I got Botox last week. I had my fissure for 6 years. Honestly, my pain stopped the moment I woke up from anesthesia. In understand they give you a hefty dose of local anesthetic after the procedure, but even after it waned off (by the end of the day), all I felt was a mild discomfort. I actually stopped taking Ibuprofen the next day because there was absolutely no need. It took me 6 days to get a bowel movement post-op and I was nervous when it happened, but to my amazement, I barely felt anything. I could've cried tears of joy after that first poop. Medicine is amazing.

Dr. Chung, your advice changed my life. I'm truly thankful for you!💖 I'm doing so well with my anal fissure that I usually forget I ever had it. And if I do get a flare up, I know just what to do. I still watch your new videos because I can always learn something new, and this one gave me a new perspective on the subject. I realized that I drink not enough water daily contributing to hard feces which leads to anal fissure. Before, I only poop for 2-3 times a week. Now, I am pooping daily with ease!

I had this problem for 7 months! I was so stressed out and scared about it being something serious. I went to so many docs and colonoscopy. • @mountaingoddess9720

Magnesium Oxide is not a good source of magnesium. Magnesium citrate is best to make your stools soft, but don’t overdo it as you’ll end up with loose stools. If you don’t need it for that, magnesium maleate, glycinate, chelate forms are better absorbed. Nifedipine is for angina, Raynard’s, and high blood pressure so not for hemorrhoids!

I started suffering from anal fissures about a year ago. Earlier before the onset, I was pooping what I have described as "fireplace logs". I take a generic of Miralax every morning. In recent weeks I have thought I was safe and relaxed my Miralax routine only to have them come right back the next day. I am thinking that it will be Miralax for life. I can probably live with that.

I have a anal fissure. It comes with bleeding and itching. So i tried to understand how to poop without bleeding all these years. These are the things that i follow.
    1) Make sure to poop everyday. Do not miss a day. So make it a routine
    2) if you miss pooping a day, it mostly could lead to hard stool when you poop the next day. Or you might feel the necessity to strain. Never strain while having a poop. That is going to make you bleed.
    3) if you miss pooping a day. Have lemon water. Just half a lemon in your water bottle is enough. Keep hydrating yourself. Next day you will poop for sure because lemon water helps with constipation.
    4) Do not skip having food. If you have less food a day. You will find it hard to poop. This will definitely lead to constipation and will be rough on your fissure. Have a good quantity of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
    5) Make sure to include a lot of fiber in your food that helps in softening your stool.
    6) Have plenty of water everyday and keep yourself hydrated.

I too didn’t want any surgeries, but as per several doctors I have visited, surgery is the only option for me to cure the fissure (no fistula). There is a chance that it may reoccur, but when several doctors tell you to get a surgery than to suffer for years, selling them sitz bath isn’t going to help.

Going gluten free and stopped drinking beer and excessive hard liquor is the first thing I did that actually helped now im on a mission to fix ot all the way, but slipped and learned the hard way recently. Good luck to you, it can definitely be dealt with without surgery, but once you feel like you are back to new don't go hard like you are 25 years younger. I have had persistent anal fissures due to tight anal sphincter. Even after bowel training and physio to relax the pelvic floor, i could feel the anal muscles feeling tight for no apparent reason. Then it would hurt while pooping and/or bleed for a period before stopping after days or weeks.
Then, quite by accident, I found that I could relax my anal muscles by putting my legs up on a high stool instead of a low stool. This means that I am almost in a squatting position while sitting on the toilet seat. In this position ,the anus muscles feel more relaxed and the poop doesn't stop suddenly as it did in the past.

Hi, I'm from Indonesia and I've been suffering from anal fissure for 4 months. The doctor here advised me to use OXOFERIN for my anus. I used it for 14 days, but on the 11th day, there was a blood stain when I poop. But it doesn't hurt in my anus. After poop, I feel uncomfortable in my anus.Does Oxoferin work and can it cure fissures? Or will it just Placebo and temporarily cure my fissure? The problem is that yesterday I felt uncomfortable in my anus after I poop.when I wiped it with a tissue, there was a faint pink orange blood stain. Is it dangerous or not? And my anus feels uncomfortable like when I have diarrhea and poop a lot. I already have skin tags.

  • @mikewalters3048

I have had an anal fissure(s?) for about six months. My biggest complaint is itching. It is not a "mosquito bite" level of itching. It is like _poison ivy X 5_ . And of course a person can't address the itch in public. What is even a bigger problem is, the itch is worse at night. I have found no ointment that comes close to solving the problem. I'm starting to believe that it might be a reoccurrence of a fungal infection. That would explain the intensity of the itch and the fact that anal creams do not stop it.

Hello again Dr. I was going to ask a few questions but you answered some in this video already. So I just want to ask a few more. One, how do these soaking baths help since the Fissure is on the inside and our butt holes are shut tight, lol. Secondly what diets are best to use while battling this fissure. Are certain foods better or worse than others? Is it true that fiber can be bad for fissures if taken too much? I was prescribed Benefiber of course and I try to eat oatmeal thinking I can keep my poops soft and finally speaking of that.. is it okay to take stool softeners and or laxatives like Dulcolax or Colace? Just trying ideas to get the poop out as soft and as quickly as possible, please help with these questions if you can.
Thank you again for being our favorite Internet Doctor ( wish you really were my Dr).😊

The truth: they freaking suck especially with anal spasms and hemorrhoids. Especially when you’re pregnant, constipated, can’t take anything, and pelvic floor therapy takes FOREVER to get into even paying out of pocket. The pain is unreal even with good textured stool. almost completely impairing. But seriously the Pranicura cream is a literal godsend, sitting in the shower/sitz baths really help soothe altho I try to just put my bum in that sitz salts bc not 100% positive theyre safe for pregnancy. Would love for you to share whether this is ok for pregnancy, Dr. Chang! Other than than relaxing the pelvic floor is the priority but hard to do, and kegels create more tension but can help get it all back in. Overall shitty experience lol (pun intended)

Could youuuu pleaseeeee do a video of why a fissure can still hurt? My fissure got open again.... now 5 weeks later.. I went to the doctor and he said.. everything is looking good?! I dont get it.... I said well I still have these rectal pain like the burning spasm feeling.. And he was like '' oh well maybe its still sensitive you can keep on using the cream'' But now I am like... its healed but..... whats going on? I also was like ''do I have hemroids...'' and he said '' well maybe inside but those won't hurt all is looking good'' but it still doest feel good. I dont know what to do... I dont have bleeding anymore but still this burning pain and spasm going on...
Months ago with the same pain he also did a rectal exam inside and he said nothing was going on just the fissure.
I saw more people on the internet with the same problem.... the doc telling them its healed even tho they still have this pain going on..... where the doc is just like '' oh yeah use the cream and some painkillers..'' but what do you do if the doc says its healed and sees nothing? Could there still be a wound somewhere which you cant see with the eye?

I passed glass like hard stools and they created anal fissures since 1 week . They are bleeding and paining. Last splash in the pan was today. This was after using glycerine suppository. But that dint relieve my constipation much... and rather hard broken pieces of stools passed which further aggravated the fissures along with blood in the pan. Now I have a hard fecal plug again.
Can i get an olive oil + glycerine enema to soften it? So that the stool gets soft and passes. Is it safe to use olive oil plus glycerine enema in the presence of bleeding fissures...?
