Agreed. Rec was effective in what it was in its original version but Hollywood somehow ruined that and made it uninteresting. (They even changed parts of the friggen ending.)
Since the end of the fifth Paranormal Activity movie, Madeline Fuller, Toby the Demon can see your RUclips comment. Toby the Demon will be visiting you soon. Maybe he'll play Chiropractor with you.
Way to go to totally ruin a good joke, Madeline Fuller. I like the Paranormal Activity movies. They have a subtle plotline. The plotline is amazingly dark and insidious for those of us who understand that type of thing. Paranormal Activity's plotline from the first movie to the fifth was all about showing a dark influence in the multi-generational families. The first movie showed that the big sister, I think that was the big sister, got the short stick when her little sister's family betrayed her by using a Magickal ritual to displace possibly Toby himself to the big sister. All to get the demon from Hunter. Since noone bothers to do any serious Internet nor (e)book research on human based demonic knowledge in-movie everything is left in the air. Mica's personality was mighty disagreeable to me as he deliberately set to anger the demon as much as possible then whine like a man-baby when said demon displayed his anger. Paranormal Activity 2 and 3 showed things from the little sister's perspective. It was shocking to me to see her family more than happy to betray their only other family just to retain their vast riches. Go figure with rich people. Hah! The third movie was to show just how insidious the whole demonic possession and plot went. I'm not saying the witch's coven was a Luciferian or Satanic witch's coven, but they definitely worked with Dark Magick regardless. The fourth movie was to show that somehow Hunter was inexplicitly lost in between the first and fourth movies. The demonically possessed Katie comes for Hunter but must use her servant child who most likely isn't even remotely human (as in he too is demonically possessed), or simply a willing servant for his demon leaders to help break Hunter of his weak Humanity and beliefs. Once he's been broken of those frivolous things the new boy then works over Hunter to get him to accept his destiny and everything that entails. The fifth Paranormal Activity movie shows the final piece to the witch's coven's dark works not only come to fruition but their entire multi-generational demonic plan comes to fruition with remarkably little resistance from all involved sides. Toby is here in the flesh wearing probably the father's body as a skin suit. With all of this said I am excited to see the sixth Paranormal Activity movie if there will be one. The fifth movie was definitively the big action orientated one compared to the four previous movies.
I'm guessing they put it there because of popularity, and the fact that it had the most impact on the movie industry. That impact may not have been a good one, but you have to admit it did make an impact.
Eh, maybe, but the best it did was to bring found footage back from the dead after a while. Cannibal Holocaust and Blair Witch, which came far before it, had a much, much greater impact on the genre. Back when both were released there were people who actually thought they were real. In my opinion, REC is the best one. I've lost track of how many horror movies I watched, but that was legitimately the only one which made me lose sleep.
I like found footage films, but i can understand why some people dislike them, they can be disorientating to watch , but it also connects to the audience more cause they feel more involved and everything seen is from their point of view. FUN FACT# when the first cinema opened in the 1800s people left the cinema feeling sick & nauseated form the scenes cutting over to the next one. Now imagine going back in time and watching them see cloverfield or an adam sandler movie :D
Yes!!! thats what im saying i mean there are so many other movies under the Found Footage genre that could have been up there. i Personally feel Chronicle shouldn't be up there, it was so cringe the way the guy surrounded himself with cameras with no explanation like why? most of these are just bunch of Hollywood productions. Leaving DC Hell House Exhibit A Found Footage M.O.M. The last Broadcast The Pouhkeepsie Tapes etc...
it's a fantastic movie imo, one of my favorites. The director also made The Autopsy of Jane Doe, which I also think is a very good movie, it takes a much more realistic approach and creates a murder mystery vibe that makes the strange happenings that much scarier because everything seems so bizarre but believable at first. I think the twist at the end might spoil the overall tone for some people, I would've liked a less supernatural explanation, but otherwise it was incredible to watch and very interesting if you're remotely interested in or know anything about autopsy/necropsy (i know a little from personal experience and cop shows so i found the movie very fun to watch)
The Blair Witch Project will be the best found-footage movie ever. The movie with now blood, no monsters, no effect. Just a plain horrific story which leaves a viewer to make an ending on his own based on the facts seen in the movie. I remember when I saw the movies with my gf at night. :D We both couldn't sleep because we thought that we saw a man standing in the corner of the room. :D Brutal movie. :) And as for Paranormal Activity. A movie which grosses around 200 million $ with a budget of only 15k $ is good and will always be good. :)
I loved As Above, So Below, just an overall interesting movie to watch. I'm surprised they managed to pull off the alchemy connection without getting too confusing, they used as more of a symbolic part of the film rather than trying to explain something they don't have time to explain and the viewers don't understand, like most found footage films try to do.
