So weird and refreshing to hear someone actually praise found footage. It's my favorite genre but seems like 9 out of 10 horror fans bash it

There’s a found footage haunted house film called Hell House LLC. I haven’t heard anyone talking about it at all and I thought it was pretty damn fun and well made for the most part. If you haven’t seen it, I would definitely check it out. Loving your reviews.

My man, this was an EXCELLENT video. You just got another subscriber. It's funny when I talk to my friends about horror my favorite genre I tell them how much I love found footage and they look at me like I'm absolutely nuts. They think if you enjoy found-footage you cannot be a true horror fan. But the fact that them holding the camera makes you feel like you're part of the action I just love that
So happy right up lunopolis I remember watching a movie a while ago that had this crazy sci-fi element and I completely forgot about it until you brought it up again. I've seen everything on your list except for mr. Jones and the monster project I'll be checking those out tonight for sure.
Some of my favorites that didn't make the list:
HOST ( you mentioned the den and unfriended if you like that format of virtual meeting found footage this one for me now tops the list of all of them)
GONJIAM: INSANE ASYLUM ( basically Grave Encounters but done way more effectively. There's a particular scene in this movie that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat for what feels like forever waiting for something to happen. Starts off a bit slow but the last 45 minutes or so are Non-Stop intense)
THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN (love it with a mental illness explanation twist)
THE HOUSE OCTOBER BUILT( and if you like this one you're going to love...)
HELL HOUSE LLC ( it's a Trilogy the first one is the best by far but each of them have some pretty memorable imagery that will stick with you for a while especially number to you won't be going into any basements and turning the corner down the stairs anytime soon)
VHS 1 and 2 ( I'm also a huge fan of Anthology Series so when you combine found footage with it obviously a recipe for awesome)
TROLL HUNTER ( I wouldn't necessarily call this horror but if you haven't seen it it's definitely a lot of fun to watch)
CREEP 1 AND 2 (Mark Duplas is a genius in these character focused horror movies. PeachFuzz for life)
    Honorable mentions:
Final Prayer/Borderlands ( for me it's a little too much of a slow burn but the ending is a huge payoff for those who enjoy these kind of movies)
The Bay ( it's not scary in the traditional sense but I think anyone watching this will start to see a strange connection to what's going on in the world now)
Please if anyone has anything to add footage movie not normally talked about I would love if you would comment about it. I've seen a ton of them and am always happy for more suggestions

    • @sinistercinemareviews5420
      @sinistercinemareviews5420  3 года назад +2

Seen all of those. Remember, I made this years ago. So host wouldn’t be applicable at this time. Have you seen the devils doorway or The fear footage 2 yet? The acting in fear footage is terrible but everything else is rad. There’s a lot of great FF films

    • @jdarov
      @jdarov 3 года назад +1

@@sinistercinemareviews5420 i actually just watched Fear Footage 1 and 2 recently. It's sad when you read the reviews for it gets overwhelmingly negative remarks saying it's one of the worst movies ever made. I don't like it as much as I did the VHS series but I still found it fun to watch especially that last story in fear footage the overarching one they did such a good job on the creature effects I couldn't imagine being stuck in a house with things like that chasing me.
I haven't seen Devil's doorway. In fact I just finished playing Mr Jones and profoundly enjoyed it. So definitely going to watch this next your suggestions are fantastic
THE LOST FOOTAGE OF LEAH SULLIVAN is decent. Not everyone's cup of tea I imagine but I enjoy movies where the payoff is actually being a more believable found-footage premise than something Supernatural. I found the ending stuck with me for a while despite the poor decision making made in this film.
BANSHEE CHAPTER has some good jump scares in it and a surprising guest role from Ted Levine, who was also great in the Hills Have Eyes (2006 remake)
COLD GROUND. If you haven't seen this one i don't want to spoil anything it's best to go into this without knowing anything about it at all. But like the setting of The Thing when you're out isolated in the cold is one of my favorite horror elements that is depressingly rarely-used and this is the found footage that implements it pretty well.
LEAVING DC. This one's difficult for me. I would recommend it to anyone who likes found footage but I'm going to say that I personally wouldn't put it in my top list anywhere only because it's just lacking something. The main actor here does an excellent job selling it and feels more naturally real than any of the others.

