I would add 'Deliverance' (1972) to the camping/hiking list and 'The Platform' (Spain), 'Martyrs' (France) and 'RAW' (France) to the gore one!

So glad you talked about Cub, we have so little horror movies in Belgium and I was actually quite fond of Cub, still planning on adding to the horror filmography of belgium though :) hopefully in a few years!

@@spookyastronauts i wasn't a huge fan either tbh. Though i was very pleased with the argento reference. Being flemish it was quite special though, considering that it was literally the first flemisb horror movie that got released in cinemas in my life time. I hope there will be more, hopefully better ones.
I have never seen anyone talk about Santa Sangre before!!! I absolutely love it, I love beautiful dramatic movies with lots of colors.

omg thank you for mentioning Jodorowsky, people are usually weirded out right away and he's mostly attractive for stoners because of the trippy imagery and trippy logic of the movies but he's really worth watching. And yes, the actors in some of his earlier movies WERE taking acid together when preparing for the films and weed was practically like coffee under his direction.
I have to give you a BIG thank you. If it wasn’t for your opening of last years 31 days of horror I might never have found Santa Sangra. Which is now one of my favorite films. ❤️

Oh! The invisible man is on VOD now. Watched it last night. Wow! Anxiety inducing, creepy, some gore, and a statement to boot. So worth the watch.

Thanks for the recommendations, Emma. I've been making a point to tackle classic horror films with unforgettable titles like "The Beast With A Million Eyes (1955)", "Seven Deaths In The Cat's Eye (1973)", "Frankenstein's Castle Of Freaks (1974)" and "Monster From A Prehistoric Planet (1967)".
A couple great summer camp horror comedies, imo, are, Spirit Camp. That is about a group of young women going to cheerleading camp for the summer, and they end up getting picked off by an unknown killer. This movie had lots of cheesy humor in it, and, I loved it.
The other film is called Bloody Bloody Bible Camp. That is about a group of teens going to church camp for the summer, and end up getting picked off one by one, by a killer nun. This movie was loaded with cheesy one liners, and raunchy humor. It is a nice 80's throwback, as well. I always love those movies where the local store clerk warns travelers not to go to their destination, because they will never return 😁

I am so pleasantly surprised.. I’ve been watching so many horror reviews/breakdowns that feel repetitive because I’ve heard of all of them 100 times before.. Honeymoon is a great horror movie. The actors do a great job in portraying their love for each other. One of my favorites.

Another coming of age/teen werewolf-film is "In the company of wolves" by Neil Jordan. It's labeled as horror but to me more of a beautiful piece of art. Love it.

Spring is amazing! More people need to see it. Honeymoon, I watched alone at night and it got me pretty food, was very freaked out by it
I love this! Any ideas for home invasion flicks? I really enjoyed "Kidnapped" (2012ish), it felt so real and the suspense was off the charts.

Terrifier was really really good
George Romeros' "Diary of the Dead" was a good horror about people making a horror film. Some kids are filming a zombie film when the zombie apocalypse breaks out. "Dog Soldiers" was a fantastic werewolf film by the director of "The Descent".

Hey Emma I do love a lot the genre such as thrillers , horror , mystery , psychological thriller... kind of stuff. But people judge me as being negative all the time. Any ways people opinion doesn't matter . But love to see other people also have deep interest in all these genres. ❤❤ keep growing girl
Grabbers is criminally overlooked. I'm from rural Newfoundland, so the accent is pretty close to home, that aside, it is frickin hilarious. Watch it.

I'm sure "Spring" is the movie I had seen but forgot the title of. It was a pleasant surprise. Effectively moving.
'Blood Punch (2014) The first 2 mins are irresistible. Ingeniously entertaining horror comedy.

I need to check out Communion and it's all your all time favorite alien movie? Now i really have to see it! And i love Maximum Overdrive, Good 80s fun, Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a good bit of 80s cheese too
For romantic, I always recommend rewatching The Fly (1986). Such a great love story/horror. Not sure if it's on VOD, but I'm sure you can find it somewhere
I recommend watching, or rewatching, all the older Spooky Astronaut content.
I would say to start with any videos about Hereditary, as Emma has a real love for the film, and she has an excellent breakdown.
You should check out spellbinder with Kelly Preston,its the 80s version of Hereditary.

