Do you have any questions about the procedure? Definitely let me know!
I had abscess/ ingrown hair and I went to urgent care and I see PA and he couldn’t know what I have and told me I have a tumor inside my rectum when he check me with finger so I went to colon surgeon and also did finger and anoscope and told me can’t see or feel any thing who I should I believe colon surgeon is more knowledgeable , are cervix or uterus can be touch during rectal exam maybe that what PA feels but not thing show on anoscopy. Plz any idea?
If you have external hemorrhoids, can you explain it well enough to your doctor for him to decide on the course of treatment without having to go through the humiliating rectal exam? I truly don't think I would be able to tolerate the touching, poking and insertion of instruments in such an intimate area.
Is that possible it tears anus when checking for anal fissure?cuz I feel painful everytime doing this procedure
Very good video! Especially useful to have you provide scale to see the 'calibre' of the scope, which really just seems like stool calibre or less, so that should set everyone's mind at ease.
I have anxiety and panic disorder. I just had this done. The Colorectal Surgeon who performed it made it easy. The digital rectal exam was worse than the anoscope. It wasn't that bad. Don't be scared. I took Xanax before going into the appointment.
This was literally exactly what I did today. Panic->Xanax->Scope.
Excellent video! Do you mind letting me know what the model number for that anoscope is? Is it reusable?
I just adore you! Your voice is very.soothimg and best of all, I managed a Surgeons office and all you say is true. Thank you! Only wish you were cloned!
Can you explain what test or exam is necessary for a person who has Hemorrhoids; and fissure; can just a rectal exam be enough?
Hello Doc . Is there a way to control /treat piles when one is one blood thinners ? If you read this pls answer
Great presentation. So If I understand it, as you pull out the center plastic piece, the rectum start coming together at the end of the metal sheath and you can inspect the structure as you withdraw the scope and the rectum continues to come together into ints normal position.
Perfection! you got it!
I had this procedure done today by my family doctor. I've had 3 bloody bowel movements in the last 3 months. No other symptoms. The doctor found hemorrhoids, but wants me to do a colonoscopy. I'm extremely worried.
Sir i want buy this type proctoscope
In India this type proctoscope not found
Doct Chang You Are an Angel I long Admire Respect You. ❤❤❤❤❤.&.Thank You.
HELP DOC!! I have a fissure that’s VERY PAINFUL especially for hours after a BM. Now my proctologist wants to do this procedure tmrw on me WITH MY FISSURE! HELP! How will this work!!
Doctor is there any other way or procedure to see fissure and other rectal problems without inserting anything inside the rectum, like a scan etc..that wouldn't cause any pain but still shows everything that's going on inside the rectum. I would be truly thankful for your reply doctor. 🙏🙏
I also wonder
Very informative going for a visit soon good to know what to expect
I appreciate your feedback and I'm glad to hear it helped!
I now have to go for a anoscope test it seems the rectal cream did not work fully my Dr. Said are you willing to have another Dr. Look I wanted to say no I did say yes not looking forward to test
@@charlesblumenstock9160 how did it go ?
@@chevyss18 yes the visit was long and I cannot believe I had to get a anoscope exam

I wish that I could either be numbed or have sedation for this. Mine is scheduled for April 1st. I am so nervous. I am seeing a board certified doctor who is well thought of, but I’m still uneasy. Any ideas? Thank you.
I ALWAYS make the procedure as comfortable as possible. I take great care to make sure my patients are informed and aware. It's how I would want it done. I would have a discussion with your doctor about how it will be done. Make sure he/she knows you are extremely nervous and to take it very slowly!
do u need to put on a iv ?
Doctor what is the diffrence in procedures between this and the sigmoidoscopy.? Also my next question is, is it possabile to get any scan to check for inernal hemmoroids, i feel too worried being i have a fissue to get this procedures, i read too many stories about getting a retare.
both can cause a tear. the sigmoidoscopy looks deeper in your colon.
@@yourfriendlyproctologistyou mean when I get this done tomorrow it’s gonna make my Fissure worse!!?? NOOOOOOO PLEASEEEEE! Come on!!!

I wish I could fly to south California to see you. My gastroenterologist is useless. He has made me do all this tests but it does not solve the problem. The pain is still there. Am so frustrated
Thank you for sharing your story and you are not alone!! I hope my videos are of some help. I wish you the best.
Same with me, it is impossible to find decent help where I live. I feel for you, it is not fun.
Hello, can you answer how the numbing cream is applied?
I have a video on this under anal fissures.
Help! I am currently working in Eastern Europe and had a rectal exam for a small hemorrhoid. It was extremely painful, and he said I also had a crack in the anus. After the exam the hemorrhoid was bigger. He gave me a prescription and told me to come back in two weeks. Is it possible that he made the hemorrhoid worse?
Does the anoscope touch the internal hemorrhoids? Not sure how far it goes in but I just got an anoscope done and a day later my internal hemorrhoid has a dull ache.
Yes, the anoscope touches all the internal hemorrhoids. It's possible to irritate them, hence the need to be very gentle and careful when doing the procedure, in my opinion. It does sound like your hemorrhoids didn't appreciate the anoscopy, but they should calm down within a few days.
Is the skin inside the anus smooth?? I can feel what to me feels like a scar on the left side of the anus. Is that normal?? It’s itchy too
Very knowledgeable thank you 😀
I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
What procedures are performed for external hemorrhoids ? Do you have videos on it ?
i have hemorrhoid. the procedure u shud go through if u have external hemorrhoid is laser treatment
i found this procedure very traumatic and agonisingly painful. I stopped going