I came across your video while searching for found footage movie suggestions and really enjoy your presentation. I consider myself a life long member of the horror community going all the way back to the early sixties. I personally think a lot of folks miss out on some terrific films because we live in an age where there’s too much over analyzing, trying to to find the strings zippers and just looking too hard for the faults. If one looks hard enough, faults could be found in any and everything, even the more well liked movies.
Sometimes folks need to just let go and enjoy the ride. That’s not to say that there aren’t some klunkers out there, but it’s a shame for one to miss out on some real gems. A good example to me is Hell House LLC. I loved that one so much that I ordered the director’s cut on DVD right after viewing part one and part two back to back. I would have missed out out on great flick if I believed the ratings on Amazon.
Keep up the good works. You just got a new subscriber.

Lunopolis and The Possession of Michael King are ones I've not seen yet. And there were a couple on the list i had to check i'd not seen before. I found one on Amazon Prime the other day called Descent Into Darkness: My European Nightmare; which I highly recommend. It's the stranger in a strange land trope with a fantastic pace and intensity. I also thought Heidi was a hugely enjoyable FF film based on a haunted doll. If you havent seen those then I recommend those.

      2. I remember watching this one, and I thought it was good, but there were a lot... a LOT of cameras, and many cuts to different shots in only a few moments in some scenes
      9. This one I thought was good, the idea was clever, and I actually thought it was interesting to see deeper meaning into a few of the protagonists in a few scenes... very nice
      10. This evolves from a typical film with annoying loud characters to... a typical film with annoying loud characters, and a TWIST THAT I NEVER SAW COMING. I loved how it went from a Bigfoot type monster to a literal underground lab experiment that the protagonists were unlucky enough to discover... VERY ASTONISHING... the only problem I have with this are the "glitches" that occur throughout the footage as it nears towards the end, kinda uncessary guys... still great movie

What I like about found footage is that anyone with a tiny budget can do it if they hit on a good idea and execute it well. I think the more advanced our TV screens get the less horror really scares me. Give me a grainy screen and odd sound effects to put me at unease over a crappy jump scare showing me a scary monster in HD any day.

Sinister Cinema Reviews aahhhh! omg you have to check some of these out. They are soooooo fun and some are super scary. My all time favorite is called Downstairs by the boxleitner brothers. It’s honestly pure satirical horror genius. And the other was a found footage film I found online called the Tunnel 2011 by the tunnel project. Once you watch one film, then you’ll find a hundred more just getting recommended to you and some of them are just incredible and really short. If you like gore, crypt TV also does short horror films. Under ten minutes usually. But yeah, I would love to see you make a video about some of the found footage/horror shorts. They definitely need more attention than they are getting.

I really enjoyed your analysis of these movies. I LOVE FFF and I sat there nodding the entire time you were doing this video! So, I just want to share my thoughts about these!
    You mentions at the end.
Unfriended: If someone doesn't like Unfriended, there's something wrong with them!! It is extremely well acted and I've seen it probably 50 times to look at each of the actors by themselves. I loved it and you are right, it's not a teen movie at all!
The Devils Pass: I guess my only issue with that movie is that it's probably the ending. I know we don't know what happened for real on Dyatlov Pass to those people, but the end of this movie is likely not even close. I enjoyed watched the way the presented the case of these people and they had their locations in the snow pretty accurately.
    The first reviews:
I watched Mr. Jones after watching your review video here, and I thought it was pretty good honestly. It does get weird at the end, but it was very loud and had a lot of very "Oh shit here he comes" moments. I think anyone who's at least a fan of FFF should see it, like it or not. (Yes, she was VERY easy to look at!!)
I had never seen Mockingbird until you mentioned it here because honestly, I don't care for clown horror movies. I'm not afraid of them, but I just think they are...all the same!. Well, as you know, that's not what it's about and I thought it was great! Good recommendation!
Lunopolis was GREAT! I'd seen it a year or so ago, but I watched it again before I wrote this and it was just as good as it was the first time. Everyone should see it. Creepy cult shit!
Lake Mungo: Ya, I rarely see a movie where I have to almost turn my head, but this was one of them. I wish I could just blurt it out but I don't want to give it away for anyone reading this that hasn't seen Lake Mungo. My word, what a totally creepy movie! Plus, all that other stuff they find out about her...wild!!!
I haven't seen Evidence and probably won't. Much like clown movies that seem to be the same time after time, I'm not all that interested in bigfoot. However if I breakdown and decide to invest 90 minutes in one, I'll take your recommendation and see it!