lmao when people complain about how shit cloverfield was because of all the camera shaking. like wtf if a 200 ft man eating alien creature is 50 feet in front of you, are you gonna fucking set up a tripod and sit in front of the monster so the camera doesnt shake?? like jesus fuck.
The camera shaking made the movie more intense and is why I love it so much. (The helicopter scene in particular was awesome and couldn't be done without shaky camera work.)
I know people tend to give Paranormal Activity bad rep, which is justifiable since after the third one, the franchise went downhill. However, the first film on its own account was one of the few horror movies that head me on the edge of the seat, and forget I was watching a horror film, especially when it made where we usually feel safe, our homes, the setting, and made you look behind your couch every now and then. It's no wonder it made the number 1 spot. Blair Witch started the genre, but I honestly couldn't tell you too much what was really happening in the movie. I also thought Chronicle should have been above Clover field.
MattrickBT but you can't deny when someone says 'Found Footage Films' the first thing that tends to pop into people's heads is Paranormal Activity. It's just more well known than the Blair Witch.
And Paranormal Lacktivity at numero uno? Come on hombre, make your list creative. I would've put REC at #1 (if you couldn't tell by my phrasing). Hell PA was lackluster as hell. It was boring and not scary, which wouldn't be a problem, except, oh yeah, it's a fucking horror movie!!!
How the fuck did Paranormal Activity get #1 instead of The Blairwitch Project? If it weren't for the Blairwitch, Paranormal Activity probably never would have happened.
The Blair Witch Project should have been number 1 .It truly was the movie that started the 'found-footage' genre. Paranormal Activity is overrated as hell.
***** Yea, I actually fell asleep 10 minutes after the 4th one started last year, they had do wake me up several times, every freaking movie this days is about demons and exorcisms, what happened to the originality? To the gore, scares and original and loved horror villains like Pinhead from Hellraiser for example? (Just puted it there for example)
Totally agree, man. It's seams every film like that is the same. They need some originality. Honestly, I'd rather watch the worst Hellraiser sequel then the newest Paranormal Activity.
I like VHS: viral, the one where the guy spends the whole movie chasing after a van on his bike. while i didn't think the movie was very good overall, i absolutely loved that entire sequence going on throughout the movie, the way it portrayed this random seemingly unconnected chaos going on throughout the city, with a guy on his bike speeding past every insane scene. The movie was pretty bad in every sense and what level of satire it was going for, if any, was extremely unclear, but i definitely found it to be very humorous.
I've watched them twice, one a while ago and second time a few days ago. its good but it isn't that good. not really scary, things are obvious in it as to when things will happen.. it could've done great if they took more time with it and made the creatures/demons or whatever you want to call it a lot better quality with more thought. but in saying that its worth watching them. before someone says they're fantastic and that im wrong this is just my thoughts on it hahaha
It's decent, if you like these types of films, it's worth watching. It's got at least one really good twist. Not top ten material though. They're just working out of a well-worn template these days.
Appelcaster Okay, a cult then. Either way it was insane, alongside the scenario of a bunch of guys getting mauled by a succubus and one of them ending up gettimg abducted by said succubus. I wonder what happens if she actually does like yoi... We get what happens if she doesn't like you.
The PTG's Top 10 Found Footage Movies: 10. The Pyramid 09. As Above, So Below 08. Into the Storm 07. Devil's Due 06. The Devil Inside 05. Apollo 18 04. The Last Exorcism 03. Paranormal Activity 02. Quarantine 01. Cloverfeld
***** Blair Witch was scary back in the late 90's, when I was your age that final scene haunted me....nowadays it's all blood/gore/jumpscares. So no, it does'nt suck, it's your generation who relies on increasing levels of shock value instead of simpler methods to fighten you.