I own two copies of it. Bought it (back when it came out) and it ended up being Full Screen. That's pure evil. So, I found another copy, and it was Wide Screen (aka the RIGHT way). Oh I don't miss those days of Full Screen/Pan and Scan.

For a clown recomendastion, I think The Houses October Built is a good one. It's not strictly about clowns, but it has a lot of them.

The 70s movie Shock is currently on Amazon prime in the US. I enjoyed it. I'll call it supernatural horror.
For those who have seen it you already know about one effective shocking scene. I don't mean Gore, just a very good very simple effect.

I love “Clown” however, it’s premise is almost beat for beat the same as an earlier black horror anthology film called “Scary or Die” in which a father loses himself after putting on a cursed clown suit!
Both of them were taken from an Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode, where Carl wears the living clown suit, that takes him over.
The Ranger (kind of camping/hiking) is super fun! On Shudder here in the states.

Return of the Living Dead for all the 80s gruesome, gory, cheesy Horror.
Great video as always. I'm gonna add Spring on my watchlist cause I've been wanting to see it for a while. May I recommend Blood Rage(1987) and The Mutilator(1984) for some fun campy 80s horror,Return of The Living Dead 3 & The Ring 0(poor Sadako, can't catch a break) for the romantic horror pick ,The Hills Run Red for the "people making movies" pick and Twitch of the Death Nerve (aka Bay of Blood) and Final Terror for the camping horror pick.

Emma! Long time no see! I was with you almost from the start of your channel with recommendations like Changeling & Pontypool if you remember. Then life happened and I lost track of the channel for a while... but recently picked back up.
Although not a horror movie per se (although it would be if it happened to you!), have you seen "Searching" which is a fantastic thriller? Done in the computer screen style of Unfriended, but it is far superior. It is available on Starz and definitely worth a watch.
An oldie but a goodie in the horror/comedy/movie-within-a-movie genre is the brilliant "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon".

Fun choice. I recommend Return of the Living Dead, which Romero has no part of, and is cheesy, gruesome, funny, has all the 80s stereotypes and of course the beautiful Miss Quigley, dancing naked on an above ground stone tomb.
Have you ever thought that the Creature from the Black Lagoon is really a movie about the American's fear of the interracial marriage? It uses images similar to Lovecraft's Shadow over Innsmouth, which was specifically about that, and the image of the big dark creature carrying a frail white girl in his arms... The lagoon wasn't just dark but black for a reason!!

In the horror comedy category I suggest 2001 maniacs by Tom Sullivan, it's a remamake and a parody of a 1964 movie 2000 maniacs. It's hilarious, the characters, the kills the atmosphere are on point
Clownhouse is a good clown movie starring a young Sam Rockwell. Unfortunately that movie is mostly known for the terrible things that went on behind the scenes, but the movie itself is fun. Very excited for Terrifier 2. How will they possibly top the first one?!
Dead Snow 2 and Frankensteins Army were also pretty good flicks.

With regards to ‘Filming a horror movie in a horror movie’ I am not sure if it’s technically a horror, however, as soon as I heard that, my first thought was a film called Shadow of the Vampire. It stars Willam Dafoe and John Malkovich.

A good example of horror romance is Crimson Peak.
I loved "Grabbers". It doesn't get enough recognition for a gem of a movie it is, and Richard Coyle is a great actor.

Best alien movie nobody talks about? Bad Taste, Peter Jackson's first film. Well not his FIRST, but first that counts.
A great, imo, 80's cheese movie is called Doom Asylum. That is about a group of friends that go to an abandoned hospital to party, and end up getting picked off, one by one ,by a madman living in the basement. This movie stars a very young kristen Davis.
A great, imo, killer clown movie is called Clowntown. That is about a group of friends that end up in a seemingly deserted town, and end up getting stalked by a group of maniacs dressed as clowns.
Another great, imo, killer clown movie is called Clownado. That is about a group of killer clowns that are trapped in a tornado, after a witch curses them. Wherever the tornado goes, that where the clowns appear.

I know this is from months ago, but for the 80’s cheese section I definietly recommend the Slumber Party Massacre movies! self aware, funny, and just so bad it’s good lmfao. it’s the only horror movie trilogy to be written and directed only by women which is also super cool! the second one is my favorite bc the killer uses a guitar on a drill and that is just hilarious

It's a crime that Australia doesn't have Shudder. We are missing out on the good stuff. Netflix is hit or miss with horror and Stan is pretty decent.
