Fork Creek update: A lot of you suggested Loctite 638; I applied that a few days ago and let it sit for 48hrs. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to have worked, the creek is still very much there.
I had the exact same issue with my MY23 Zeb AND Lyrik forks (new charger 3 lineup forks) and my buddy's Domain too. New batch of Rockshox steer tubes seem to have that problem all over. I sent both back for a warranty claim, they swapped the steer tube on both, and they're good since then ! Hope this helps !
This fork was originally off my OG dark blue force and is well out of warranty. I tried loctite 638 and a few orders but nothing worked so ive just been riding my old bike which i kept for this very situation.
Same here! I randomly saw one of his videos in like January 2022 that was titled “why I don’t ride downhill bikes at parks”, and a few weeks later I bought an enduro and got into mountain biking partly because of his videos.
Love being along for the ride. Your ability to read the trail, even if youve never ridden it before, and to keep your transitions smooth 8s mesmerizing and relaxing. And it helps that your voice is among the easier voices to listen to.
By far my favorite rider to watch. It's also funny you mention the popularity aspect of MTB back in the day. I used to ride no suspension on trails like todays upload. I am almost certain that is why I had to have bilateral carpal tunnel surgery. LOL. Great video Phil. Always look forward to watching you younger guys (and girls) ride stuff I no longer ride... Double wrist surgery and new knees will definitely slow you down. But it should never stop you... Keep riding!
I personally love the sound of this bike and being able to hear the suspension at work. It sounds so so much better and is way more enjoyable to watch than the other bikes.
Phil, Your new CSU will eventually creak again. There are a few suspension shops that can press out the steerer tube and 'glue' it back in. Costs less than half a new csu to do this and will be creak free for thousands of miles.
Second, and what a video. Love seeing you ride your bike phil you were actually the reason why im in mountain biking. You were the very first mtb video i watched. ❤❤❤ Thank you
Hey Phil! saw you guys at Bolton Sunday- I hit skidmarks and bogey right before bolton for the firs time- amazing trails! wish I ran into you there to tow me in or at least see you hit the first three features on SMs to see the speeds your hitting them- great job!
Hailey is a badass and a super solid rider in her own right. Really helps put into perspective how ridiculous and stupid (in a good way) Mach Phil really is...
Never heard of anyone doing that, and from the looks of it requires some custom made tools which I don't have. So yeah, thats not exactly and "easy" fix as you imply.
@@SkillsWithPhilsend it to RS. They have been fixing MANY of the zebs. Not sure what's going on with them, but brand new one's are doing it. They all talk about it in the RS FB group.
Phil! What’s the best way to support you? I can’t find a Patreon or anything for you. Would like to contribute to the great content you put out for us.
I replace tires when they get warn out. I have been running continental kryptotal on my other bikes this season, but these tires have life left in them so no need to change them.
Any reason you're not on the Maxxis wagon? Or are you sponsored by Continental? I used to pride Specialized tires, but now decided to ride Maxxis front.
My Lyrik CSU had a creak and I was going to try what I read here… USE LOCKTITE 638 TO FIX IT! • loctite 638 in anaeoribic (dries without air) and wicking (seeps into gaps) so can be applied without removing stantions. Ideally you want to diassemble but works fine if you don't have a bearing press. I probably wouldn't change loctite if you were disassembling but if you wanted a quicker bond then 609 with an activator might be suitable but the bond strength isn't as high. watch for overspill from the crown/steerer join so you dont muck up the headset. Absolutely fine to do without removing forks, in fact its easier as you can just tip the bike upside down for 24 hours to let it seep in. The only reason id take the forks off is to do the upper crown/steerer join but thats generally not the problem side as its not where the leverage is
I originally tried 609 as suggested from a forum thread on this issue, but I don't remember seeing that an activator was required. Needless to say it didn't work. I've got 638 coming in the mail this week, I hadn't seen that suggested in the forums thread I had previously read.
I saw 609 recommended so i tried using that - it didn't work, but I wasn't surprised because the description said it didn't work well with alloys. Now after googling 638, I just found a few new to me forum threads and apparently the 609 needs an activator which i didnt use. I'll order up some 638 to see if that fixes it but I'm not holding my breath.
I did not think it would work with 638, I was surprised that the fork went from very creaky to completely silent. Just let it harden for 24 hours and then wipe off the excessive Loctite.
@@SkillsWithPhilI'd still reach out to them!! All the newer zebs been having this issue also. They might be feeling bad & repair for you. Won't hurt to try🤷🏻♂️
These videos feel a little voyeuristic and that I'm watching in on interactions where I've not been invited. Easily solved by interacting with the camera/audience