***** there are some movies they become timeless.. in horror and other effect driven genres its the hardest to make it timeless. For example: Saw (only the first one) is still very very scary, even like ten years after. The power of blair witch was gone like 2-3 years later. Chronicles will be still watched even in 20 Years later. And there are the horror comedies! i wonder when the first found footage horror comedie will be made. Difficult to set it up but there are brilliant filmmaker minds who could pull that pretty good of..
"up next is the found footage phenomenon that never lets up on the suspense or terror" The movie literally takes like 20 minutes to get going. I'm thinking MOJO watched a different Paranormal activity than I did, but the clips are from the same movie so I think they are a little confused about what "never lets up on the suspense or terror" is, because watching 2 people sleep for 5 minutes is so very terrifying... The only thing that was scary about that movie is the price I had to pay to go see it.
What's unique about "Apollo 18" are two things: 70's style film reels, and a space setting. It's reviews may say it's not that good, but it all depends on a viewer's preferences. I think "Apollo 18" is good in its own unique way, because the lack of oxygen and confined spaces are two ways the film's fear factor is exemplified. "Apollo 18" is worth at least an honorable mention here.
+FaffyWaffel said lots of people, because i know it might be hard for your mind to comprehend, but there are ACTUALLY people out there who take time out of their day to read!! crazy, right??? "what?" you may ask. "there are people out there who arent as lazy as me, where instead of not listening to a shitty ass english dub with the actual shittiest voice acting ive ever seen, they prefer to listen to a movie with the original audio, all while... oh god forbid i cant say the word its too terrifying.....r...READING the subtitles??????gaspppppp the horrorrrrr.
I think the last scene in that movie would be an interesting movie as a whole. Well mainly a lot of the short stories would make an interesting movie. I think scary stories to tell in the dark should be made like how VHS was made.
I couldn't sleep for days when I watched it. And I was fucking nineteen. The thing is, I'm a huge believer in extraterrestrials, it just isn't possible imo that we're the only planet in the universe with life on it. And I'm also fond of the ancient aliens theory. So... yeah.
***** it still sucks. the blaire witch project is the real shit. scary as hell. you don't even know who were hunting the main characters. while P.A. characters were haunted but stupid and lame demons
Angelofdeath mustaine none of those are proper horrorfilms! im not talking about guts and gore. Im talking about professional filmmaking with all the things that makes a movie interessting like pacing, character building, dramatization and so on. Now you look on the paranormal stupidity and blair shit stuff and break it down. Maybe for someone who isnt that expierenced in Horror Flics, might be scared by these cheap jumpscares and poorly filmed and acted terror situations. Blair witch wasnt even the first with this idea. They just got lucky to have the right amount of promo at exact the right time! Everything else is controlled by lack of knowledge how to make films like that and also lack of budget of course.
V/H/S should've been on here,If you guys don't know what this series of movies are,it is about a group of investigators who find VHS tapes, within them are horror stories like ghost, demons, and in one of them...........Zombies,the first and second one were truly horrifying while the third was lackluster
The thumbnail is from a Norwegian movie called "Trolljegeren". I've seen it, and it's pretty cool to see that such a big channel uses something small, lol.
The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity? Really? LOL Your list seems pretty mainstream I'm afraid... Where's Evidence, Megan Is Missing, The Conspiracy, The Last Broadcast, Grave Encounters, Europa Report, Skinwalker Ranch, and the best one, The Bay? Please make part two haha there are plenty of good FF movies!
I like this list, found footage is usually associated with your typical Hollywood horror movie but it actually seems to work best on the boundaries of or outside of the genre. I love Trollhunter, that's one of my favorite movies because it has a relatively serious tone (kinda hard to tell cause i don't understand Norwegian) but it doesn't take itself too seriously. the tone reminds me a lot of The Host actually.
No way, not only did Cloverfield suck BUT Blair Witch should have been number one on this list with that stupid boring para-lamo activity at number two if they must... I mean if it wasn't for the Blair Witch I don't think any of these other movies would have happened. It was THE "Found Footage" movie.
***** thats kinda stupid. U miss like a very great feelgood effectsdriven fun movie! Great actors, great humour and also a great respectful treatment of the original material. Be honest, the old trekkie movies always tried to be something that the reboot achieved immediatly! They couldnt pull it of on the big screen for like 4-5 films in the old movies.. That shows me the folks who made them were over enthusiastic and much less capable to do a good movie at all! for just the introduction of the young James Tiberious Kirk in his childhood is it worth to watch the movie! Beastie Boys Sabotage!!!! Just Great!
