I applied this to my tires from the directions on the bottle, I got one month out of the shine, began dulling after 3 weeks. I have tried every product out there that claims from 6 months to a year. A month is the longest I ever got, and that is stretching it. Those are the facts!

They make a black trim version of this stuff which I am making a review for too. Honestly, I think they are both the same product but different labels and packing. Dont quote me on that. I dont know if you can see it too well in the video, but I used their plastic trim coating on the fender flares and it is pretty good as well! Only time will tell how long it lasts and that is the biggest seller for me.

Hal HansenI’ve been using this stuff for a year or longer. I saw it on this site. It’s not a wet shine, maybe because my tire isn’t molded smooth like that. But it keeps the tire extremely deep black with kind of a satin gloss. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I use it maybe 4x a year. I’ve tried quite a few products on the market and none were as simple and long lasting is this. Wear gloves. When I put it on the applicator, it can drip on your cement garage floor or driveway, I now pour it onto the applicator, overtop of the garbage can after the little squeeze nozzle clogged . Use a towel or rag to wipe off any accidently that you get on your wheel, immediately. It’ll come off 100% but if you leave there ...it’s very close to being permanent. I consider this the number one tire product in the World. And it doesn’t spin, sling off onto your car

    Chris:
A misconception that I hear/see in almost every video on cleaning tires. The brown coloration you see during cleaning isn't dirt, It's oxidized urethane and plasticizer or mold release compound. Removing it exposes the undamaged urethane directly to UV, so so kind of protectant like the TW product should be applied.
An less than good cleaning technique, that takes more effort, but doesnt do a good a job is using a sponge on tires. When you hear a wooshing noise as you rub down the sidewalls, they have a parallel striped grain, and you are rubbing across it. Rub with the grain to get down to the clean urethane at the bottom of those grooves. A stiff nylon brush does a better job than any sponge can.

I use purple power degreaser. the gal is about 5 bucks and I use it full strength. don't let it dry on there and don't get it on your skin it is strong. it does a good job getting the old dirty silicone dressing off the tire. you may need multiple passes if it has been on there a long time.

Using the Meguiars Endurance gel (got to this video a little late for the Turtle Wax). Works pretty well, daily driving my SS with some Goodrich tires...stays shiny for a month, but start noticing fade after a couple weeks. The deep wet look lasts for a good week. Overall, better option (slightly more work) than using spray on.

Best tire cleaner is (Awesome) from your local dollar store. It beats anything out there. As for the tire shine, the tire will look good for a little wile until all of the road grime and brake dust starts sticking to it. I quit using any type of tire shine years ago. Just a cleaner with Awesome makes them black just like when new. If you have white walls or white lettering then all of the brake dust will make them dirty in a hurry with a tire shine.

    • @davidhamilton506
      @davidhamilton506 9 лет назад +1

+vegasfordguy ......Back in the 70s, Dunlop put out a high gloss, wet look, brush on tyre paint. lasted for ages, then a few years later, they dropped that line. One point of note, is those early 60s white rubber rings to give your car the white wall look, were ticking time bombs for a tyre blowout. The tyres I had back then were conventional cross-plies and the Good Year add on white walls, had after a time, worn a ring in the sidewalls of the tyre, just at the top of where the white wall contacts the tyre and in fact I could notice the canvas reinforcing just beginning to show. The tyre dealer said the white wall sets up a slight fluttering motion, particularly at speed, that softly "hammer" the sidewall, abrading minute amounts of rubber over time to eventually cut straight through the wall, and blam. Years later when radials were the tyre of choice and cross-plies were relegated to 6 ply for Caravans/trailers etc., white walls disappeared for awhile, then they introduced them again, suitable for radials, but were tissue paper thin. They didn't wear the sidewalls at least , but after some time they feathered their tops with tiny cuts and just looked daggy....

It's a pain to get off my nails 😂 so js. 5 months is a long time for tire shine. Just take care of them. If chris only used 10% of the solution and it lasted 5 months... Guess what that bottle will last you a lil over 4 years 😆😂

I had a can of black magic foam tire shine, it had problem discharging the contents. I called customer service.
They gave me a new can, stuff 2orks good as tore precleaner. Also include tire wax, I still have the tube as many find it hard to believe, it was not even on store shelves yet. It worked great. Nice shine, didn't attract dust. When something works they get rid of it, to keep you buying more.

That brown that came of during the cleaning could possibly be the anti ozone/UV element in the rubber compound. As tires flex when driven, the anti UV material is designed to work it way to the surface and continually renew protective film. Cleaning or used of the wrong cleaners destroys this layer making the tire rubber more susceptible to UV/ozone damage. This is why relatively new tires that see little use fail with low miles, i.e. trailer and RV tires. I am curious what TW says about this. Some products like 303 state they renew or supplement the protective film. Would like for you to try the 303 and offer an opinion.

I used to work for a tire distributor, tires would brown after sitting in the shelf for long periods of time so yes it is part of the compound not from tire shine or "activated by the rotating motion" it is simply part of the chemical compound

A very THIN application of brake fluid will work wonders. Actually melds a little of the cracked rubber back together again. Truckers have been doing this for years. Repeat a very thin coat wiped on... No, more is not better... And it won't last a year. For idiots only.. do not apply on the tread. Geez, one would think you wouldn't have to say it.

I've been using tranny fluid for years to restore very old rubber and plastic on very old vehicles, cars, trucks, motorcycles... hoses, vacuum lines, weatherstrip, wire insulation and channeling, bushings, etc... works great to keep your weather stripping fresh. Cleans grease and grime. I've had some jobs where just about everything was petrified. I filled a spray bottle with the tranny fluid, sprayed 'em down completely, let them sit for a day. Wallah!
Once it's done it's job of making things flexible again, you can just wash it off your engine bay or motorcycle or whatever, then use whatever you normally use, Armorall and such. You must know how much some wiring harness's hoses and especially weather stripping costs new... what have you got to lose.
The tranny fluid has stuff in it to expand and freshen rubber seals and remove gunk or keep it from forming, so that's why it works so good. On very old stuff it'll buy you some time before you replace what needs to be replaced. I use the high mileage stuff myself. Plain ol' rubbing alcohol works great for expanding leather. Those fancy expensive shoe expanding "formulas" all smell suspiciously like rubbing alcohol. I've never tried it on leather seats. It does work on shoes, gloves, knife sheaths...