Thank you so much you are the best. I can't believe a doc is willing to do this for so many nervous for frightened people who probably avoid these things.
Could you tell me the following? 1 - This seems like it would aggravate a fissure, do you ever use this for fissure that can't be seen on outside? also there is no preparation for this correct?
2 - My GP suspect fissure but could not find it with internal examination (it is as the 12 ish position though) but he recommended scopes/proctoscopy etc. I don't know if you think this is a good idea for a fissure? I really don't want to distrub healing as the pain is more bearable these days although definitely not fully healed.
3 - if this was really painful (I know it shouldn't be but even finger was very painful for me) what might that signify and can topical pain relief ever be used before the insertion if it is too painful but you haven't seen what you need to?
Sorry for so many questions but I think beyond seeing everything you showed it would be useful info!! Thanks again and I have subscribed because every video is informative and you seem so nice I wish you were my bum doctor :) haha
Any procedure or scope in your anus now will make the fissure upset. A careful examination should be done to minimize trauma. However, realize that your doctor may be concerned about other conditions such as cancer which is why he/she is recommending a scope. I can't comment on that since I am unable to examine you. Best to you.
DISAPOINTING! The scope my CR Doc used was less than half this size...still had a light and compressed air to see 10 cm 360 degrees into area. It's also for a ONE time use. Your are needlessly making patients MORE nervous. The question is WHY! Something is very broke here. I strongly recommend DISCERNMENT.
Congratulations ! You survived your scope exam! It is one of the scariest medical examination. I got through it with Dr Chung! He is the most amazing and QUALIFIED surgeon who put his patients comfort as priority!
Unfortunately I do not agree with your comments above. Your statement is FALLACY. I wish you would have approached this DIFFERENTLY even there is smaller scope out there. I bet your CRS left the scope in your BEHIND. LOL TROLLS 😂
I can understand you are anxious about your hemorrhoids...all of us are! Healthcare in the world is very broken and I am fully aware of it. It's why this channel and my office was developed!
Every doctor will do things differently as there are pros and cons on many levels. You will be surprised to hear that all my patients are able to tolerate this exam with ease when this procedure is indicated. Why? Because I am very patient, I coach my patients, I invite my patients to give me feedback, and I listen.
As far as discernment goes, I wish I could tell you all the very scary and frightening things I have seen in my medical practice. There are many practitioners out there who lack empathy and knowledge. The people I've seen suffering at the hands of licensed practitioners! It's awful.
Your comment is well taken. I detect projection and expression which is OK because this is supposed to be a SAFE SPACE. Feel free to express yourself! I hear your frustration. However, perhaps you can understand and see that my purpose is to do exactly as you have referred in your comment.
Wish you the best.
@@yourfriendlyproctologist Respectfully I remain perplexed by your inaccurate depiction of an anal scope.. The one time use types are half the size plus there is no issue of proper sanitary cleaning. What patient would not choose the smaller, one time use type? For patients experiencing pain in the back end from a hem or fissure..size and cleanliness count.
@@Jojo-vg3ke I hope you didn't mind the bigger size instrument and that it is re-used.
@@georgesmith4446 I can certainly perceive your lack of confidence. That's ok! I'll tell you something though....MIRACLES do happen! Let me enlighten you with several points which I hope will help.
As far as sanitation is concerned, my instruments are sterilized in appropriate chemicals and techniques. The disposable plastic instruments are non-sterile. In surgery, 95% of instruments used are high quality metal alloys and are all re-used. In the end, both are safe and acceptable for patient use. With current procedures, contamination is a very rare event.
It's ok to disagree with me. It's ok to doubt me. However, my reviews will tell an unbiased truth: My patients are very happy with my care which includes anoscopy. I use my instruments because they are instrumental to my process of examining the problem and giving appropriate plans of care with high certainty of outcome. Every surgeon is different and I'm sure you want your surgeon to be confident managing your condition, all things considered.
I'm going to leave this discussion to rest. At a certain point, you will not be convinced and you will carry your doubts. And that's ok. I know that other surgeons in the world do not perform the anoscopy the way I do. Hence your biased view.
I wish you the best.
This procedure looks incredibly uncomfortable and humiliating. I hope my dr would never recommend this
admittedly it is. I don't believe it should always be done.