Wow, no shout out for The Poughkeepsie Tapes? I was expecting at least an honorable mention. It's one of my favourite movies combining both found footage and mockumentary style in a way so well crafted, it almost feels real.
I watched this handheld movie not long ago. For once, i found one that actually made me tense up, stare at the screen, hold my breath, gasp and just forget everything else. I thought it would be boring, but once the action started..man, i looooved it! It was also hilarious at every jumpscare, because those i watched it with would scream and cluth eachother while i sort off nervously laughsnorted " hehe..he..hehh * snort*..eeh..*caugh* " As Above, So Below, is the title.
Am I the only one that thought Paranormal Activity was shit? like seriously shouldn't even be on this list. Doors shut and there are bumps on the walls, How scary? I think not.
I didn't care for "Paranormal Activity." It's like watching two hours of "Ghost Hunters," except you actually see things happen. I was, however, actually scared when I saw "The Blair Witch Project." Having been lost in the woods for a night, myself, it really hit home. I thought "Cloverfield" was excellent. It was really an effective use of revealing the monster in bits and pieces, until the end. It should've been higher, imo.
Exactly, the build up was too slow and on the first nights barely anything happened. And things that did happen weren't very scary at all. Like the pool vacuum thing being pulled out of the pool. Creepy, but not exactly frightening...
I agree without Cannibal Holocaust none of these other films would even exist, and even then Paranormal Activity over Blair Witch and Rec bad choices:(
You can't say that just because one movie created the genre that means everything after it is bad or can't be better. Citizen Kane is known for setting the bar with movie storytelling and cinematography, but I fell asleep during it, the "greatest movie of all time". That's like saying all FPS' after Doom are crap just because Doom came first (technically it didn't). Look at Overwatch or even the latest Doom. Doom 2016 took the concept of the original and took it to the next level. The beauty of laying a foundation is everything that gets built above it. The creativity can only go up from there after something lays the foundation. Besides, you *really* want CH to be at the top just because it started the found footage genre? It's hardly a blockbuster that I bet anybody $100 they can't get their friends to sit down and try to watch.
Personally, I loved Devil's Pass. It's a lesser-known found footage film on Netflix about students investigating the Dyatlov Pass Incident. I highly recommend it.
Rec was so good it immediately got ruined by hollywood.
njoYYY True
njoYYY do u think ECHO should be 1
How so? It was like watching the exact same movie in English.
Agreed. Rec was effective in what it was in its original version but Hollywood somehow ruined that and made it uninteresting. (They even changed parts of the friggen ending.)
V
Cloverfield was not directed by J.J. Abrams, the director was Matt Reeves.
Thank you :) (you are correct)
yeah. it was produced by J.J Abrams, but still had all of his signature things: unexpected surprises and lots of lens flare.
Yes,J.J only produced the movie
Unfortunately for you history will not see it that way
The director of the new batman movie
Chronicle and Cloverfield were easily better than Paranormal Activity, and The Blair Witch Project should have been #1.
Wilson Sauls You Got that right
Paranormal activity is shit anyways
Toby the demon is a Pepo and creeper
Since the end of the fifth Paranormal Activity movie, Madeline Fuller, Toby the Demon can see your RUclips comment. Toby the Demon will be visiting you soon. Maybe he'll play Chiropractor with you.
Adam Gray Toby isn't real
he is a actor
V/H/S is better
Way to go to totally ruin a good joke, Madeline Fuller.
I like the Paranormal Activity movies. They have a subtle plotline. The plotline is amazingly dark and insidious for those of us who understand that type of thing. Paranormal Activity's plotline from the first movie to the fifth was all about showing a dark influence in the multi-generational families.
The first movie showed that the big sister, I think that was the big sister, got the short stick when her little sister's family betrayed her by using a Magickal ritual to displace possibly Toby himself to the big sister.
Paranormal Activity, as first? Ranked higher than REC, Blair Witch and Cloverfield?
C'mon WatchMojo, that movie was crap.

***** No, I didn't. After Blair Witch and REC, my pants were completely unshitted.
henriquedematos Yeah, the WatchMojo are sometimes very clonic XD
+henriquedematos Nobody saw Cannibal Holocaust when it first came out. It was never a mainstream hit.
