- How To Restore Headlights or how to Polishing Headlights I'll present you in this video.
Through this process I chose to use only sand paper of different granulations and coke from a sprayer. It is very important to clean the lighthouse with coke as often as possible, especially when changing the sand papers. At the end I sprayed a special varnish for the headlights that cost about 8 USD or EURO.
The whole operation takes about 15 minutes, depending on how dirty the headlamp is.

Even though it's probably not necessary, the coke does have phosphoric acid which may aid in the process. But the sand paper is actually doing most of the work.

I threw my dull headlamps out from my 2002 Ford Ranger, and replaced cheaply with brand new ones from Amazon.

is working used cola? i just used water and sandpaper grit 800,1000,1500. final finishing just using clear spray. but dont spray to much, just 2layer is okay.

I mean if you're going to use the grit sandpaper you can use water you can use Sprite you can use Hi-C if you wanted to it has nothing to do with the coke....
Honestly just saved the trouble and the hassle and by bug spray spray it once simply wipe it off and you're done! 👍

I've been in autobody collision and certified PPG Platuim painter for 28+ yrs. Cokes has zero to do with the polish of the headlamps. If anything, that acidity will weaken the plastic. Either Mothers wheel polish with a proper 3" mini polisher, or just proper wetsanding and steped compounds, or wet sand and re clear coat them. Coke is made to drink, clean oil, and bugs off your windshield, not polish headlamps. I've polished over 250 head and tail lamps. I make $100 per front lamps,with $5 in materials. This isn't a hack, but just the incorrect way to perform the operation. Mothers, 3' buffing foam pad and a drill, if that all you can gather.
Can we clear coat the back of the lens inside?
@jalilpandi1347 your headlamps are sealed. I would say most likely not. If you break them apart then you'll have a condensation problem along with bad plastic lens. I've clear coated over 100 pairs of headlamps, when polishing itself won't fix the issue. I hope that helps.

@jalilpandi1347 then if that's the case, polishing the inside still won't clear up the outer plastic lens. It will have to be polished, clear coated or new lights. Once they start getting condensation in them there isn't much you can do to stop it. This is the order I always went in- 1. Polish, 2. Clear coat, 3. Buy new headlamps,or find a vehicle at a salvage yard or a "pick a part" place and see if the ones they have are worth buying. I've had to do that a time or two.
Asking experience Pro, after Mother polish to clear off damaged coating and follow with clear coat does eliminate need for wet sanding?

@@СергейИванов-и9з8чВітаю ,якщо під лак,то 800 останній, якщо під плівку,чи просто поліровка,то починаємо з 800 останній 3000. Якщо не буде крупної риски лак не ляже,лак з балончика німецький. На моєму авто ,ліва фара під лаком,права під плівкою. Спочатку під плівкою були обидві,спромігся переробити тільки одну,ще до війни. Це не складно. Будуть питання питайте.

Not sure why the Coca- Cola was used? It's ability to clean items relies on long contact with the item. When using wet and dry sand paper water is the most effective solution to use. All things considered you achieved a reasonable finish, especially when taking into account how randomly everything was carried out, but I don't think I'll be employing your techniques on my more discerning customers 🤭 And why do people use sandpaper not wearing any protective gloves. With them amount of headlights I work on, If I did my hands would end up as rough as the 800 grit! 😆

Everything I used cost me around 12-13$, and if I'm going to use the spray lacquer for more headlights, the cost would come down to 2-3$ per headlight. Much cheaper than a new headlight. Tks.
