads.
You are NOT!!! supposed to put oils on your brake rotors. It will ruin your rotors and brake pads. You will have to get 4 new brake rotors and new brake pads a few weeks after you spay oils on them and driving. Get ready to spend hundreds of dollars for new rotors and pads if you do it. Learn from my experience of failure.
If you want the wet tire look.. get the wet tire gel with a sponge and apply the gel with a sponge and only put the tire wet gel on the TIRES!!! Not the wheels or brake rotors.

A 5 dollars tire shine - almost any cheap Walmart kind -- can hold 1 year and more... if you don't use it every day . who needs to use it more than once in 3-4 weeks anyways??. Most tire shines last FOREVER with smart and economic use. McGuires "Endurance" for example...only a few drops of it are required for a single tire. No more than a few drops on a very clean tire.. Generally speaking, plastic, trims and rubber materials work on the same basis. You can use a cheapie like " STP's Son of a Gun" on ALL rubber and plastic and vynil parts of your vehicle. Tires included. It's quite stupid to spray sugar water on your tires when even REGULAR BLACK SHOE SHINE will work MUCH better. Rubbing your tires with tire shine is not needed on a daily or weekly basis. Once a month will do just fine. the tires keep staying black if you do that regularly. The big bottle of endurance tire gel can last you 3 to 4 years if you'll use it on 1 vehicle once in 3 or 4 weeks. Easily..

Honestly id rather stick to what is made for car tyres, these life hacks may look better but in the long run may damage the tyre stability by causing cracks or drying out the rubber!

Hey man, thanks for checking out my tire shine video and for your comment. Yeah, using that sugar water gave the best results but only lasted until the next time it rained. It stained the driveway too but that washed away easily as well. Sticky? Well, I really didn't feel it after it dried so I can't say. There was however a bunch of bees flying around the car for some reason. Don't really know what that was about! -Chris

PS: I'm going to try a little Coconut Oil and apply with a $1 Hog Hair Paint Brush, set 5 mins and buff with an old T-shirt. May Top with Pledge if needed.

In china you can get the real stuff for 1$. Furniture polish is 3 times more, coca cola is cheaper but you will then have all the dogs of the nerighborhood lick your wheels