VHS, The Blair Witch Project and Grave Encounters were a lot better than Paranormal Activity on my humble opinion.
Ya, it sucks that these people think the copycat Paranormal Activity was better than the original.
THANK YOU
agreedddddd
Especially Grave Encounters. Which is my personal favorite found footage film.
TTGFan TBWP wasn't really that scary tho
I like found footage films, but i can understand why some people dislike them, they can be disorientating to watch , but it also connects to the audience more cause they feel more involved and everything seen is from their point of view.

Agreed some PUSSIES are easily disorientated and need there hands held
Chronicle definitely should have been higher on the list. It's the best found-footage movie I've ever seen.
Yep.....love that flick
i would love a sequel though i doubt it would live up the the previous.
+Karol Palazej Disneyish? The kid is beaten by his alcoholic father and goes on a rampage, murdering nearly hundreds.
Karol Palazej Maybe you're thinking about Earth to Echo.
your disneyish i cant understand the popularity in you
"Grave Encounter"

Leaving DC
Hell House

Found Footage
M.O.M.
The last Broadcast
The Pouhkeepsie Tapes
etc...
as above, so below is my fav horror movie tbh
edit:i cant type for shit lol
Grave Encounters should have been on here. That movie shook me up for weeks.
Gabriel Wurtzel tell me about it. the second one sucked major balls .
trollhunter is a good movie imo
Trollhunter is a great movie. Of the ones on this list I've seen it was far and away my favorite.
Squirtle Glad you liked it ;)
Trygg Daniloff yas bby
it's a fantastic movie imo, one of my favorites. The director also made The Autopsy of Jane Doe, which I also think is a very good movie, it takes a much more realistic approach and creates a murder mystery vibe that makes the strange happenings that much scarier because everything seems so bizarre but believable at first. Oh by the way, The Tunnel should also be here in addition to V/H/S and Grave Encounters.
VHS 2 and Evidence (2012) also....my top favorites
I shall check out Evidence. ^_^
***** Ok, and please dont automatically think of it as a Blair With knock off, its highly unpredictable. Let me know how you like it
***** How was Evidence (2012)? Its actually available on RUclips for free too..
Grave Encounters (1) BY ITSELF is terrible.
But both as the same story in two parts is actually pretty awesome. :)
The Blair Witch Project will be the best found-footage movie ever. The movie with now blood, no monsters, no effect. My husband and I just played the Blair Witch video game on xbox one! It was pretty damn good, I reccomend it!
The fourth kind is a documentary/found footage movie that's way more scary than half of the movies on this list.
that was the most scary shit i'v ever seen...the next night i wake up at 3.33 , Jesus! ;-)
Mattias F I'm still afraid of owls from that movie
Mattias F That movie gave me so many nightmares when I first watched it.
This isnt a top 10 scary movies list, so if its more scary than half of them, it must be pretty lame
As Above, So Below scared the shit out of me its really good. The Conspiracy is also a pretty fucked up one
EverythingHipHop 100% agree
200% agree
EverythingHipHop totally agree also grave encounters was cool
Jonathan Reyes i think its on netflix. Highly recommended. The ending creeped me tf out

Sorry to burst your bubble but Cloverfield was PRODUCED by JJ Abrams and DIRECTED by Matt Reeves.

Ry Foster Yeah, if you're younger. Blair Witch will always be the defining found footage movie. It had far more impact.
Alright, while I respect Blair Witch as the birth of found footage films, it had one little problem..there was no Blair Witch.
Ry Foster No demons in PA either ;) Just moving sheets and closing doors.
J.J. Abrams didn't direct Cloverfield, Matt Reeves did, Abrams executive produced. Good fact checking on your part guys.

I watched this whole video while riding to a destination in FFXV 😂
How the fuck did Paranormal Activity get #1 instead of The Blairwitch Project? If it weren't for the Blairwitch, Paranormal Activity probably never would have happened.
.Rec is an amazing movie. Shame V/H/S didn't get a mention on here.
V/H/S 1 and 2 are my favorite ones because they gave me actual fear that it puts Paranormal Activity to shame
I expected Grave encounters in list possibly one
;)
Grave encounter was not that good a movie imo tbh
I haven't seen that one is it good?