Look at you Haley! Taking the lead an all! You go girl!
I love that "old" GT Force so much. The debut of that bike is nostalgic to me because thats when I started riding and watching MTB videos
Same here! I randomly saw one of his videos in like January 2022 that was titled “why I don’t ride downhill bikes at parks”, and a few weeks later I bought an enduro and got into mountain biking partly because of his videos.
the sound of the leafs at the end. Sooooo goooood!
Youre bolton vids are my favorite. You live in a beautiful place.

Been riding MTB since the late 80’s so I can definitely relate. Though my only surgery has been facial reconstruction with Ti plates, lol
fall riding really is something special!
I personally love the sound of this bike and being able to hear the suspension at work. It sounds so so much better and is way more enjoyable to watch than the other bikes.
Man some of those trails look gnarly.
Always a good day when Phil drops a vid.
Yes!! Been waiting for a fall ride drop!
Way to go Hayel!!!!!! You rock!!
Nice vid.
Haley has gotten real fast the last years!

LOOKS AWSOME! THOSE LEAVES ARE SLIPPERY AS HELL!
Glad to finally hear an update on the 'new blue' trail! Been looking forward to checking that out fo couple seasons now
There's actually two blue trails being built on that side, an easier blue which will open first and a harder blue that'll open down the line.
Hey Phil! saw you guys at Bolton Sunday- I hit skidmarks and bogey right before bolton for the firs time- amazing trails! wish I ran into you there to tow me in or at least see you hit the first three features on SMs to see the speeds your hitting them- great job!
looks like good times!
Great trails at Bolton Valley!
Glad I could help point you to the CSU for the source of the creak. Mine is going in for a replacement under warranty soon, what a pain!
Well done Haily!!!
My daughter just bought a house in St Albans. I’m excited to start exploring the trails in the area!!
Me and my buddy ended up on that accidental trail the same day off of power lines... so much more fun than the actual power lines haha
6;19. that shute looks nuts!!
Schweet...fresh Skils drop 👊🏼
Nah man you make it look so easy
exit of boulder gap is looking way better after those berms and slight reroute - look for the optional high line after the double out of the woods
Just released the same kind of video for the other side of the border ! Fall time is beautiful around here.
Bromont does that to every bike, my bike is creaking like that too haha.
W Phil uploaded no more depression
Rode Killington for the first time last week, used your video to measure out the cable trail drop! Still nearly sent it to flat 😂😂
Hailey is a badass and a super solid rider in her own right.
Really helps put into perspective how ridiculous and stupid (in a good way) Mach Phil really is...
Just press out the steertube and press it back with loctite. No more squeek and 400 bucks in da pocket. Cheers Sander

Fall in the northeast rules!
I have 2 fox 36's from 2022 and they both have the same creak. My cheap 4 year old Yari is still quiet as a mouse. 🤷

The rear wheel looked taco'd in the first shot... damn wide angle lenses!
Phil do you put two different tires on your bike or both are the same?
I replace tires when they get warn out. I have been running continental kryptotal on my other bikes this season, but these tires have life left in them so no need to change them.
Just reread your question and realized i answered the wrong question. Im running the assagai in the front and DHR in the rear.
Phil does it make a difference on the trails having your tires like that?
very interesting
Any reason you're not on the Maxxis wagon? Or are you sponsored by Continental? I used to pride Specialized tires, but now decided to ride Maxxis front.
My sponsors are always listed towards the beginning of every video and in the description. I talk about tire choices briefly in my bike check videos.
You should ride Mountain Creek again!
what is your action cam

You need to come and ride wild side
You can put some Loctite 638 on that creaky fork. I had the same problem, my bike is completely silent now.

This fork is out of warranty.
