Whattup gangsters, the video description can't fit this information so it's placed here instead. Some mistakes pointed out in the comments: James Wan is Asian Australian (woops!). The image of Ridley Scott is of H.R. Giger.
Here's a list of every film shown in order of appearance - refreshed per decade. A Letterboxd List of every film referenced, talked about and shown is also in the description.

I am completely down for this channel to become a documentary channel. Stuff like Lemmino and Internet Historian always bring out interesting lengthy topics covering a wide range oh history and events in their own unique ways. Seeing Matt show off his pro editing and camera work as well scripted content really made this incredible to watch.

I'm not. I am a college professor. I need to know the expertise of the sources of information. Anyone can post to RUclips. The ability to produce a video does NOT make a person an expert. This stuff can be fun, but unless we know the expertise of the author, it is NOT authoritative. Social media is gossip. Joe Blow's opinion might be interesting. But it might be completely wrong.

@D O So do all documentary channels or even opinion piece documentary channels have to have expertise in the field in which they are writing and or filming about?

@@matthewwarner4119 Only if they want to be believed. We do not allow college students to use "documentaries" posted to RUclips as sources unless they can verify the expertise of the presenter. There is a difference between expert views and Joe Blow's opinion.

@D O wait. Was this projected as an authoritative source from an expert in the field? Or did someone in your class stupidly think this was an authoritative source? I don't think you watched the video because it does contain plenty of interviews from actual experts in filmography. Could some of the theory he discussed also be sourced sure, but this video was designed to be informative AND entertaining what portion of the video did you see as incorrect. And what do you know about his background?

People of different nations have "stereotypes" because they have a common culture. I'm of Mexican descent and if you were to look at my family pictures of the past based on your modern take, I'm assuming that would make you uncomfortable.
Were there African tribes running around in similar make-up: yes, watch old National Geographic docs.
Were there Chinese men cooks in traditional wardrobe with a heavy English accent: yes, watch documentaries of old SF.
Were there a problem with women in certain industries: yes, that still exists and still necessary.
Try to avoid putting your modern sensitive lens to view the past, it's not necessary to virtue signal.
I say all of this respectfully.

This was done so incredibly well! Horror can be a dense subject to dive into but you handled it so amazingly well. I love that for the most part, it's linear but you're not opposed to going on quick side missions for further context. I think it really helps with the overall narrative. Incredible stuff!

What a fantastic, sweeping doc on the history of horror in film. Well put together, well researched, insightful, interesting and it’s apparent that it was made with great love and respect for the horror genre. Also your speaking voice is very pleasant which, w/ a running time length such as this, is a must have or headaches often ensue. 😂 Yes you left out camp horror as a sub genre almost completely, but hey, nobody’s perfect, right? Really wanted 80/90’s camp classics such as Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Motel Hell, Death Becomes Her, and Deranged, which are films that pretty much birthed and/or revitalized the sub genre, to get some love thrown their way. Maybe make a second part? Plenty left to talk about in that pleasant voice of yours that is sure not to give one a headache. 😉Edit: AUDITION is in my top five greatest most favorite films of all time. Forget just in horror, but ALL TIME PERIOD, any genre, any year. It’s a masterpiece. Seen it hundreds of times. Have owned the deluxe two disc box set for like 18 years, and I still watch it to this day. It never gets old. Could talk about it, down to the lighting and the shot angle choices, all day. Truly a work of brilliance. Thank you for showing it so much appreciation.

@@MrCharlesWidmore Among many, many others, He made the 60’s camp-ish psychological thriller film Straightjacket with Joan Crawford right???? I LOVE THAT FILM. And I own it. Sadly, that film gets criminally ignored and chronically overlooked even when talking about Joan Crawford’s body of work. At most, it’s dismissed as “past her prime” 🙄. At worst, it gets totally ignored. When it’s actually a twisty, gloriously over the top, manic fever dream ride and I love it to death 🖤😂 Joan is fabulous as a woman smiling wildly through her “psychosis”, lighting matches on spinning records 🤣 Very cool you mentioned it’s director. 👍

This was AMAZING! Maybe you can help me figure out a movie I watched as a kid. It was from the late 60s or early 70s. It seemed like a trilogy. One short had a young couple who wrecked off a bridge and the girl would catch rides after her death but never make it to her home. The second one had a weird sound coming out of a well. The family dog fell into the well and the dad was lowered in to retrieve the dog. When he was lifted out, a picture fell off a wall. That made the wife immediately know something was wrong. Of course the dad was insane when he was lifted out. I’ve always wanted to watch it again, but can’t seem to find it. Hopefully you can help since you seem so well informed about horror movies👍

marked safe from wokism at 18 minute mark. When stories were told from lands where the society was comprised of mostly a homogeneous peoples, the story sells the idea of a Monkey God, is worshipped by local tech-less peoples. the people are reflected of the people of that period of time for that region. You can really make something seem more than what is going on. I am sure all the extras didn’t mind the work. If you try to sell a film that has people lacking melanin in their DNA makeup worshipping an oversized creature, it could only take place in a trailer park to be believable. it wouldn’t be,wouldnt sell and that is why you don’t see it in film. Seeing lead actresses of the time getting roles, has a lot to do with Hollywood politics and not some sort of ethos rewritten into the story 80 years later. Blazing Saddles, Rocky Horror is proof, people didn’t care in the late 70s about people being different. give the woke a rest.