Cloverfield was way better than REC and Paranormal Activity
Kevin Dunn Blair witch is better then all off them
Kevin Dunn PA is the best, hands down.
Which rev, the spanish version or American one?
Sure !! The imersion of the movie ia amazing...
***** that is true. i forgot that they had different names.
The Blair Witch Project should have been number 1 .It truly was the movie that started the 'found-footage' genre. Paranormal Activity is overrated as hell.
RedDizzle316 Naw, I'm staying in your brain lol.

I'm surprised Grave Encounters didn't make it on the list. I heard it's a good one.
It's got some freaky scenes but not a very memorable movie. I've seen both of them and i don't even remember what they were about :/
It's not that well-known unfortunately. While it's far from a flawless movie the second half of it is genuinely creepy.
I've personally never seen it. But I've heard it's pretty good, that's why I mentioned it.
Cloverfield wasnt directed by JJ Abrams, he just produced it.
Man Bites Dog isn't found footage. It's mockumentary.
And Cloverfield was directed by Matt Reeves not JJ Abrams.
Damn it, I was just about to say both of those.
Timbulathespidermonk great minds think alike.
Yeah, really. If they consider MBD to be a found footage movie, then why wouldn't This Is Spinal Tap be on this list?
deathcrustpunk Yes! This!
Loree Keck I bet this website rapes your computer
V/H/S should be on here
Yea. That is true. Vhs kicked paranormal activity ass
vhs or 2 should be number 1 for sure
Sharkcaster wood yea! paranormal activity was just a freaking consept!
It was a cult, not a boarding school. Lol
Appelcaster Okay, a cult then. Either way it was insane, alongside the scenario of a bunch of guys getting mauled by a succubus and one of them ending up gettimg abducted by said succubus.
I wonder what happens if she actually does like yoi... We get what happens if she doesn't like you.
did we just ignore grave encounters?
That movie sucked and so did the second but I still watch it ahaha.
I know! That's my favorite FF film...

Blair witch or Chronicle should be number 1
***** Blair Witch was scary back in the late 90's, when I was your age that final scene haunted me....nowadays it's all blood/gore/jumpscares. So no, it does'nt suck, it's your generation who relies on increasing levels of shock value instead of simpler methods to fighten you.
*****
there are some movies they become timeless.. in horror and other effect driven genres its the hardest to make it timeless.
"up next is the found footage phenomenon that never lets up on the suspense or terror"
The movie literally takes like 20 minutes to get going.
Chronicle and Cloverfeild 👍
Chronicle!
Michael Salinas IK! Its my favorite movie to date.
Indeed; it is an underrated sci-fi / supehero movie.
Michael Salinas My favorite found footage movie.
Mine too, I don't why it was relatively low on this list.
Seen the idiot who says its Disneyish entitled to own opinion but I hope shes is eaten by dogs
Chronicle should've been #1
yes
no. that movie is bad
No, youre bad
Troll Hunter should be first
atleast top 5
TheLegend27 is coming...
Get some original thoughts you boring piece of shit.
TheLegend27 roses are red,
so is my bass.
Legend27 is crying,
cuz I kicked his ass.
Roses are red
Harambes in heaven
My ass keeps getting whooped by TheLegend27
TheLegend27 oh no my ass is getting beat
MattrickBT Oh scare
What's unique about "Apollo 18" are two things: 70's style film reels, and a space setting. It's reviews may say it's not that good, but it all depends on a viewer's preferences. I think "Apollo 18" is good in its own unique way, because the lack of oxygen and confined spaces are two ways the film's fear factor is exemplified. "Apollo 18" is worth at least an honorable mention here.
REC is better with subtitles.
- Said no one ever
+FaffyWaffel said lots of people, because i know it might be hard for your mind to comprehend, but there are ACTUALLY people out there who take time out of their day to read!! crazy, right??? "what?" you may ask. "there are people out there who arent as lazy as me, where instead of not listening to a shitty ass english dub with the actual shittiest voice acting ive ever seen, they prefer to listen to a movie with the original audio, all while... oh god forbid i cant say the word its too terrifying.....r...READING the subtitles??????gaspppppp the horrorrrrr.