  • @nightmarefanatic1819
    @nightmarefanatic1819 5 лет назад +4

THANK YOU for your part at the beginning about how found footage doesn't make a movie bad. I didn't know anyone else had this opinion.
Digging up the Marrow is good, it's a meta film about director Adam Green being contacted by a possibly crazy man who claims there is a secret world of monsters who live underground. It has a lot of celebrities playing themselves in addition to Green, like John Carpenter and Kane Hodder.
I don't know how well known it is but Ghostwatch is fantastic, it came out years before Blair Witch Project decided to do the "This actually happened" thing, and I have yet to see another found footage movie filmed like it. It isn't presented as a documentary, or as some people messing around with a camera, it's set up like a TV special with a studio with hosts who interview experts and take calls from viewers, and a crew that is filming live at a house with poltergeist activity. It actually caused a panic in the UK similar to the American War of the Worlds radio broadcast which even brought accusations that the movie had made a boy kill himself in fear. It's definitely worth watching.
I hear a lot about The Houses October Built, but not Hell House LLC, which is about a crew preparing what is supposedly a real haunted building into a Halloween attraction, with predictable yet still scary results.

The Followers (2017) is a lesser known found footage, but for reason. It’s not that good even though the premise seems interesting: A social media couple's camping trip is ruined by filmmakers making a documentary on how easy it is to track someone down off social media and kill them.

I grew up on horror movies, Jaws-still makes people scared to go into the water to this very day & that was "79", when I come across it, I can't help but to watch it, Poltergiest, which got a "slap to the head, drink splashed into the face, & a stomp out of the room; a total disrespect from that horrible remake! And Aliens, when you heard the line" maybe they don't show up on infra red at all..." 3 of my all- time favorites which made me fall in love with the genre(along with other movies of course)!

OK, my reply totally disappeared and I am angry. I had a lot of good stuff! So, let's try this again. Area 51...I thought it was pretty good. Looked like it had a decent production value at least. Hell House LOVED, it was just creepy in all kinds of ways and felt real to me. Maybe it was the clowns. The Bay....LOVED it. Not sure why but I just did. If you haven't seen Ratter, see it. It is worth it in my opinion. Also, one that doesn't get a lot of praise is Paranormal Entity...I loved it! Extraterrestrial...Just all around good. It gives you that inside glimpse of what it might be like...the ending is a shame. Jerusalem...great!!! The Video Diary of Maddie O...STRANGE as well as In Memorium. Slow at first but builds up to a not so good ending. Not my favorite. I will always love Europa Report. Just do. For the life of me, there was an FF movie that I can't remember the name of...the girls late teens early 20s in the end, end up being cats or something. Cool angle. Wish I could remember the title!!!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU YOU WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! We all know Cloverfield and the popular ones. I LOVED The Remaining. I absolutely loved it!!!! Of course, The Den was great, no doubt. Hide the Monster...I now hate monkeys. Megan is Missing #sad, Classroom 6 was good, Skinwalker Ranch was just YIKES and Archivo 253 EEEEEKKKKK, Sickhouse was just weird... the girl had issues, The Break-In was pretty wicked, and what do you all think of the Bad Ben Trilogy. Shitty acting but good lord did/does it has a fan base! Sanatorium, lots of Gags, 388 Arletta Ave, interesting. and Chasing the Devil was OK. Super hottie made it better. I actually liked Leaving D.C. Not sure why. Home Video (the 2016 movie) was interesting...to say the least as well as the other Home Movie titled FF video. I will always love the Paranormal Activity movies no matter what! BUT, there are some other really awesome ones out there. I will probably watch Rorshach in a bit and see how I like that. I am so over Slenderman and The Rake and all those movies. So overrated. Sorry for the long post but I have not found a group that actually likes this stuff!!!!!!! I am STOKED!!!!!!! WOOHOO Updates to come!!

Shades (2013 - it's on youtube, but you must dig a bit)
RWD (2015 - it's on youtube - reviewers say they hate the movie, but I found it pretty decent)
Septem8er Tapes aka. September Tapes (2004 - it's available on DVD, but only in France and Italy)
Redacted (2007 - from Brian De Palma)
Amber Alert (2012 - it's available on DVD in the USA)
Shopping Tour (2012 - it's available on DVD in the UK)
The Garlock Incident (2012 - it's available on Amazon Prime)
Without Warnings (1994 - it's available on DVD and Amazon Prime)
The Wicksboro Incident - (2002 - it's available on DVD)
I found all of them pretty enjoyable.