+FaffyWaffel Ignorant haha
Good thing I speak Spanish lol
lol, learn to read while watching a movie. Never watch a movie subtitled, for the love of god.
I think V/H/S should be on this
I think the last scene in that movie would be an interesting movie as a whole. Well mainly a lot of the short stories would make an interesting movie. I think scary stories to tell in the dark should be made like how VHS was made.
How couldn't there be any honorable mentions? if so, they should of add: Grave Encounters, Evidence, The conspiracy, etc.
1:00 if i ever have a heart attack. do not try to restart my heart again. because i have no need to wake up without my eyes... zombie or not. lol
The Fourth Kind was also really good.
Quintin Sarren that was a great found footage movie
That one scared the fuck out of me when I was younger
Quintin Sarren I'm glad I'm. not the only who thinks so.👍
The Forth Kind ruined me
I couldn't sleep for days when I watched it. And I was fucking nineteen.
The thing is, I'm a huge believer in extraterrestrials, it just isn't possible imo that we're the only planet in the universe with life on it. And I'm also fond of the ancient aliens theory. So... yeah.
No, no. Cloverfield was directed by Matt Reeves, not JJ Abrams. JJ was the producer.
Cloverfield should have been #1. One of the few found footage films I've actually really enjoyed.
WOW! you guys actually included Cannibal Holocaust!!! I thought you weren't even going to know about it or include it!!
I've seen trollhunter :D Pretty fun movie!
I really enjoyed that movie :)
TJ Tom As did I. I like bad movies and I knew Troll Hunter was going to be the way it was. I think it was actually a pretty good film.
Rec is so much better than quarantine
GRAVE ENCOUNTERS!
That movie was terrible, thats why its not on here.
umhhhm
Skinwalker Ranch, Grave Enounters and Alien Abduction would be my top three favorite found footage movies. Honorable mentions would be VHS and VHS 2.
paranormal activity? seriously? that piece of shit? i didn't feel remotely scared during that, and anyone that did has never seen a proper horror film
The only scene that truly made me jump was in the second one when the mom is home alone and all the pots and pans get launched everywhere.
The Mattzila The Marked Ones was arigh
***** it still sucks. the blaire witch project is the real shit. scary as hell. you don't even know who were hunting the main characters. while P.A. characters were haunted but stupid and lame demons
Angelofdeath mustaine
none of those are proper horrorfilms! im not talking about guts and gore.
It's stupid that people pee themselves just from seeing doors closing and people being dragged across the room.
Stop. You're really putting Diary of the Dead at #10?
Ricardo Hernández exactly! I facepalmed at the narration in the movie 🤦🏼♀️ it had potential but it was crap
V/H/S should've been on here,If you guys don't know what this series of movies are,it is about a group of investigators who find VHS tapes, within them are horror stories like ghost, demons, and in one of them...........Zombies,the first and second one were truly horrifying while the third was lackluster
I think Cloverfield was a really good choice. It had a whole back story too.
The thumbnail is from a Norwegian movie called "Trolljegeren". I've seen it, and it's pretty cool to see that such a big channel uses something small, lol.
I know it's not exactly a film but Marble Hornets is fantastic!
Cloverfield is the best movie on this list, we all know that.
No doubt about that!
+TheRobloxian09 Hell no, it's the worst
Jon PJ Haha yeah, okay
+TheRobloxian09 I found you twice in one day
Lloyd Daniel Haha where else
"afflicted" should be in top 3 , it is just very well shot for an indi movie.
Where can I watch it for free? I’m really dying to watch it
clover should have got number 3 it really re-popularized found footage
Chronicle and project x are my favourite and especially cloverfield
What We Do In The Shadows is my favorite movie of all time. And it’s found footage. Troll Hunters is good too, though.
Project Almanac, it's the only found footage movie I've ever seen lol
yea lol
I forgot all about that movie, what was it about again
@@brickfighter1320 a time machine, decent movie if ur bored
Was I the only one expecting V/H/S?
The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity? Really? LOL
Your list seems pretty mainstream I'm afraid... Where's Evidence, Megan Is Missing, The Conspiracy, The Last Broadcast, Grave Encounters, Europa Report, Skinwalker Ranch, and the best one, The Bay? Please make part two haha there are plenty of good FF movies!
evidence was pretty good.
***** Not really, those two are bs
I find that one pretty interesting, because it doesn't rely on ghosts or monsters, not even jumpscares, to cause fear!
Megan Is Missing is the biggest piece of shit ever created
GRAVE ENCOUNTERS? LOL! That was the worst found footage film I've ever seen.
really grave encounters should be number 1
My list:
1. Rec 2
2. Rec 1
3. Paranormal Activity
4. Chronicle
5. Grave encounters
6. VHS
7. Cloverfield
8. Blaire Wich
9. Paranormal 2
10. Paranormal 3
***** I had trouble sleeping for like a week because of that first goddamn tape. And somehow developed a fear of succubi.
I like the whole Paranormal Activity series.
Grave encounters is cool. Haven't seen the 2 one.
As Above So Below is my favorite found footage film. Used to be Chronicle
I totally just watched As Above, So Below and it blew my mind how good that movie is.
+Brandon Pennington I know right☺ My mom watched it, and she thought it was good too.
as above, so below is my hands down favorite horror movie
Paranormal activity? Seriously?
I love these type of movies c':
Glad to see "diary of the dead", "trollhunter", "chronicle" and "cloverfield" getting love.
like with every other TOP whatever countdown.. number 2 is actually the best.
cloverfield is definetley the best IMO, even though it scarred me for life
No way, not only did Cloverfield suck BUT Blair Witch should have been number one on this list with that stupid boring para-lamo activity at number two if they must...
Trollhunter's my favorite! they remind me of the wooden trolls my grandmother keeps in her house.
Blair Witch and Cloverfield best found footage. movies
I was laughing like a madman during paranormal activity. The audience reactions were the best!
Cloverfield was not directed by JJ Abrams. Come on WatchMojo...
not even a mention on Poughkeepsie Tapes... one of the best
MaxGiu I seen it. It wasn’t found footage type
If you ask me, Grave Encounters Deserved #8
Watchmojo: #1: Paranormal Activity
Me: CALLED IT!!!!!
I swear Matt Reeves directed Cloverfield and JJ Abrams only produced it?
Fuck off mate
Caren Jilek Since when did bots reply to comments.
Am I the only one that thought Paranormal Activity was shit? like seriously shouldn't even be on this list. Doors shut and there are bumps on the walls, How scary? I think not.
Your not the only one that thinks it sucks
I'm glad i'm not the only one.
TheNotoriousCyberbully I smell post- ironic
Exactly, the build up was too slow and on the first nights barely anything happened. And things that did happen weren't very scary at all. Like the pool vacuum thing being pulled out of the pool. Creepy, but not exactly frightening...
chronicle by far
How is Grave Encounters NOT even on this list..? It totally deserved AT LEAST number 5. It's a number one found footage movie in my heart.
What about Apollo 18? That was a good found-footage movie.
Yes it had the geezer out of Alphas
End of Watch?! It's like they haven't even seen this movie
great film.
Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that one. It should definitely be on this list.
End of Watch is based on true events this list are found footage movies and there fake.End of Watch is found footage but its real.
it's not found footage
Isn’t it documentary style? Or no I haven’t seen it yet
AMBER ALERT was an amazing found footage film and it stands to be my favorite horror film
Omg i love that movie
Catness Twig Agreed! Even though I knew going in it was a Found Footage movie, at the end I was seriously wondering if it was real.. lol..
..i would "Megan is missing" and "The Poughkeepsie Tapes "add to this list.....
Cloverfield was directed by Matt Revees not J. J. Abrams
How about a list of top ten non-horror found footage films?
+neomp5 good idea but sometimes it can go both ways... seen "home movie" ... one of the best FF movies out there
how is chronicle ahead of cannibal haulicaust. or any movie on here for that matter
This genre gets a lot of undeserved hate.
Trollhunter, Rec, and Chronicle are great.
Rec, The Blair Witch Project and Graves Encounters are my favorite.
Oh God, I loved Grave Encounters. One of the best horror films I have ever seen.
Alexa Janson love it!!!!
I heard the 3rd Grave Encounters will be coming this late year or mid-year next year. I can't wait!
Lee S G E 2 is shitty..
It was alright. It was nowhere near a good as 1, but still had its moments. The beginning, I won't lie, was really stupid.
Awesome list!!!
I liked Earth to Echo, but this video was made before that movie came out.
LavenderBeautydance that’ one was so bad
